Hello guys,
Unfortunatly 80% of internet tells HTC LEO (HTC HD2) will come out with android.
And 20% of internet tells it will come out with WMobile.
Unfortunately I think Wmobile is the truth. Bcuz preorders are showing an Wmobile interface on the pictures.
My question is, can we put android 1.5 or higher on these devices?
Peace
Fortunatly, it'll be WM
Hi, I don't know where you heard that HD2 will come out with Android but from the first beginning, it has always been clear that HD2 will be running WM.
Don't wanna troll, but I would say .... FORTUNATLY !!! Just to show people what a windows mobile 6.5 device with capacitive display and snapdragon processor can do !!

The confusion may stem from....
the fact that the Snapdragon "platform" is going to be used for many devices, there are a few nice previews of 1ghz processor equipped Android phones out there.
http://www.mobilechoiceuk.com/News/Acer+announces+first+Android+Snapdragon+phone/4133
If you ask me its all good, the more they sell, the lower the unit cost, maybe we will see cheaper WM / Android on Snapdragon in the not too distant.
Also, the 1.5Ghz Snapdragon appears to be in the pipeline too.... cant wait.
MS
Where
I really wasn`t joking guys, maybe I get other links than you in Netherlands.
But most sites still claim its android build.
Anyways, I aint got nothing against WMobile.
I just want to know if there are already people trying to port it.
Thanks in advance.
Peace

Htc hd2 - gps
Hi,
Does anyone know what kind of GPS the HTC HD2 has (gps-enabled processor with internal antena or gps-enabled processor with a-gps support) and if it is capable of running software applications like iGo, Navigon or TomTom?
Yes, it is pretty confusing, but correct me if I'm wrong:
1. When reading specs of a cell phone and says it has/supports "A-GPS", I assume that that phone has a gps-capable processor but locking onto satellites it is being done through the Internet connection (it probably connects to a site that will tell the phone the position of the satellites) and it does not have a dedicated "com" port and "baud" rate. The navigation applications are simple and cheap (mostly based on Google maps). A good example would be the iPhone that has A-GPS only. A dedicated navigation software such as iGo or Navigon (even Tomtom) would search for a "com" port and "baud" rate so it won't work with A-GPS-enabled phones.
2. When the specs. of a phone says Internal GPS or Dedicated GPS, I assume that that phone not only has a gps-enabled processor (like above) but also has an internal antena that will help the device to lock onto satellites without Internet support (a-gps). A dedicated navigation software (iGo, Navigon, Tomtom) will work on this device because it has a "com" port and "baude" rate required for those applications to run. So, if you are in the desert, you don't have cell phone signal but enough battery, the gps will guide you out of there. Shortly put, with GPS enabled phones (not A-GPS or Q-GPS, etc) you don't rely on Internet or network signal (signal triangulation) and you can run professional navigation softwares.
So, what kind of GPS the HTC HD2 has?
I have read that this replaces the Thoth 100 but PDADB.NET still shows the THOTH coming out this quarter. Is the THOTH still alive as a separate device?
The HD2 should have a real GPS chip. as in Internal Antenna. Will take a heck of a time to lock to the satellites, tough, 10 minutes at first run. That's why A-GPS is useful (Quick GPS).
Well Said. WM forever!

Well said Thomas! Also to all others, the best thing about any windows mobile is that you can always see and check what is happening in the background or what the CAB's contents are (meaning super customisable), Android, i-phone and many others are data collecting freaks who wanna know what populations are thinking and doing. In my opinion, windows mobile Os is number 1 and always will be (check whats on ya pc.lol) second is Symbian Os! I'm sure all other mobile Os's appart from windows mobile has developed themselves using Symbian ideas!!
How do i get garmin xt to work on my Galaxy s. I cant seem to find anything in the forums.

Garmin Mobile XT not support the Android platform.
I thought the garmin phones were android??
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App
The Garminfone (aka: Nuvifone A50) is Android.
The M10 & M20 are WM. The G60 is Linux based.
No one has ripped the mapping out of the phone yet.
I have my Garminfone 1/2 rooted. I can assaure you the maps are locked to the IMEI of the phone. I've already located my own map unlock code hidden on the phone.

How about just extracting the Garmin app, not the maps (I already have the Garmin map, but no app to read it on Android) ?
Also, what's the location where the maps are stored? I already have my maps, so I want to put them in that location to be read? Pls apologyze for noob questions
hmm..most of us are waiting for the garmin to be ported into our android devices..i think what we should do right now is patient.i also already have the keygen generator that i`ve used since i`m using symbian n winmo phone..the question is are the keygen could be use or not..and it is also for the map that u`re talking about...
The maps in a Garminfone A50 are in the .System directory (it is hidden) the A50 and the US spec Garminfone can read any Garmin maps so far, and work fine with lifetime updates, kg apps and the like!
I just wish Garmin would have made the Garminfone a little more robust, like waterproof, faster, and with better battery life. it is neat, but wont replace my NUVI 550.
I have for the Past 9-10 months been with Three in the UK using a Sim Free Xperia X1, however because of the Merger between Orange and T-Mobile, orange have stopped providing a Back-up network service for Three customers in 'Black Spots' I have spoken to Three and they have allowed me to Terminate my Contract 8 Months early, this is where my dilema lies.
Iam stuck with either using Orange or T-Mobile as other carriers do not get a good signal at both my Work and Home post codes.
So with my network chosen i must move onto handsets;
I have narrowed my choice down to 3:
- Nokia N8 (Symbian^3)
-HTC HD2 Rugged (WinMo 6.5) (Comes with d3o Case, Stylus, extended battery)
-HTC Desire HD (Android 2.2)
Iam automatically tempted by the HD2 as i have been running NRG's line of ROM's on my X1 since I bought it and I believe you can Dual-Boot with Android.
Or do I go with Trusted Android or experiment with the N8, whose hardware rocks and Nokia have said that they will continue supporting it for the forseeable future.
Price does not come into it as all three cost roughly the same on a 24 month Orange / T-Mobile Contract.
Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I don't believe in Nokia since my first N-Gage phone..
so it would be HD2 or Desire HD.. if you want smooth Android ONLY, choose Desire HD.. or if you want something more than just Android, choose HD2.. I'm currently running ported buld from Desire HD..

Ive not attempted to run Android on my X1, but with the HD2 having better hardware is Android smooth?, can I access the Marketplace? Do all of the functions like Bluetooth / Camera / Internet work?
What about the new Sense.com integration with the Desire HD, can that work on the HD2?
Or Perhaps can I run WinMo on the Desire HD?

Hello,
I'm a very new xda-forum member and also a HTC DHD user.
It is my first Android mobile. The only problem/limitation I can
report is: Android in normal release cannot use WIFI Proxies.
I used it on Symbian, knowing it for iPhone and Windows Mob.,
so I was surprised that Android cannot do it. When you need
it - be carefull.
WBR peschi
I just got rid of my Symbian s60v5 phone and I would NEVER go back to a touch-screen Symbian device. It's laggy, not user-friendly, it crashes (especially when you have 1gb of data in the phone), it's incomplete (on a 2009 phone I didn't have countdown timer & stopwatch), and it's a pretty hard work to configure internet access in all of the phone (maps, mail, web, video streaming etc).
Take my advice, DON'T BUY A SYMBIAN unless you have nerves of steel)
2000++ quadrant is quite fast, I think.. not yet overclocked..
Always download from market, using 3G connection.. I can track my phone via htcsense.com using new sense from desire hd.. anything else?
sent from my Leo on Desire HD2 using XDA App
Nokia N8 is better than both of them.
Android of corse!
The number of devices suported is very limited:
* Google Nexus S
* HTC Desire S
* Sony Ericsson Xperia neo
* Sony Ericsson Xperia pro
Strange decision for skype with only this devices suported ....
Unfortunately video call not suported for my Galaxy S.

http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/30/skype-two-way-video-calling-comes-to-nexus-s-desire-s-xperia-n/
same here, no video on galaxy s..
anyone knows how it identifies the phone? maybe if you modify it's identifier to nexus s it would work?
We need the guys that worked on the Netflix APK to take a look at it. I'd love for this to be on my sensation.
Oddly it doesn't work on the Nexus S 4G.
also now has a running service that doesn't let u close the app.
what is with devs that think their app is so great that you shouldn't be allowed to close it and it must remain constantly running?
Maybe change ur build.prop, like the nerflix app
Please hack this application !!!
could the magic combination be the latest Gingerbread + FFC?
One of the advantages to the latest Ginger, if I recall correctly, was native APIs for a front camera (until now, apps had to be coded for specific camera devices- that's why some video chat apps only supported some hardware).
Are these maybe the only devices running the latest Google update that happen to sport a front camera?
Start hacking! From the skype 2 apk:
Code:
{white:[{name:"HTC Saga", mft:"(?i)HTC",
board:"(?i)saga",
model:"(?i)HTC saga", product:"(?i)htc_saga",
device:"(?i)saga"},{name:"HTC Desire S", mft:"(?i)HTC",
board:"(?i)saga",
model:"(?i)HTC Desire S", product:"(?i)htc_saga",
device:"(?i)saga"},
{name:"Nexus S", mft:"(?i)samsung",
board:"(?i)herring",
model:"(?i)Nexus S",
product:"(?i)soju",
device:"(?i)crespo"},
{name:"Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo",mft:"(?i)Sony Ericsson",brand:"(?i)SEMC",board:"(?i)unknown",
model:"(?i)MT15[ai]", product:"(?i)MT15[ai]_.*",
device:"(?i)MT15[ai]"},{name:"Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro",mft:"(?i)Sony Ericsson",brand:"(?i)SEMC",board:"(?i)unknown",
model:"(?i)MK16[ai]", product:"(?i)MK16[ai]_.*",
device:"(?i)MK16[ai]"}]}
Where's the .apk? Would love to try this out on my Flyer.
Just occurred to me- Nexus S 4G isn't working. Nexus S GSM unlocked is.
Maybe the reason for these specific devices is Skype still has some kind of contract with Verizon for Droid video calling?
I recall Skype video on the Thunderbolt being an exclusive Android offering which VZ apparently paid for. Maybe Skype is allowed to offer Android for other non-US carrier affiliated devices? As far as I know, none of the phones offered are available through a national carrier here, and all have a front facing camera and the latest Gingerbread OS. Maybe I found the pattern?
Anyway, that being said, unlike the thunderbolt version which was heavily tied to that hardware, I bet we can crack this baby open to work on other Ginger devices at least!

Some of the SGS Fellows got it working on their phones... Would it worth to try?
Thanks to theos0o for the work around...
Leave feedback for him!

Yes, you can try it on other devices running 2.3+ with front-cam.
See if it works
doesn't work on Gtablet funning cm 7.1 rc1
One user reported it's running fine on SGS2 too!

From what I recall, Gtablet and CM7 don't work together nicely on the camera side of things.
Maybe try Vegan GE? I don't have it installed now to check.
That was with cm7 not cm7.1 rc the camera issues were resolved.
BTW I have the same error as the atrix guy
Maybe you could try the older build, but chances are it won't work too.
How do i install this?
