No that's frame work. Check out teenfaces post. His changes the status bar. Mine changes JUST the icons in the settings menu and the power control widget.

Power widget show a white spot behind it, not clear. The backup assistant isnt themed either.

Anyway to get the stock settings back until this is fixed?

There's a new link in the op.
I also asked people to make a back up of the original settings in the first post.

Nm....good job.

What do you use to modify the settings.apk file?

Thanks. Note to self... Don't release themes right before leaving on vacation... Lol
To change it, I just pulled the settings.apk from my phone then used 7 zip to input the images I wanted.
Edit: please note the images I have swapped are not ones I have created. Its a mash up of numerous images from multiple themes from multiple devs. I never intended to give the assumption I created every part.
I have no skills with photoshop or any other image software. Like I stated in the beginning, all credit goes to the real dev's. I just modded my own files and decided to share them.

Why not do a backup of the file yourself?
It's located in /system/app

/system/appDatamanagerApp.apk
then
/res/drawable-hdpi/ic_menu_data_management.png
Let me know if that's it and if it works.

I think he applied the settings before a back up. No worries.
I see the image your talking about. That one will work for now. Need to find someone to make me an image sorta like the images in windows when you look at free space on a hard drive....

You can just snag the icon they used and put it in with yours.
And it's not really stealing since it's one of the icons used in the stock appDatamanagerApp.apk

Honestly I almost used that one, but compared to the others it just looks to plain.
I found a sweet one, after a google image search, but need someone to make the background transparent.
I think I will put it in for now just to semi finish this one.

[Metamorph] Google Talk Colorful Icon & Notification

01-05-10 Update: Updated control file to .xml to be compatible with newest Metamorph. v1.1 is the new version, but the older ones including .thm control files are still there for people holding over.
20-04-10 Update: Added a notification icon. The first zip is still just the launcher icon, and the second includes both the launcher, and notification icons.
Compatible ROMs/Devices
Cyanogenmod 5 - 7.0 (Tested and works, and will most likely work for any version)
Nexus 1/Droid
Those are the only two phones I have verified that work. If you get it to work, let me know and I"ll add it to the list.
Got tired of the straight up blue text so I made it look more like the splash screen text, and sort of what the 1.5 looked like. I have two options, grab the .png and copy over the icon within the Talk.apk and push it back to your /system/app folder, or metamorph.
Let me know what you think. If this is a grey area because it's a Google trademark just delete the post, or let me know and I'll remove it.
Directions:
Download the zip and use MetaMorph like normal to apply a theme.
or
Make a backup of your original Talk.apk
Pull your Talk.apk from /system/app or just copy it to your sdcard.
Open the archive (don't need to extract it) and drag the .png into it, and overwrite the old one. Update the archive if it prompts you.
*If something stops working, just replace it with your backup, or reinstall the gapps. I'm not responsible for anything that happens to your phone.*
#As root, copy apk and modify it from your computer
#as root make /system read/write
#copy the updated Talk.apk or push it from adb
#remount as read only
#sync filesystem
#exit root, and terminal and the new icon will appear
#restarting launcher or rebooting will fix the icon text in launcher
su
cp /system/app/Talk.apk /sdcard
exit
exit
#follow directions to modify the archive and place it back on sdcard or push it directly
su
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/mtdblock3 /system
cp /sdcard/Talk.apk /system/app (or from the folder Talk.apk is in) adb push Talk.apk /system/app
mount -o ro,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/mtdblock3 /system
sync
exit
exit
Looks nice.
hope you make som more icon skins
I really like it. Nice work.
Think you could give the voice icon some love?
That's what I wanted to do, but I'm still trying to figure out what it should be. The only idea I have would be making a G into the handset.
Works great using metamorph, thanks.

I'm on a droid, and know it works for both, but I can't really say if it works on G1. Only one way to find out though. Backup your Talk.apk and test it out.
Its pretty easy to switch icons. I wanted to change all my stock icons to the HTC Desire icons. Using adb I just pulled the APK's I wanted (Browser.apk, Mms.apk, etc). In adb I typed "pull /system/app/Browser.apk C:/apps" and that put the Browser.apk on my C:/ drive, and into the apps folder I created.
I then zipped the apk using winrar (Browser.rar) and then opened up the apk file. I found the stock Browser icon in the "drawable" folder and renamed the icon I created to the same as the stock. I then dragged my icon into the folder replaced the stock icon. It asked me to update archive, click yes. Now the Browser.rar is updated with your new icon. Now open up the rar again and drag the apk to your desktop.
I then went back into adb and pushed the apk back.
"push Browser.apk /system/app/" then type "adb reboot" and when you phone reboots the new icon should have replaced the old ones.
Or you can do this using Root Explorer.
Copy your new apk to scard. From root explorer move the apk to /system/app/ (make sure to mount r/w access from within root explorer). Then from terminal emulator type:
su
chmod 644 /system/app/Browser.apk
sync
reboot

i dont know if you know how to do this, but would a morph be possible to move the battery % on cyan rom to the center?
i've found a morph, however it replaces the whole battery icon, and i personally use the android guy battery icon.
if this is irrelevant, just ignore

To be honest, I'm only sort of a script-kiddie, so I have no idea how to edit the framework just yet. I just got back into grad school, so I should hopefully have some more time on my hands for stuff like this when I start in August, so we'll see. I'm actually trying to make a Voice icon, but haven't had much time. This was really easy because I just had to resize, edit the theme control file, and repack it.

unless its metamorphed then it will change ur icons at the top. the png is in the framework files so what ever the framework file where someone changes the png will also change the icons that are in the framework file. like mentioned above the only other alternative is to use a metamorph to just change that one file.
Can you point me in the direction to that through metamorph?

Try this
Code:
adb remount
adb pull /system/app/LiveWallpapers.apk LiveWallpapers.apk
That will pull your old Live wallpapers. Put those where you can find them later and put the new LiveWallpaper.apk in your <sdk>/tools folder (because you can't have two files with the same name in the same directory).
Then proceed as directed in the first post.

No settings. Just the option to save it. You can probably change the back ground though by pulling apart the .apk
** EDIT **
Okay, so I tried opening the apk and replacing the droid_bg.jpg only to find out whatever I replace it with comes up as a blank white screen (I even sized it to the odd 1025x1025 size the old one was even though both of them had large white areas in the .jpg). If anybody else wants to give it a try, I am attaching the wallpaper I was trying to use. It is the default regular wallpaper from the Droid X

I'm a total newbie, so I haven't rooted yet. I don't think I'm considered a "power user" yet, so I didn't want to accidentally brick my phone. I came over from blackberry, so I'm still getting used to this new system. Soon enough I'll be getting my hands dirty with this rooting business.
Anyways, I don't have the ability to pull the original Live Wallpapers... would it be possible for someone else to pull theirs, and post the APK online for me? I've been using "AppInstaller" to implement all of the APK's I've downloaded. Just been playing around with the Galaxy S LWPs. If it's a hassle, don't worry about it. I'll figure root soon enough.
Thanks for the quick reply, by the way!!
Can someone upload a version thats not .apk so i can download it on my phone, im at work
standalone version
Credit to ccunningham83 for posting this.
Standalone version
This is what I did:
decompiled,
changed the package and app name,
removed LWPs that install by default,
rebuilt,
signed
updates:
1)removed unnecessary images too, file size now 1.1MB
2)added Blue, Cyan, Green and Golden eyes!
3)added a blue eye version with alternate background.
4) 7/15/10, added grey version by request.
5) 8/30/10, by request added a red version with black background. No smoke.
6) 9/15/2010, by request added a new red version with the smoked grey background
7) 1/20/2011, green eye with colored smoke
Screenshots:
To uninstall:
Code:
adb uninstall com.android.wallpaperx
APK attached, install as normal.
MediaFire Links:
[blue] [cyan] [gold] [green] [red] [blue-alternate bg]
[grey]
[red-greybg]
[green-colored smoke bg]
Here is a video by myghtymouse19 showing all versions on an EVO:
I had issues trying to remount so copied the file to the root of SD then used Root Explorer to copy and paste as R/W into /system/apps/ then click on the the apk and install it... then youll have it. Also even though you overwrite the default wallpapers, this file is the default wallpapers file with one file added the droid x eye lwp, thats all... so your not loosing anything.
Thanks Britoso! Works great!
Brilliant work guys, especially britoso.
Just adding that this also works fine on the Desire. I just used Astro to install britoso's .apk and it worked fine. It even kept all my current Live Wallpapers and just added DROID X to them.
Hope no-one minds but I made a post in the Desire forum pointing to this thread to share the love!
Thanks again,
Oz
Well it got 4 views, but now link to the attachment is broken....any particular reason, Britoso?
EDIT: Nevermind, back up. Thanks
many thanks to you, britoso! the file worked beautifully

well i asked a question right before you posted "answer:" and your "answer:" had nothing to do with my question. what an @$$h0le you are. or atleast made yourself look to be. anyways, its not a big deal.
You can follow these steps to pull the smoke news widget out of the smoked theme mentioned. These steps also apply for the news widget. A lot of the time I do not have ADB accessible and this method can be completed with only the phone.
- Save the smoke.zip file to your sdcard (this is the smoke theme already mentioned in this thread)
- Open Root Exporer and navigate to /system/app/ and mount it as R/W
- Move the stock geniewidget.apk to the SD card (/sdcard) in case you want it back later.
- Now navigate to the smoke.zip file, press on it and choose view.
- Navigate to the smoke.zip /system/app/ folder and copy the geniewidget.apk to your phones /system/app folder.
- Most important part now - long-press on the file and click on permissions from the pop-up menu. Permissions should be "read" for user/group/others and "write" for only user. All other boxes unchecked. If you don't do this it wont load.
- Restart phone and the transparent widget should be good to go.
This wont work for all apps - so make sure to keep the originals if you are getting creative. You can apply this across handsets, but try to stay away from system-dependent apps like cameras and power control widgets.

Im the asshole but you answered to something that had nothing to do with you right? I never was answering your question, I was answering to the OP obviously what you do when you post in a thread...you respond to the original post but ok, i guess so... maybe next time.
Anyway, he updated the app again so anybody who decided to use the app in the link i posted, go and update. =)
I'm just about ready to give up. I have been trying for a couple of days to make mine look like the pick I posted. Can't seem to get it done. It's really not that important, just thought it would match the other sense widgets a little better.
This is as close as I could get. For some reason I cannot get rid of that blue background in the widget, must not be editing the right file.

[request] Themed 3G icon

can anyone post up a themed version of the stock or new MIUI rom flashable 3G indicator, themed to match this (or both):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788214
Thanks!
Do you mean you're after:
A theme for MIUI which has the 3G icons from that theme
or
That theme with the MIUI 3G icons?
Josh.

^Same^ but likt the one from the smooth blue theme that is a blue 3G indicator. Or JUST the stock HTC 3G indicator in blue if possible. Thanks

I know. I really want it lol, because i kinda hate the 3G indicator in the theme i have currently, as it's hard to see the upload/download arrows, so i just wanted a flashable indicator so I dont lose the cool notification pulldown
I can edit it with photoshop if I can find it. Can anyone give me a hint to the file path?
EDIT: Hah...ok I suck and fail.
I found the apk and edited the images. Looked great. Put the apk back together. Unistalled the original apk and tried to install my modified apk. Would not install. I'm done with it for now. I guess I will read up on signing tomorrow although I thought I had read that system apps didn't need to be signed.
I'll play with it more tomorrow.
do adb pull /system/framework/framework-res.apk
And the images should n in the drawable-hdpi. Folder if not just look around until u find the images
Then pull the framework from your current Rom and replace your images with the images you want then repush your framework hack to the phone and reboot

If you figure it out can you pack a zip of just the 3g icon in blue as well for me?
Thanks man
Thanks for the tips. With a little help from google, I was able to figure it out.
Which icon did you need exactly? The 3g toggle or the notification bar?
well, i did it and replaced some old icons with cooler looking ones, but the 3g icons (along with similar data icons) did not show up. all of the other ones showed up. also, i read a thread where this dude got 4g icons from another rom and installed them on his phone to make it look like he had 4g, but then hours later, he experienced loss of mobile data... and now i think i am too... any suggestions?
I'm sorry I can't help you. I am learning all this myself and wouldn't pretend to know where to start on that. All I can say is that if you are going to make any changes then backup early and often.
The 3g toggle icons I was looking for were in system/app. I merely reskinned them and dropped them back in.

i wanted notification bar icon
I'm running a theme and mine is already skinned. I think either way you would still have to adb push it onto your phone. I did some googling and took a crash course on changing system icons.
Once I figured it out, it made sense (i know that sounds stupid, but after i did it, I was like oh yeah I get it now). I know that's not a big help, but I'm new to this and wouldn't want to bork your phone. Maybe someone more knowledgable will come save the day.
Otherwise I would google in terms like editing apks and adb pull adb push etc. and maybe you will figure it out too.
Hell I can't wait to ruin my phone now that I am armed and dangerous =)

Lol, i actuallly finally figured out how to extract the png's, so i am going to edit in photoshop, then replace the current images with the app ninjamorph.
*didnt work* left a huge blank space on noti. bar and when I rebooted to see if it would show, I bootlooped*
Well. I spent last night learning to resign edited apk files, so literally nothing on my phone is safe now.

Is there any way to pack the png's so that I can flash them or install as an apk?
Anyone know how I'd do this? I already have the edited png's.
Can I send any of you guys the folder with the icons and you can help me out with this?
Thanks again
It seems the easiest way to change or theme icons is to not unzip them. Just open them with 7zip and make your changes, then close it. They will stay compressed and all of the info and size will remain intact.
Once changed you will have to resign the apk or zip file.
I spent the better part of 2 hours reading up on it using these forums and google, but I do not in any way feel knowledgable enough to instruct you on the finer points. There are oodles of topics on editing apk's and signing them when you are finished.
The steps seem pretty clear:
1. download or pull apk
2. open with 7zip
3. make changes keeping sizes and file names the same
4. close
5. re-sign the apk or zip file (most likely have to delete the existing files to the original signing which will be replaced with your own)
6. push or install the zip or apk (make sure the original app is uninstalled prior to reinstalling the changed app)
There are various methods and tools. The most helpful thread I found on signing is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=473580
I hope this covers it all and is helpful to you. I am new at it and can only tell you to backup everything and if you are unclear on any of it, then don't attempt it.
Read all the posts related to it. There is great info and plenty of feedback on known issues or mistakes others have had.
