I just got the phone today me and fiance both got same phone we were told our area had 3g coverage i contacted tmobile support and the tech stated it is not availabe he actually suggested we seek another carrier anyone have any suggestions to getting better quality signal and data...
Since you bought it from Tmob you should ask and get the unlock codes for free and also should be opt out of the early contract termination fee as well because it was not your fault about the coverage area. Don't let them push you around. Stick to your guns that the tmob rep said you would have 3G and yet you do not.
Check with ATT and see if they have better coverage in your area. The G2X can work on ATT networks as well but you would have to do some research on the settings and etc.
Thats my two cents if your gonna leave Tmob and keep the phones.
As for getting better reception or data signal theres pretty much nothing you can do to make it better if the towers aren't there.

Agree with all that, maybe you can get the phone as a Standard rate plan, which they don't offer with smart phones. You can then use it wifi all over the place. And when the merger hits, you might get better reception if they can share antenna....though some say the G2x will not work on any 3G ATT signals.
thanks for the responses
Yea ive been searching around seeing if there was a fix or noticable difference in rooted pre gb releases for better sig/data strength and such i even caled tmo when i got home and spoke with tech rep and he suggested that i just return devices and go to a diff network I felt that was a horrible way to represent the company. Didnt even try or make a feeble attempt to troubleshoot just blew it off to ah well you dont get 3g in your area so to bad basically.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the G2X only works on the 1700mhz 3G band. ATT does not use this band so he would be stuck on 2g, which is exactly the problem he's having with tmobs now.
well i should have gone further in to detail
The issue is in the store i was told that i would be in a 3g area once i got home i was only staring at the letter G on the highway i had 2G but at home now even outside I am at G and tech on the phone said i was in 2g area then proceeded to tell me i should look in to another company problem is ive tried verizon which is incredible service horrible support and sprint which had great customer service but horrid service I can travel to mount vernon and data roam.

Hmmm you might be right and i have to retract my statement cuz now ever since the phone was released it showed that it was quad band and had both bands for tmob and ATT for 2g/3g/4g bands and now LG says its not.
Even Tmobs site showed it had that capability. I'm reading into it now. Thanks for the refresh course.
No one suggested WiFi Calling? I use it at work and its awesome. Really cuts down on battery usage too. Plus WiFi Calling is now FREE on Tmobile so why WOULDN'T you want to use it at home or at work?
Beats paying AT&T for a $100 WiFi Extender and having it come out of your bank of minutes.
Plus WiFi Calling works over standard WiFi, so even at McDonalds it will work.
Of course this is under the assumption that there IS some coverage around your home. If there was NO service then I would probably just look elsewhere. If you can at least make calls in your neighborhood and calls, text, and surf the web at home (using WiFi Calling and WiFi) then that isn't so bad. Text messages work on any network grade. The only issue you'd have with a slower network is data. But if there is decent service "around" your house, then WiFi calling works wonders to make sure you are online around your home.
It would actually be kinda cool to reply on a WiFi router for service because at 10pm I could just pull the plug and cells go off. No kids texting at 2am.

No one really knows but Tmobile is releasing lots of "Quad-band" phones in the event the AT&T merger goes through. They've even stated they ONCE the merger goes through, they will unlock the other frequencies.
So while there is no absolute answer whether our phones are truely quad-band until we crack it open and actually test, it would be odd that it passed FCC, had it listed on the website, and touted as one of the biggest features... only to NOT have no such hardware.
Makes more sense that Tmobile just "locked it up" for now.

There really isn't much the csr over the phone can do. If you don't have service the person on the phone can't magically teleport a tower into your hood.
They offered you the chance to return the phone and get your money back. How else would you like them to proceed when they can't provide you with service?
Thanks all for the responses
Yea thats what ive been doing just got it set up to wifi in the house honestly out and about not that big an issue as i already have everything i need on the phone at that point unless its a game using data based connectivity which i can deal the phone in itself is just to nice for me to let go of and as for the last post honestly youve waited your breathe and I dont appreciate the rudeness really there is no magic tmo fairy to pop out of my ass and stick a new tower in my back yard gosh there goes that idea. but yea def love the phone testing out root lol i couldnt wait day 1 rooted and working on a good rom/kernel combo in the near future you can look forward to me buildling from aosp soon as this has been something i have been nearing for quite a while now just couldnt find a decent enough phone to dev on so be on the look out for the Triumph Rom coming soon to your neck of the woods.
I was rude? I thought I was just being logical and asked what you would have done if you were the csr.
I'm glad you are at least trying the phone out via wifi, 99% of the people here would have ditched it.
well if i mistook you i apologize
But i def would not recommend someone leave my business for another without prior checking thoroughly to see what other options there may be this guy spent 5 minutes on the phone with me he was in tech support and did no do any literally anything to troubleshoot why i was listed in a 2g area but only getting 1g was my big issue but honestly ill take this over sprint any day i cannot leave the house 5 minutes in any direction without data roaming so just pushed over dark and sin with faux kernel going to set it up and test drive I will be working up some gb roms once official release is out which from the reads i have found is only sometime soon. heres to hoping.
Went into T-Mobile yesterday and purchased a Sensation off contract. Got home and went online to get it unlocked.
Currently the phone is on AT&T and I can report that 3G / 4G service does NOT work. I know there was some talk about the phone maybe picking up the 1900 3G band - but I can confirm that is does not. It only works on the 2G / Edge network.
MMS / SMS work fine.
One MAJOR draw back to having this phone on AT&T is you cannot be talking on the phone and use data at the same time. This caught me by surprise when I was using the Google Navigation app and got a phone call. The map stopped updating until I got off the phone. I double checked trying to open a website while on the phone and it gives you an error message saying it needs a connection.
If anyone does plan to do this - know that you also have to manually put in the AT&T APN settings for internet and messaging to work. Just typing in the unlock code will allow you to place calls, but no other services work.
Another annoying part is there is a T-Mobile app that updates all your contacts with their servers. This is constantly trying to update throughout the day. The program isn't able to be un-installed at this point either.
I called AT&T to give them the IMEI number. They (obviously) don't recognize the phone and register it as a non-smart phone. At first when she said that, and also told me my unlimited data package would go from $30 to $15 I was happy. As soon as I got off the phone with her and reset the phone, the internet wouldn't come back up. Had to go in to an AT&T store to get it all fixed. They had to put the IMEI of my old Inspire 4G back on the account to get everything working again. So - don't call AT&T with the IMEI =)
So - would I do all this again and spend $600 bucks. No way - its not worth it. The phone itself is nice, but I feel like I just got tossed back in time about 15 years with this incredibly slow internet and not being able to "talk & surf" at the same time. I've put the phone for sale online
Take it for what its worth
Having only Edge connection speeds just kills the entire experience on any phone regardless of how hardware/software advanced it is. Don't you guys have the Inspire? With all due respect, why would you think the Sensation would even work to it's full potential on an entirely different 3G network? Just wondering why you would set yourself up for such an expensive let down? Again no disrespect, just wondering.
It's still within 14 days . Just return it and get your loot back dude. Thanks for experimenting and posting your results for the community. You've done your part please go return it!

There was talk that even though the phone didn't have the 850 band - it may still work on the 1900 band. No one knew for certain (at least in the posts I have read). I read online about other makes of phones that were able to get 3G on just the 1900 band - but the Sensation doesn't seem to.
It's not a huge let down - and the money isn't wasted. I have 14 days to return it, granted with a $50 fee. So it was worth (to me) a $50 experiment to perhaps get a better phone than the Inspire - not to mention its quite a bit smaller which is a huge bonus for me!
Wy did you ever do this? The sensation with at&t 3g will be released on July 5th thru Bell in Canada and already many major import sites are taking pre-orders. It's also confirmed that the bell version will be bloat free and have pure HTC ROM on it.
It's just money man! With a return policy and able to pick it up 2 blocks from my house it was worth the gamble! If it worked on the 1900 band, I was golden. If it didn't, I'd return it or sell it on craigslist.
I imagine the Bell version is going to sell for ~$150-200 higher online because it has the 850 band - supply and demand on that phone will be quite high as compared to the T-Mobile version. I'll most def. keep my eye out. Do you have the name of the website that is doing pre-orders on the Bell Canada version? Not finding anything online.

I hear ya... Worth it to try if you can get a full refund. This is the site I pre-ordered from. The price is high but will be worth it. AT&T service is WAY better in my area. I only get edge on T-Mobile @ my house or I would consider jumping ship.

You could have gotten an SGS2 for about $150 more and had 4G speeds (21MB) on AT&T and used the same dumb-phone data plan. There's a guy with an SGS2 on T-Mobile U.S. in the SGS2 forum getting EDGE too. What's the point of a high-end phone that's dependent on data on a low-end network?
WOW!! $899.99 for the phone. That is A LOT man!! I could keep the Sensation I have and use it on 2G only - and have 450 bucks in my pocket. I have an Inspire sitting here next to the Sensation. Inspire is on "4G" and the Sensation on "2G". In real life tests - it takes about 1.5 seconds longer to open a website such as CNN.
The more I use the Sensation - the more I like it. Its quick - the screen is fantastic - and I'm learning to enjoy having 2G because my battery is lasting quite a bit longer than the power hogging 4G service.
This may not be a bad thing after all....

Correct me if I am wrong - but isn't the GSM bands the exact same on both phones? The only difference is the UMTS spectrum which is for 3G / 4G data. I was under the impression that the voice services of the phone (ie: making phone calls) is always done via GSM.
Edge at your house via T-mobile - don't you have a wireless router the phone would connect to anyway?
(I'm starting to feel like a sales person for the T-Mobile version now - this is scary)
You do realize that it may still work on the 1900 band, but your area is in 850 towers right?

I'll def. be on the lookout for the 1900 band to see about 3g connectivity. I live in Phoenix, AZ.
Ended up getting rid of the phone and waiting for the Canadian version with 850/1900
Too much money to spend on the phone with such limited capabilities. Could never get it to connect to 1900 MHz 3G from anywhere in Phoenix all the way to Tucson.
Wow is it really worth it to cough up 900 for a sensation? That is alot. I always looked to import a NAM version of smartphone to utilize my media net plan. I will have to just wait it out for a Nexus 3 maybe. I love tech but paying 900 for a phone is little out there for me.

Can anyone tell me the apn settings for att mms? I updated with what I found in Google, but mms still doesn't woek.
I, for one, really appreciate taking one for the team. I was also curious as if it would work on AT&T's 1900 MHz band. We already know the 850 MHz wasn't listed.
Just an FYI, the only phone that works on 1900 MHz (as well as AWS) is the Vibrant (I have it now). If you're wondering if your area has 1900MHz coverage by AT&T, you can always use the Vibrant as your benchmark. I keep a Vibrant around just for this reason. I love having a phone that works with both AT&T and T-mobile 3G.
For those criticizing why not wait for an AT&T version: because some of us are interested in phones that can work on both GSM carriers here in the US.
Vibrant is confirmed, not sure about Galaxy S 4G (or really a Vibrant 4G). Of course there's the Nokia N8, but it's not an Android phone.
Some of us were excited to see if the T-Mobile HTC Sensation 4G will join the ranks.
Just so you know, the restocking fee does not apply to cancellations, only phone swaps, unless its defective, then its fee also.

I wrote up a little rant about how virgin mobile is better in so many ways. check it out. you will see why you are the smarter ones.
http://androidforums.com/motorola-triumph/426738-why-we-laugh-contract-phones.html
VM != Sprint though. Thus our coverage is limited. That and other companies are starting to roll out somewhat comparable plans, like T-Mobile's $30 plan with unlimited-ish data, which resembles Virgin Mobile USA's unlimited plan too. Not that we're throttled yet, but still.
If one could deal with the slow slow data, then I'll say yes its a good deal. I was a happy Virgin Mobile customer t'ill I discover the world of 4G and I have never looked back. I also save money by not having the need of home ISP (comcast) 4G hotspot is more then one needs to run my laptop and PS3.

True that. I miss my tmo service. There 3g is 2x-3x faster then Virgin. Nexus Prime here I come!
What exactly is their faster 3G known as then? As I understood ut Virgin Mobile's CDMA Rev. A was the fastest 3G available, without being prematurely labeled as 4G.
Anyway, I doubt where I live in Hicksville WI will be covered with T-Mobile's 4G, whatever it really is.

Not sure what you're insinuating but Virgin Mobile's 3g is a joke compared to any of the 4 post paid wireless carriers. That includes sprints, which runs off the same network but at a lot lower speeds.
For me personally, one of the major reasons that I hate dealing with the major players it that they treat their new customers better than the existing ones. For example I got an email today that I can get the Thunderbolt for $0.01 today on Amazon. But if I am an existing customer, it would be $120 if I am an individual, and if I am part of a family plan $180!!!!!!!!!!! I mean really is that any way to treat loyal customers. At least with a prepaid service I know that I am not getting screwed.
just so everyone knows i would like you to know i changed my prl to sprints 00115 i think and i am also running 3g turbo charger and i am getting 1.2~1.5 kbps on speed test. so just an fyi with a little work your phone can be way faster than tmobiles 3 g network. you just have to be willing to spend a few hours working on the phone. =)

I too was a prepaid guy trying to make arguments on how great prepaid was, and how much of a sucker post paid is. Till I started envying all the great phones I was missing out on, and noticing how much slower 3g on Virgin was as to how much better it was on Sprint.
I don't think Sprint's 3G is faster than virgin mobile's 3G. I think it's the phone that make you feel the speed difference. If you move to Sprint and get a better phone, your web pages will load much faster. I used to have Sprint with the TP2, then switch to VM with the Triumph. I can tell you that web pages load much faster on the Triumph. I also ran speedtest and I got similar results from both.

The problem with Pre-paid and Virgin and others like Boost is this : If you travel the phone works like a turtle, if you are in a big city where they have coverage then you are ok.
So, in other words, if you do not leave a big city where you live it works just fine, but if you have to travel all over you are ****-outa-luck buddy !
It would be nice that was not the case, but since I have to travel from Hawaii to D.C I know what I am talking about I've experienced it.
So, in some cases Virgin is fine........ in my case......... it does not perform.

What up Oka. I hate this phone and service. Its almost "Prime" time, and wll be partying it up with you and the rest of the EDT boys.
Lol, makes sense. VM is marketed towards people in big cities, who already have computers and wifi.
This is probably with the hope that the people who buy the phones, just use them on wi-fi and rarely, if ever, touch their mobile data except for calls (which are limited in the plans anyway) or texts (which cost VM essentially nothing). Maybe that's why they decided to put on the bandwidth cap... there are more country bumpkins taking advantage of their coverage between major cities (like I do).
AT$T pulled a total jerk move, and passed up our region entirely. There's no T-Mobile store in the area, although GSM Tracfones used to work.

That's exactly my point. It's the phone. Not the network. In my case, both connect at the same speed but the Triumph seems much faster.
I am one of those people that rarely touch my data plan because I have wifi everywhere. Also in the areas where I don't have good cell signal, I use GooVeIP to still make and receive calls. I know its not for everyone, but when I look at even getting the Droid Bionic for a penny and then the fact that I would be forking out almost over a $1000 more over the 2 years for less min. I just can't do it.

and that is the reason why throttling and bandwidth caps came into existence.
I could live with a bandwidth cap if I freakin' knew where and what it was. I also started ogling the unlocked GSM phones after discovering T-Mobile's plan, although really I feel somewhat "locked-in" now that I've spent $300 on a Triumph.
Locked in like a two-year contract with a company that knows where they can find me? Hardly. But still, a little locked.

So I bought a Samsung Infuse off Craigslist. I love it, it's awesome. I use the Simple Mobile $60/m plan. I previously had a Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant before the Infuse. I used to run CM7 but used Bionix 1.31 as my ROM on my Vibrant. So I'm familiar with the ends and outs of this technology.
The Situation: Samsung Infuse running latest "unofficial build" CM7, flawless performance. After doing much research as to APN settings on Google and XDA I found that the internet is wrong with the APN settings for HSPA+ on a HSPA+ capable phones. I called Simple Mobile yesterday and we did an OTA (she spoke I listened) configuration of the APN and it's full of IP addresses nao. She said that will allow me to access the "4G" network. The thing is, it says "E" for EDGE at the top for my signal....consistently.
The Problem: The EDGE never changes, also according to various speedtest's I can't EVER break .50kbs DL speed off of WiFi.
So I tried switching out various modems that we're available to me for the Infuse via the CWM flashable's. I've seen NO IMPROVEMENT on data speeds after each modem.
So what exactly is the issue: Am I doing something wrong via XDA material? Or am I just ****ed on HSPA+/4G speeds?

You are right and WRONG all at the same time...fascinating isn't it!
Simple Mobile does in FACT use T-Mobile Towers, however; before I rocked the Infuse I've seen other speeds that read 3G/H. The Simple Mobile Network offers 4G/HSPA+ with the $60/m plan that I am currently on.
So with that information, how would you explain that a phone that is HSPA+ capable and programmed correctly that sits on the EDGE network and still doesn't break .50kbs DL speed??
I spoke with customer service at Simple Mobile and several other Simple Mobile retailers that told me up one wall and down the other that the Samsung Infuse programmed correctly should FLY without WiFi, this phone should act like the rocket it claims to be with data on the network.
Instead it is slow, sux and is worthless without WiFi.
So how come you tell me one thing, and several people that work for the Network and people that are affiliated with it tell me another?

I own a business; I know about selling. But according to my research, your a little or alot off; I just can't exactly prove it.
I know that AT&T offers 4Gish speeds (true LTE in like 2 cities in TX), and that T-Mobile offers 3.5+G-4Gish speeds.
I also understand the concept of up-selling, however that scenario does not apply with my current plan and situation.
Has it, or has it NOT been documented ANYWHERE that an HSPA+ capable phone on the $60/m Simple Mobile plan achieved true or realistic data DL speeds off WiFi?
I am no tech or anywhere educated in this topic. But why are you comparing network speeds with your wifi? Or am I missing something here?

I'm not using WiFi as a comparison, just as another option for higher DL speeds. Off WiFi I've seen snails crawl faster than my data can move.
I just want to know why I can't get anything better than **** with this great phone and supposedly "reasonably-good" network.

So i suggest u sell ur phone and get a tmobile phone or switch to ATT. Next time when u buy a phone, insert ur Sim card in and test the network before u pay

The phone was NETWORK LOCKED when I bought it, so I guess I suppose I'm glad you we'rent with my when I bought it lol.
I'll take into mild consideration that a multitude of people may not be aware of alternate existing networks.
The T-Mobile phone I had before licked ****ing sac, my buddy has a Captivate that OVER-SHINED my Vibrant any day of the week - So No, I won't buy a phone from a company that's supposedly being bought out BY AT&T.
From previous quotes: It seems that we are implying that ONLY a T-MOBILE BRAND PHONE can access the 4Gish HSPA+ speeds that Simple Mobile network (that uses T-Mobile towers) and not an AT&T branded phone.
Yes, it's true....the above DOES in fact sound stupid when I put it on paper. AT&T and T-Mobile use the same towers and Simple Mobile/Metro PCS (some other un-explained networks) use the SAME towers.
So how is it, according to posters: That replacing AT&T phone with T-Mobile garbage will allow me to acquire the DL speeds that reference HSPA+/4G speeds. AND NOT, under any circumstances is it possible for an AT&T phone that uses the same towers to get the same outcome?
OK, the last part really does sound stupid, I feel like I'm arguing with a mockingbird. Anyone else have any further to offer?

Actually I re-read this statement. AT&T don't use the same bands, something about T-Mobile uses 850 and AT&T uses 1700.
Would changing the band selection make a difference? How to if possible?
I think u can only change the APN, not the band, the band is hardware, not software. I had the same problem trying to use my Desire HD on tmobile and couldnt get anything more than edge. I did also ask questions here and all i got is the answer i told u. So sell ur phone asap, dont wait until its price drops more

Word, posted on Craigslist and I suppose I'll get an HTC Sensation. Thank-you for your recent clarification.

Will straight talk sim work on not "straight talk phones"?
Which cheapest phone of straight talk I have to buy to get their SIM-card?
I know they selling GSM and CDMA phones and don't want to buy wrong one.
Flat Out answer only the 2G or EDGE bands in the phone are compatible with ATT networks the other bands are different so if you want bettter speeds get att or use wi-fi because edge is all you will ever get no matter what you do to the APN
like on the previous post mentioned, i think most of the att phones doesn't have the radio that is capable of receiving the 3g/4g frequencies tmobile use. i could be wrong, but i think is a hardware problem rather than a setting you can change.
Simple mobile is Tmobile, 3g may never work.
Strait talk is a variety of carriers, depends on,the specific phone. The only known phones that work from the att network and have a Sim that works in other phones are the expensive Nokia smart phones. But those also have a Tmobile variant, I don't know how to tell the difference without looking at the Sim.
There is also consumer cellular, apparently that,is att but I don't know if it's full talk text and Web or how it's billed.

Consumer Cellular is VERY "no-frills" - it's only for VERY light users.
There is no AT&T phone that I know of that supports the 1700 MHz band required for T-Mobile 3G.
The only phone I know of that has pentaband HSPA+ (works on both AT&T and T-Mobile) is the Galaxy Nexus.
When I programmed my HTC Evo 3D i saw various optinos for cdma/eg/4g in CDMA Workshop & QPST Service Programming, what I saw was diferent types of bands and freqz, you might wana check out a phone's specs of tmobile and then check if those specs (frqz & bands) match with the one set on your device...
For example
The Vocoder settings
band prefferences :
band class 0/1/2/3/4/5/ sys a/b/
GSM DSC 1800
GSM extended 900
Etc etc.... check with the device's password on it's profiles and realms (settings I can view on my evo using ##data# )
I can confirm that the issue is with the phones. I just ran a test using my simple mobile card on an AT&T Infuse vs Tmobile Vibrant 4G.
AT&T Infuse
Edge connection with 50kps max
Tmobile Vibrant 4G
3G connection with 240kps max
I will be going to staright talk at the end on this billing cycle.
Need to vent here. Have ATT / Infuse unlimited data plan, etc.
My signal sucks and i live in city center los angeles
i have to use a hacked up microcell in order to get that to give me ok boost but still not what it should. In my house, without microcell I get ZERO bars..
Unlocked my device a few days ago (easy thank you forums for one click)
picked up a $10 PAY AS YOU GO sim card at TMOBILE.
Reset Factory / WITH Tmobile number SIM card inside and lord or lord...
FACTS:
--- FIVE BARS EVERYWHERE AND ANYWHERE! NOT ONE SIMPLE HICCUP OF SERVICE.
--- DATA speeds on TM registered as EDGE though I am going tell all truly, its not. IT IS 4G + more. I have been testing and getting D/L speeds (w/WiFi off) of 15-18MBPS
Mind you, this is consistently when phone is on TM
--- More FUN....market instantly downloaded TM stock apps (obviously thinking its their phone) though there is a problem here. TMOBILE grants my phone FULL TELENET GPS SOFTWARE 24/7. --- ATT charges $10.00 a month for their crappy version.
---- More FUN x2 - TM grants me a full FREE unlimited use of QIK video chatting. No software restrictions. AT&T charges you I believe $5.00 a month to have the extras, on a network that it really doesn't work half the time.
How good is the VIDEO chatting & Mess? ITS AWESOME, ITS FAST & ITS QUICK no waiting no hiccups, etc. etc.
When I transfer ATT SIM back in the video chatting software remains full unlocked though its nearly useable.
I now have to come to believe that ATT is truly the problem. the phone explosed with power + fun on a network that can handle the infuse + or allow it to be run as a killer phone.
As long as ATT remains on delivery its wireless customers the worst mobile service ever, sadly most infuse users will never get to see the push & power that really is inside the INFUSE.
while att makes more money than ever, continues with the mega-mergers back and forth over and over - passing the billl 9 rate increases on to its customers.
THIS HONESTLY IS INEXCUSABLE. ---
though on a good note...the phone rocks on TM just for reference.
No issues here.
Running off MIUI Rom
Uhhh correct me if im wrong here, but AT&T does not charge for the use of QIK does it?
Sorry, this is bull. I worked for Tmobile for a long time and i'm familiar with an HSPA+ network, and in order to even get near those speeds on an HSPA+ 21 device you'd have to have the utmost prefect network conditions on their
AWS band.
AT&T has no AWS band. Also, you'd be hard pressed to find even an HSPA+ 42 device on Tmobile that would get those speeds. A device seldom gets near the theoretical max unless you're in a testing zone with no congestion from other users and no issues with interference, signal propagation, etc...
You'd only see those speeds on WiFi with the Infuse, unlocked on Tmobile's network, else EDGE speeds would be around 50kbps or less.
If you want to prove it, take a speed test with the Ookla app and post the screen shot here.

att doesnt pass bill rate increases unless the customer upgrades plans. you are entitled to the contract you siged with the old provider and in many cases you can renew it seemingly indefinately. i know people with basic phones that still pay cell one bills.
also you must live in a very good city for t-mobile. att rules in my area though mos people are brainwashed into having verizon plans. we got h+ here and i get 10-11 mbps down. verizon is lucky to get 1mbps and often falls back to a 1g symbol on some phones.
as for t-mobile, in my area it is very spotty. sounds like you found happyness with them and so do many others, more power to you guys, if t-mo was viable for me i'd switch but it's not. though the h+ on t-mo with the infuse sounds sketchy and the speeds are the only posible utmost perfect scenario.
i believe .15-.18 MBPS but 15-18 naw.
just look at the screen name. tells the whole story.

Do this. Load a custom ROM and change wireless settings to 2G networks. You will have 5 bars wherever you are, even on AT&T.
Curious about this myself, I pulled out my old T-mo prepaid sim I keep as a backup for when my contract is up, fired it up, and tried using some data. I got EDGE speeds in a H+ area with T-Mo. T-Mo has faster EDGE than AT&T but certainly not the speeds you're claiming. Not saying what you said was BS but it is either location dependent or my Infuse just sucks. Then again, I get about 8mbps down 2 up on AT&T where I live...

\also a previous tmobile slave
everything he said is correct
(at the time i had regular 3g (samsung captivate) and my speed test would often beat the top speeds of the tmboile devices instore.
The OP's name is bogustbaxter, obviously just someone trying to get attention. Good job. I don't think tmo allows unlimited video chatting, they have data limits like anyone else, it's not possible to get those speeds, etc. This is dumb. It should be closed
U want unlimited go to sprint...only true unlimited data around...was with them 5 years til this year when I swithced to att cause I fell in love with infuse....came from evo 4g(awesome phone btw)...but their plans for data are the best I ever used...speeds are compettitive in my area...they don't cover as well as att tho...

Sprint is also going to be ending their unlimited plans. Its also a shame Sprint's data speeds are awful in comparison to Verizon and att.

Amen to that!! I have been with ATT since 2004..i am testing different modems as we speak. I wonder does anyone know is there a way to know what modem is best for a certain area?? I searched and searched ATT and NEVER get anywhere. I don't even know and can't seem to find out what typical speeds should be for me. I live in Northern CA. about 8 miles from town...there is actually an ATT store here that offers NO help. If the weather is right, wind, clouds, and if i stand on one foot and spin MAYBE i get like on average 1.60mbps down. the highest i have ever gotten is 4.00 ...thought it was a fluke. I am on my 4th modem to test. UCKj1 seems to be better FOR me than KK1 (aweful), Ki3 (ok), and Ki4 (not so much).

The real problem is, what carrier has good service and support? Have friends on all major carriers and they all stink. The best one of the bunch is Sprint who has crap coverage and 3g only around my area. Best thing about then is the 10 bucks a month they tack on for having a 4g phone that does not get 4g, what a joke! I see lots of ATT slamage but I don't see what make the others any better. Ok they have the slowest feauxG of all but that is LOTS better than charging more for nothing.
