Hey guys
I try to make my homescreen look more "personal" if you understand what I mean
So I made some pictures for the apps and folders.
The apps I easily replaced with a shortcut, but for the folders i couldn't find a good solution, because I don't like the labels of Folder Organizer.
Is there any possibility with Folder Organizer to create a folder (with my own icon) which is like the stock-folders? With drag & drop apps into it.
Or is there another App which can do that?
Thank you
FireRider

short answer is yes.
with folder organizer you can import icons and type in your own nanes
Left Screenhot: Mine! No shades behind the FolderOrganiter Widget font...
Right Screenshot: Found on the internet! And there are Shades behind the FolderOrganizer Widget font
Why?? How can i do that. You see my white background... i can't read the widget. Only normal apps' fonts are readable...

Description
Version: 1.5.5
Organize your Android applications using labels
You can create a label shortcut (or a widget) with a custom icon on Android home (long touch on home and select shortcut)
1.5: widget support, if you have "Apps label" bug please use widgets instead of shortcuts
I'm using Android Mate.
Organises your apps, has a file explorer, and an installer... 3 in 1 app.
this + titaniumbackup = easy and organized backups ( apps organizer integrates directly into it )
Folderorganizer is nearly the same : Organize Applications, Bookmarks and Contacts using labels and create home folders with custom icons.
Okay so you know how can you make a folder Widget on your home screen?
I want to do that and make a folder for Media, Internet, Utility, etc but I can't rename the folders. They all just say "Folder" is there a way I can rename it to "Media" or whatever I want?
If not is there a widget that does the same thing, but lets me rename the folder icons on my home?
Long press and hold on the folder title bar will allow you to rename folders
Took a, while to find that out

Holy crap thanks. That's kinda weird. I though you would long click the Folder Icon itself (but that's to move/delete it)
PS There is an App for XDA?

There sure is
go to the XDA-Portal and scroll to the bottom of the page and there is a link for the Android XDA App
is it possible to have folders on your homescreen like the iphone does? instead of having a plain boring folder icon, can we have an icon that shows all the icons inside of the folder?
I use Apps Organizer. Doesn't do exactly what u want, but does provide u with the ability to select ur own icon. Perhaps look into Folder Organizer. Seems like I have seen a screenshot showing what u r describing. Both of these apps are available in the market.

yeah just got folder orginizer, does pretty good
Try with SIMI Folder its great
Go launcher has this feature in app drawer though, not sure if this feature is available in homescreen...
Is it possible to change the icons within the App Drawer? I figured out you could just edit each .apk file when rooted, but I don't know for sure how to do that. And maybe there is just an easier method with a ROM. If the MIUI ROM would have that kind of option it would be awesome!
Also, Go Launcher EX (and probably more launchers) is capable of putting apps into folders in the app drawer. The icon of the folder is then a kind of preview of the apps within it. That is not really that bad, but it would be nice to be able to change the Go Launcher EX folder icons as well. Since there is no .apk file for the folder to change it with, I can't think of a way to do that.
In short, what I want is this: being able to create folders in the app drawer and change all icons (and also remove text beneath the icons) in the app drawer, including the folder icon.
I know, I am a nitpick, but I just want it all to match .
To change the icons in the app drawer you need to edit each and every apk file and change the innate icon therein.

Ok, so no easy way?
And about my other questions? I know it is possible to create folders in the app drawer with Go Launcher EX, but what you see isn't really an icon, it is a preview of the apps within it. And I suppose I can't change that, but it would be nice.
Or if there is another launcher/rom that can create folder in the app drawer (and then change the icon of that folder), that's OK too.
So i found the thread with all the icons in the world and got some i would like to use for my TF.
I have been able to use them on the folders i created with folder organizer.
Butttttt.. i have not been able to find a way to change the icons/create icons for installed apps.
I tried anycut and desktop visualizer but they make the icons smaller and have different font.
on my phone i used to use shortercut i believe but this is not available for tablets.
so how could i get this done?
any suggestions?
Thanks.
Folder Organizer can do it. Go to apps, select the app you want to change, select icon.

that only changes the icons you see in the folders of folder organizer doesnt it?
it doesnt let you change them and see them that way on the home screen.
You can change an icon for any app you place on the home screen so long as you use Folder Organizer to do it.
Go into Folder Organizer select your app and change it's icon to one you specify.
Next go to add an item to the home screen and go to more and select Folder Organizer Item.
Next select apps and select the app that you changed the icon to.
There you go, you should now have a custom iconed app on your home screen.
w00t, your right.. awesome!
Just what i wanted.
Thanks..
Glad you got it working. Incidentally, you can also change icons with ADWLauncher EX just in case your interested.
Cheers...
When I want to permanently change an icon (well not permanently since it can be undone) I use apk edit. Just type it in the search bar and it should pop up. Or you can just apply them with a launchers such as Go Launcher, Launcher Pro, and ADW

There are some cool icons in Coca Cola ROM (internet & messaging) that I like, but don't like the apps themselves. Can I change the icons of the apps I do like, to start using the icons from the apps that I don't like?
I'm using ADW EX launcher. I found that if I long press an icon, I can change the icon picture. But it doesn't show me where to go to find the other app icons.
I couldn't figure out how to do it the way I wanted.
But I did come up with a workaround.
Just do a Titanium backup on the app who has the icons you want. Then extract the .apk folder to your Windows desktop. Then open it and navigate to res\drawable-hdpi and in there you'll find the icon .png file. Just place that into your DCIM folder on your SD card (where your camera pictures are).
Then go to your phone.
Press and hold on the app who's icon you want to change. Then click on change picture, gallery, and select the icon that you placed in there.
And voila.... new icon for your app!
If that's your first time going into folders like that make sure you don't touch a ".9" image.

that's probably the best way, without making a new APKand swapping out ur current one, nice job
