i have a htc touch diamond and i tried to put the xdandroid the new one and i downloaded all the files needed then i put the files in a folder that i created (andboot) and all the required files there and i alos copied the diam500 from (start up conf) to the (andboot) folder next when i went to the ((haret)) file to execute the proses and i clicked it and then i have a weird window the says:
launch a script file.default path is the same where the executable lives.
and there is this box that have (( default.txt )) run
and then
start waiting for connection on port 9999
when you connect, you'll get a remote hardware examination tool.
listen for network connection (in a box)
(another box)
found machine generic msm7xxxa
that all in that window
and when i press (((run))) a small error window pops the says : cannot open script file /internal storage/andboot/default.txt
please help me if you can because i really want the to see the xdandroind and thanks any way so sorry for any trouble.
I'm having exactly the same problem. It runs fine on the first run but once I reboot the phone and run it again it just keeps asking for default.txt. I tried specifying startup.txt but it won't work either (it's a zero-length file anyway). This is happening with both the current builds.

I've been trying to take some screenshots on my G1 for some time now but nothing seems to work. I followed the instructions on these two pages http://www.allshadow.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4739

But ddms won't launch. Every time I click on ddms in the android-sdk-windows-1.1_r1\tools folder a cmd prompt flashes and then nothing happens.
What am I doing wrong? Or is there something wrong with my phone?
Now windows didn't prompt me to install new hardware when I plugged in my phone so I had to open Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Computer Management | Device Manager, go down to Other Devices and choose the Android phone, then right click Properties, and choose Update Driver, then browse to the specific location.
Does that make a difference?
Also I'm running on windows vista on my computer and I'm running JFv1.42 on my G1
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :]
Instead of running the batch file, have you tried to run cmd prompt first? Goto Start > Run > type in 'cmd' and hit enter. Then type in ddms and hit enter.
It seems whatever is happening, it is throwing an error once you click the batch file, so at least instead of closing you can post the error message here then it'll be clearer as to what is happening.
I opened up the cmd prompt and typed in ddms and this is what I got:
" 'ddms' is not recognised as an internal or external command, operable program, or batch file"
Does that mean that its not installed properly?
And I forgot to mention in my original post, that none of the batch files in the tools folder launch when clicked on.
Sounds like you haven't installed the SDK properly, especially the step where you add the /tools directory in the system environments.
Try this though: Copy the ddms.bat file and put it in /system32/ folder on your pc, and then try to launch cmd and run again..see if that helps.
Thanks
I figured out the problem. C:\WINDOWS\system32 wasn't in the system enviroments path

in windows, right click on my computer, go to properties, in one of the tabs, its in there.....
if you are running linux, and asking this, then you shouldn't be using linux....
Vista Home Premium...
I click on "Environment Variables" in the Advanced tab and it opens another menu, one with the option to add user variables, and one with system variables. Which one do I need to add, and what exactly do I need to add?
I tried creating a system variable with the variable name of test and the path as C:\Windows\System32 but it didn't solve the problem...
If I open cmd and cd to my sdk directory and type ddms I get:
Unable to access jarfile lib/archquery.jar
SWT folder '' does not exist.
Please set ANDROID_SWT to point to the folder containing swt.jar for your platform.
its a hell of a lot easier using eclipse, just hit the ddms tab and click the icon that looks like a picture
nobody knows how to make this work without using yet another program??
still cant figure this out
Having the same problem, when I click ddms it flashes then disappears. Any idea how to add the file path in windows 7?
If you can't get this to work - There's a nice little program in the market, simply called "screenshot" (free), that'll let you make screenshots either with a timer or by shaking the phone.
[/B]Hi,
I have downloaded and extracted the XDAndroid 2.1 .Then copied it to Storage card root.Clicked on Haret file leads me to a screen with "default.txt".Clilcking "Run" button throws the below exception: "Cannot open script file\Storage Card\default.txt.
Device: HTC Touch Pro 2 (Rhodium)
OS: WMO 6.5 Pro
Please assist.
Thanks!
I have the same problem. I believe the answer to be look at the folders that you copied over to your storage card. One of the folders is called "STARTUP CONFIG" I believe you go and pick out your phone and copy and paste the correct startup.txt in the root directory which Haret is located. I am doing it now and I got past that error, but still waiting for it to boot. It looks like it is getting stuck on an SD card error.

So I picked the startup from the RALP folder and I was stuck at the XDAndroid boot screen, so I am going to try something else.
Did you find out what was the problem.

Move "andboot\AndroidApps\startup.backup.txt" to "andboot\Default.txt""
Move "andboot\AndroidApps\startup.backup.txt" to "andboot\Default.txt" should solve this issue.

I have the same problem after starting the desktop and the icons bar on the botton, the device show the keyboard but I'm not able to move the cursor with the stylus.
please note that the device shows me only part of the keyboard, seem like that the resolution is wrong.
During the startup the font changes size. can be related to the wrong resolution??
No actions can be done with the sistem.
thanks and let me know if more information is need
This thread made me come up with a new prefix for these threads.
[LNX]
So put [LNX] in threads for Non Android Linux builds. So users can easily identify or search for specific threads.
Spread the word mate
With /dev/input/event3 it works well.
AmiPro wrote a new detection script for touchscreen.
Now Rhobuntu works on HTC ELF.
yo.. you know what is Elfin device code? i got to edit the startup.txt to make this LXDE runs on it. thanks!
Could you post your startup.txt?
Download for new init-script: http://rhobuntu.googlecode.com/files/init
Hello excuse, you could tell me how to replace the init file? I tried to follow the explanation at the beginning of the post, but I could not mount the file ubuntu.img, in any way. I tried with a live ubuntu, but it did not work. I tried to mount the. IMG file with magic disc but can not mount it. I guess not enough to replace the init file in the destination folder? I tried but during boot change the resolution, and the screen remains fixed on a keyboard in the middle where you can not interact. As was the case before ... Could you explain in detail how to replace the init file, or at least to run on the touch rhobuntu elf?If you want to write me a pm. Thanks
P.s. sorry for my bad English

Download Ubuntu LiveCD
http://www.ubuntu.com/
Run liveCD
- copy Ubuntu.img to the root of your harddisk (c:\ for example)
- open terminal
- open folder of Ubuntu.img (cd /media )
- mount Ubuntu.img ( sudo mount -o loop Ubuntu.img /mnt )
- run: sudo nautilus (FileManager)
- select "show hidden files"
- copy new init to /mnt
- close nautilus
- maybe you have to end the nautilus task in terminal with CTRL+C
- umount Ubuntu.img ( sudo umount /mnt )
- copy new init to /mnt
Thank you soo much!!!! Now Rhobuntu run well on my elf!!!!

Thanks buddy, I managed to get it installed. Mistake was mine, I copied Ubuntu.img file in ubuntu directory. as i moved it out on storage card root, it got installed.
But after installation there was a big key board on screen which i managed to drage down with stylus. but what I feel is the resolution need to be changes as it is showing everything so big.
Also, I tried to make a call to this device, we get ring at device from which I was calling, but there was nothing on the device on which I install rhobuntu. also I could not make a call from here. Can you help me in these cases.
Found something while starting rhobuntu, you may be interested to know.

**** SOLUTION - WITHOUT ROOTING *****
I searched many forms to solve the "Unable to scan network" issue. All explained how to do it after rooting and I did not want to root my phone.
Yesterday, while playing with the phone and SDK, I could repair it by deleting "bcm_supp.conf" file. This is what I did:
1. Install the SDK -> developer dot android dot com slash sdk slash index.html
(make sure the <SDK>/tools path is added to the windows path variable. My Computer -> Properties -> Advanced -> Environment Variables -> System variable -> add the SDK path at the end of Path variable )
2. On your phone, please enable (tick mark) "USB debugging" under "Settings" -> "Applications" -> "Development"
3. Connect your phone using USB to PC/Laptop. Close phone manager application if it comes up on the PC.
4. Run "ddms.bat" from <SDK>/tools directory. The DDMS application will come up and it should readily connect to your phone. (in the main screen, under Name, you should find the phone ID and SW ver. no.)
5. Go to menu Device -> File Explorer. New window will come up.
6. Here go to data -> wifi directory. You will see a file bcm_supp.conf.
7. Though it is not possible to read this file, you should be able to delete it. (at least I could delete it). You can delete the file by selecting it and then pressing red "-" on top left of the window.
8. Now close the DDMS and disconnect the USB. Enable WiFi and scan for networks. The bcm_supp.conf file will get created and you should be able to find the networks.
Please note:
1. Do this on your own risk.
2. All your previous WiFi settings are gone as you delete the file.
3. If you don't know how to install SDK, just google, you will find many forms explaining.
4. I tried to delete the file from "Terminal Emulator", but it did not allow. I guess DDMS has some special permissions.
PROBLEM
ok. i do this , and im stuck at step 6
i can not open data and mnt . rest is fine
under system/etc/wifi
there are
bcm4329_aps.bin
bcm4329_mfg.bin
bcm_4329_sta.bin
nvram_mfg.txt
nvram_net.txt
wifi.conf
wpa_supplicant.conf
and i cannot delete using the small "-" sign at the top
PLEASE HELP I REALLY NEED WIFI CUZ I DONT USE MY 3G
I know that this is a late reply, but thanks, it'd been doing my head in, deleted wpa_supplicant.conf, bang, all working again
I'm sort of a newbie in this and I have that problem with my Mytouch 4G, where it says it is "unable to scan for networks". I've tried everything and even this seems complicated (with my lack of know-how). So, if you could repost this as if you were explaining it to a five-year-old or perhaps make a video showing the process, I would readily appreciate that. But I really need help because this issue is very frustrating.
Please Help!
hey guys, so i got to step 6 and im stuck there, im unable to to open data file, is there a solution for that ?
That is a configuration file, not to mention that it is a system file. You should NOT modify this file unless you know what you are doing. These files are used to configure application(s) settings and server processes.
Great forum, lots of great information. I want to flash a Spanish language ROM to an HTC Excalibur, I have read a lot of the threads related to doing this and I have downloaded most of the tools as well as the ROM.
I want to do a ROM dump of the OEM ROM just in case anything goes wrong.
1) Instructions for using bkondisk.exe says
prun bkondisk [targetdir]
I need more detailed instructions, if I run this from a command prompt in Win XP it just says prun is not a recognized as a command, program or batch file.
do I have to navigate to a directory on the phone? It just says 'mobile device' location is "my documents" which is weird because I don't see my documents anywhere.
I have copied bkondisk.exe and the tools from itsutils to the windows directory on the phone.
2) general question about all .exe files eg. typical instructions will say
Run the SDA Application Unlock.exe.
Right now the file SDA Application Unlock.exe is downloaded to my PC. Where do I copy it to on the phone before running it?
I cannot run any .exe files copied to the phone.
All files which I have copied to the phone it says "converting to mobile phone format" while copying.
Any .exe file copied thusly if I double click on it it will not execute, it just shows the file size and info.
I tried running the file SDA Application Unlock from the phone's file explorer, when I did it just said "SDA Application Unlock is not a valid Windows CE program"
Summary: basically two problems, where do I put these files to be able to run them, and why is it when I copy them to my phone I can't get them to execute?
