[Q] how to make wine able to detect usb devices? - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Hi, I want to got a windows tool works on ubuntu 9.10. It's used to communicate with the modem of my android phone. So I decided to use it via wine. But the tool just said it can't find usb port. What should I do? BTW, my android phone start up with two modes. When connector was plugged in, just the modem was power on, so it was detected to be a usb-serial device on windows. And if power on the phone, it was detected to be usb device on windows. Any ideas to support these two modes on ubuntu via wine?
Thanks a lot!

[Q] Root one phone using another phone

I just had an idea. I know you can root some phones using ADB and I got to thinking. All android phones have an ADB daemon running in the background that you can connect to through usb on your pc using the ADB client application provided by google(adb.exe) and usb adb drivers provided by google.
Now that you can turn your phone into a USB host using USB OTG, wouldn't you be able to use your phone instead of a computer? With a Micro-B to Micro-B USB cable? Someone has already ported the ADB client to android(ARM-Linux ELF). So someone would just need to port over the drivers to android, and then we could connect to adb on one phone using another with a terminal emulator. Right?
What are your thought?
I have attached the adb and fastboot clients that were ported to android. (adb-fastboot for arm)
EDIT:
I found this for raspberry pi (which is arm based):http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=6130
So after reading a bit more it seems that the drivers aren't even needed. They are only needed when using ADB with windows. But, since Android doesn't use "udev" I don't know if or how android would recognize that another phone is connected.

Windows phone as host

Dose any one know if a windows phone can be hooked up to another phone via otg host usb adapter and run odin or update the android phone in anyway

Windows 10 installs latest drivers automatically. I don't know if Windows 7 will do the same.
It's not uncommon for the problem to be on the PC side.
Try to uninstall and the drivers, update OS and clean your windows system. Then connect the phone and let Windows install the drivers.
For ADB connection you need either Huawei or Google drivers. Depends on Huawei model.

I have this problem on my windows 10 but not on my windows 8 laptop. The fix is to manually update the installed device driver software. That is assuming you've previously installed all drivers or windows installed them for you.
If you connect your phone to PC and put it on file transfer mode. But nothing comes up do this
Connect phone to PC.
Right click start menu
Click device manager
Expand portable devices
Under portable devices you will see mtp device or
You should see your device eg H60-L04
Right click. Update driver software
Browse my computer for driver
Click Let me pick from a list of drivers
It should show you a couple of drivers. Like MTP / MTP USB device. Just pick another from the list and click next.
Hopefully this works for you

Can't connect to PC

Can't connect my 2 XL and 3 XL(both pie august update) to PC(Windows 10). They only charge. There is no notification. Nothing in Device Manager on Windows 10.

Different laptops

USB 2.0 and 3.0
Can anyone please help.
Thank you!
Sometimes my Android phones would not be recognised if there were some old Android phone drivers installed. So I had to remove old drivers in the Windows settings and let Windows automatically reinstall drivers when plugging in my phone again.
Don't know if this is the right direction also for you, as in your case literally nothing is working, but you still could give it a shot.
Instructions on how to uninstall a driver In Windows can be found here:
https://www.pcworld.com/article/246041/how-to-uninstall-drivers-in-windows.html
Just look out for a device name that could match Android phones. For example 'MTP device' or 'ADB device' or something, and uninstall those drivers, and then plug in your phone in 'File Transfer Mode' again and see if something changes.
Hope this helps.
windows 10 and it's drivers and updates are too buggy! Please use linux live USB, doot from it on your PC and try connecting your phone to it. I am sure that will work and issue is in your OS and not in your phone

Windows 10 USB Driver Issues

Upon connecting my Nvidia Shield K1 Tablet (2017) to my Windows 10 machine I get an error:
"The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it"

First thing I did was enabled USB debugging in Developer Options, Set USB Configuration to MTP, swapped cable, and swapped USB ports
I have followed the instructions at https://developer.nvidia.com/gameworksdownload#?search=SHIELD Family Windows USB and keep getting the error:
"The folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible software driver for your device. If the folder contains a driver, make sure it's designed to work with Windows for x64-based systems."
Click to collapse
I have also attempted to use the "CodeWorks-1R8-windows_b181" aswell which seemingly installed the same USB drivers but still same error.
ADB Devices and Fastboot Devices do not show any devices detected.
My phone is getting detected using same cable, I don't understand what else to do other than find x64 Nvidia Shield USB drivers but all the resources point to either of the 2 softwares above. Is my only other option making a Linux Mint bootable?
Other System Info:
Windows 10 Enterprise
AMD Ryzen 5 2600X
16GB RAM
I have made a Linux Mint USB bootable and installed ADB/Fastboot and still it will detect my phone but not my shield. I'm just using some Galaxy S7 cables, Ive seen on other forums that the shield is picky about cables for data transfer but could that really be the case? I'd test it but I don't have a premium cable laying around
