[Q] Webcam - Hero CDMA Themes and Apps

So, wondering if there is any good "webcam" apps out there yet? Tried Qik, not exactly what I'm looking for even on the live stream... Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I think you may be able to use the Ustream Broadcasting app...or Fring for video chat

If you're looking for something that lets you use the phone as a webcam for your computer then look for an app called "USB Webcam" from Placaware in the market
It's a bit buggy but it's the only app of its kind (that I know of)

I use Orb through the browser. Works like a charm.

DROIDCAM...works absolutely perfect! This is by far one of the easiest webcam apps to navigate also...easier to setup then most of them.

Re: Surveillance Cam App
I am using IP Cam Viewer Lite and it works well with my Trendnet 312W.
It is in the marketplace and is free.
I use Tiny DVR. Its virtually the same as Eye See U on the iPhone, identical settings for viewing my IP Camera
Tiny DVR
Try Tiny DVR. Search Market or SlideME.
It looks like Tiny DVR does not support Geovision cams at the moment directly but you can add custom CGI request to your cam image there. Or contact the developer to do that for you.
for win mobile?
Ehm people,
there is an app promoted here in the forum, even on the same page of this subforum... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116764
And if you don't like this, you could try the one from "Securet" (find it on the market)...
Cheers, berkley

How to stream tv from pc to Evo?

I run windows media center (wmc) at home and was wondering how to push the tv feed to my phone. any ideas?
you might give orb live a try, it works most of the time for me with downloaded video on my pc. Supposed to work with tuner card also
I use OrbLive and works very well for me.
Yeah, orb is the bomb. You can stream audio, videos, tv, pics, and even your webcam if you want. Microsorb is a decent client for android. Don't think it has full orb functionality, but it works.

I tried the Orblive client to stream live TV, didn't work for me. Saw someone post to just use the normal browser based client and it works great! I am using Xscope as a browser, but I don't think it makes a difference.
Tversity works very well for movies you have saved to your hdd

I have read the letters DLNA in every review of Samsung Captivate. Does anybody know what it is? And or how it works. Any kind of information is helpful.

basically you can share stuff over a network or wifi to yer mobile device...that is what AllShare is for.
For example... I can stream (via WiFi) videos from my Windows 7 computer to my Captivate. I can also do the reverse and stream videos from my Captivate to my computer's Windows Media Player or my hacked WDTV media player.

I don't have a PS3, but if you have and want to try it over Windows 7:
For Windows 7->Captivate, you'll need to go to "Network and Sharing Center" and turn on "media streaming" somewhere in there. The files must be added in Windows Media Player's library. In the Captivate, select play from a server.
For Captivate->Windows 7, the Captivate's name shows up in Windows Media Player's left side. Click it and it shows the list of what's on the phone. In Captivate, just start All Share (nothing else).
anyone know how to have All Share NOT stretch the resolution of the incoming video and keep the aspect ratio of the file?

Annoying, isn't it?
In the actual "Video Player" app you can control how the video gets stretched - but not in the AllShare player. Why Samsung would choose to torture us like this is beyond me, but it makes me hate them so very much.
I will pay anyone who can figure out how to hack that size/aspect button from the video player to the allshare player.
Interesting....

I'm installing it just by clicking it in on the phone (not using adb) and it just says not installed. Any idea why? I will try twonky though, thanks guys.
EDIT: adb gives me "Failure [INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_NO_CERTIFICATES]" when i do this. My phone is rooted. Hmph.
EDIT2: I just tried twonky server. It works perfectly, i think its better than the samsung app, so i'll just be using that. Plus it look cool

Good question. I am a Ps3 play myself and although i have already managed to stream videos with my phone over to the Ps3....i am still curious about music. I may try it later and report back what i find.
How did you do that?

If your Ps3 and phone are connected on the same network then they should "see" each other fine. If you scroll down on your Movies category on the Ps3 you will see your phone listed there.
Well, I can see my phone in Movies, Music and Photos on PS3. I can even see the songs and the photos I have on my phone. However, when I try to play a track I get DLNA 2104 error. I can see the thumbnails of the photos but when I try to view it I get a "network error". Is it possbile that this happens because my Netgear router is not configured as an Access Point?

Oh ok. I got that same error as well. Basically you want to make sure that:
A) Your Firewall (whether its 3rd party or just windows xp/ vista/ etc) is set to allow your device (ps3/ phone) to stream and share files.
B) Allow "network and sharing" center's Discovery mode and "file sharing" within Windows (or whatever OS you are running).
c) Also tell your net-gear that your Ps3 and phone are allowed to share files as well. I'm not quite sure how Netgear has their firewall setup. You may have to open DMZ (wouldnt recommend it tho).
I think theres more....ill have to post back when i remember all my steps...lol
a) What the Firewall on my computer has to do with the connection between the phone and PS3?
b) Similar to a). It's about the phone and the PS3 not the computer, right?
c) I'm not sure how do I do that.

Comcast/Xfinity

Anyone have the apk for this app? Tried downloading from the market but it doesn't seem to work. Thanks in advanced.

It kind of works with your comcast.net email. I did see some things on my dvr but the tv listing are worse than tv listings for android. It still looks like a beta app. The real missing feature would be to at least watch dvr programs on the phone or on demand. I think they are redoing the tv side with hopefully a better system for viewing tv listings.

Still DLNA trouble

Hi all,
Recently i created a thread about some remote connections that were not really working out that well on the TF300..
Nobody gave me a response so i try it again ..
Somehow remote connections wont work properly on the TF300.
Unified remote and DLNA features wont work. Sometimes i can see my laptop and stream music to it but an hour later i have to reboot, restart apps, enable wifi disable, whatever to get it to work.
This problem is also in the unified remote app.
Now this can't be a problem on the tablet because my dad, with exactly the same tablet got exactly the same problems..
Come on XDA help me
Few things first....
My net app of Asus is crap... use bubble upnp
Don't use WiFi direct... it is not supported yet in jelly bean

So what do you think is the best app for DLNA playback ?
Bubble upnp

Upnplay : free from the market. Lousy interface, but fast and reliable. Has ability to have unlimited cache (=available memory) to load song and video listings.
I also often use J River Media Center (paid windows app) combined with Gizmo (free on market) on Android. That's the only solution which works fast enough with a very large (>100.000 songs) music collection. You need to leave your pc on and have JRiver running though, but it works great for all music, video & pictures that you manage on the pc through JRiver. Really, really fast.
