Make Google Calendar the Default - Captivate General

Anybody know how to do this, it is extremely annoying to have to remember to select google calendar every time you make an entry.
http://androidforums.com/samsung-ca...-calendar-default-when-adding-new-events.html

Has anyone figured this out yet? I HATE that I can not change this to default to google's calendar instead of "my calendar"

I agree this is really annoying. I've had to go back and change multiple entries because I forgot to make that adjustment when creating an event.
However in the link above someone made the suggestion of downloading Jorte calendar because it has setting to make google the default. Did you guys give that a try?

I tried Jorte, don't really like it to be honest, feels a bit cluttered and unintuitive to me.
Still waiting for a better alternative...

I'm using Jorte right now. I like the widgets that can display my calendar on the home screen. However, the settings are cryptic at best, and the buttons in the app don't have labels and seem to do different things with each press...
However, it is worth it to have my calendar correctly sync with google without me having to re-select the calendar for each new appointment. I make a LOT of appointments on my phone, and when I realized they weren't syncing, I had to change a LOT of appointments.

Has anyone found a better solution to this bug yet?

Bump for this one. Is this something that would need changed at the OS level? I.e., no quick fix via a small app

Devs, we are calling you!!!!!!!

i'm using gemini calendar. it works great and has some other features.

This is fixed in the new 2.2 update; you can completely disable the "my calendar" app and use the stock google calendar and widget.

An app that will keep track of my work schedule

I would like an app that will let me track my work schedule and clock on and out to keep track of my hours. There are a couple of apps in the market but they are cumbersome and way to complicated for the simple task I am looking for haha.
Can anyone reccommend something?

Yeah I think that I will just continue using my work clock to punch in and out. I will just keep my schedule written down someplace I suppose.

For your schedule use the calendar app it sync with your google account and you can see it online that'd what I used

I use Time Recording. The interface is a little confusing at first, but it works well once you get used to it.
Does it fall into your "cumbersome and way to [sic] complicated" category? If so, what kind of basic features are you looking for? Just something with a "clock in" and "clock out" button that will track time?

Time recording looks like a nice application. Really, the only app that is cumbersome is my work schedule. It'll let you put in preset times but not let you enter your schedule manually. I could use the built in calendar to keep track of my schedule but that is too many steps to take every time I need to add a new time on a new day.

I think I will try to use calendar. It might take a couple extra steps but it is by far the cleanest and simplest method so far. I like the idea of the syncing as well.

Yeah I tried that but as far as I can tell you can only schedule preset times that you put in beforehand. It works, but the way my work schedule is I am always having to go in and add more presets. I think calendar will work nicely.

You can select to enter a time manually as well. Hit "enter schedule" then menu, "manual time entry"

[Q] Titanium Backup and email on Nexus S

I am using TB for my backups and restores as I'm flashing roms quite a bit. The only problem I have is that my standard email (not the gmail app) accounts are not restored. This happens if I go from stock to CM or Axura.
I think i am probably just doing something wrong, but I don't know. Can anybody advise.
I searched before this post but didn't find the answer.
Email is considered a system app. It won't save unless you want to save that, but it can cause FCs.
I personally use K9 Mail and it sticks for the most part. I prefer K9 mail over the stock Email app.

Can't thank you enough zephiK.
I just installed and configured K9 and it is way better than the default email app. Many many thanks.
You the man
Glad I could help Another tip is when you open up K9 go into Settings -> Display -> Theme.
Set the theme to dark and you'll save some battery by using a black background

[Q] Asus Email Widget for GMail?

Is there any way to get the Asus email widget to open GMail instead of the stock Email app?

Menu in the top right hand of the screen (in the email app)
Click account settings
Add Account is in the top right hand corner.
Make it your default. If you have another email account setup, you may want to delete it. The widget will tell you the total unread emails across all accounts setup.

Already done that
I'd like to know if there's a way to make it so that tapping the widget brings you to the GMail app instead though
The stock email app isn't quite as good as GMail
@slient
I have the same question/problem
I think that's impossible because Google is blocking every connection with Gmail app. No app on the market can connect to Gmail! Even ASUS is not allowed to create an app that works hand-in-hand with Gmail... sadly...
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Well, technically, the desired effect can be achieved by checking for unread mail the way it is now but tap action should just open the different app.

Ah my bad, I misread the OP.
Out of curiosity what features do you want the gmail app for? The only real difference I saw was priority inbox/starred mails support. I don't use that often enough myself to worry about it.

GMail handles labels better and has a bigger viewing panel
also the default email app doesn't string conversations together

Landscape gmail with Preview?

I swear I've seen a few videos that showed the gmail app in the SR to show an email preview when in landscape view with the inbox on the left and the selected email on the right. I can't figure out how to get this option if it exists.
Anyone else seen this or get it working or was I seeing a different phone?
Thanks
The stock email app has that. Maybe that's what you saw.
Yeah it was thanks for replying. Weird Googles own gmail lacks advanced things.

[APP][FREE + NO ADS][4.0+ FOR SURE] We Have To Go Back, Kate!

3.1 BETA OUT NOW
This is my first app, so lots of *constructive* feedback would be nice.
It's nothing special (I did it on MIT AppInventor like the noob who knows no java that I am)
Ever leave somewhere and forget how to get back?
Problem = Solved.
Simply press the button and it will remember your "Island Location" -- for you Lost fans --which you can name.
The rest is pretty self explanatory.
Screenshots in attachments
CHANGELOG
// What's new in 3.1
-- Added 2 customizeable saved locations
-- Fixed buttons getting cut off
// What's new in 2.1
-- Settings bugs hopefully fixed -- I'm currently testing it
*Changng to Lost background will apply after app is closed and reopened
// What's new in 2.0
-- Settings -- Change the look of the main screen
MORE SETTINGS TO COME -- just a trial run right now
// Planned changes for next version
-- Whatever I can think of. Any suggestions?
P.S. If you want an older version just pm me I'll get it for you
Has anyone used this app? Really looking for some feedback...
I downloaded your app, and you have a good idea and it is functional, although obviously limited in design and some functionality due to the lack of raw java. I also think it would be nice to have some settings of some sort, if it's possible to add those with the program you used to create it

I'm working on adding settings now. I plan to make the background and fonts changeable because I know I can easily do that. If you have any other settings ideas I can give them a shot.
I'm also looking to make the app able to remember multiple locations.
Thanks for the feedback.
Great idea! You should add a list of remembered places so one can chose where to go back to.

Working on adding multiple locations now. Any preference on how that works? Like pick three to save? Remember last three saved?
Does your app do something that using Google Maps w/ starred locations doesn't do?
If I go somewhere and think I might be so unfamiliar with the area that I might not be able to locate my car, I star the location I've parked at then use that when I leave wherever I went to easily find my spot.
It kind of sounds like your app does this too, but as its only feature?

Probably not. The only difference I imagine is that the app does it just by pushing buttons. It actually uses Google maps for directions. Sorry if that's disappointing for you haha
3.1 is up. This mostly a bump post haha. Would love to get some feedback
