noob Question: Ion VS HTC Magic rom

With the death of my G1...I decided to move on to Sapphire...
However, I don't have a phone to test my skills on anymore..and like many others...I'm abit afraid to hack on a new phone...
I got myself a google Ion...however I have been wondering the difference between Magic as well...Can anyone comment on this?
Also, has anyone been able to port over the exchange server function that HTC Magic has to ION?
Thanks for the help out (still confused with reading all over the place)
Eh, "ION" *IS* an HTC Magic.
The ION is a HTC Magic with google stuff and 288mb ram instead of the Vodafone Magic's 192mb.

No the Ion is the Magic with 192MB of RAM.
Yes I understand the fact that the ION is HTC Magic but with engineer bootloader and spl..
However the version sold as HTC Magic rather than Google Ion has different Rom.
Other than the fact that the Rom alone is vanilla or basic rom with google stuff on it...what is the difference from the HTC Magic Rom? (Other than Exchange function and a list of local APN)
as mentioned many times on these forums,
the HTC Magic is HTC made so it has support and a few other software changes like the framework and kernal i believe.

[THINK TANK] Hero's flash/browser on non-hero ROM

It has been long enough, we should have flash support on all Android devices! Anyone want to take a crack at it?
Thanks to all the brilliant devs who make life better for android users!
Its tied to the sense framework. This is not possible.

But not for long!

Check the G1 Development section, almost all ROMs released there work on both G1 and Magic 32B. The G1 has a 32B baseboard as well.
Some popular Eclair ROMs are called OpenEclair, KingKlick's and Manup's. HTC has not released graphics or camera drivers for the 32B, so currently there is no camcorder, video or YouTube HD on 2.0/2.1 ROMs. The still camera works only because someone figured it out on their own.
Sapphire Dev seems to have become focused more on 32A and the few rare Magic-specific ROMs like Amon_RA.

[Q] [?] Kernel versions...

So I am a bit curious, can anyone knowledgeable of the situation explain the difference between
Eee_PAD_TF101_Kernel_Code_8_6_6_10.rar
and
Eee_PAD_TF101_Kernel_Code_8_6_5_13.rar (this being non-existant at the moment, and released later)
Or is the 6.10 version only different because it was meant for the TF101G?
Just curious is all...

[Q] Questions about kernel.

I post this here, as I can't post in development section.
Well, I downloaded the kernel sources for ChaCha in htcdev.com and I have some questions.
Why there is the source for drivers of hardware the ChaCha doesn't have?
Can the real hardware be guessed from the modules/drivers used in a kernel? Can we know that from the sources?
Can a different flavor of unix (maemo, tizen, webos, debian...) installed on ChaCha by compiling the right kernel? Will bootloader support that?
I come from a N900 where all this things were possible, up to the extents were open source drivers could be used. There is a site where up to the tiniest piece of hardware is identified with the N900.
If exists such a list of hardware of the ChaCha, maybe much better things could be done with the machine itself, even (maybe) 'port' things that other phones with the same or similar hardware does and ChaCha doesn't.
People that hacked the N900 (again) could get it to record videos up to 720p, wihch the N900 didn't support, and even run many games of the Palm Pre, that had almost the same hardware as N900.
Thanks all for reading this.
