So here is the firmware for the Epic in .TAR format. Not sure what we would use to flash this as of yet but I figured this would be a good share.

Can someone please link me to a working gingerbread infuse kernel flashable in odin? I lost root and recovery with the new beta leak, and I need help.
so your in a Boot Loop?
and i believe you can take the CWM Zip and extract it and find the kernel file in there for Odin. take your Pick.
I'm a little paranoid, want to make sure I can get back to Stock ROM if I need to.
I downloaded it from the forums. I have a Rogers i727R. The file is called SGH_I727R-UCKJ2-k0nane.tar.
Looking at it with 7zip, it contains 3 files, boot.img, recovery.img and system.img.ext4.
Is this what should be there?
Yeah. You need to flash that tar file with Odin

Thank you.
Edit: Fail... my problem was too OLD of a version of CWM not too new =P flashed to v5 of CWM and running the restore now...
I did a backup for a droid x, and now the person I did it for wants to go back to the restore, when i did the restore it was back when CWM used .tar and now i have a new CWM that wants .img
can someone please link me to a CWM that still uses .tar or tell me how i can convert these .tar into .img for recovery?
I tried a Kernel someone suggested and I can't even get into recovery mode. It's not compatible. Can someone make me a 920P "tar" kernel so I can flash it in Odin? The tar software does not work also. I've tried various things and it's no go. Thanks.
I want to flash .zip Rom with odin v3.07
I've downloaded nolekat rom for my samsung tab 3 neo I was just trying to root it from odin and somehow it stuck at boot logo now. So I have downloaded rom and it is in .zip extension can I change it's name to .tar or .tar.md5
or is my thinking is wrong?
You have to download firmware, you can't flash custom roms with odin only stick firmware, try Sammobile

You use a custom recovery such as twrp or CWM to flash roms. I suggest doing some reading of the How to's and tutorial threads in your device section to learn more.....before you accidentally destroy your device. Odin is for official firmware, as said above. Be very careful with what you flash and how, or your device can become a paperweight quickly.
Read up first, then do. :good:
