Best rss reader in wm - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

Can you guys help with a good RSS reader for windows mobile?
Pulse for Android is amazing...but i'm strugling to find a good one for WM. RSS HUB is very primitive...
Help.

Speed Reader
You may subscribe to your feeds using Google reader, and use "Speed Reader" for winmo, it's a Google Reader client for winmo
search for it @ (freewarepocketpc dot net) it's free

I don't think there is an RSS reader for WM that is visually enhanced like Pulse reader.
You can try for instance Egress, SpeedReader, GoTouch, Newsbreak, SmartRssTouch. I have used all of them for a while and from my experience the last two (Newsbreak and SmartRssTouch) are the best - stable and easy to use. With rest I have got few issues, like Egress looks nice but is laggy and freezing while updating, with SpeedReader I could not log on and GoTouch, which is nice visually but does not display feeds correctly.
edit: forgot YomoMedia Reader, you might try it as well, though not my cup of tea.

I have tried all the free rss readers which can be found on the net and final come to
Yomomedia , this is best one you can trust & worth to use.

Maybe it sounds strange, but i found that most comfortable for me for reading rss is opera mobile. It's simple and ... err.. ok, comfortable

The best pdf reader...

Hi guys!
I just bought an HP 514 with Win mobile 6 smartphone... can you help me to find out the best pdf reader for wm6 smartphone?
Thanks!
I convert my PDFs to RepliGo
I convert all my documents and pdfs to RepliGo format. It is the easiest to use on a small screen and document compression is the best. You can print to a RepliGo document on your PC. You can also convert web pages to RepliGo format and it will auto resize large pages to fit a standard document size. It has a text search. The reader on the pda is less than 400K. The reader is free for Windows, PPC, Smartphone, Palm so if you have to share a document you can share the reader.
http://www.cerience.com/products/pro/blackberry/index.htm
hard to say what is the best but there is a reader from adobe itself and i also use MobileXpdf.
Repligo has a big disadvantage.. you dont have your desktop pc with you if you get a mail with a pdf attachment
Where can I download MobileXpdf for WM 6 smartphone?
I can't find it surfing the web...
dont remember where i found it. google found it here for example:
http://www.mirrorservice.org/sites/download.sourceforge.net/pub/sourceforge/m/mo/mobilexpdf/
havent checked this, if you dont trust that source give me your mail adress

foxit reader = bet pdf reader on the market.
the projects address
you can download mobilexpdf at
http://www.mobilexpdf.blogspot.com
or by going to
http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/mobilexpdf
PS: when foxit will be better than mobilexpdf, i'll eat it! and by the way... don't you have to pay for foxit reader (mobilexpdf is free/opensource) so not the same category...
(sorry for my english) I will try mobilexpdf, (thanks for your work gciochina). I have tried Foxit and I have uninstall it 5 minutes later. I think that we dont need a pdf reader for see little parts of a document with images, etc... For that we have Adobe Reader LE or PDF to Go, or... but a reader that extracts text from pdfs for read it like .txt or .rtf, .doc, etc... and that it allows that we pruned to read pdf ebooks without any previous transformation.
A couple questions about Adobe Reader LE
1. How do I associate .pdf files to the Adobe Reader LE? The .pdf files have the default icon for unassociated files. I tried using Resco Explorer to associate them with the Reader using "Open with". But... I get an invalid path error every time I click any .pdf file.
2. I got Adobe Reader LE 2.0 from the Extras.zip from one of the 6.0 ROM, is Adobe Reader 2.5 available in the newer ROMs?
Thanks...
another vote for the latest version of mobileXpdf. I'm using it on my HP iPaq 510 and it works great...

Ok... I was testing the new Foxit pdf reader Beta, but was annoyed by the banner that reminds one to register it. I installed MobileXpdf 0.0.6.0 using the cab available at SourceForge and I like what I see. I noticed that it was a little slow. The source for the latest version 0.0.6.2 was available, but there was no cab file availble just the source. McHale, do you know where I can get a cab file for 0.0.6.2 as it "might" fix some of the performance issues I noticed.
Thanks...

I'm using 0.0.6.0. They update CONSTANTLY so 0.0.6.2 or newer should be available soon.
The reason it is slow on your HP is because is the phone itself is slow. It takes me forever to edit contacts and do other simple things...
But, slowness aside, I really like the HP 510. For someone who isn't a power user of Windows Mobile applications besides the basics, it is perfect.

MobileX is better than adobe. Thanks. But personally pdf's just plain suck period on my shadow. I installed acrobat pro just to convert pdf's to html which works much faster. Foxit in ANY shape sucks balls. (try pdf-xchange viewer)
A tip for those using adobe reader le version 2.5 to read pdf files
To make the text fit to page and great to read, try adjusting the zoom level to 100 % or 105% using the plus or minus buttons [or from the menu], next click on 'tools' [ bottom left hand corner of screen], select 'view' then select 'reflow', the result should be an improved layout of page info and text, the only thing is you will have to go thru this process everytime you open a new pdf file.
'Reflow' in Adobe reader was the clincher for me - it officially does everything I need a PDF reader to do.
Opens large files quickly
Reflow for easier on-screen reading (reading that technical manuals that I do needs some level of formatting retained)
Rotate for landscape reading
It's fast (I quickly got sick of MobileX's "Rendering page" message)
I only wish that the reflow option could be set up as a preference...
I'm chuffed that I finally found a way to carry lots of books around with me in a readable format!
Adobe Reader LE 2.5
Hi
Add another vote for Adobe Reader LE 2.5
Cheers
andrew-in-woking
Adobe Reader LE 2.5 is pretty fast.
It would be even better if some one could find a way to disable the splash screen and improve loading time.

Viigo - FREE, very nice rss reader app for WinMo

In case you guys haven't heard of it... Much better than Google Reader through PIE (my previous reader solution).

I agree, I think this is a great application which is still being developed, but Microsoft has already featured it on their main Windows Mobile site. A friend of mine actually works for Viigo, and I can tell you that they do have a great team of developers who I'm sure will continue to make the program better.
Installing it and managing your feeds is a breeze, and the program just looks ultra-sweet. Hard to compete with Egress, but I currently have both on my PPC right now, and prefer to use Viigo for its clean looks and usability.

RSS reader - recommendation?

Can someone recommend a good RSS reader for the FUZE / WM6.1?
thanks.
Does the Fuze not come with an RSS reader (RSS Hub) like the Sprint Touch Pro?
If not, then i'll recommend pRSS Reader. Very nice freeware.
http://prssreader.en.softonic.com/pocketpc
RSS Hub is the best.
Beyond Pod
It does RSS and Pod Casts. I don't think it does Viedeo Pod Cast though. It is free and is easy to use.

I like this so far only issue is it does not seem to download the story headline pics... Is there a setting somewhere I am missing?
also is there a way to get it to launch opera when i click a link there web browser stinks
I wish Google Reader worked better on the Fuze. Google Reader owns all RSS feed readers.

Just use the iPhone version at http://www.google.com/reader/i/ using Opera instead. For those on the Fuze, make sure that Opera is not using the MEdia Net proxy (uncheck http and https proxy in the proxy section of opera:config) and that the proxy is not enabled for MEdia Net (in the connections manager). The proxy screws up the Javascript so no stories show up. After that, it works just as well as it does on the iPhone.
I use Newsgator Go ... syncs with my desktop and the web so I can access feeds where-ever I am and not get confused as to what I have (or have not) read...
RSS Reader
I have used Insight (SPB) for the past year or two with no issues both on the Fuze and Tilt. You pay money, but stability and useability is good - especially on a cooked ROM (ROMeOS).
Try viigo.com.
It got more than RSS feeds.

Um, on the Raphael, Opera is the default browser so BeyondPod will open in that. If you are not using a Raphael (Touch Pro) device, you can go into settings in BeyondPod and configure for the External Browser.
Google reader only, it's awesome
RSS Reader
When I had my Tilt, the RSS reader I used was Garish Kernels. It was on my home screen and would update every 10 minutes or so. Is there a similar program that I could get on my Fuze and have it on a TF3d tab? or better still on the home page? All the ones I've looked at so far, I have to put on my programs tab, and manually run it when I want it to update.
i could sworn on the HTC Wizard WM6.1 ROMs there was a TF3d tab for RSS. Anyway to get a plugin for our home screen?

For people with google reader accounts, you should use SpeeedReader. Its pretty solid. Check it out!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=516168&highlight=SpeeedReader
I love newsgator.... online service and pda phone service as well....only downside is their PPC software isn't touch capable so you have to use the scroll bar .... but a great reader...easy to use.
Gotta agree on the Newsgator, always synced with my [email protected] and my workstation at home, so I'm not bugged by the same news over and over again
I must say I prefer pRSSreader. I've tried most of these and never found one which suited my needs: downloading pictures/podcasts for offline vieweing (such as before train journies).
I did try Egress 4.11 and that was an excellent application, but i found it crashed too many times when loading a lot of pictures from a news feed, when selected.
So, 'pRSSreader' is my vote! It downlaods everything you tell it to for offline viewing and sync's with Google Reader during updates!
As a shameless plug as well, I have made a pRSSreader icon modification set for my Touch Diamond as I was bored with the rather drab looking icons it comes with.
Check it out at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=528643

Any RSS Reader for my Pocket PC?

Dear all,
I am running a Samsung i780 with WM6.1. I'd like to be able to read some RSS feeds, and have had some success in the past in using the free pRSSreader. That worked really well, but there is a feature missing that I would really like to have. I'm hoping that someone here might be able to recommend a suitable reader.
The problem with pRSSreader, was that I'd read postings that I thought were interesting and then flag them to read later. However, the program wouldn't keep them for later - instead it would ditch all the postings irrespective of whether they had been flagged or not.
So I'd like a way to either make a favourite posting list or save postings that I think are interesting, so I can read through them again at a later date.
Any ideas if there are some readers on the market with this functionality?
Many thanks,
Tom.
There's one called SpeeedReader that's worth checking out if you're a Google Reader user -- it hooks into your Google Reader account so your desktop and pocket feeds stay nicely in-sync.
The only problem is that it doesn't support finger scrolling and can be a bit crashy (at least on my Kaiser).
Thanks for the suggestions!

I went for YomoMedia Reader in the end, as it allows one to save
interesting posts whilst on the train and since its a web app (with a
PPC application), you can then view them on your PC in their full
glory when you get into work!
Cheers, Tom.

Good PDF-reader (not Adobe Reader) that fits the text nicely on the screen

I'm sometimes reading books in my mobile and I'm looking for a good PDF-reader who reflows the text nicely so it fits the screen. Adobe Reader isn't really good for it because I have to scroll left/right all the time and that isn't a good reading experience really.
So recommend me a good one guys
Foxit Reader works great for me and is really the only viable alternative. It costs a few $ though but is totally worth it. Reflow works although i prefer to just zoom on columns when reading pdf magazines.
I just tried it, it works just as I wanted it to. Thanks alot man

Actually, if you use the Adobe Reader LE 2.5 CAB that's floating around on XDA, it will include an option to reflow text. If not, there is the Foxit Reader that you just tried, or you can also use PocketXpdf (personally, I like this better than Foxit).
+1 for PocketXpdf!
