the WHOLE THING?!

Been using quickssh to do this prior. This looks nifty though. And a full and tunnel... one thing I prefer about quick is the password protection.

Looks real nice to me thanks

Thanks for the heads up! Also, poor cookie monster

Here's the app in case you can't find it on the Market

Genius application, found out about it a few days ago. VERY useful.

so.. I'm using android commander over wireless adb.. I'm moving the latest CM nightly (~67mb) to my sdcard.. it's been going for about 10 min now and there's no way of stopping it without killing a. commander or switching wireless adb off on my phone.. but I'm not in a hurry to stop it, it just seems like it's taking too long.
Any advice from an experienced android commander user?

this app isn't working for me. i installed it, ran "adb connect 192.168.1.107:5555" but it just sits there for about 10 seconds then displays "unable to connect to 192.168.1.107:5555".
is there anything special you have to do?

Try this: Close the app on your phone, then do "adb kill-server" in your cmd prompt then try it again. I had this problem a couple times but was able to fix it pretty quickly.
One thing I have noticed though is this is not a good way to move big files, at least not for me. Pushing and pulling a few apk's works fine but trying to move a new rom or nightly to the sdcard via this app doesn't work so well. It shows the sames signes you see when the push is in progress when connected via USB but it just sits there FOREVER. I waited 15 minutes on night for a 68mb CM nightly to transfer and ended up just stopping it. Plugged my usb in and had it moved in 30 seconds
It is a neat app though, if you don't overwhelm the connection then it works quite well. It's perfect for when you're making little framework tweaks and want a quick way to push the apk to test out your work

no-go. maybe it doesn't work on cm6?

Do you have USB debugging checked? I've also had trouble with other apps having USB Debugging Notifications checked..
I wonder if it could be a firewall issue with your router or PC. Also, no offense, you do know you have to be connected to the same WiFi spot as the PC you're trying to access it with right?

What app are you trying to stream with?

Yeah this is a real dissapointment. Their needs to be some kind of fix in the next update. Someone please cone up with a temporary solution.

Okay, I suspect this is unique to the sirius app. I have it, so I'll try to play with it and see what results I get.
Does it do the same thing on cellular data?
Have you tried running a logcat of the phone to see if there's log messages that might be a clue as to what's going on?
It's not free, but you can also use the WunderRadio app to listen/stream Sirius programming. I never had problems with that one.
PS. Maybe you should edit the thread title to show this problem is with a specific app or type of app, not wifi sleep in general.

I use Spalshtop HD daily. Never had any issues. I don't really put my PC to sleep, so I haven't run into that issue. You might want to consider contacting Spalshtop support about that one. As far as the app on my TF goes, it's never crashed on me. I just used it about 20 minutes ago. Have you tried uninstalling and re-installing? Are you sure you have your ports set up correctly?
thanks for reply,
ports have not been touched, it's default setting am using, what should there be?

I'm not saying you need to change any settings, but your router's firewall may require you forward a port for it to make a connection. For instance, I have my router set up to use port 6783 for Spalshtop. Not sure how I decided on 6783, it's been a while since I set it up.
maybe you using splashtop version on tablet and pc diffirent, you can try download or using another vesion on pc. It work to me

Check that both the client and server parts are right up to date is all I can think. Like others I use splashtop on a daily basis with no issues. In fact I think it's great. I have it running on pcs and laptops, phone and transformer and have never had a single glitch.
Oh actually there is one issue but I ignore it. When I connect to a freshly turned on pc and login splashtop loses connection right after login and then I have to re-connect. Anybody else have this?
thanks all for advice,
am using the latest splashtop on pc & also tablet. Funny thing is that itwas workin fine at first then started messing up?? wht about pc sleep issue? pc does not sleep (mode) when splashtop is running, i have to turn off splashtop. I thought the pc should sleep cos thats the whole issue of having wake-on-lan function?
av just realised...splashtop is crashing/closing when am switching between folders etc. So each folder it would close. When am playing a video it would just stay closed (instantly shut down) until i turn the video off on my pc, then is back to normal.
Would be helpful to know what you are doing when it is crashing. The only thing I use mine for is to do a botcheck in a game instead of keeping my laptop on my lap. I have never had this issue. Maybe it's something else you are trying to do. When specifically is it happening. Splashtop will want to know all of this when you contact them anyway.

What you are saying is clear, but it isn't a common problem. Since it appears to work for everyone else, there must be something going on with your particular setup. It could be on either the PC or Transformer side. Your probably not going to get a great deal of help with the PC side of things here. As far as your TF goes, what ROM are you running? Have you tried performing a full wipe and re-flashing your ROM? Are you even rooted?

I will admit that i installed the splashtop streamer on two of my computers, both windows 7 with similar software. One of them it works perfectly, the other one it constantly goes off and on, and good luck trying to connect to it. I figure there is a software conflict with something. I could never figure out how to blank the screen when you connect so I just switched to 2x remote. i have not tried the HD version either, though it uses the same streamer app. I would try removing some programs from your startup (msconfig) and see if you can get it to work better.

[MOD by APP] Nebtop - Universal HDMI Webtop hack

This MOD by APP is different than the existing MOD by replacing system apks:
1. No risk of brick
2. Ease of use
3. Universal hack for phones and ROMs that has Webtop
Since this app is intended to support multiple devices, see the original post from the Razr thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1404625 .
Please report the test result in this thread. Whether success or fail and your device, ROM, etc.
It'd be nice to use the "Send" option in the app if it failed.
Thanks!
Nice find! I hope this does work.

As a person who has used this!!!
Just a word of warning:
This app totally screwed up my phone. I installed it and was using it just fine for a couple of hours. Then all of a sudden, the phone becomes unresponsive. I unplugged the HDMI cable, and it rebooted. I didn't think anything of this. Just found it a little odd. Since then, any time I reboot the phone, it is reverted to the same state it was in right before the crash. The text message I had not yet read is re-received as new. All app updates are reverted. All new apps aren't installed. All new texts (since then) are gone. Apps are force-closing left and right. Be VERY careful with this app. I'm not sure it's really ready for prime-time, even now.
I know that you've experienced this a few days ago from my routine Googling but didn't know you haven't find a way back yet.
As from your original post, you were using Webtop at that moment and all in a sudden with the HDMI cable unplugged, then the phone rebooted.
At least a panic log is needed to verify whether this is related to Nebtop, or the stock ROM+Webtop.
As Nebtop has no listening of the HDMI cable plugging/unplugging event, it should had done nothing at that moment.
And your current state sounds like the file system is corrupted. If I have no way to fix this, I would try to backup the current state first, then try to revert to the stock. (not sure if Atrix 2 has any stock image leaked )
Finally, I'd like to help to identify the actual cause of the reboot, only if you could look up the kernel panic log at this location /data/dontpanic/apanic_console (this is the path for one of the Motorola phone, it could be changed for Atrix 2).

I already have the webtop mod posted by Fenny, what is the difference with this one? Does this one work through a runtime + mirror? It allows on screen touch and keyboad?
The feature of Nebtop is pretending the HD Dock.
The requirement to use Nebtop is a rooted phone.
The disadvantage of Nebtop is none so far, therefore the advantages are no persistence change, no intrusive modification to anything, no risk of brick.
Yes, like using the HD Dock, the on screen touch and keyboard is working by using Nebtop.

I haven't tried personally.
Nebtop could only make it work if it would work for a real HD Dock.

Phone manager was blank in webtop. I could see the tabs such as text messaging and adw launcher but no display. This was happening both when launching via nebtop and also via fenny hack. I did a phone restart and the problem went away so everything works perfect now.
The only other thing I noticed is the phone seemed to get extra hot, though the phone seems to run a bit on the hot side anyway so its probably normal.
One difference that I notice between fenny and nebtop is nebtop says connected to HD display and fenny hack says connected to HDMI cable. This is probably why the trackpad and mouse work in nebtop and not with the fenny hack.
Yeah, this and nebtop don't work for me. Nothing pops up so I can view my phone on my HP laptop. I did the adb push and stuff. No go. I don't get the option for Webtop.
At least, this is my understanding of this? To use it on your laptop without a dock-right?

S Voice APK

The S Voice APK was leaked so I decided to download it and try it. There are some downloads that aren't working as they keep giving parse errors so I found one that does work. Some things work and some things don't. I am trying to set up a custom wake up command but I'm guessing either due to some proprietary technology limited to Samsung or just because the APK wasn't meant for our phone, it is giving me a "Unfortunately, S Voice has stopped." error.
Hopefully this can be changed to work with our HOXs better. It does seem to be able to answer my questions so I'm guessing it is able to connect to Samsung's servers. Asked where I was currently located and it brought up a map and I asked about the weather and it brought up a weather forcast even though I uninstalled HTC's weather apps. So there's hope I guess.

Seems to have issues with wifi. If I have it turned on and go into the app, it only lets me do one command. Then I can press on the button but nothing happens. When I have wifi off, it works basically fine; albeit the voice is a little slow. Interestingly, I can turn it off before going in then have S Voice activate my wifi and as long as I don't leave the app, it works fine. As soon as I get out and go back in it stops working properly.

It works off and on. I had times it worked well with little lag, but also had periods where it would just kick off a network error or would FC. After clearing cache and waiting it would randomly start working again. It really isn't anything special though. It seems like it is just a skinned version of Vlingo. It also looks like it works alot kinda like Siri by using Wolfram Alpha.
Vlingo looks like they are beta testing a newer version of Vlingo assistant that has a wake up command option like S Voice. It only has a few options currently though

i'll try that.
pretty sure the network errors (not force closes) are due to samsung not having the servers ready for public use, and as such are turning them on and off on their end.
on a slightly related topic, samsung really phoned it in on the UI for this app, they basically ripped off apple's setup, if they were having issues with apple legally before, this app and design is not going to help.
i wish samsung would hire some competent and creative developers for their products.
Works fine for me once I uninstalled the stock voice app.

[Q] Hotspot on phone won't connect to android tablet

I'm not sure where to put this so I'm going to post it here but if it's in the wrong spot please feel free to move it, Mod.
Ok, I have a Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE (downgraded to 3G, no 4G in my area) running Android 4.1.2 that I use my Hotspot internet off of. I have connected it to just about everything, computers, tablets, and other phone and it has always worked perfectly until now. I got a Visual Land Prestige Pro 7D tablet running Android 4.1.1 for Christmas and for some reason my phone's hotspot won't connect to it. It says it is connected but when I go to use the browser or any app that uses the internet it never loads or doesn't work. Sometimes the signal even drops out and reconnects but never actually works. I did some research and it sounds like it might be an IP address conflict but I am not sure how to fix it. Some sites suggest downloading another tether/hotspot app so I tried a few. Some revert back to the original hotspot setting on my phone, which of course did me no good, and some just plain did not work, they did exactly like my original hotspot, connect but won't work. I have pretty much figured out that it has something to do with my phone's hotspot since my tablet works perfectly fine on other people hotspot or wifi internet. Can someone please help me figure out what is going on?! Thanks in advance!
Are you on the stock ROM? Seems to be from your post.
You've tried using the built-in tethering feature, as well as some 3rd party software. Most of the 3rd party programs will create an 'ad-hoc' network which typically only other computers can connect to. There's some threads around here that discuss how to remedy this on stock. Search around.

Yes I'm still on the stock ROM the phone came with. I have tried the built-in and 3rd party apps and neither is working. I'm really not sure to look for. I have tried a few different things including changing the IP address in my phone hotspot settings and nothing works.

I just tried to download the ISWAT Tether Unlocker but I noticed that it is only for rooted devices, I'm not rooted, and I really don't want to root it. Any other suggestions?
A phone w/o root is less than half phone.
BTW you can try foxfy or pdanet, the latter works surely, but at the price of a client installation on the PC side, and is USB/BT only.
I haven't tested the former

I have rooted my phones before but I like this phone the way it is for right now and I just don't want to go through that long process of rooting it.
I have tried Foxfi, it connects but like the others, the browser and app never load, but I can connect to any other wifi or hotspot and they load fine. From what I have heard Foxfi and PDAnet are the same, they even have a combined app. I have done some more research and it looks like maybe my phone or tablet, which ever one, is running adhoc (?) and either one or the other can't use that. Does that sound about right?
PDAnet and foxfi, are two apps sold by the same company, but are all but the same thing.
PDAnet is a 10+ years old program, is older than android, and is an absolutely proven SW, working on multiple platforms either on server and client side.
FoXfi is a relatively new program that manages to work on a great number of devices, but that is not guaranteed to work on any device.
If foxfi doesn't work on PQ, I'm afraid there is nothing you can do w/o rooting the phone.

Install TWRP, it will automatically offer to root the device after booting to recovery and then in recovery restarting to system.
Otherwise follow this guide to install CWM / SuperSU.

Sorry for the late reply. (time zone is our enemy
BTW given arrrghhh already replied, I can only add to avoid confusion to follow the linked thread about CWM, but replacing the CWM part with TWRP.
The latter is more newbie friendly and, will root automatically the phone, and will also block the function that restore the original recovery on the first boot.

Where are you stuck? Did you read the guide I linked? Have you checked the official TWRP page?

Basically you need to install the drivers and get ADB working, before doing anything else
Once you have done that step you can unlock your phone, using the instructions provided on the CWM thread, and in the related motorola website iself.
Then is flashing the TWRP is pretty easy, you just need to start your phone in fastboot mode, connect your phone the the pc, then issue the command
fastboot flash recovery twrp-something.img
(replace the last part with the real name of the file downloaded from the TWRP thread.
then reboot in recovery once (is mandatory to not reboot in system the first time) and when you will exit the recovery environment, it will ask if you want to root your phone.
That's all
This is a quick walk-trough, I hope you can understand that I can't detail every single step more, if and when you have doubts, just google a bit and ask for the definite problem you may have, here.
