[Q] Removing an apk file from an update run - Captivate General

I have recently used unleash the beast on my captivate and it works great.....Thanks for that. The only thing that doesn't work in the wifi tethering. I click on it and it won't work. My question is....how can I remove the wifi tethering app created my unleash? I bought root explorer and I have astro file manager but I don't see which file to delete. Any help with this would be great. Thanks

Restored Apps not able to update?

I have pulled some apk's off of my phone, so that I can share them, and uninstall and reinstall them as I please. The only issue I'm having with them is very small. I'm not able to update the apps after installing them from estrong's file explorer because they don't show up as "downloaded" in the app market. Is there any way to load them so that they are able to be updated through the market? Thanks in advance for the help!!

The paid version of Titanium Backup preserves apps market links, this is the only backup app that I have seen to do this.

That's cool.. I pulled the apks off manually.. I'll have to check out the Titanium Backup paid version to use from now on.. I wonder though, if Titanium Backup has found a way to load those apps back in, shouldn't there be a way that we can do it?

Apps after rooting

I rooted my phone last week and would like to hear from you guys which ones are handy apps to have. So far i have titanium backup, Astro and i think thats about it.
I would like to do the fota fix and read that i should use root explorer but is this the only option for a file manager that can access system folders or are there other alternatives?
With Astro I have not been able to locate /data/fota yet so i was thinking that with root explorer i could be able to find it.
Thanks for your advise

You can use ADB from your computer to push the fota files or you can use Android Terminal Emulator from the Market.
I ended up purchasing Root Explorer because I'm lazy and like the ease of using it.
I did it with eStrong's free version. Eventhough it asks what kind of recovory ur using, I just selected CWM. Just remember to turn it off when ur done otherwise it'll error out next time u open it

[Q] New Android Phone Owner (6 Days)

I just used Bubbys One Click to root my new inspire and would like to ask a couple of questions if you please. First, what do you use to get rid of the "Bloatware? Second, what do you use to do your backups?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as this Android system is a complete new experience for me coming from iOS and the iPhone. I must admit that so far I like it and I am impressed with my Inspire.

Thanks for the tip on Titanium Backup fellows I will download it tomorrow. Now what about some type of file manager for looking at the files?

One thing I gotta say. If you wanna flash a rom, you need to flash clockwork in Rom manager. But when you boot into recovery its blank so to fix this, I had to Eng s off my phone. I thought I was going to have to run commands and stuff like that to do it but it was as simple as a click of a button. Took like 5 seconds too

Oh and use astro file manager. It's free a.d simple

MyBackup Root is an outstanding full-function system and apk backup app. There's a free version and the paid version. I liked it so well I gladly paid for it. It seems to do a lot more than Titanium for thorough backups. But Titanium is equally an outstanding backup app. MyBackup Root I think is just the new app on the block and is probably why it isn't well known yet.
I used MyBackup to install all the market apps that normally install during a setup. But the new ROM I installed on my HD2 didn't initiate the setup. I had used both backup apps to create backups of all apks + their data and all system data with MyBackup and used Titanium to do a batch backup. I chose to try MyBackup for restoring all my usual market apps and it did an excellent job of it. It didn't install some Google apks, like Maps or Voice Search, but it was an effortless job to find those and install them.
Either Titanium or MyBackup will suit you well.

You can't go wrong with root explorer. Although it's not a free app, the price is worth it.
Root explorer is excellent, I paid nor it, must have for pushing system files. Then I use astro free version for my regular file browsing stuff.

........
WOW!!! titanium backup worked, man! thanks, really.
Titanium back up is the Easiest Solution
But if you want to remove the apps Like a Pro
download any root explore from PLAY STORE
ex. ES File Explorer,Root Explorer
and go to
/system/app/
there are all the Stock Apps On Your Phone
and you can delete any thing
But Besure to only delete those AT&T Blot apps other wise You will Mess Up your Phone..
Ps:To Gain access to Root Folder You have To Mount the system path first.
in ES File Explore You can Do This By
Go To Settings and Tick these
1.Root Explorer
2.Mount File System
please search before opening a new thread. This has been covered many times already.

Use Root Explorer to multi select all the apps you want and remove them. Not sure why you need link2sd though.
Use titanium backup pro

Then something is odd about it. As long as you have root and given root access to the explorer then ukulele should be able to delete the apks from system/app. If you can't I would find out why.

i was using es file explorer, rooted phone, set permissions to read/write. i clicked the root explorer option, and from there clicked uninstall system apps. i then multi selected, pressed uninstall. a message comes up saying "busy", underneath that it shows one by one uninstalling "app name". after that, i get a box saying task completed. i go to app drawer, all apps are still there. so i go into es file explorer, navigate to system folder, than into app folder. all system apks are there, so i multi select and press delete. at that point i get a message, cannot delete, the files are not found" (or something similar) at this popint i am exasperated, so i go into link 2sd, try from there, it works from there at that point i open this thread to see what im doing wrong.
Could you please even reply if someone tries to help you?
Yes not cannot say.. tried.. did not work...
