Mines 1007. I think it means 3 button download mode will not work on mine. 1010 does work, tho. It looks like Best Buy sold me a old build of this phone last month, dang it.

Mine is 1007 also. Never had issues getting into recovery using the 3 button combo or download mode using the 2 button combo. My GPS works well enough for a phone. I never expected the GPS to work as well as a standalone devices.
i have 1007 and it is an early build as i purchased mine on 6/15.
But that is not necessarily bad. While my GPS isn't perfect i have had alot less problems than many. Have always had solid locks and lock times but tracking was heavily flawed (but now near excellent in chronos rom).
Plus the download mode should work with your phone and our model is supposed to be the hardest model to brick.
For Download mode it may help give you a visual if you have it plugged in (to see the charging battery on the screen).
IMPORTANT
1. Hold BOTH the up and down volume at the SAME time.
2. While still holding them down push and hold the power button.
3. Pretty quickly you will see the charge battery disappear and screen go black. KEEP HOLDING ALL 3 Buttons.
4. The Charge battery will come back on the screen for 6-10 seconds or so when the screen goes black for the 2nd time release just the volume buttons and continue holding down the power button.
*Take care not to release even the slightest pressure from the power button when releasing the volume buttons (easy to do without realizing it) or it could interrupt process and fail to enter download mode*
Batch 1008's are the ones that have botched button combos. Not 1007's. Those are fine, 3-button should work unless you've tampered with your sbl.bin.
Mines 1007 and I haven't had any problems using the 3 button mode successfully. My GPS has always worked, though I haven't asked it to pinpoint me to within 2 meters of where I am.

This seems a little more complicated than what I've always done.
Download mode for me is as simple as:
1. Power off the phone
2. Only hold down the volume buttons
3. Plug in the USB cord while holding down the volume buttons
4. The phone should automatically turn on and go into download mode

But the button only method is simpler if you don't have a USB cable handy.
I tested the 3 button mode and it went into a command line after the att world phone screen. Is that the download mode thingy? I believe the 3 button combo works. Its odd that some other have problems with that and were forced to do a jig fix.
I think the gps works on mine but sometimes its not very accurate lock. It sometimes goes on for no reason, too. I had to turn off the gps until the further notice.

But why would you put your phone into download mode without a usb cable around?
Maybe flash the rom via ext. Sd card instead of usb cable from a computer?

GPS works but not as good as it should. The altitude is always off by more than 50 meters.
3 button method only gets recovery mode.
I use ADB to get into download mode.
I have not tries a USB jig.

Try the method above.
1007
3 button takes me to download mode.
TG for Odin.
Edit: GPS has had more bad days than good by a huge margin.
1006-Got it on launch day. Both the 3 button combo and download mode work normally on it.
So I probably went in recovery mode, not download mode? I guess there are two different modes, hmmm.

yes download mode is very striking
Yellow Triangle and a Guy with a shovel digging inside of it.
Recovery mode will just be a listing of text options
1006 - Got it 2 days before launch day. GPS is decent but not as good as it should be. Download and Recovery modes both work fine.
Im following this here:
http://www.techzek.com/how-to-root-samsung-galaxy-s-blaze-4g-sgh-t769-smartphone/
But the power, vol up and down get it to show the yellow "warning" thing that im supposed to see, but it goes away after like half a second so I cant get into it. What else can I do?
how to get to download mode.
As you press the volume +/- and power button , simultaneously plug the micro usb cable into your phone (this cable should already be attached to your pc). This should do the trick.
Happy rooting.
The instructions in the first post are wrong, and should be updated. You have to have the cable plugged in. In the video for example, he has the phone plugged in the entire time. You're not required to have three hands in order to get it done.
I've had no luck with any of the variations on this method either.
Turn your phone off, hold both volume buttons and with your usb plugged into the computer take the other end and plug it into your phone while continuously holding the volume buttons. It will boot into the caution screen and than you press up to get into download mode.

If none of the above still don't work try this
1. Turn off phone
2. Remove battery
3. Remove sim card
4. Remove SD card
5. Plug in USB from computer
6. Hold volume up + volume down
7. While still holding the volumes insert battery
8. Should now be in download mode

Thank you both for the replies. I've tried both methods several times without success. I'm tired now so I'll quit for the night. I'll try again tomorrow a few more times. If I can't get it to work I'll take it as a sign that I'm not meant to root this phone. I must have tried 30 times today; it gets old.
Update:
I've tried this ten or fifteen more times. I'm finding that the yellow warning message, whatever it is, doesn't appear at all, ever, unless the USB cable is not connected when I put the battery in. If the USB is connected, I get the gray battery icon every time, no matter what else I do.
If I do connect the USB, with the battery out, I immediately feel the device vibrating every second or so, as if reboooting.
I tried removing the SIM and SD cards again. This had no effect.
It's very strange. In that video the entire process looks about as easy as doing a simple battery pull. It's just not working for me. Is it possible that Samsung made some of these phones "root-proof"?
Worst case scenario you will have to buy a Samsung jig.

I had to do it a few times myself.... It did not catch for me the first 3-4 times...
Then it worked. Make sure you are holding down all 3 buttons down tight.

I think I've tried it at least 50 times now, with variations, and it's just not happening. I freely admit my ineptness, but holding down buttons is something even I can manage.
By "three buttons", I take it you mean two. I don't have separate volume up/down buttons on my Blaze; just a single rocker button. That's what you mean, right?
I did get as far as the warning screen, but from that screen there is no option for pressing up to go into download mode, so it seems that my warning screen is different from others'.
I guess the next thing is to research "Samsung jig" and figure out whether this is something I can possibly do.
I went through the same thing, I too thought I had to purchase a jig but the method I posted thanks to another member saved me, try again with a modification to step 6
1. Turn off phone
2. Remove battery
3. Remove sim card
4. Remove SD card
5. Plug in USB from computer
6. Hold volume up + volume down + power buttons
7. While still holding the volumes insert battery

Thank you. I just tried it a couple of times, without success. I have to go out now, but I'll give it another few tries later.
If I have to get a jig, should the Samsung Galaxy S be compatible? I'd think so, but I don't know for sure.
This is a slight variation of what everyone is suggesting...I was also getting vibrations when trying other methods.
Turn off phone
Unplug battery
hold volume rocker, make sure you're holding down both up and down
Insert battery
Hold power button until the warning comes up...only takes a few seconds
I said three buttons, because it seemed (at least to me) that you need to hold sides of the volume button down at the same time. It does not seem to be just a up/down button.

Thanks for this suggestion, but it also didn't work.
This method, like some of the others, takes me into what I think is Recovery Mode. I'm not sure, because I don't really know what I'm doing. The message that flashes on the screen isn't really a warning. Doing it this way, i.e., releasing the power button but not the volume button after the phone starts, takes me to a screen that says,
Android system recovery <3e>
at the top. Then there are some options: reboot system now, apply update from sdcard, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partititon. I can use the volume button to select an option, and the "OK Key", whatever that is, to select.
Near the bottom of the screen, in yellow, is the text that I couldn't read before:
-- Verifying internal MMC block...
checksum confirmation -> check(0)
Not need checksum confirmation
already executed!!...
# MANUAL MODE #
And that's it. In the background of this screen, grayed out, there's a white triangle with a yellow exclamation mark in it and a little green android.
Is there a way to get from this screen to Download Mode?

I guess it might if I could get ADB to work. So far, no luck; but that's a whole different problem. There are pages upon pages of posts here from people having difficulties getting ADB to work, so it'll take days or weeks to sift through all that and figure out what I'm doing wrong.
I thought the actual rooting process would be fairly simple, and it would only get complicated when trying to install custom ROMS and that sort of thing, which I'm not trying to do. It appears that I was wrong. I think I just don't have the knowledge to do this.

So I should have debugging mode and Kies Air turned on, and then ADB should be able to find the Blaze? I'll try it tomorrow.
Thank you.

Got it. Volume up and down at the same time, and the power button. I kept them held down and the phone just kept intermittently vibrating. I had to let off the buttons after the first vibration.
Power on while holding down BOTH volume buttons when NOT plugged into the computer USB (because this is also the way to get into download mode).

Had this problem too when it would just vibrate the whole time. good thing I learned the differences.

Pull the battery and put it back in. Then hold vol - & vol + and power until the 'samsung' logo appears. Then release all. I use two fingers to hold both volume buttons and then my thumb for the power button. I've heard of people thinking they are capable of holding both volume buttons with one finger lol and they usually have issues. This is how you get into recovery regardless of whether you have cwm or factory recovery.

Hi I just tried to install the RemiICS-UX 1.2 into my Galaxy S 4g t959v, it was everything was fine but when I rebooted it get stuck on the first screen where says "Galaxy S 4G" exclusively from -T---Mobile .
I try to get recovery mod pressing vol up + vol down + unlock button as allways but doesn't work :crying:
please tell me how to fix it I don't know what to do
thank you for your help,
If you can't get into recovery you're gonna have to one-click back to stock and start over.
I only have to press vol up+home when I'm trying to get into recovery. Vol down+home=download mode.
...this not the galaxy s 4 forum.

Yes with a usb jig. Really cheap and easy way for instant download mode. But usually just pulling the battery and holding the volume buttons and plugging in the pc, then putting the battery back will do the trick

You aren't getting into download or recovery mode because your button combo's are wrong. Recovery is Volume up + home + Power. When you see the galaxy screen come up with some small blue writing in the top left corner you let all the buttons go. It's the same exact process as the S3. Download mode with the phone off is volume up + down at the same time and plug in usb while holding, or Volume Down + Home + Power.

We must build a wall! That'll keep them out.
A friend of mine tried to root his S8+ from T-Mobile while following random instructions on the Internet and got his phone into this weird boot screen, which I must say I have never seen before.
Note: I have tried many times to enter to download mode by using the power button, bixy, vol- combination to no avail. When I turn the phone off and plug it in into the computer it gets recognized as QUSB_BULK.

I was wondering if any of you have had similar experiencies or perhaps even help me find a solution. Thank you in advance for your assistance.
This isn't anything out of the norm and has been covered more times to count. Get back into Download mode and finish the process.
Thank you for your answer and thank you for pointing out that I should have said that I've tried countless times to enter download mode by pressing vol- + power button and then power + vol- + bixby to no avail.
The only way to get the phone to boot into something is to press all buttons together while waiting around 10 seconds which, gets me to the screen in the picture.
Is there another way to enter download mode apart from using the regular bixy + vol - + power button combination?
hold down vol- and power only. when it resets, immediately keep trying bixby vol- and power. also if the phone is in a case take it out.
i think you have a fake s8+
It doesn't work, it gets detected as QUSB_BULK every time, only if I press all buttons does it give me a screen which is the one posted.
This is a genuine S8+ from T-mobile, I've made sure of it!
This happened to me
This is the worst, after giving up thinking my phone was bricked I just let it run out of battery. After it was dead i held volume down + power + bixby while plugging in a charger and to my suprise it went into download mode. I tried again and again to confirm it worked and it worked every time. So you just have to wait till the phones completely dead, and hold those 3 buttons while plugging it in to a charger.
Thank you for your answer, I did try that but it didn't work for me... no download mode, just that upload mode - unknown error...
I have the same issue plz help
Yup I've seen that same screen you're referring to on my S8+ Tmobile. It's tricky but you can make it work. Change the way you try to hold that combination of buttons. As previous answers mentioned, you have to be quick.
Here is what worked for me:
I plugged the phone into the computer, using the original USB cable.
Hold "PWR"+"BXB"+"VOLUP" until you see the phone's screen blacking out completely. Then IMMEDIATELY hold "PWR"+"VOLDN" and keep holding. That should put you back into Download Mode.
Again, it'a bit tricky so keep trying and checking your technique but you should eventually get it.
I've seen that issue before where no button combination gets you out the QUSB_BULK mode. I'm afraid it's a corrupted bootloader (aboot), which can only be fixed using a special "Dead-Boot" package, which uses a QComm low level loader (not download mode). You can search for it, but it's pretty hard to get since it's specifically written for each model. Here's a package available on a pay site https://combinefile.com/index.php?a=downloads&b=file&id=32731
