I'm currently trying to theme the rounded lists found in apps like HTC Mail and People. From what I found, there's a transparent "mask" that makes up the top and bottom graphics -- it's basically what makes it round. The graphic is mostly transparent and only blocks out the corners to make them round. What I want to know is if the part that sits under that (meaning in actual use when the app is running) a simple white graphic file or a color setting found somewhere in some XML file.
It's weird because items towards the middle of a rounded list do have a graphic file (it's just a 1x1 white square) that makes up it's background. So I can make items in the middle of the list look good but that leaves the top and bottom (or if there's only 1-2 items on the list, the entire list) as simple white.
I really hope that theres a graphic I'm missing or else the lists are just gonna' have to stay simple and uninteresting.
I think I might know what you're talking about but I'm not sure. Can you post a screenshot to reference?
Check out THIS THREAD. The corners are square in the screenshot because he had the wrong png's in there, the 2.2 message boxes do have rounded corners. If that's what you're talking about then check rujelo's post.

hi ppl.
i want to know how to remove a coloured bar that displays on the homescren by default. i am attaching a screenshot of my homescreen for your reference. the bar displays where 'Hutch' is written i.e. where teh operator name shows.
secondly, is there any way to make the top and bottom bars transparent so that any image covers the entire screen, but retains the icons n text (eg. edge icon, contacts field, start menu etc?)
anyone ?
You need to modify that theme. Upload it and I'll do it. It's located under ApplicationData\Home\xxx.scheme.xml
thanks pal. i am attaching the 'simple home' xml and a screenshot of same.
i would like the following things to be edited:
1. no top n bottom colour bars (should be transparent to take colour of any picture i put as wall paper)
2. no colour bar where it says 'Hutch' (operator) - same effect as point one.
3. Would it be possible to reduce the font sizes too ?
thank you for your precious time and patience.
Here you go.
Oh, it is not possible to remove the bottom.
@frauhottelmann
yeehaw !!! thanks a ton pal. the home screen looks real cool.
don't want to overstay my welcome but is there anyway to keep changing the lower bar colour ?
theres a software called base hue express. that changes the bottom bar colour. but i dont think it can make it transparent.
In home screen settings you can choose Color schemes (only basic colors) otherwise you would have to modify the theme again!

*built for 2.5 however i've had no trouble with it in 2.6, though the other stuff for 2.5 thats posted in the blackstone forum doesnt seem to play nice.

if anyone has more information please post it as i had a search and couldn't really find much.
Hi. I searched but couldn't find anything. So, requesting that someone create a morph for the Nexus Notification Overlay icon ic_notification_overlay.9.png, in /system/framework/framework-res.apk.
This is the reddish orange overlay icon for notifications to tell you how many you have. I took the stock one which is 24x24 and reduced it to 20x20 so that we might actually see what icon is behind the big red blob notification with a number.
I am not a morph maker or I'd do it myself. However, I did edit the framework-res.apk from my phone with the new icon and push it. As you can see it looks a lot better.
New .png attached.
Thanks.
edited. Didnte realize the count is per-app.
I dont like this red dot either ..
Well, I'm either not doing a good job of explaining it or everyone's just not into it. In case I'm not doing a good job...it is the exact same red circle as stock, just made smaller.
When you get a notification in the status bar that shows a number of how many new you have, there are 3 layers. The icon for the app, Tweetcaster in this case, then on top of that the red circle, then on top of that is the written number of new messages/tweets/etc.
With the circle at stock size, it completely covers the icon of the app that has the new updates. So, you'd have to pull down the status bar to know what the red circle with number is for. See first upload, "+" and Tweetcaster are covered. All I've done is reduce the size of the red circle so that the app icon, the bottom layer, is partially visible, in order to be able to tell what the alerts are for at just a glance.
It might not even be worth it now because I had to change the size of the circle to 24x20 to make triple digit numbers of alerts look good.
....Or like I wrote, no one cares, which is cool. No biggy. Thought I'd share.
cool I got it.
Made a morph without the red dot myself
Thanks for clearing that up. Heres the morph.
Thanks, guys, for fulfilling the request and editing the posts about how ugly I made it. i get the confusion though. Looks much more orange on the computer than it does on the phone
This post is for Anders, as it's the simplest place I can post the images for viewing.
When I select "dot paginator top," regardless of whether "show desktop indicator" is on or not, after using an application like camera, the icons are shifted over ever so slightly. The bottom icon tray strangely enough is not.
This is with versions 1.0.0 and 1.0.1.
Here are the screenshots. 1-3 show the graphical glitch.
Definitely with the beautiful widgets screen, it cuts off the right side. On the shot with the google search bar, the search bar itself is pushed over (it's usually centered perfectly). Same thing with the last image which has a switchpro widget.
The 4th one shows the normal screen with the google search bar. Comparing it with the first image, the icons get pushed slightly closer together and down to the right. I can't tell if they are shrunk any.
Again, this occurs not when ADW first loads, but after using certain programs. Camera is the one I can use to reproduce the bug each time.
i'm just about losing it here and i'm willing to look into any sorta input i get...
i've trying to skin a qvga theme for 6.5.5 (build 23569) to get the background in black and the text in white, sort of the opposite of what the current look is in WinMo...
i've searched all over xda and a ton on other pda sites but i kept drawing blanks and heading into dead-ends...
i just need to know how to get an effect similar to what is achieved here or here
but instead of a gray shade or partial blackened areas, i'd like it all to be a solid black color with white text...
the only option that i can see left for me is to build up a theme from scratch but despite of the tiny few tutorials posted here, the all crucial part regarding the background color is still shockingly missing...
so...anyone??
