[Keyboard] Droid Mutlitouch for 2.2/Froyo - EVO 4G Themes and Apps

Thought I'd relay this - tested and working perfectly on CM6 nightly
Update: Added fix-4 from invisiblek
Download/flash zip through recovery
All credit goes to invisiblek
Original topic: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7644384

Working on stock 2.2 evo as well

Don't forget to push in the lib file if it FCs.
(Check OP)

Screenshots sure would be nice....hint, hint...

THANK YOU!!! It has been killing me not having this keyboard. I really don't like the stock, and swype is okay, but I can really cook in this one!
Cheers
J

keeps telling me the file is read only ( cm6 8-13 nightly )

totally awesome
this keyboard makes it much more comfortable to type. Swype was cool for a bit but still wasn't as natural as this keyboard is.
One thing (and i know this isn't your fault) in portrait mode, the spacebar is sooo tiny, and hard to hit :/ oh well for fat fingers
Thanks for the great work! More people should see this.

Is it possible to get an apk file to install?

screenshots would be kind!

Here's a signed flashable zip I made for this. Tested on an OTA 2.2 rooted deodexed rom.

Just rename d2keyboard-signed-ampfix.apk.zip to d2keyboard-signed-ampfix.apk

Hey sporkman, you have to remount from adb.
adb remount
this will mount the system partition as RW, not RO
gl

Just use my flashable zip. No messing with adb or renaming or anything.
1.) Flash through recovery, reboot
2.) Activate it like normal: Go into any text field, long press on the text field, select input method and select Multitouch.
3.) Have yourself a beer for that real hard work. You deserve it

Nice work OP...thanks for the share!

How to install?
Hi, thanks for fixing this!
How do I install it? the other multi-touch apk file would just install, when I click on, this one if opening sub folders and system file.
Thanks again

Unknownforce, You are the ************* man.

You have to change the .apk.zip to .apk.

Thanks but help me out here, I am new to Android, what does this mean?

It means...you most likely haven't rooted...
So for you, I'd say, download the d2keyboard-signed-ampfix.apk.zip file, change the extension to .apk, put the .apk on your sd card and install like a regular .apk.

Modding ROM

Hi Guys,
I just wanna ask if you can mod a rom before the update.zip install to your own preferences.
Example you download HERO Batman ROM with its own dock, bar, bootscreen.
Then you open up the files you wanna change, example dock bar colour make it green then save it and then update the rom so that it will come in as you modded it.
Is that ok to do, or will the install of the update.zip fail if we play with the files from the downloaded rom?
Thanks in advance
you need to resign the zip-file after change
modding
Thanx bro`
I just think I will leave that alone, since "signing" isnt ringing a bell.
I done some research on the net and I see its a very delicate process.
So, before I mess up my phone I will leave it alone.
Thanx for the feedback!
it's not that delicate. check out the theme forum. loads of guides on how to resign a zip.

Maybe we dont understand eachother bcuz of my bad english.
Is it also good if I click on the map (with the files meta, framework, app etc.) and then make a new zip update file? Or is that bad shi*?

You can't brick by flashing an ROM. Worst that will happen is that the phone won't boot, in that case go to recovery, wipe and flash a ROM. That's it.

[Morph] Swype Theme / Keyboard Layouts - updated

OK, second try, (please ignore all posts up to number 17)
Here are some Swype Layouts that i collected over the past few feeks, most of them are not done by me but it is hard for me to give the right people credits cause most of the Swype threads were deleted. So please let me know if you'll find "your" png's here.
QWERTZ AND QWERTY Keyboards are modified. Currently there is no Swype Beta version out there for QWERTZ, but maybe in the future (or someone has a "modified" version already).
Compatible with all Roms and all WVGA (800x480) Swype Versions!
What you need:
- Metamorph (root, busybox...)
Instructions:
- go to data/app/ and search for com.swype.android.inputmethod.apk (or ...inputmethod-1.apk ...inputmethod-2.apk)
- move the file to system/app/ (MOVE! not Copy)
- be sure the file is called exactly com.swype.android.inputmethod.apk .. if there is a -1.apk or -2.apk rename it!
- reboot your phone! check if swype is still working properly
- copy the desired layout (the complete zip file attached, do not unzip!) to /sdcard/AndroidThemes
- open Metamorph and click Unzip/Extract new theme
- choose the desired theme
- klick Apply all
- REBOOT!
- choose swype as input method again (long click in empty input field -> input method -> swype)
- should be done now
Please report back if this works for you, this is my first Morph.
If you do not want to move your apk from data/app to system/app you might use Daneshm90 great script which pulls the swype.apk from the phone, copies the keyboard files in it, signs it and pushes it back. To get the right Keyboard files please extract them from my Morph themes (they are located in assets/keyboards) and copy them into the images folder of the script. The script backups your Swype settings and dictionary!
You can find his Script here .
Thanks Daneshm90 for the script and his kind help and Formel-LMS for his private message support!
original Style if you want to undo the changes.
Im confused, how is metamorph capable of modifying apps in /data/app ??? Those apks require resigning which metamorph doesnt do.
blah you are right, works for me cause i signed the swype apk for myself...
so cut/paste to system/app should be fine?
Thanks for the hint.. my first morph obv.
Well yea but u gotta then provide the apk which the forum frowns upon
Heres an alternative i created for another swype themer.
Link
sorry, had a "typo" in my reply. wrote data instead of system first.
what about cut/paste from data/app to system/app and then morph. Might that work?
edit: wow, awesome script!
so can i just replace your png with mine and upload the modified script? downside is that people are loosing their dictionary and have to start from "swype-scratch"

Yes, that should theoretically work. So this is wht would need to happen:
User with swype already installed will have to backup that apk.
Uninstall swype
Push to /system/app/
Then apply ur morph
Restart phone.
Or u cud use my script where all it does is :
Pulls the apk from ur phone
Extracts it
Replaces the images with urs
Repacks it
Signs it
Uninstalls swype from ur phone
Installs this modded one

i just moved my com.swype.android.inputmethod.apk from data/app to system/app and it still works? Is this cause i have my "special" version or is an uninstall really necessary? -> edit: puh, ok.. now it is gone lol... move does not really work lol

Hmm try restarting and see if it causes any issues, if it doesnt then try applying a morph and see if that causes any issues. If both dont then i guess ur fine
issues here lol, swype is gone hehe. trying to reinstall... confused right now a bit hehe
ok had to reinstall after moving from data to system.
can you adopt your script and implement my files (or i can do the copy/paste work for myself..)

That'll be generic, so once i just change something in my script and upload it, u just gotta place one of ur themes png's inside the pics folder and run the script.
great thanks, please let me know as soon as you are done.
thanks again for your kind help.
K so im done the script. It now backs up swype data and restores after. One thing though, it seems as though the filename convention is different for the pngs inside assets/keyboards. Im using swype 1.56.30.7625.t100 and when i replace ur pngs inside that folder it still shows default. Is it version dependent ?
Any way, heres the script. The script version u downloaded, notice in the pics folder the filenames are:
SwypeRef_LS_Blue_HVGA.png
SwypeRef_LS_Blue_Shifted_HVGA.png
SwypeRef_LS_Editing_HVGA.png
SwypeRef_LS_Editing_Jump_HVGA.png
SwypeRef_LS_Editing_Jump_Select_HVGA.png
SwypeRef_LS_Editing_Select_HVGA.png
SwypeRef_LS_Numeric_HVGA.png
SwypeRef_LS_Standard_CapsLock_wBlue_HVGA.png
SwypeRef_LS_Standard_Shifted_wBlue_HVGA.png
SwypeRef_LS_Standard_wBlue_HVGA.png
SwypeRef_PT_Blue_HVGA.png
SwypeRef_PT_Blue_Shifted_HVGA.png
SwypeRef_PT_Editing_HVGA.png
SwypeRef_PT_Editing_Jump_HVGA.png
SwypeRef_PT_Editing_Jump_Select_HVGA.png
SwypeRef_PT_Editing_Select_HVGA.png
SwypeRef_PT_Numeric_HVGA.png
SwypeRef_PT_Standard_CapsLock_wBlue_HVGA.png
SwypeRef_PT_Standard_Shifted_wBlue_HVGA.png
SwypeRef_PT_Standard_wBlue_HVGA.png
Those seemed to work for my swype. Once again it could be version specific.
Link
Thanks, i will try this later!
No not version depended, but you're using HVGA and my files are for WVGA
Moving from data/app/ to system/app/ works now, i forgot to reboot to check it.
I followed the steps as outlined in the first post. After that swype was gone...reinstalled it via android commander...et voila: swype is back with the HTC theme (that I wanted to try out).
Thanks for the theme!!
Confused
Hey thanks for the info. I was wondering, does the swype apk have to be a "working" one? I tried may apks and all of them were out of beta. I also tried your steps and they didn't work for me. I'm just a little confused, sorry for the dumb questions.
is this for the newest version of swype? 1.60.36.8214?

Theming files?

Sorry about the first post. I was wondering where the png files are located in the rom so I can start theming

Thanks bro! All I see is apk files though. Where are the images?? Also, is there anything specific I have to do in order to export/import the files in Photoshop? I read something somewhere about a .9 PNG or something like that....what does this mean? BTW great work on your theme! It looks awesome! I love it!
Ok I'm a douche bad. lol I renamed the apk to .zip and extracted with winrar. Now I'm in to where I want to be! I'm looking for the little android guy when you make a phone call but, I can't seem to find him in the HTCdialer.apk. Am I looking in the wrong place? Thanks again for the help!

Ok so I have edited some files and rezipped them. Now do I flash the updated files through recovery or do I have to rename it to .apk and stick it in the rom and re-flash?

I may be wrong but I have done the same thing, all I did when I was finished was push them via adb to their respective places and then reboot and it worked fine for me. Nandroid before you push so if it boot loops you can recover. Then the easiest thing at that point would be to save your work in the ROM you modded, push to sd root, wipe and flash it. I am creating a themed version of Darchoid 2.7 but taking my sweet time as I dont have a lot of it to begin with.
For my HTC Keyboard modifications, I just dropped my new images into the APK that was open in 7zip and pushed it to the /system/app/ dir and launched the keyboard, and BAM, my new keyboard.

You have to sign it too. If you want to flash it. If you wanna just push it through adb then then put your edited .apk in AndroidSDK\tools and push it.
Go to command prompt:
Code:
cd C:\android-sdk-windows\tools
adb remount
adb push xxxxx.apk /system/app/
exit
C:\android-sdk-windows\tools is assuming thats where your sdk\tools folder is
xxxxx.apk is the name of the .apk
/system/app/ is assuming that's where you got the .apk from
Thanks for all the help guys. I appreciate it but, I was attempting to make an update.zip so people could then flash them once I complete them. I like to make things idiot proof
So I did some looking and found an autosigner. Problem is, now it wants boot scripts? WTF? I know I could push them through adb and simply tell others to do the same. I was just wondering if there was an easy way of doing this? I'm currently using avabox. Thanks again guys!!

Just use a mod or update.zip any will do and add ur files and delete the originals in the zip. Keep the meta file and such. Then u can autosign with avabox. It gets tricky with scripts when making a rom. The update.zip script is very basic
Check This Out
You can just take one from a working zip if you want
Otherwise you will be making a file (i use notepad++) called "update-script" *notice-there is no file extension like .txt or anything*
In general they ususally just have:
Code:
show_progress 0.1 0
copy_dir PACKAGE:system SYSTEM:
show_progress 0.1 10
(but may be different depending on where you want the zip's contents to be put in)
Which will be placed into a folder directory META-INF/com/google/android/update-script
You can also add things such as:
Code:
delete SYSTEM:app/contacts.apk
*or whatever you want deleted*
After you make the update-script, just sign it and flash
See my attachment for a template

What would be the purpose in doing that? Would it actually delete people's contacts if they flashed my theme? That's kinda cool but, I'm not trying to be a **** like that! lol
Also, are you guys referring to an update.zip that's all ready out as in a theme file? Or as in a rom? I understand I can use the work that's all ready there and I actually tried that. I zipped the file back up.Then signed with avabox. Renamed it to .apk. Stuck it back in the rom. Attempted to flash and got the boot script error

haha i just used contacts.apk as an example, it could be anything you wanted really. But its generally only used for when making an update.zip for boot screens.
And yes, you could take an already existing zip... but i was a little confused as to what you were doing sorry.
Correct me if I'm misunderstanding you again lol, but you're editing images within .apks and want to make a flashable-update.zip once you finish?
Easiest way, as stated before would be to use 7-zip.
Open the .apk Directly with 7-zip (no renaming the .apk to .zip or anything) and drag the replacement images into the .apk - overwriting the older images
Test it by pushing the apk to your phone, if it works without any problems great
If it doesn't then use something like Apk Manager to extract the apk/edit the files/and zip them back up < generally what I do
Put the .apk into the apps folder in my "template update.zip" file
Delete the framework folder and readme.txt file
Sign the .zip
Flash

LOL I really appreciate the help! You guys kick ass!!!! BUT I tried this method MINUS the renaming part and it didn't work. Sooooo....I'm assuming the renaming caused the issue.
Also, I was using winrar. I read somewhere that 7zip should be used instead of winrar but I just don't think this should matter considering the compression method is no different. Am I wrong? Also, will my theme have to vary from rom to rom? If I create this theme for people will I have to specify what rom I'm on?
Thanks again SOOOOOOOOOO much for the help guys...I know working with noobs can be a headache. I did it in the WinMo world for YEARS till I came to the "Dark Side"

Yes 7zip works better for theming and roming. I tried winrar and it was a pain in the ass.
Yes u will have to specify which roms it will work on. Files on darchdroid r different than our 2.1 roms and so forth. So they wont work right.
Download avabox and use the signing tool in there to sign ur zips.
Make sure in ur zip if ur editing an app it's in the right place...ie system/app or system/framework or data/app. Then make sure ur Meta file is in there. After that sign it and then u can change the name and flash it

The Meta file is for the update script. It has other uses but for ur purpose its for the update script which is the instructions the recovery uses to flash the theme. Like I stated before just use an existing one from a different theme or mod. Creating ur own is possible but not needed. Hit me up on gtalk if u want to ask me questions.

hmmmm...they really look nice in the screenshots but you really should say strictly for ICS roms in all of your flashable zip posts that require an ics rom because the way you post it makes it seem that thats the theme of them..or atleast thats how i saw it which is why i flashed on top of barebones now all i get is a blank screen(yes i can get into recovery) was wondering if you or anyones else could make/share/show me a flashable zip with the original softkeys of cm7 because id rather not reflash the whole rom. please someone respond soon. (and of course my dumb a** didnt backup) or let me know if reflashing the rom will erase my settings or other misc. things ive changed.
well yea i just made a backup of my no screen showing and reflashed barebones which did reinstall/change certain things so im hoping a version of the softkey.zip for cm7 would help if i restored back then flashed that so hopefully someone will help me out soon :/
If you have the ROM on your sdcard and adb setup, you can adb pull /sdcard/wherever/the.zip is to your computer (or just go download the ROM) you can pull what you need from it and adb push the.apk to system/where/it/needs/to/go. Probably also need to adb shell chmod 644 path/to/the.apk and reboot.
I have already made special zip's for myself to use with zipthemer. the zip's only have the theme mod in them and the app will create a update.zip and a undo.zip from whatever ROM your on that you can flash in recovery. If the OP states he does not mind, I'll post them.
Just reflash your original ROM. I will edit the OP.
It says ICS in title.

I have already made special zip's for myself to use with zipthemer.the zip's only have the theme mod in them and the app will create a update.zip and a undo.zip from whatever ROM your on that you can flash in recovery. If the OP states he does not mind, I'll post them.

Changing System Fonts (easy way)

I've seen posts on this topic, but nothing in one place.
This will help you to just switch out the basic overall system fonts (without any apps, aside from root explorer)...
0. (optional) using root explorer, navigate to /system/fonts and copy the current Clockopia.ttf, DroidSans-Bold.ttf, and DroidSans.ttf files to your sd card for safe-keeping (note that if you are on any custom roms, these are most likely not the actual font names - if you're curious, copy it to your computer and preview the .ttf file or just hold your cursor over the font and it should tell you the actual font name)
1. get the .ttf files that you want (maybe from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1194202 <-- these are font packs with a lot more stuff in there than you need - just unzip and grab the three .ttf files only) you really only need to grab the unique files - usually clockopia and droidsans are the exact same file with different names, and sometimes all three are the same when there is no actual bold type of a specific font)
2. put the .ttf files on your sd card (i have a folder with different fonts on my sd, i named the .ttf files the actual font name to keep everything straight, and copy and rename when i want to switch fonts)
3. using root explorer, copy the 3 .ttf files (or only the unique files and make additional copies as needed) to your /system folder - make sure to mount r/w first (we need to make a layover here so we can change the permissions)
4. rename the files (you could do the renaming at any stage really, just sometime before you put them in the /system/fonts folder) - change the regular font types to Clockopia and DroidSans, and the bold font type to DroidSans-Bold (that's what your system is looking for when calling fonts)
5. change permissions of the 3 files to chmod 644 (see attached pic)
6. multi-select the 3 files and MOVE (do not copy) to the /system/fonts folder. it will ask you if you want to overwrite, check the box to do it for all files, and hit ok.
7. exit. reboot. done. cheers!
Disclaimer - I am not responsible for what you do to your phone. It is advised to install the CWM on Boot mod (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1554579) before messing with any of the system files.
Thanks man, easy as pie!

No prob. I learned quick after taking a misstep trying to copy them to the fonts folder w/ no cwm on boot - fc's, followed by a boot loop, followed by rsd lite... you know where this goes... anyway, i thought i'd share..
...Still not sure what all the other fonts in there do.. heck, i got no idea what the clockopia font is even for. I've changed it to different fonts separately, and notice no difference anywhere... you probably don't need to even change it. Someone else please feel free to post if you can add to the topic

Guys, I just did what I didn't suppose to and ended up in bootloop during font change! I know, am a stupid noob...
But, can't get the phone to CWM either. What should I do?
Running Victory rom if that helps. Thank you very much for the responses.
EDIT: nevermind, now I know what to do. Sorry for trolling, moderators can now delete my stupid post...
Don't beat yourself up my brother.... We've all been there.
Some, like me, more than others. That's the way I learned.
ATRIX 2 / Victory Rom
Yup - been there. And, learned from it..
Try and keep that CWM on Boot installed if you're messing around, and a backup on your sd card to restore if you start looping..
Thanks for your support guys, you're awesome
The thing is that i did have CWM on boot installed, and I did make all important backups. I just couldn't get anywhere but in regular fastboot mode only...
Anyway, RSDLite will do the thing I hope...
Thanks again boys, cheers from OZ

Wow.. I forgot about this thread!
Anyway, you would need you to find the fonts from cm7 and move those as described above.
I am not familiar with CM roms, but I assume the fonts are in the same /system/fonts folder - grab them from a CM7 rom and follow the steps..
Note: there are also apps that change system fonts (like Font Changer) - but I prefer to do things manually..

Thanks! That is a good read... and, so it looks like you could possibly still use the method in my OP, but you need to replace the four Roboto font files instead of the DroidSans ones.. I'll give it a try sometime when I get back on ICS and update the OP accordingly.
