In email app ( white envelope w/ blue @ ) when I search the app immediately comes up and says zero results, it doesn't even attempt a search.
Any tips or does this simply just not work?

I have had problems, but not til recently, but i heard a month or so there were some.
I waited, until a friend (with Verizon) (I am with Tmo) told me she called in, they said that there was in fact a Yahoo problem, they fixed it over the phone by giving some new server settings?
FOR ME, I expected the same...I called Tmo, to get to Tech support was horrific. They then had me goto Yahoo Mobile, download an email App
Once done, I had a new icon, simply a Mail (yahoo) icon INSTEAD of an Email icon to use. I could pick which one???
1. Does this make sense? Was Verizon right, are there some server settings, changes I need to make (symptoms, you may ask: waiting, NOT 5 minutes, but sometimes an hour, sometimes NO messages. Some were from the forums)
So do I need to enter some setting changes OR use the new icon OR use whatever icon I want, downloading the app itself fixed it??
2. Within that application, can someone explain a few things??
a) What is "contact email" -- is it email directly in the inbox from contacts only, and if there was one from Joe Smith, not a contact, it would not list it?
b) What is the Picture Email?? whoooahh LOL this could get me in trouble. I saw emails pop up from a year ago I sent. Some were ones I sent / some were ones I received. But where did they come from. How do I get better hold on these.
Am I the only one in the world who ever got the shock of his life using Yahoo or an app like this. Thank God I caught it.
Thanks for listening.. I can't always express it easily. I am not a great writer. So forgive me.

ive seen tons of SMS notifier apps but is there anyone out there who knows how to get something like that for google voice?
Use SMS Unread Count.
I set it up on my phone, by forwarding my GV message to gmail, with a filter to label and skip the inbox so I don't get double notifications (one for gmail and one for the vm)
Here's the set up:

It seems Google makes it easy from within the app itself:

Click to collapse
I believe that is just in the notification bar.
I inferred from the OP's question that he was looking for something similar to the SMS notifiers that show the number badge on the icon.
I could be wrong.
GV always defaults to the inbox view, I would prefer it always go to Text view instead. Does anyone know how I can do this?
Love to know it myself as well.

Is this possible?
bump..
Is Google Voice closed source so it cannot be modified?
Google Voice start page at inbox
I have Samsung Galaxy 5100.
I use Google Voice a lot, both from and to my cell and from and to my desk top.
At my desk top, Google voice link automatically start you at the inbox because of this Google link:
google.com/voice?pli=1#inbox
however, if you change your URL link to:
google.com/voice?pli=1#text
you will start up with TEXTS.
At my cell, Google voice starts with inbox automatically. Even if you click left button - More - Settings - there is no place for you to start in text as default.
Hope I wrote in enough detail to deserve a count in thank meter?
how do you send normal sms on google nexus 5. only have hangouts and it "invites"
when i select a contact it does an "Invite" request. what happemend to the normnal sms system?
please advise
first time user of nexus series
you need to search the contacts with the number phone , not the hangout
Yeah the normal phone numbers appear to be under your circle friends from g+.
I think the new messaging is pretty sweet and looks a lot better than the old stock format just take a little to get used to.

If you want the 'normal' sms function then you will need to get a third party sms client (I'm using Handcent without any problem). Once you download, it is simply a case of selecting which service you want to use as your default.
It gives you the option if you want to send it through hangouts or SMS (for each individual contact)

You all are making this WAY too complicated.
In Hangouts, press the + button. Search for the contact that you want to send an SMS message to (note, they must be in your People app for this to work). Simply look for the little bubble that says SMS next to the proper contact, click that, and voila.
Variantly, you can go to the People app, click the person you want to text, and then click on the little message symbol and it will pop you into a new message thread for that person.
I really don't like the G+ integration in Hangouts, as I don't use G+ at all. But I'll live with it.
Folks
Does anybody know of an app that allows you to place a widget or icon on the home screen. Once you click on it, it immediately opens Gmail with the To: column populated with a pre-defined email address and you can just type the message and send
Big time saver if you send 50 emails to one person a day
Thx

i can't figure how this app works. Also i woulid have to open the app and then click on smth, 2 clicks. I'm looking for something that you can add a widget to the home screen and once you click on it, it automatically puts you in the body field of gmail (to and subject is pre-defined)
Any other app recommendations for this?
