[ROM] - ShinoDroid 0.9.1 [21/08/10] - 2 branches - Froyo no Sense. - Desire Android Development

I've decided to release two of the ROMs I use frequently. These are pretty much the stock ROMs made by the respective owners; Adam G & Cyanogen, however i've removed some stuff that I never use.
I've added the apps+cache2sd to Cyan's ROM because it doesn't have it native yet, and I've also reintegrated Google Apps back in to save two flashes.
I symlink /etc/hosts to /sdcard/etc/hosts because AdFree can't update the file in it's default location due to rw limits on /system.
I've also added some apps that I always installed anyway, but i've put them on /data/apps so they can be easily removed if you want to.
There are two branches with essentially the same mods:
C = CyanogenMod
O = Open Desire
Current base ROMS
C - CyanogenMod 6 RC2 & DT A2SD+ v2.7.5rc2 + Google Apps re-integrated
O - Open Desire 3.4.2
Common features:
- ADW Launcher 1.1.1 as stock launcher
- Black status bar with custom full colour icons
- Icons patched in MMS, Market, GMail to work with black status bar
- "hosts" file symlinked to /sdcard/etc/hosts to allow AdFree updating
- Magic Smoke & Visualisation Live wallpapers removed.
- Amazon MP3 removed
- ProTips removed
- QuickOffice removed
- Facebook & Twitter moved to /data/app - allows easy removal
Addtional Apps - all installed to /data/app
- AdFree
- Facebook
- Twitter
- RomManager
- SetCPU 2.0.2
- Titanium Backup
- Quick Settings
TO-DO
- Optimize PNG's
- Build in interface colour change without having to import from sdcard
- Build in ADW settings
- Boot animation
- More sexy visual changes
- Make status bar battery percent less jumpy
- Fix SetCPU FC on O branch

nabbed for future use

I like the idea behind it, will give it a try. Its pretty much exactly what I did after I put Cyanogen RC2 cept I didn't bother with the App2SD.

Sounds interesting mate, I gave a look to CyanogenMod' ROM some weeks ago and I loved it, but I can't live without A2SD+.
Thank you.

Hmmm.. I've been waiting for old school a2sd in cyanogen.
Will give it a try (besides, you'll probably get me fired if I dont )
EDIT:
The cyanogen one worked nicely, abeit a tad slower in quadrant than OD 3.4.2
Not sure if adfree is working, as I'm seeing ads in things that I dont get ads in in OD
nandroided back to my modded OD, although I did flash your font over afterwards

Install went fine with no issues. Quite impressed with it. Good job.

I just flashed the cyanogen based version. Very, very nice; working well for me. But seems heavy on battery. Thanks a lot.

Strange, i had it running ALL night playing MP3's and its only dropped to 60%.
Also there shouldn't be any difference between this and the original ROM as i've not tweaked them power usage wise.

Did you add /sdcard/etc/hosts? It's present on mine when I flash, i might have to add one to the ROM to make the symlink work. Did it write one to your card?
The font rocks doesn't it

I just noticed that the battery indicator does not drop gradually; it drops in steps of 20%. After a full charge, it stayed on 100% for quite a while, and then it dropped straight to 80%. This led me believe the Rom was eating up the battery.

Ah yeah I noticed that too, I'm going to update the battery graphics today and hopefully fix that. I'll put a patch as well as a full build for both as I'm updating some of the built-in apps too.

I am waiting your rom based last "OpenDesire v3.5.0", but I prefer a Mod for only update AOSP.
Wait & see

I'm not sure if it did create a hosts file or not, guess I'm just used to dnlgee's hosts file that's in od
I've picked your rom apart, and made a zip that'll add the bits I want from it to flash over od (just the font and a few command line utils that are in cyanogen but not od). Let me know if anyone wants it uploading somewhere

I'm going to do 3.5.1 tonight, if I can get the sodding framework-res.apk to recompile after i change it, grrrrrr.

Here y'are, its "signed" but my first attempt at signing failed, so needs the verification turning off in clockworkmod..
(and its OD 3.5.2 now....)

Yeah u built a rom based on 3.5.2 last night and so far loving it. Have u compiled framework-res.apk and if so what did u use?

Lol, didn't do anything of the sort, just copied stuff from /system into a new zip. It doesn't (I hope) touch the framework at all.

This looks nice, will flash when I get home. Has anyone noticed that on all the roms with that launcher, the phone button isn't level with the others? Just something I saw
Great looking rom! Congrats on your first build. I use alot of different apps for work and need quite a bit of memory. How much memory does this rom start with after you flash it?
My other prob from previous build w this rosie was that when u hold down an app to move over to a different screen the words on the bottom get mixed in w other words.. kinda weird lol, not huge for me cause it doesnt affect my phones ability to operate but it does look goofy haha.. I love the outline of the app folders and stuff.. wish that was w every rosie

*(ROM)* SLIM Virtuous [16th Nov] - debloated & swyped!

First - huge thanks to team Virtuous - this is all there work, I have just debloated.
If Virtuous finds this offensive then please do the necessaries and remove this thread, it doesn't phase me, I just thought I'd spend couple hours putting this together for the average MT4Gs flasher
Having had great success with the VU ROM supplied in this forum, I decided to kindly post a version I am currently using - which has around 120mb of unwanted apps/media removed. (system partition comes to around 332mb rather then around 530mb which I had with the original VU rom.)
Orig ROM 376mb
This ROM 246mb (8mb of which are new wallpapers placed on sd - hence 238mb.)
(media is very slim, contains my custom mario notifications and only 2 ringtones: 'Crystal Silence' and 'Again & Again'.)
I have added around 8mb of wallpapers to the new /sdcard/virtuous_unity/wallpaper folder.... use gallery to apply
Removed majority of default skins & lockscreens - I use Honey HD or Slate 3D for skins & only want the basic lockscreen (no weather, clock lockscreen etc.)
The ONLY HTC Widget I included is calendar, as I have no need/want for the others.
Finally, I have no real need for flashy bootanimations, so I have replaced the ~8mb VU anime for a basic/lightweight one I could find (1.5mb droid b/w version.)
Instructions:
Ok, I like to retain as much of my data & apps prior to flashing.
I use MyBackUpPro to backup data (specifically, call logs, sms/mms, dictionary, bookmarks, android home, android settings.)
Similarly use Titanium Backup to backup (any newer apps/versions before flashing any new rom), then to Restore these apps with data post new rom flash. I find it takes you back nicely to the state you were at... that's just my way though
Do a Nandroid Backup!
1 I am running this on Modaco 4.0.0.9!........ I can't say if this will work on the newer/latest recovery as I am having issues using that recovery with any rom, so I can't help diagnose if it fails to install on that recovery for you.
2 Toggle Signature Verify (in recovery under 'other' I think) : Turn Signature Verification OFF (allowing you to flash unsigned .zip files) - this should hopefully be set to Verification OFF by default I believe!
3 wipe everything
4 flash this rom
5 flash the 2.39.1 patch (found in VU goodies link below.)
6 flash optional "Smooth_Scrolling_App_Drawer" update (I like the 5*5 app draw personally - 3 versions available...found in VU goodies link below.)
7 flash optional battery mod (found in VU goodies link below.)
8 reboot
9 Swype will be expired. You need to edit the build.prop manually as it doesn't stick when hard coding it into the roms build.prop.
You will need root explorer - Install 'root explorer' manually using filepicker/explorer where root explorer can be found here for installation 'sdcard/virtuous_unity/app.rom' folder.
10 Now open root explorer and navigate to the system folder, now mount R/W. Hold press the build.prop file and Edit in Text pad, down to around line 64 and edit ro.product.brand=htc_wwe.... by replacing htc_wwe with tmous this is case sensitve Save & Exit from this text editor.
Now 'Save & Exit' this file.
11 Now Power off the device
12 Battery pull!!!!!!!!
13 Insert battery
14 Power back on.
15 enjoy
(you will notice in the lock screen, of the 4 icons, the 2nd one defaults to Mail.apk - however, I have removed this from this rom as I am a gmail.apk user only - goto personalize, lock screen, wallpaper (current) and customize this default configuration.)
That's about it - Nothing major here - just a slimline VU rom.
I won't be supporting this per-say - I'm here simply sharing, providing MT4Gs users with another option
I will say that the force close that came with the original VU Rom - post boot up/turn on device (I'd receive a HTC Sense fc) on every boot up - however I'm not getting that on this stripped down version - a bonus I guess

If anyone has had success using swype.apk with the "Original VU rom specifically" - then please advise (how to exactly), as I have tried many routes to install (within rom & post rom flash) - but after applying within keyboard settings - I receive nothing but fc's for swype. (swype is only around 2mb, where as HTC_IME is around 8mb... hence this rom currently uses HTC_IME.apk)

But yeah 3.5 apparantly by end of this week I heard.
I'd self claim that this is the cleanest fastest rom we have. But try it yourself
Been running for 2 days, superb battery & no fcs no errors whatsoever. And that's the truth moreso then what others are saying every other day they update there roms, like 'its perfect, flawless, bug free' when really they are far from it, annoyed at what was going on, I chose to do this to VU, cos it works so well.
I challenge anyone to make this rom crash. Booooyaaaaaa

Just a couple things....
One putting a paid app in a rom and distributing it is a violation of rules here so you might want to replace root explorer with a free app like ES File Explorer (think you can edit the build prop with it)
Plus all you have done is delete a few apps and then post it as a ROM which would be wrong...I mean you just deleted a few sense parts...the Size of the ROM is not a big deal with an Android ROM...Linux and Windows run differently with RAM and space...but I really don't see why you post this as a new ROM you could of potentially just posted this in the VU thread and Chris could of put it in the OP if he felt was a need to post....I am not dogging the fact you can delete apps...although not to hard for anyone to do....

[ROM] BakaG2X 2011-11-20 (FINAL RELEASE (maybe not)) [2.3.3]

BakaG2X 2011-11-20 (Final 2.3.3 Version - OR IS IT?)
---------
NOTE:
--
Here is a pretty clean and basic ROM based on the LG 2.3.3 OTA.
It is designed for those who want a good clean base to do their OWN addons to, while removing more bloat than was added.
This is the FINAL release of BakaG2X on 2.3.3. I will also release a 2.3.4 ROM, but it will be offered separately.
WiFi Calling is included as T-Mobile's signal is horrible. Thank you.
UPDATE NOTES:
This version cleans up a few things in the theme primarily, and sets a couple of tweaks that weren't done before. Not a big change over the previous version. The only build available comes with Wifi Calling. If you don't WANT wifi calling, you can simply remove Kineto.apk from the /system/app folder, and I recommend doing so if you don't use it.
The biggest theme change can be seen on the notification pulldown here, and I've updated that screenshot.
As before, bloat is available in the various bloat packs. If you have downloaded these before, you don't need to download them again, there have been no changes to those packs.
---------
CORE BUILD FEATURES:
11/20 - ICS Animations (capez) - tweaked animation speeds
11/20 - Remove Battery Full & Battery Low Warnings but I LEFT the last Shutdown Warning..
11/20 - init.rc support
11/20 - Increased SD Read Ahead Cache to 3072
11/20 - zipalign new apk's on bootup
11/20 - new quick panel icons from O2X (smaller / textless)
11/20 - shell utils: bash/nano/sysrw/sysro (if you don't know don't ask)
11/20 - a few theme tweaks (notification ticker, carrier text, etc)
11/17 - Three Flashable "Bloat" packs. You probably want at least one. SEE BELOW.
11/17 - Google Talk with Video
11/17 - Google Music (replaces stock Music.apk)
11/17 - Toggle 2G Settings & Widget (TheMasterBaron)
11/17 - Updated Google Apps as of 11-17.
11/17 - busybox & su binaries updated.
Reboot/Recovery Menu (untermensch / sicopat)
Quick Panel Settings (dreamsforgotten)
Accurate Battery Mod
Removed LG Update process (was running all the time using ~10-20mb)
Updated Google Apps as of 11/15
CM7 Apps: Torch, E-Mail, Keyboard, Calculator, Sound Recorder
GPS Tweaks for USA. SuplRootCert added.
Misc build.prop edits (for gps/modversion/adb persist notify off)
Adblock Host file.
Theme bits (startup/shutdown/Roboto font/CRT Off/Lockscreen, etc)
Of course it is fully zipaligned.
Note: All Bloat Packs install to user applications, so you can uninstall bits you don't want.
- This of course means you'd need to reflash Bloat packs if you happen to wipe.
BLOAT PACK 1: Recommended Bloat
Titanium Backup Free (it will detect if you have Pro key saved on SD)
MIUI Music
CM7 File Manager
Battery Calibration Tool
Wallpapers / Ringtones installed to SD for easy removal.
BLOAT PACK 2: Bloat T-Mobile Thinks You Want
AppPack, Books, T-Mobile-TV, Polaris Office, My Account,
Magic Smoke LWP, Visualizations LWP, Telenav, Zinio
Tegra Zone, NFS Shift, Nova.
Bloat Pack 3: Something I want and you probably don't.
Japanese Samsung iWnnIME Keyboard
KNOWN ISSUES - BECAUSE I BELIEVE IN NO SURPRISES
- Bluetooth may crash upon pairing. This is fixed in my 2.3.4 Rom, Tsugi.
- Kernels: I have tried both Faux123 and DragonG2X. They boot & Run, but have their own known issues. Cannot support them.
- Lockscreen lag. This is an issue with any LG based ROM. Some report it doesn't happen if you use certain 3rd party launchers.
- Toggle2G will ask for root permissions on bootup, and be denied automatically. You'll see a popup about that that goes away on its own. If you want to use the app, just open it manually and it will bring up the normal SuperUser prompt where you can approve superuser permissions.
- Stock Camera. If you want LG-Cam, you know how to get it.
- On the FIRST BOOT, the Media process will sometimes FC. It does not do this AFTER the first boot, and it doesn't always do it.

Looks legit, seems like you've got all the bases covered.
I'd like to try it this weekend, give you some feedback.
And thanks for the little tidbits of info, didn't know Wifi Calling sucked up battery even when not in use.

It was horrible on my Vibrant. I think it has improved on the G2X, but still not perfect. It receives notifications on all signal changes, even if you don't have it set up to use. I'm not sure if it does that if you're not on T-Mobile... best to remove the APK if you're not using it.
Going to give it a try
Good to see a new dev on here. I'm going to back up my rom and give this a shot. Will post results.
Looks very nice. I love the transparent notification pulldown and those quick panel icons look sick!

Did you check the md5 hash? It appears at least a couple others have successfully downloaded it, but I'll double check it.
When you say won't install - what happens?
In CWM it says "Installation Aborted" right after I try to start the install. I redownloaded a third time from another site using Firefox instead of Chrome and it worked. I like what I see so far! Thanks.

Could be the window animation effect. It animates the lock screen going away.... didn't mention that in the changelog.

Its not the animation. I see that. Pretty cool. But the home screen comes on, then flashes black, then comes on again. Only happens on the home screen, no other screen. Oddly enough, when turn animations off it does not do it. But I run "some animation" and you did nice work yours. Hate to waste it. so far everything is very smooth and noticeably faster than im used to.

Ahh, the homescreen lag. Yeah, I've seen that on a number of stock-based Roms.. something is up with LG's code. I've seen it go away and then come back, no idea what causes it. Doesn't happen on Cm7/MIUI roms. But, I need everything to work, so I don't use those.

no rom that isn't based on cm7, will be able to run theme chooser.
Wow awesome rom!
A version of this based on 2.3.4 without wi-fi calling would be the perfect rom though. Please consider?
no kernel for 2.3.4 and he said you can uninstall wifi calling, if u dont need it.
Hey, thanks for answering my question directed at someone else!!
The reason I asked is because the base 2.3.4 is much faster and more stable and has gtalk video.

[ROM][3.VII.2012] Fr0zenHotDog-0.13 BEATS!

This im my first public ROM so please be helpful,I just started playing with android and I'm still learning. I missed times when Paradoxx was releasing his Hydrogen so I decided to make my own light rom.
Internet is back so updates will be coming more often
I used Lord Clockan's IceColdSandwich - all credit goes to him and big thanks to him for the great ROM, some tips and for letting me do this
This is essentially IceCold but lightened.
Fr0zenHotDog - 0.13 - based on ICS 8.2
MusicFX is back
Implemented BEATS! - AwesomeBeats by ...Awesome... huge thanks to him for letting me use his package. If you are on 0.12 or any other ROM than just flash this http://d-h.st/XU0 and link to the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1728499

I will finish this page later.....for now just few details about the package. This is essentially IceCold 7.4 but lightened.
Apex Launcher as default - set to 3 screens; drawer set not to show downloaded apps tab.

Roboto fonts changed (all of them, including BOLD)

Known bugs:
battery bar doesn't show up at all - my fault, I might have deleted too much, will fix that.
default wallpaper is not in line at the first boot - that was present in standard 7.4
I know it's not much but it's a start. ROM is only 113MB (40MB lighter). Next time I will try to make even smaller. Hope you like it:

I've been using LorD ClockaN's ROM for a long time now I'm a big fan of his work and effort that he's put into it, however.. a 'lite' version sounds great to me!
My layout on my phone, the way I customize it, is the exact same as whats in your ROM description. 3 home pages, no download tab in apps, the ringtones and notification etc... Thats all music to my ears brotha'! I hope he doesn't mind me using yours from now on, after all I now no longer have to change things after first boot Welcome to the scene haerigrek and thanks for making the world a better place. Hope you have lots of fun with it!!

Just installed the rom, so far so good. Runs smooth, as to expected since the base rom you use. Would like to know if you have any tweaks coming in next versions?
Keep up the good work!
Edit:
Just noticed the mail app is missing, on purpose?
Google search is missing: using the soft button doesn't work, adding the quick search widget doesn't work either.

Yes I'm using only the Gmail so the stock email app is gone. The search button may not work. As I deleted GoogleQuickSearch, there is no search application. I will look into that and if necessary the app will be back. I never used it so I didn't even notice.
For future releases I'm planning on even more set customization. I started deleting languages. In next release the apex launcher will be english only (or if requested maybe some other languages). I am also waiting for some faster launcher to appear. I like Apex a lot, it reminds me of ADW but with all the customization options it tends to slow down after some time. I was thinking about replacing the stock browser since there are some problems with it but Chrome isn't ready and I don't want to impose any other browser on you guys + 7.5 is on its way and the issues with the browser should be fixed by then.
I would like to ask which battery icon would you guys like me to leave. I deleted all of them which ended up with an error mentioned in the first post. I am willing to bring one back but I need to know which one will be the happiest choice for you. After all I am sharing this so you can be happier Cheers
I would suggest just a percentage (in numbers, nothing flashy)
Thanks for your effort - running smoothly at moment (apart from the problems you've pointed out yourself)
Look forward to next update

Thanks for support but I'm not developing, I'm merely modifying a great ROM to make it lighter to save space and maybe make the ROM run quicker.
It would be nice if you could refresh screenshots. I don't know how rest, but i like to see pictures of rom i am going to flash ;]
Btw. On first look, it seems quite nice.
This ROM looks like a cool idea! I just had a suggestion, I don't know if its in your "philosophy" of the ROM but wouldn't it be better if you left a little more stuff/everything in and let people choose what to keep or remove through Aroma.
For instance you can chose your ringtone at the start and not have extra ones wasting space or some people might want the stock sms and others might just prefer one from the play store.
Just my 2 cents

[rom] miui ics 4.0.4:Updated 7/20/12

i am proud to present my 6th rom port for the heroC.
changelog:
v1
- updated to reflect henry_01's 2.7.8 port
v1-1
- added quickpic (sorry about that guys, totally forgot it)
-lowmemorykiller tweaks are now in line with roms from jordfaz and 1ceb0x
-wallpapers and sounds are now added back in
-size of apks edited some to allow for the same sized rom as v1 but with all the sounds and images put back in
to start, im not gifted enough to know how to develop, im just a lowly borrower, so if i have nothing to borrow, i have nothing to offer
also i take no responsibility for your phone crashing and burning in an epic fashion, and/or if your cat jumps off your keyboard and makes your coffee spill on your lap, or war, or famine, or disease, or anything of the sort. try at your own risk, dont bother me if your phone blows up
dont give me any credit, give the following people mad props and donate to them if you wish to:
original rom link from wfs: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1735773
Henry_01 for his port (link above)
ajrty33 for porting the first MIUI ICS rom
erwinp for the youtube fix
stritfajt for getting the camera working
mongoosehelix and all the crew over at the eris forums for the base rom
1ceb0x and the crew over at the hero gsm forums for the init.rc tweaks and the minfree settings in kernel
dsixda and his kitchen
matt, dastin, jaybob and the heroc crew
zeppelinrox and his v6 supercharger script
im sure i forgot people, im sorry if i did and if i forgot you please yell at me and ill make sure to thank you
this is based off of 4.0.4, MIUI v4 for the Wildfire S
what works:
touchscreen
sdcard
radio (data and calls)
adb
camera preview and taking pics
bigger keyboard, more like gb
wifi
sound
buttons
audio
root
vibration
bluetooth
zeppelinrox's supercharger script (just to supercharge launcher)
video playing from sdcard (use quickpic and .3gp video format)
minfrees set in kernel at boot time
mms hopefully
usb mass storage
themes
youtube (non hd)
try messing with camera settings in camera app, i turned down the resolution from 5 mp to 2.5 and picture taking worked quicker and looked better in my opinion
works with problems:
long press home displays large previews, not sure why just yet
other stuff im sure
what i didnt test: (lol its your jobs to test it)
pretty much everything else
when you flash this, remember i did not sign it, so if your using clockworkmod recovery toggle signature verification
i recommend you go let this boot all the way, then reboot. then after that, go into settings-developer options, and click the tick box next to:
background process limit/ at most 4 processes
show all ANRs
and make sure animations are off
i turn off all vibration, except for notifications, that includes the keyboard as haptic feedback slows things down.
then use script manager to run zeppelinrox's v6 supercharger to bulletproof launcher
this is the gapps i use from eris: http://www.mediafire.com/?qbpc1zthauh4c1h
md5sum: 2b4d664eda701da65d2ea2c5c928267d
(this is the same gapps offered over at the eris forums, i just added geniewidget as i like my news and weather widget)
go into phone app, hit menu, then settings, and check your voicemail number, im on boost so mine is my phone number
this port will not:
most likely be a finished project
win a beauty contest
make your manhood bigger
if you see something wrong, please fix it or ask me to
and now for the link before i forget:
MIUI 4.0.4v1-1
http://www.mediafire.com/?hjvpm1t1w31bqgw
if you see problems or have suggestions, please let me know. i dont know much about MIUI, as i havnt used it much since ajrty33 ported it for heroc (gb and original ics roms.) so if you see something that needs changed to better fit the mold of a good MIUI rom, please do let me know.
happy flashing!
Nice work man, Nice work indeed=}

there are still theme issues im not sure of, im still looking into them. and i did remove the file explorer app, as most people just use es or astro anyway.
other than that it seems to be working fine on my end.

Whew, glad there isn't an issue with the browser. I'll redownload then, see if that helps, because I do have the music apk. Might want to take a look at the xda build of the miui file explorer, it has root and a bunch of other goodies, that's what I'm using on my incredible atm, looks great and works great too.
K ill take a look at the Miui file browser.
And this is an hdpi rom according to the contents of the apks. It came from the nexus s I believe so that could explain alot.

It's probably just me but I'm having root issues on this ROM. I have Superuser downloaded. I even flashed the su 3.0.7 zip (Latest SU zip I'm aware of) I'm rooted obviously or else I wouldn't be here. It's just on this ROM. I tried reflashing this 3 times. Other than that, it's a really great ROM. It runs very smoothly.
Sorry about the su issues, but I think its the way that miui implements su that gives us headaches. In settings somewhere, there should be an option for root access I'm just not sure where it is. I'll look into it.

Yeah I've look at the system settings and unless it's under a different name, I don't see anything that deals with root access.
so here it goes guys. im out of the game for now. expect no new updates on the ics roms i have ported before. jb is the future, and shelnutt is the guy to get us into the future. ics roms never quite ran great anyway, so no big loss. i may pop back up in the future and throw down on some jb paranoidandroid, aokp, miui, or anything of the such, but i cannot guaruntee a thing. its been nice, but support for these roms stops here. (unless of course, anyone else would like to take these over for me, or i can get the guys from gsm hero using my allinone installer full time, then heroc will have everything they get)
if anyone would like to take over, please message me. ill be more than willing to send everything your way, since im way too busy with life in general right now.
