[Q] Gen Y DualBoot for Rhodium - General Questions and Answers

I have a T-mobile Touch Pro 2. I have the Project Android icon in my start screen and it loads perfectly fine. My issues are trying to get the Auto Boot to run. When the phone loads from pwer up, I get the Gen Y DualBoot screen, but it keeps telling me that Android is missing. Im sure that its a simple case of changing a txt log or moving a file around, but I'm just not seeing in here in the forums.... Anyone got any suggestions.

Did you installed android in the root directory[ of your sdcard]?

Keep in mind that your android setup must be installed already at the root of your storage card in order for this app to work correctly (e.g. \Internal Storage\haret.exe or \Storage Card\haret.exe respectively)

yes, it installed as part of the andboot file......do i need to remove the Haret.exe from the andboot and have it on root by itself?

I've got the same issue. Any suggestions? I've already made sure all of the switches were right and also edited the registry...

Ok...here's the solution:
I had to go back and re-read the original post here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623792 ...the solution is there. The string that needs edited (v1.0.6.0 and newer: "AndroidBootFolder"="string" ("": boot from root of storage (e.g. \Storage Card\haret.exe)| "andboot": boot from \Storage Card\Andboot\haret.exe, string can be edited in registry) doesn't need the full path typed. It just needed the word "andboot" (no quotes) inserted, and then voila!
Good luck.

Can't replace wince.nls
I have a Win Mobile Phone Edition 5, very first one in U.S.
I tried to load chinese so that I can read chinese. I copy over font file and am able to see Chinese in Word, providing that I select options.
However I got issues with IE, because I there is no option for me to change the encoding.
I learned that I need to change wince.nls file. And I downloaded your file. Now I got an issue "Access Denied" message when I try to override original wince.nls. Looks like it was in ROM.
Any idea?
Thanks
you should use another file explorer other than the system's one, and then you can overwrite it
the tool is in the attachment(it's in chinese language), it's a green software
The attribute is grayed out.
Thanks for your prompt response and the program.
maybe i did not use it right, some how the menu of the program is mess up. see the attached.
I have Resco Explorer 2005, which also show wince.nls is in rom. Every time I change the other attributes, it changes back when I re-open property page.
While I have a pocket PC 2003 Dell x3. The wince.nls is not rom file.
Can I override rom file?
It is about mid night here in U.S. I will check back first thing in the morning, just in case you do not get response from me right away.
Again, thanks for your help.
on wm2003 it was possible to "override" files in ROM.
Now it is not.
You have to wait until we'll be able to decompress the ROM and inject your wince.nls into ROM.

ok, i've downloaded your chinese.rar to test-it ...
i've replaced the wince.nls with this procedure
in \windows\ , i've renamed wince.nls to wince5.nls
got an error message "Can't delete wince.nls" , but it's renamed
Copy the new wince.nls to \windows\
Copy fonts to \windows\fonts\
import reg file ... modified
soft-reset
...
Anything appears ...
i'm not able to choose chinese in regional settings
In the registry , after soft-resest , nls automaticly set to "0409"
if i set to 0804 and soft-reset , poof .... 0409
I think there is another problem
OK, I will wait.
One another thing I noticed: through ActiveSync, I can create a folder in windows, (well, as you expect). But I can't copy the wince.nls file to even the newly created folder, not just windows folder. On my PC, the message saying... no space or no permission, etc. I do have like 3-4mb left in main storage and install other program.
Just for your infomation.
it is easily possible to copy wince.nls to your \Windows folder. Just create a cab for it.
But it is not taken into system... That;s the problem here...
Will look at it further...

I'm success to copy it in my himalaya. I had tried several method, one of them is o.k. but not sure is this one or not.
1) copy the wince.nls to somewhere in your SD Card.
2) Boot your Himalaya into Safe Mode.
3) Then copy the wince.nls to your Himalaya's \windows\
4) Soft Reset.
Do you mean that you can choose the Chinese region now?

only 1.60b could be chineselization
I had tried to replace wince.nls in WM2K5_160C_WWE in various ways mentioned in xda-dev forum. none of them could be finished this job.
so i had to refresh my rom to 1.60b, everything is OK now. I can override the wince.nls, import *.reg, set regional to PRChina and so on.
expecting a perfect WM2K5_160C supproting Simple Chinese.

Hi buzz:
I have got a SD image from a Himalaya which rom is CHS version, it's backup from a friend of mine. He got it from the seviece center. but when i use this image to flash my himalya, i replaced the SD head, write it to my SD card and flash...finished, hard reset, and I got an error like this:
"Device authentication failure. Please contact the product manufacture. For reference, please provide your device ID.

Then I found a way to convert the SD image to a .nbf file for the xda-developers site. converted and flashed using the PC through cable, but the same "Device authentication failure..." error occucred again.
And then, I asked my friend flash the SD image to his device which the image came from. succeeded

I have the same problem after starting the desktop and the icons bar on the botton, the device show the keyboard but I'm not able to move the cursor with the stylus.
please note that the device shows me only part of the keyboard, seem like that the resolution is wrong.
During the startup the font changes size. can be related to the wrong resolution??
No actions can be done with the sistem.
thanks and let me know if more information is need
This thread made me come up with a new prefix for these threads.
[LNX]
So put [LNX] in threads for Non Android Linux builds. So users can easily identify or search for specific threads.
Spread the word mate
With /dev/input/event3 it works well.
AmiPro wrote a new detection script for touchscreen.
Now Rhobuntu works on HTC ELF.
yo.. you know what is Elfin device code? i got to edit the startup.txt to make this LXDE runs on it. thanks!
Could you post your startup.txt?
Download for new init-script: http://rhobuntu.googlecode.com/files/init
Hello excuse, you could tell me how to replace the init file? I tried to follow the explanation at the beginning of the post, but I could not mount the file ubuntu.img, in any way. I tried with a live ubuntu, but it did not work. I tried to mount the. IMG file with magic disc but can not mount it. I guess not enough to replace the init file in the destination folder? I tried but during boot change the resolution, and the screen remains fixed on a keyboard in the middle where you can not interact. As was the case before ... Could you explain in detail how to replace the init file, or at least to run on the touch rhobuntu elf?If you want to write me a pm. Thanks
P.s. sorry for my bad English

Download Ubuntu LiveCD
http://www.ubuntu.com/
Run liveCD
- copy Ubuntu.img to the root of your harddisk (c:\ for example)
- open terminal
- open folder of Ubuntu.img (cd /media )
- mount Ubuntu.img ( sudo mount -o loop Ubuntu.img /mnt )
- run: sudo nautilus (FileManager)
- select "show hidden files"
- copy new init to /mnt
- close nautilus
- maybe you have to end the nautilus task in terminal with CTRL+C
- umount Ubuntu.img ( sudo umount /mnt )
- copy new init to /mnt
Thank you soo much!!!! Now Rhobuntu run well on my elf!!!!

did you replaced the init file?
Thanks buddy, I managed to get it installed. Mistake was mine, I copied Ubuntu.img file in ubuntu directory. as i moved it out on storage card root, it got installed.
But after installation there was a big key board on screen which i managed to drage down with stylus. but what I feel is the resolution need to be changes as it is showing everything so big.
Also, I tried to make a call to this device, we get ring at device from which I was calling, but there was nothing on the device on which I install rhobuntu. also I could not make a call from here. Can you help me in these cases.
Found something while starting rhobuntu, you may be interested to know.
While starting rhobuntu from haret.exe at one point it shows starting ophono daemon something, where it says can't create signal descriptor file. is it helpful to resolve this issue?
Gourav
Hi,
Got installed the Rhobuntu can access it. Facing two issues on it as follows;
1. Phone function not working as ofono daemon says - can not create signal filedescriptor: Function not implemented
2. Resolution are not as per device.
Please anybody help me to get all this working.

[Q] Pola100 NAND Install

Hello every one!
I have a problem installing Android to my Polaris 100 in NAND, and I hope You can help me.
I followed the tutorial for NAND install on androidhtc wiki.
The problem is when I boot it says: "Install module for this kernel apply modules/androidupdate.tgz"
I downloaded from wiki androidupdate.tgz, put it in andboot folder reboot the device with vol up holding then, I selected install update and I get an error: "can`t open /sdcard/andboot/androidupdate.tar no shuch file or directory"
I have noticed the difference in extensions so I opened androidupdate.tgz and saw that androidupdate.tar is inside. I extracted androidupdate.tar from androidupdate.tgz and put it in andboot on sdcard. But i get the same error.
I have also tried with Mixer in latest Atool 1.1.4 to merge androidinstall and androidupdate but on boot i get: "Install module for this kernel apply modules/androidupdate.tgz" androidinstall.tar is also from androidhtc the release is system-froyo-all-unodex-15-01-11_18
Thank You for Your time, best regards Ivan
first mode problem:
did you place the file in andboot before click install update?
(left the file as it is, do not extract)
second mode problem:
after merging the module and the androidinstall did you extract and repack?
did you reinstall with the new android install?
@first mode problem
I have tried both, androidupdate.tgz with androidupdate.tar in it, which was originally downloaded as that from androidhtc wiki. And i have tried extracting androidupdate.tgz and put androidupdate.tar in andboot folder but I get the same error.
@second mod problem
Again i tried both ways same error...
I don`t get the last part "did you reinstall with the new android install?", I did not managed to install android on NAND at all.
BTW it`s confusing having files in multiple archives so what`s correct? Androidinstall.tar in androidinstall.tgz or just androidinstall.tar whit system folder in it? When i merge androidupdate.tgz and androidinstall.tgz with Atool I get androidinstall.tgz with androidinstall.tgz in it...
Best regards Ivan
metalac666
What i think liquid means is:
When you open Atools and you are at the mixer,
you need to apply the right module update and save it!
So here is my suggestion:
Put the Android OS in one folder on your desktop, and the update in another folder on your desktop. Also create a new folder (maybe name it andboot)where you will put the outcome of the mixing aka the new androidinstall!
Open the mixer, load the OS as usual, then click "Module update", and when it asks for a working directory point it to the folder where the update is in!!
Then mix them, and DONT FORGET to save the new androidinstall (wich comes from this procedure) on the folder i mentioned before.
hope i helped
@makousika
Thank You for the tip.
If I undersood correctly, I have to put androidinstall in folder lets call it Folder A, and androidupdate in another folder lets call it Folder B. So when I`m at Mix in atool i should add my androidinstall which is in Folder A, set a working direcotory which is Folder B, which contains androidupdate and click on Module update which download androidupdate...??? Extract it with that button that looks like Debian logo and click on save button to get my new androidinstall.
Well if I did undertood that correctly it does not work for me unfortunately.
Best regards Ivan
No, no, maybe i said it wrong...
Lets call Folder A the folder where the androidinstall is in.
And call Folder B the folder where the update is.
you open the rom mix, you hit the add icon and select Folder A.
Then, you hit the button at the right (looks like a brown box with an arrow poinitng down) the one saying "Module update". If you press it, it asks for a working directory, and you put folder B.
You mix, save, and hopefully you are done!!
If you cant do it, i have a thread where i've put up a build, take a look.
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=921053
@makousika
I saw Your thread and tried to run Android via Haret, at first it did not work and then it hit me. I was formating my sdcard, and it changed my partition table from primary to logical. I used EASEUS Partition Master Home Edition to reformat my sdcard and change partition table from logycal to primary. Android is working via haret, probably that is why NAND install did not want to start.I will post tomorrow (today) was this really the issue for above mentioned NAND install problem that i had.
Best regards Ivan
Well ill be damned! The problem was in partition table. I have successfully installed android in nand on my pola100.
Best regards Ivan
Hi! I have the same problem in my Polaris 100 (Install module for this kernel apply modules/androidupdate.tgz). Kernel 2.6.25 was runing well but wifi wasn't working.

[Q] FRX.07.1 on HTC Raphael - No screen calibration possible

Hey guys,
I have a (german) HTC Diamond Pro (Raphael) and after "some" tweaking, I managed to install FRX.07.1. Problem is that I can't calibrate the screen. During the boot process, it says "Using saved screen calibration", even after I deleted the ts-calibration file from the directory. I tried a new kernel (Kernel 1225), the latest ts-calibration file- nothing changed. I don't get the five dots/spots to calibrate the screen, so it's completely messed up. I can't even unlock by swiping across the screen because of that....it's really frustrating and I'm extremely thankful for every bit of help. So: What can I do?
Summary:
- screen can't be calibrated, is messed up
- I tried other ts-calibration files
- I tried to force calibration by deleting the ts-calibration files
which raph? Mine is a Japanese raph 100, and I was able to make a calibration on the first install of frx 07. It was tough to do because the screen flooded with text but I was able to get it done.
Can you try to install frx06 or 07 to get a calibration file?
Have you tried THIS yet? Preferably after a format of the microSD
Alternatively, you could save your current configuration by zipping up the contents of the microSD into a single file and then start fresh (after a format) and run the kernel mentioned to get the ts-calib file. After that, copy the ts-calib file to your computer and format your microSD. After you extract what you have saved, copy over the ts-calib file over as well and see if that works.

[Q] task rpcrouter:15 blocked (CDMA)

Same as posted here "I have an HTC [differing: Touch Pro (Alltel CDMA)]. I followed the instruction on forum.xda-developers.com for [FRX*] but it [enters an endless loop] at "task rpcrouter:15 blocked for more than 120 sec". The solution that worked in that link does not solve the same problem with a CDMA RAPH800.
The solution given there (paraphrased from that thread):
Link to the fix. The issue is caused by not having a data plan; the install gets stuck in a loop looking for a signal.
The solution that worked for a GSM phone
download RIL file from http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...9&d=1302817139 and place in the root of microsd.
download rootfs file from http://www.megaupload.com/?d=1NGCVCTT and place in the root of microso.
add to the end of /conf/froyo.user.conf file "/sdcard/libhtcgeneric-ril.so /lib/froyo/libhtcgeneric-ril.so" before the last "}"
Please help me find a solution for a CDMA phone - next month I'd like to take a dozen of these phones and use them as learning aids in a construction course for laborers, but I cannot start testing construction applications since I cannot get the OS to work.
I'm curious as to what happens when you format your microSD and run FRX7.1MR without anything additional. Could I get you to try this method without the additional stuff?
To be explicit, I'd like you to format your microSD with something other than the Windows method and I'd like you to download THIS (if you haven't already) and THIS. Extract the contents of both files to the root of your microSD. You should see a folder called "FRX07.1" and under that folder, you should see 3 folders and 7 files. Move the contents of that folder up to the root of the microSD. Look under the folder called "STARTUPS" and locate your device type (ie RAPH800) and copy over to the root of your microSD. Once done, run Haret on your phone and let me know what happens.
do you have an application you suggest for "format your microSD with something other than the Windows method"; sourceforge did not turn up anything.

use SDFormatter
wow that SDformatter link has a lot of popups - this link feels less like I just found a date at the bus-stop sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_3 ; but it will not install on either Server2008R2 x64 or Server2003 R2 SP2 x32.
I reformatted the microSd with the format tool in Server2008R2 as FAT format. Installed the files, and boom - I see little green guys swirling around the screen. After awhile a dialog appeared "Sorry! The process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"; the dialog closed and it seems like it works! Thank you. I will try again with the HPtool and as FAT32.
Now I just need to learn how to use Android - and the screen calibration seems off? Deleting ts-calibration and rebooting to calibrate.
Glad to hear using the latest bundle works for you! Yeah, that might be a slight issue with an outdated kernel. The main thing I wanted to do is get you booted up first!
Before we continue, make sure you make a backup of your current configuration by copying the contents of the microSD and either moving it to your computer or some other storage device. This way you know you have a "working" bundle.
Next we update the kernel package from HERE; might I suggest using THIS kernel package. Be sure to delete the old files (should be located under root of the microSD and called modules-xxx and zImage) first! Extract till you see two files then rename zImage-xxx to just zImage and feel free to delete the files you extracted from. I've always created my own ts-calibration file but just wanted you to have it, "just in case".
Additionally, you may also need to update the rootfs by deleting the file called rootfs and downloading THIS file. Extract the file and rename to just rootfs and be sure to place it where the file called Haret is (default location is root of the microSD).
files are downloaded and installed - everything seems to work
