Jataayu - Mobile Web Browser for PPC & Smartphone

Jataayu's endeavour is to make the vision of ubiquitous mobile web access a reality - by enabling its Truly Mobile browser -jB5 with ART® technology - on the widest range of feature phones.
More about jB5
Rich Heritage
jB5 - the truly mobile web browser, has been evolving continuously over the last 6 years and more, right from the time the first WAP browser made its appearance in year 2000. jB5 is architected to extend the excellence of its earlier WAP1x and WAP2 browsers to the HTML world.
Award-Winning Technology
jB5 with its Adaptive Rendering - ART® has evoked tremendous interest in the mobile devices technology marketplace. Within 9 months of its launch, jB5 with ART® has won for Jataayu the ZDNet Asian Top Techno Visionary 2006 award.
Multi-mode adaptation
jB5 provides ART based, very usable, fit-to-display-width rendering which allows page viewing without horizontal scrolling at all. It also provides Natural mode rendering to see screens in a Virtual Desktop view. jB5 also has a Text Only mode which allows some very quick browsing without taking either the time or the bandwidth to download images, when they are not required by the user. ART provides full flexibility to add more rendering modes, as and when, device characteristics make them necessary
What’s special about ART®
ART –or Adaptive Rendering Technology, provides the most usable adaptation of web pages for mobile phones. ART provides the flexibility to select the rendering mechanism best suited for the variety of device capabilities in use today and provides for a continuous enhancement of adaptation algorithms. ART enables a new level of content presentation ultimately making it easier for users to access content and services than before.
Some Useful tools
Bookmark Imports
JB5 provides you the facility to import all your bookmarks/favorites from your Desktop PC using the Import Bookmark feature. This provides desktop users the power of getting all their favorites/bookmarks into their jB5 quickly.
Personalize Wizard
allows you to preserve values entered in form fields for future use. Thus pages containing form fields that need to be filled in frequently like login pages, query pages, etc, can be saved once and accessed without having to re-enter these fields again. Pages stored using Personalize Wizard will take you directly to the resulting page, thus bypassing the initial page where these fields would otherwise have to be entered.
Exclusive features of jB5 for Win Mobile 5.0
Home Screen Favorite
jB5 has a unique feature where you can move some of your really favorite links to the home screen. This creates a separate entry on the home screen with a specific icon if available. Clicking on this link will directly launch jB5 and fetch the page. A maximum of 3 links can be configured on the home screen.
WAP Push
jB5 supports WAP Push messages. Two types of push messages – SI (Service Indication) and SL (Service Loading) are currently supported. The push inbox is integrated with the messaging application as an independent account type. Thus on installation of jB5 you will see a new messaging component called WAP Push among other components such as SMS, Email and MMS in the application.
It is better than the previous version as there have been a few bug fixes and addition of a few good features.
Some of the features included on the Windows Mobile platform are SSL support, exit option, option to attach files, Selectable User Agent to represent jB5 as either a jB5 browser or a Mozilla browser, import bookmarks from Pocket IE, shortcut key to change the display mode and a text only mode.
Played with it a bit. The scrolling is not so hot.
When "pushing" the page around, you can either do horizontal or vertical - not both. That's somewhat annoying once you get used to Picsel (or Opera).
Also, the "Page down" feature of the scroll bar (tapping between the arrow to the thumb handle) does not work - it scrolls a single line only.
The only nice thing I have seen so far is that rendering is pretty darn fast when compared to my other 3 browsers..
It'll be updated to remove the bugs.
Hi mushipkw!
I like the browser - it has now moved to my second favourite browser. Opera mobile 8.65 is still my favourite because:
- tabbed view of open windows makes moving between windows really easy
- use of the "grab" to move the page around with the stylus is a very natural navigation tool. I might get used to the Auto-scroll function at some stage, but at the moment I like using my stylus.
- context sensitive menu. I like to be able to open a link in a new window by holding down the stylus on a link and then having appropriate options. Also, being able to get out of full screen mode via the context menus would also be good.
But I still prefer yours to Picsel, PIE, Minimo, ....

Great to see it's, at last, updated further. The version I tested for my Smartphone Web Browing Bible ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=323651 ) was still pretty buggy and, back then, it seemed the project was put on a hold.
trying PPC version. Installation works but when I try to run it, I get:
The Device Locale you are using is not supported in this version. Please use English (United States) for running jB5

I am using Czech localized WM6. But I have never seen message like this.. and every other english speaking application is running perfectly. So?
Pretty nice. Tried it for about 2 minutes and every page that has a login screen, after entering my user/pass it wont let me click the "Login" button. Tried it on 3 different web pages and the same result each time.

Free EveryWAN Remote Support v3.1 available for download

The new free version v3.1 of EveryWAN Remote Support is available from Sparus Software.
EveryWAN Remote Support Personal Edition will enable you to remotely view and control any Windows Mobile device from your PC using a local ActiveSync connection (via a USB/cradle or Bluetooth). It provides just a taste of the powerful capabilities of the full EveryWAN suite and - even better - this personal edition is free to download and use!
It fully supports Windows Mobile 6.5 devices.
Improvements in the free EveryWAN Remote Support Personal Edition:
- Selectable pencil colour for "white board" feature. Previously this was restricted to blue.
- Use keyboard shortcuts in the application, with the option to disable these shortcuts if required - The disable option is useful where conflicts may arise between local and remote functionality.
- Option to include recording of device skin in screenshot function.
- Improved File Transfer Tool: Find a file on the terminal - no need to navigate the file tree if you know the file name
- Opening simplified on the PC for a terminal-based file
- Added new skins: Sony Ericsson X1, HTC S740, HTC Touch 3G, Eten DX900, and others
- Improved Remote Display skin creation tool:
* ASR key codes.
* JPEG support
* Right-click a skin to edit or delete
Many more improvements in the Enterprise version (connected to EveryWAN Mobility Manager gateway server) like:
- New collaborative tool Text chat - the help desk and the user can use this chat client as an alternative means to communicate in areas where the VOIP function is not practical.
- Improved display terminals connected, which can now:
* Search user by their name or partial name match
* Expand / Collapse the group tree
- Periodically refresh the user list automatically
- User configurable display option, allowing sort and display of device information – e.g. device model instead of serial number.
...
You can now download EveryWAN Remote Support.
You are welcome to give any feedback on the product. I like feedback on our work and I can improve it for next version if something is wrong or missing.
Where's it gone?
Quick one on EveryWAN RS..
Links to the file seem broken, any idea what's going on?
The full suite seems pretty solid and might be worth looking at for one of my projects but atm I could really use just the RS PE for my own phone..
Anyone have a copy of v3.1 they could link up for me?
Cheers

Iris browser new (powerfull?) browser for wm

i'm allways, searching, testing for better borwsing experience in my wm devices.
after opera handrends versions, opera 10,skyfire (that stoped working out of U>S.) and fennec(that isn't working in leo)
i just (re) testing Iris browser for wm. it seems hopefull...
is lighter than any other full browser we use in wm(except opera mini)
needs some work but,i believe that, without testing and feedbacking an app, development dies...
unfortunatelly,developer's site http://www.torchmobile.com/ isn't working ..
maby someone from our great developers in our community in xda, could make some fixes/adds for this?just hopping to it
Why shouldn't you get the desktop browsing experience in a mobile environment? With the Iris Browser's revolutionary technology, you can access the full Web on resource-constrained device and get the same functionality as you would on a PC.
Some core features include:
* WebKit Rendering Engine - Our developers have unparalleled expertise with WebKit, the rendering engine that is quickly becoming the de facto standard for cutting edge Web browsing. We built the Iris Browser to bring you everything that WebKit has to offer, including standards-compliance, efficiency, portability and stability.
* Customizable Interface - The graphical user interface of the Iris Browser is highly customizable. This means that we can adapt it to your specific requirements.
* Touch Screen Control - The Iris Browser is equipped with intuitive touch screen controls, giving you more control than ever over your Web browsing experience without making you navigate complicated menus.
* Advanced HTML & CSS Support - We believe in being ahead of the curve. That's why the Iris Browser supports both HTML 4 and some parts of the upcoming HTML 5 (canvas), as well as CSS 2.x and 3.x, allowing you to view cutting edge Web sites with exciting new features.
* Languages - Devices are shipped all over the world. Your software shouldn't limit your market. The Iris Browser supports internationalization of the user interface and viewing Web sites with international encodings.
* Zoom & Tap Function - The Iris Browser lets you focus on what you want to see. When you view a Web site, you're looking at the full page that is shrunk down to fit the size of your display. Nothing is missing. You can focus on what interests you by tapping on the screen and zooming into specific sections of the page.
* Multiple Windows and Tabs - You want your Web browsing experience to be smooth and simple, so we designed the Iris Browser to support multiple windows as well as multiple tabs, allowing you to easily transition between Web pages.
* Input Methods - The Iris Browser can handle any input method that's on your platform.
Handwriting recognition. On-screen keyboards. iTap. Auto-complete. No problem! * Software mouse cursor - Not all Web pages are created equal. In fact, some are impossible to navigate without a mouse cursor. The virtual mouse in the Iris Browser lets you chart your own Web experience through all sites, giving you the freedom to take a desktop browsing experience with you on the go.
* Special Effects - You want your device to be unique. We do too. The Iris Browser provides a broad range of special effects, including animations and sound effects, letting you to tailor the application to your style. Some of the existing page transitions that you can choose from include slide-in/slide-out, tear away, shatter, swirl, and many more.
* Rotating Devices - Now you can get the most out of your hardware. If you're using a device with a rotating screen, the Iris Browser automatically and seamlessly rotates the contents and reformats the page between landscape and portrait modes.
* Advanced Security Features - We want your Web experience to be fun and safe. That's why the Iris Browser includes a number of advanced security features, including phishing and spoofing protection.
* Pop-Up Blockers
The Iris Browser offers unparalleled flexibility. Its browser layer and user interface are modular and can be easily customized to meet specific requirements. The component-based design provides manufacturers with complete control over the software. The Iris Browser is portable to many devices and platforms.

Choose Mirror Download and be patient. It takes a while before it's downloaded as the download speed is about 9 kb/sec!
BTW, I always liked Iris much more than Skyfire.

Address Bar
Either I'm stupid or blind, but I cannot seem to find the address bar in Iris, only adding bookmarks, which is no problem at all. But it would be far more easy to just have an address bar where you can type in the site you want to visit. Can someone point me into the right direction? Furthermore this browser is far and far better than Opera or Skyfire or whatever browser!
regards, Kuzibri
P.S. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I just cannnot find it!

My VNC app with SSH tunneling support for encryption

Hello,
I just wanted to point everyone's attention to an application that may have been on your wishlist . I took android-vnc-viewer, coded a new touch interface for it (with multi-touch support for right-click, middle-click, and even scroll with a two-finger drag). Also, I couldn't bear the thought of unencrypted VNC, so I added built-in SSH tunneling support to it for that extra spice.
The app is called Free bVNC Secure, and has been posted on Google Play. Please try it and let me know what you find. There are bound to be some bugs bubbling under the surface, but with your help, we'll get them all squashed! Here is a list of features to whet your appetite:
- SSH tunneling for security.
- Automatic session saving.
- Zoomable, Fit to Screen, and One to One scaling.
- Touch Mouse and Simulated Touchpad input modes.
- Tight VNC encoding with multiple color modes (very fast even over slow links).
- Supports most VNC servers including TightVNC, UltraVNC and RealVNC.
- Toggling Ctrl and Alt from the menu.
- In-program help on making connections and input modes.
- Most other functionality from android-vnc-viewer.
Here is how the multi-touch clicks and other functionality works:
- Left-click: Tap once.
- Double-click: Double-tap.
- Right-click: Tap-hold and tap with a second finger (anywhere else on screen).
- Middle-click: Tap-hold and tap with two more fingers (anywhere else on screen).
- Mouse-drag: Tap-hold-long and swipe.
- Scroll-wheel: Two-finger swipe up/down. Swipe quickly (flick) to scroll really quickly.
- Zoom in/out: When in Zoomable scaling, you can pinch-zoom.
Please follow the link BillShepp posted below my post to see the application in Google Play.
Cheers!
Iordan

Of all the apps I've tried, this one has it all together. SSH with vnc just makes sense. Works awesome on my headless torrent box, vino on Ubuntu.

[APP][2.2+] Server Auditor SSH client with easy navigation

Hello,
ServerAuditor application is available on Google Play now (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.server.auditor.ssh.client). We released it a couple of days ago. We are linux developers mostly and sometimes would like to have remote access through remote devices. This is initial release and more features are coming. Client is implemented from scratch and it isn't a clone of some opensource SSH client implementations.
We appreciate any feedback which would have to make our application easier to use as we believe it is possible to have convenient mobile SSH client.
Version 1.4
It's been a while since my latest update. Now we completely reworked the UI and added several features like port forwarding. Please also note that an app has a new URL in the market.
Version 1.2
- Aliases are finally available.
- A lot of new cool color schemes.
- Incredible copy-paste implementation. Allows instant search of copied buffer in Google or Serverfault.
- A lot of bug fixes and improvements.
- Colours support and connection grouping
- SSH scripting and ability to execute one command on several servers for easy cluster managment
- Port forwarding
- Smart command and filesystem navigation (we aren't 100% sure how we will exactly implement this, so some tests needed, any ideas are appreciated).
Version 1.1
- Full xterm support
- Incredible improvement of the rendering speed!
- Close all connections functionality
- Various UI improvements
- New option 'Background connection's timeout'
- Hackers keyboard is supported
- Redesigned help page
- Bug fixes for certain Android devices
Version 1.0.2
- Crash on Nexus fixed
- Import keys functionality implemented
Version 1.0.1
- We tried to make access to control keys more convenient than in existing SSH clients
- Meta-actions (like shake for CTRL-C and Volume buttons are used).
- Easy connection and keys management.
- Gestures like swipe up/down/left/right are used for replacing corresponding terminal buttons.
We would like to know which features by your opinion are most important and shortcomings of current version
Thank you for your time!
Dmitriy.
Please check for new update.
BEST ssh client out there! Much better, much more up to date than Connectbot.
Thanks, Jewremy!
We have just published Server Auditor in Amazon app market (http://www.amazon.com/Crystalnix-Se...qid=1344677892&sr=8-1&keywords=server+auditor).
Are there any plans to support Tasker and/or Intents, so the SSH client can be launched, connected before Tasker (or any other automation program) launches a task? Being able to disconnect and close the client would be crucial as well (this last part is something ConnectBot can't handle afaik).
Hi, ppc_dan.
We are going to release next version with support of terminal colors soon. At the moment we have several feature requests (like scripting support, grouping, etc). Thank you for your suggestion, I think we will try to implement Tasker support within our scripting support task.
ServerAuditor has gained a huge update. Please find the most significant changes below:
Version 1.1
- Full xterm support
- Incredible improvement of the rendering speed!
- Close all connections functionality
- Various UI improvements
- New option 'Background connection's timeout'
- Hackers keyboard is supported

This is a great app. My only suggestions are to add the ability to use aliases. It would be nice since a lot of my connections are also remote connections with a FQDN so they all look the same but the port.
Also I'm trying to add keys but i cant seem to figure it out. I have tried to attach both a public key and a private key. (created by puTTy) with no success.
Thanks again for the app.

I have the same problem. I've imported a private key that is in OpenSSH format and attached it to a connection. Authentication fails and falls back to asking for password. The same key works great when using Bitvise on my laptop.

Might have to do with version of Android. My original HTC Desire with 2.2 won't work. But my Transformer with 4.x works with the exact same key.
