After speaking to joerkc, I agreed to change the title of this thread.

Thanks!

More to come...

please make sure there are previews =)

Here's one I did for ardynalynes FrankenRom
I take no credit for pic, only for converting it and zipping it.

Madface not as clear as I would like it to be.

here's one I made, was just screwing around and generally testing to make it worked.. just rename to PB311IMG.zip

Here's some of the ones I made...
The first one's (incredible_black_splash) based off of the original splash screen, except the colors are inverted and the "TM" was removed (I get it HTC, you have a copyright on the name... BUT IT KILLS THE AESTHETICS!)
Next, we have just the HTC logo by itself, white on black (incredible_htc_splash_black)
...and then black on white (incredible_htc_splash_white)
I like to keep things simple. Enjoy!
EDIT: also, wouldn't it be great if this was stickied and a similar thread was made for boot animations that was also stickied? Then you'd have a one-stop shop for all your boot tweaking needs!

finally got it working....
after a few failed attempts, finally got splash working! first of probably many more to come...

My Splash Screen
Looks a lot better than pic

Droid X eye. Just looks cool.

My contribution:

This came out really good on the Inc!

Droid Eye/Logo, C3Po/R2D2 as Androids, HTC Incredible Logo
Unrevoked Image with Droid Eye & Logo, C3PO & R2D2 as Androids, and the HTC Incredible Image. I do not own any of these images. Pulled them all from Google and compiled.

Hot babe splash screen... enjoy!

Well, I figured it was about time I contribute something to the community.
Please give me feedback.
Thanks.
The PB31img.zip files are in the attached .zip file along with the bitmap, that way if you download a few of them you can keep track.

Really want to turn this into a boot animation and/or live wallpaper. Goes well with the stock boot animation.

Splash Screen Repository (Merlin XP Added)

Hey all,
I think it would be a good idea to have a one stop shop for people to get splash screens. It's something that's easy to add to your phone when it's done up but it's not always so easy for people to make them up with all the kitchens.
any way I'll try and start it off with a splash screen I made a while back and finally got around to putting on my phone if anyone wants it.
It's a simple one, but I think it fits in great with the Wizard Mobile Theme Though
I created the first one a while ago(with nothin's background from core kitchen 4.0 as a backdrop). I still have the layered pngs so I'm sure I'll end up swapping out some different backgrounds that I create or find(and uploading the merlin pngs if anyone wants em).
Let me know if I'm posting something that's already been done.
Update: Ive added an xp themed version now. I'll leave both on here if you like the version with nothin's crossbow background better
Each zip file contains an nk.nbf file to flash with the rom upgrade utility of your choice and a cab file to install the 3rd splash(welcome) screen
Just an FYI, but the 3rd splash screen (welcomehead.96..png) should be 320x320 (your's appears to be 240x320) so that it will work properly in Landscape mode. Main graphics should be in the 240x320 area, but it won't look right if you happen to be in Landscape (keyboard open) when you reboot.

Thanks mfrazz, I didnt realize that. Ill change the third splash screen a little later tonight, and will post when I do. Feel free to post any splash screens you've made as well
Ok I padded the third splash screen so it doesn't show a black bar in landscape mode and updated the original post with it.
Does any one have any splash screens they have done or any that they would like to see?
btw....why you used my old xplore splashes without permission....:S
they are there - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=304876&highlight=xplore
my original one(3rd splash, "crossbow" was second one):
nevermind...though.

Recently, I edited the original post hoping to turn it from a question to a discussion, and in doing so I left out where I got the "crossbow" background. I got the BMP from the Core Kitchen 4.0 release, I then created a layered png out of it(only b/c they were the only 24 bit bitmaps I had on hand) for each merlin screen(only using your image as the backdrop). If you want me to remove your background as i stated originally that i planned on doing anyway when i update, i will.
My original post was to ask if we had a repository, and i had said i came up with these by adding merlin to the spash screen images included in the core kitchen. that's why the post said "Like I Said" although what i said isn't there anymore
Although, if the images where included in a kitchen to use freely, why would I need your permission to use them :|
no ouches required.... i re edited the original post to state that the background image came from the core kitchen.. why not link directly to your post with the splash screens here so others can get some use of them from here(although a link to the post is probably sufficient)/ thanks for your input to the "community"....
all right.
Ok I added a new version of the Merlin Splash Screen to my original post. This version uses a bit more color and is a little bigger but still flashes fine and looks good.
nothin i also left the version with your background attached for people who want the gray version, but I noted you in the file name of it. If you want me to remove it alltogether let me know
Here's a pic of the new version
Merlin XP
Im going to make a vista one soon too. Let me know what you think or if you have any cool splash screens feel free to post them.
Has anyone ever made an app to swap the third splash screen each time the device boots? That might be a fun tool to have

[Boot Animation] Prash's CyanogenMod 5.0 animation for ANY nexus roms.

Hey guys,
First time around here since I don't own a nexus one yet. I made the new boot animation screen for the CyanogenMod 5, and a few themes for pre-nexus devices/roms. Anywho's I've already gotten a lot of requests for boot screens on other nexus roms. Thankfully I don't have to do too much work to get it in.
Video Preview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zFxjKdjJV8w
If you want the Cyanogenmod 5 boot screen on your own nexus rom (even works on non rooted I believe, not positive though) do the following:
1) Download this file: http://injun.org/bootanimation.zip
2) Without unzipping, put it on your phones /data/local folder (create it if its not there)
3) Reboot and watch the new boot screen.
Easy as that.
Enjoy,
-Prash
If you want to see more of my work for nexus, I'd really appreciate a donation to my n1 fund via paypal: [email protected], I'd love to take a crack at themes for the n1 and the amazing screen
thanks so much for your contributions to the rom.. your boot image is beyond badass i love it thanks.. donated!
Totally Awsome.
Very Awesome!
hmm..didnt work for me. i created the local folder (/data already created) and put the .zip file in the /data/local folder and rebooted but same boot animation. am i missing something?
can i ask how you did it please? Is it something to do with how you rezip the folder? I have edited the original images- put them all back in and rezipped my bootanimation but it just gives me black and no boot animation at all.
thanks- love the CM animation BTW.
/data/local folder is located in the phone, not the sd card.
use
android-sdk kit & AndroidCommander_v0.7.4.1 to get into your phone, and drop the bootanimation.zip into the /data/local folder of your phone. not the sd card. Then just reboot.

wow, sweet, can you please made the same one for G1/MT3G?
How is it different exactly? Just the colors?
Hahaha absolutely love this boot animation! love the lil cyanogenmod android in the middle of the "X"!
wow! nice!! thank you!!!
can you tell me how to get the original boot animation?
thanks
I am extremely excited to move past the limitations of the Dream, and use real animations on the Nexus One. (if there was sound, I'd wet my pants)
I've made an animation with the same dimensions as yours, and I exported each frame to png. I kept your naming convention, started with boot_00003, and used the same number of files, split into 2 folders. What else do I need to get it to work? Would using Stericson's utility to sign the zip work? (The one he made for the Dream)
I have a few more questions, but if someone could answer the above, I can probably figure the rest out on my own.
Thank you, Prash, great work.
this is great, works fine on my g1 using openeclair.
Great work Prash... this bootanimation and the wallpaper you made for cyanogenmod are awesome It would be fantastic to have next a cyanogenmod live wallpaper
prash
awesome freaking boot screen. you wouldn't happen to have a version without the "little dude" in the middle would you? sort of like it even more stripped down and simple.
again though, totally freaking cool. can't imagine how you "searched and replaced" all those little lines in Photoshop (or even worse, sat and redrew all of them on top of the old ones), but you did.
thanks
NICE love the cyanogen android in the middle!

+1
a small kine of a tutorial will be lovely
Prash, you are the man. I love this. And it goes perfect to my theme in progress

(THEME) Laucher Pro: Titanium

This is my first attempt at a theme. It's based off a theme I'm developing for the entire ROM which I've tentatively named Titanium. Maybe if I get off my lazy ass and start getting to work I'll actually have it done anytime soon....
http://www.launcherpro.com/
Credit to ManUp456 for the google search widget graphics and the trash bin graphic. Integrated those elements back in from his NexTheme as that is the theme currently loaded on my phone.
If I have broken any unwritten rules of etiquette please forgive me in advance. Like I said above this is my first time. just let me know and I'll make sure to correct myself.
Screenshot and download link below.
Looks good mane, any chance to get one with the nexus x for the main launcher tab in matching color, instead of nexus dots ? That would be way nice
from the splash screen or the bootanimation? splash screen I can do no problem (i can redraw it in Illustrator), the bootanimation will take a while to "mask" it out from the black background.

[Q] How do you create a custom boot animation for the Droid X?

So I've got an idea or two for a custom boot animation for my Droid X but I can't seem to find an *updated* How-to guide on how to do it.
I've read that the image files need to be PNGs but what type of PNG, do they need to have transparency? How many files can does the animation need to be? Can it be installed via the Clockwork loader or is it only via terminal commands, etc.?
Any info would be greatly appreciated
All are png. Using photoshop just save as a png image. U will need to edit alot of photos as some boots have over 100. They are in two folders one with the start up and the other a repeated loop. You will need a comand file that gives the size and the fps. Dl a boot and take apart a zip. You will see how it all comes together.

Can the images be created from another format? I plan on creating a simple 3D spinning logo and saving the animation out as sequential images but can't remember if 3dsmax outputs PNGs or not.
I also came across this guide...anyone know if this works for the DX?

I have always used png as that's what the stock boots are made with. You can try jpeg it wont hurt the phone. It would just not show up when you boot. Its all about trial and error with this stuff. Play around.

Jpg works just fine. I have made multiple animations, including mixing ones that are already made. I just finished up a boondock saints one, just waiting to upload to youtube.
Gentlemen, I would like to present to you......
Boondock Saints: The Boot Animation.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RdDzfmHrLw8
The Boot Logo is from:
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-2-hacks/88531-changing-moto-logo.html
on the 3rd or 4th page.
The Download link is a install.zip through bootstrap is here:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=AVFQU34L
The animation is all .JPG and is supposed to cut out after the chains drop.
Nice boot animation Casen, Im a huge Boondock Saints fan, thumbs up for the animation Any help with how you added video to your bootanimation?
Now, speaking of the OP, I just created my own boot animation today and it took some help but I am learning. My boot animation is on YT. Look for Irishsmyles as the user. Sorry not able to post outside links due to restrictions
I used photoshop and used the animation option under window. Created seperate images and then put them in a gif, named theme in sequential order using 5 digits 00000, 00001, etc. The trickiest part and part that I needed help was the desc.txt part but I am starting to understand that now. I may post a video on my YT channel so look for that tomorrow. But my Droid X rocks that much more now that I have a custom boot logo, animation, and wallpaper added

video game attract mode bootanimations

Here are some bootanimations I created from the attract mode of the video arcade game Tron (and a bonus one from pacman - attached). One is 5fps to keeps the filesize smaller (attached) and the other is 15fps (link below). They include ALL the stuff that's displayed in Tron's attract mode so unless you have a REALLY long (3+ minutes) boot you won't see it to the end.
Let me know if you try any of them and how the work for you. I've tested all of them on my phone and they all work for me.
To install I use adb. But you can use whatever method works best for you. Just place the file wherever your ROM looks for bootanimations. If you're not sure where that is, you can check /system/customize/CID/default.xml. It should have a place that specifies where the device will look for bootanimations.
I'm also open to requests. If you have a favorite classic arcade game (centiped, missile command, space invaders, galaxian, etc.) let me know and I'll see about whipping up a bootanimation for you.

Will install tonight and report back.
These are both really cool. Takes me back to the arcade as a kid. Both the attached files make it to the end of the animation for me. You should keep updating this with new games, I bet alot of people would be happy you did. Thanks dude.
Here's Donkey Kong.
Any other requests?

Dig Dug bootanimation
Here's one for Dig Dug.
the filesize restrictions on .gif files here are so restrictive that I cannot upload a good quality animated .gif. So, what you see in the .gif is just a rough representation of the bootanimation. To see the real thing you'll need to download the .zip and put it on your phone.
If anyone knows of a good free image host I'll put better preview .gif files there.
