[Q] Did someone install a GPS tracker on my Moto Android? - General Questions and Answers

Probably just paranoid and misunderstanding something completely innocent but if this actually does indicate someone GPS tracking me then it's very important for me to know and take action, thanks!
Randomly was browsing my Logger debugger thing and noticed some things i didn't understand and hoping someone can shed some light on whats really happening because I don't want to jump to conclusions based on information I am not qualified to interpret.
What is happening in these instances (copied and pasted only the odd gps parts and put XXX's in place of numbers of my gf, roommate and other friend) search for gtx or gpstracking to see the main area of concern if i posted way too much, sorry
I had to attach it as a DOC because the forum said I couldn't post links to an outside website even tho I didn't and the code didn't appear to turn any of my text into a link but it must've i suppose

Can anyone shed some light on what the log displays and what occurred?
If not can someone maybe point me in the right direction to get my question answered? thanks!

Hm, InstaMapper and GTX do provide GPS tracking services. I'd look in Settings > Applications > Manage applications for anything GPS tracking related.. it does seem odd to me.

hmmm.... try flashing a new rom then and wiping everything because then if its a software tracker it will be gone

Thanks for the replies. Still kind of looking for confirmation on wether its an innocent bacground process tied to a program or if the phone numbers appearing with the process are somehow involved with either activating it or receiving my location.
Thanks!

[Q] Google Play incompatibility workaround - is there one that works?

Sorry to apparently flout the warning about poking my noobish nose in to post about something non-ROM related, but since this is a development and hacking section, I figure I must be in the right place.
I've been googling and futzing around with build.prop to no avail, so I figure I should ask someone with a clue before I go and kill my install or even brick my phone, I dunno.
Is there any sort of hack on this file that tells Play what CPU/GPU/etc you have but also says, I'll be the judge of what's compatible, thanks?
Or is there some other method?
Maybe some folks have started a Play mirror on the sly...? Surely I'm one of millions who are cheesed off about not having any way around this silliness.
Two possibilities, right?
Either there's an answer, or this is an issue which deserves the attention of folks with the talent to address it.
Anyone care to give me a clue which it is?
Well, here's a workaround of sorts: try to find what you're after at mobile.brothersoft.com, where the site simply asks you what your phone is, and lets you save it wherever.
If you want to try another model, don't bother choosing a different one via the site's controls, because the initial drop-downs you identified your phone with are no longer available (instead you have to choose from pages and pages of poorly-identified entries, half of which are missing pics). Just delete your cookies for that site and choose again.
Play told me Google Goggles wouldn't work for some reason; I told the Brothersoft site my Galaxy Mini was a Pop 1559 (pretty similar as far as I can tell), downloaded the app, and bingo.
Now to have a look for all that other stuff Google told me wouldn't work...
...Actually, there's no need to tell the Brothersoft site any lies; it doesn't enforce Google's 'incompatibility' call, or even tell you about it.
Why did it take me so long to come across that joint after searching high and low for a fix? I tried enough angles... seems both obvious and obscure at the same time.

[Q] lock down kid's smartphone

I have several outdated android smartphones laying around and would like to re-purpose one for an 8 year old.
The thing is, I cannot trust him not to install tons of adware and games on it and play it during school hours which will just cause trouble for everybody. What I'm thinking:
I need the ability to remotely enable/disable lock/unlock the phone and/or turn the phone on or off and/or time periods during which device is automatically locked or unlocked.
I need either a locked down modified cyanogen ROM (or equivalent) or I need to somehow setup everything from scratch.
GPS tracking (realtime constant monitoring isn't necessary but I'd like to be able to ping his location if I'm worried about him and maybe have some sort of perimeter alert system in case he strays into a dangerous neighborhood/gets kidnapped/whatever)
I also need to lockdown which contacts can be called/SMSed/telegramed/IMed/emailed
This kid is sharp, so if there is a way to circumvent these measures, he'll probably figure it out. But I'd like you're ideas and I'll try anyway. How would you go about this? If you're going to tell me I'm a horrible person for tracking my child, I know already.
wow your asking for alot OP. lol eaither this is a really dangours kid, or your extremely protective lol
eaither way il try and help as best as i can. for tracking you can use "wheres my android" app. its gps tracking after you text it a certain phrase, it gives the location to the phone you texted.
you can try cnmod and just install wa app passwors to lock the settings, so the kid wont change anything
Thanks for the reply. He isn't dangerous, he is more of the absent minded genius type. I'm more afraid a stranger will say "lets go to my place to build model rockets" and he won't be able to resist.
What do you mean "wa app passwords"?
You sort of addressed the tracking and locking down apps. Any ideas for contact control so he doesn't just use up all of the minutes calling buddies and 900 numbers?
Hello, what phone are you going to give your child?? What I'm thinking is putting custom rom on the device and use the multi user option if the rom supports it. Then maybe, (maybe) you'll be able to omit which things can see/use and disable some of the things you're asking for.
Good luck.

We use MMGuardian Does everything you want and more and it's pretty cheap. I just assume you know a thing or two about Android so I'll tell you this, mmguardian is amazing, the only thing is you have to turn off persistent notifications for the app. I get why they don't have that built in, but just do that and hide that app and your as good as gold. You can add 'key words' that when come up in a text, IM, email or search, it will send you and alert on your phone. You get transcripts of their texts, im and email (which I was happy for, now I just find creepy and intrusive to my childs privacy) but it's pretty sold service OP

I'm just done trying...someone please help

Good evening all. I have a sort of complicated, long story but I'm hoping someone here with the knowledge to help me would do me a solid and save me a lot of additional heartache. Over the past several months, I have noticed done strange things in my android phones...3 different phones to be exact. My husband and I were sharing a phone for a while because he destroyed his. I started noticing that I couldn't access certain files...everything was encoded that I didn't recognize so I couldn't read things...Google wouldn't allow me into certain features.....he denies having anything to do with it and calls me crazy. Today I found partitions that are encrypted....apps I can't access....different ports and things of that nature on my phone and I cannot either open the files or read the weird code. It's pictures and contacts and apps he swears he knows nothing about. I'm no developer....far from it. Really, I'm here to find out what is on my phone. I need to see whatever these hidden things are so that I can bring hard evidence to the table....otherwise, he calls me crazy, denies knowing anything and I really can't deal Anymore but I need the proof. Please, someone help me. Thank you.
Can you add a screenshot of what happens when you try to open one of those apps or files?

Looking for an app and/or bluetooth expert. To modify an app.

Full disclosure: I dont normally do forums so sorry if I do this wrong.
I purchased a Bluetooth Purification Mask named Atmoblue.
It originated in China. Ive had it for a few months now and it has bluetooth and there is an app for it but it looks like its taking forever for it to be moved over to English.
My question is how hard would it be for a person (or me, with no experience at all) to pull the basic functions out of the app?
For example I want to bypass the wechat login (cause, no) and basically get the pairing function up and running along with the fan speed and some of the auto features in the app and create a basic app til they release the full thing.
If any of you also want to try I can send you the link to the apk. Or if you would do it and require payment at completion how much would that cost?
In case you need to see the device just google Atmoblue.
Thanks again everyone.

There is pretty much a 99.9% chance that you won't find anyone to do this for you. The best you can hope for is someone might give you some links to guides showing how to decompile and edit apk files. What you would modify in the apk file to achieve your purposes would require you doing your own research to figure it out. You can ask further questions along the way about the things that you don't understand, but there are no guarantees that you will get any useful answers.
In other words, be prepared to dig in and do the work yourself, if you really want to accomplish this feat. If not, get used to dealing with the app the way it is.

Yea, i started researching the day I posted this. I've been reading and reading and reading. Ive gotten to the point where I now have access to the battery percentage. Currently, trying to figure out the characteristics in the device itself and the values needed to change each of the modes. Also, it looks like the app from the company is pretty much useless to try to use. Based on the code (from what I can understand after 2 days of research and starting off with 0 coding knowledge) the app has to use wechat to basically be able to access a server and then the server sends it back to the phone then the device. Meaning I can't just look in the code for what values I need, unless I was able to actually sign into wechat and record the log. Which I can't do since I don't have access to wechat.
So now I'm currently looking up how to write code in the programs I've found to write it and create a ui. Ive at least figured out uuids and figured out how to call up the battery percentage now. Only like 3 more settings to go! Wish me luck lol

Strange grouping of apps in my usage history

I was looking in my usage history, and i saw something that confused me. I've attached if you screenshots of what I'm talking about maybe somebody can help me out. Is this supposed to be there? is it supposed to be grouped like this? When searching for certain specific app names listed I cannot find anything that matches them specifically. One example of this is "com.mediatek.apmonitor.apmapplication".
Stuff like that was on my last phone.
I think someone could be monitoring your phone calls and locations- possibly watching you through your cameras on the front and back of your phone .
All the perpetrator needs is your phones IP address, and they can remotely access your device.
Technology is dangerous nowadays.
