[FIX]es All Locales List for all CIDs + MassiveAPns - v0.4 - no wipe needed - Desire Android Development

Enable ALL Locales on Desire 2.2 using this patch
It can work on any Sense Rom
I haven't tested it on older version than 2.09.405.8 so i do not know if it is working or even causing problems.
KnownProblems:
1. You will loose your bootscreen if the modder is not using the default files (or modded it)
2. Need a wipe in order to get full Listing (follow instructions at the end of post)
Danne_jo, thank you for testing it
v0.4 - Added also APNs update list
If your Rom is missing APNs you can patch this file and enable them.
After patching you should go to: Menu -> Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names -> Menu -> Reset to default ...
wait a little and you are done!!!!
v0.3 - Minor additions
1. Merged into one file (30kbytes - out of 130Kbytes)
2. Added Chinese and Taiwanese (after request)
v0.2 - Major Fixes
1.Fixed the Languages problem not showing the Sub-Locale
2. Resorted languages, now you can easily find your language.
3. Added: France (Switzerland)
v0.1 -Initial release
Instructions to AVOID wipe!
Menu --> Settings -- > Applications > Manage Applications > All
Find: Customization Settings Provider
And: Clear DATA, Force Stop
After that your Language Listing will be full.
Cheers,
Vassilis

Hello. thanx for your work..
i did try this on my rom. but after using this i see for example english serval times. Not english:another_language just plain english is listed 4-5 times.
if thats possible for you to fix it would be cool. also as that in the files you have tabbed some rows wrong

I will track the problems. Even if the locales are en-US and en-UK it shows just english.

First of all it was my First .zip package and my first "public" mod post
So.
I have fixed everything, as i checked on 2 Desires with different roms. On first post i added an download link.

I download the zip file, extra the zip to see the default.xml
I didn't see "Chinese" in the file.
Could u add Chinese for it.
Thanks!!

thanx alot!

Thanks for this.
APN is very useful

Can this be flashed on generic 2.2 ROM?
Also, is Macedonia locale and APNs added (if not, can you add them?) ?

There is no Macedonian Locale. Even with morelocale2 is returning english.

Thanks anyway.

Top Job billias! Added to My rom! and mentioned you in the 1st post!

in billias.xml find this:
Code:
<function name="Block_No_SIM">
<set name="single">

yes

uk

</set>
</function>
Replace whit this:
Code:
<function name="Block_No_SIM">
<set name="single">

no

</set>
</function>
default apn list should hopefully now be working

Thank you for the locales, works flawlessly

I have no Block_No_SIM Function on my code! i will add it!.
Cause i am using the default - unbranded XML for all CIDs

Perhaps I am missing something here, but the patch is totally unnecessary. I played with the xml files and nothing changes. The moment you clear all the data from the Customization Settings Provider and reboot, all the languages appear anyway.
I am looking for a way to control exactly the languages that appear.

[Q] Small MMS on TMOUS issue in ICS ROMs?

Any known fix at this point for the small MMS issue on TMOUS in ICS ROMs?
I think honestly this is the only thing holding me back from running an ICS ROM full-time. I've flashed a few and found that everything else worked to a degree that I could handle - EXCEPT that!
I noticed that there wasn't the issue in the Virtuous Inquisition ROM, but I'm leaning more towards the Sense side of things.
Thanks!
Id like to know the same?
Did you try this (under the heading of "Small MMS"):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1405457
Go to ics fixes thread and use small

MMS Fix!
ok first 2 things need to be done. open the rom zip file and go to system/customize/mns and open the default.xml file with an editing program.
in this you will find the following.
<module name="MessageConfig">
<function name="setting">
<set name="single">

false

false

false

true

false

Normal

100K

200K

300K

300K

true

Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Change the values in red to say 300k,600k,1000k,1000k
Then from there when you flash the rom go to your apn settings and make sure you only have one. delete the mms apn if you have it. the only one you should have is data.
edit the data apn to say the following
Name: T-Mobile Data
APN: epc.tmobile.com

Ok ladies and gents this mms fix that steve007 posted on does work. This is what I did to get it to work.
You will have to start fresh.... install zip and place on sd card first.
1. Data factory reset
2. Install rom, DO NOT REBOOT
3. Install mms fix
4. Reboot ROM go through setup.
5. IMPORTANT...DO NOT RESTORE ANY PREVIOUS DATA
6. You are good to go normal MMS size.
AGAIN IF YOU RESTORE DATA FROM PREVIOUS NANDROID BACKUP THE FIX WILL REVERT YOU TO SMALL MMS. I did pick and choose what I wanted to restore from Titanium with no ill effect...

[Tutorial][Xperia L] Enable/Disable NFC Icon

Hello guys !
I find out that many user facing a problem of NFC Icon not showing up in few firmware's like CE or the American one which the rom made by @serajr is made of.
Here is my small tutorial on how to made NFC Icon show up or disable it
What you will need:
Rooted phone
Sony Xperia L C2105/C2104
Buildprop Editor App
MOTOCHOPPER option to root on 2.17 firmware
Instructions:
1a: Turning on NFC ICON
- Download an app called Buildprop Editor
- Open the app and search for: "ro.nfc.icon.enable" NOTE: If you cannot find it go to the "1b"
- Change the value from "false" to "true"
- Save it and press "YES" on the option to reboot
- Wait till your phone boot's up and here you go ! Now you have a NFC Icon when a NFC is turn on.
1b: Turning on NFC ICON (When you don't have the line in Buildprop)
- Download an app called Buildprop Editor
- Open the app, click on the PLUS SIGN and at the Property Name type: "ro.nfc.icon.enable"
- At the Property Value write "true".
- Save it and press "YES" on the option to reboot
- Wait till your phone boot's up and here you go ! Now you have a NFC Icon when a NFC is turn on.
2: Turning off NFC ICON
- Download an app called Buildprop Editor
- Open the app and search for: "ro.nfc.icon.enable"
- Change the value from "true" to "false"
- Save it and press "YES" on the option to reboot
- Wait till your phone boot's up and here you go ! Now your NFC Icon is gone.
It's easy as it could be. I've tested it on my C2105. I think you don't need a screenshot's for this.
This line wasn't present in build.prop so I added it manually and it works now. Just do one thing in your instructions. TRUE should be in small letters and not capital. Make this change.
Thanx man
really appreciate it

No problem, thanks very much for it. It will help some people.
it's true that the line is not exist so I added manually and voila NFC ICON is back
thx for sharing
I added two steps of turning on NFC Icon. One is for the people that have a line in Buildprop and another one is for those who doesn't have a line and need to added.

Updating Language to Russian

I just got my 6039S (4.7 version) from Amazon for my wife today, (my 5.5 is currently on backorder).
I noticed that when starting for first time, I am only allowed to select about 5 or 6 different languages. Haven't gone past initial setup screen as I will wait to get back to Moscow to do it for wife.
I know I can get a third party keyboard that contains this, but looking for full system conversion.
Is there a way to get full system Russian language via a different region ROM? Or is there a method such as modifying the default.xml to add it?
The Alcatel update program doesn't let you choose which ROM to install as far as I can tell.

You need a full ROM (system image) with support for Russian language (but future OTA updates cannot be installed), or a complete dump of the emmc from a device purchased from Russia ... probably the update program will downloads the russian updates afterwards (if you reflash the whole memory).

4pda doesn't have any firmwares either that I could find. Guess wife will just have to live with 75% russian phone until I get back to moscow,
Let me ask you this, and @famewolf feel free to chime in.
Do you think the mobile upgrade app keys off the device model in the build.prop? Like changing it to a 6039k might work? I believe thats a 16mb single sim from europe

Probably no. Considering the fact that the request to their servers in order to check for updates contains the serial number, IMEI, the version of the kernel and of the firmware. I think that all these things matter.
Edit: OK, the serial number is not included in the request ... this is my previous check for updates

Same answer as @petrov.0 but different reasons. The mobile Q software is designed to fix a totally bricked phone...it's not looking at anything on system...while connected in download mode it can poll the hardware directly to identify what the device is and then pull the appropriate images to flash directly to the partitions.
I'll add further I'm unaware of anyone on the forum indicating their model in either 6039 or 6049 having russian language as an option.
and @famewolf
I was afraid of that. I've shot a mail to alcatel, asking for support and full images for us XDA users. Worth a shot as I'd love to see them support development..
Generally there are usually numerous language support in most roms. So there has to be a way to activate it. I've tried looking for "default.xml" which is another place, but no such luck.
Almost done reflashing via upgrade app

Will do. Just got my 6045i this afternoon also. But english is ok on that one. Only hoping both of these hook up on the russian network. Should though, as the frequencies seem compatible.
On the 6039s, I noticed after running the pc upgrade app, the System/Csc/language.xml is no longer there. Must have been only on the original OS.
I can compile on Linux back in Moscow, but won't be home for another month. I'm gonna guess fremework.res and systemUI may be the culprit

Well, Alcatel support confirmed that each build is separate for region. So looks like some decompiling is going to be in order soon.
Found frameworkres but seems the newer OS doesn't have systemui.apk ?

Well, it seems 5.0.2 is a different ball game than I've done in the past. A lot of system files I'm used to are just not there.
Now, if you dial *#0007# it will switch most of the UI to Russian, with the exception of Settings and a few other places and apps. (Thanks 4PDa Decker). It shows up in language and keyboard settings, but vanishes when you go back to English, so it appears language support is indeed compiled to a certain extent.
I would guess *#0008# or some other value might change the language to something else. I've played with a couple of apps from the play store, but they do the exact thing. So the dialer option is the better option.
Will still mess around and probably decompile some apks. Might get lucky.

Here's what it does,
Dial *#0007# and the system changes to Russian (about 75% give or take some apps). When you go to Settings/Language and Input, you see Russian as the set language. If you select English for example, it changes back to English and you have to dial *#0007# to change to Russian again. It never really perma-shows in the list along with the usual 5 or 6 languages. Kinda strange.
But it looks like most if the important things change languages, dialer, etc. I'm without a Sim here until I get back to Moscow next month, so I can't really check how the messaging works, and with a little over a month left, I'm not going to sign up for a service from ATT or TMobile.
EDIT:Whatever file controls language, it is located in System/Vendor/Overlay according to 4Pda. They are just copying the overlay folder from a 6039y I believe, into the US bought phones. I suppose they will have to partition the memory? Seeing as the single sim S varient has 16gb, whereas the Y varient has only 8gb. I wouldn't know why they should have to as they are not messing with partitions.
I'm guessing about 5 related. Settings, system, systemUI. They're all in there.

so for russian language change there is a post on 4pda.
its simple. the language packs are stored in /system/vendor/overlay/ there are system apks which contains only settings and alnguage xml files. So to add Russian language is about to replace the system/vendor/overlay folder of your 6039x with same model with russian language. I did this on my 6045Y model. I have i806 (TCL variant of 6045) firmwar eand just replaced the folders and in settings now i have the languages that i had on my stock 6045Y firmware.
here is the link to the 4pda. That way the Alcatel differences the language regions, they dont have to recompile all system apk´s just the small overlay apks.
if you want to make a backup this will help:
Code:
adb pull /system/vendor/overlay c:\overlay
you find the language apk's in c:\overlay
here is my backup

Coming from the H810, MMS messages would send and receive even with data being switched off. Data would turn on automatically, then turn back off after sending. I now have the H811, which basically requires you to turn off wifi and have data enabled to send and receive a MMS message. I have a AT&T SIM card, so i can't take advantage of wifi calling. I looked into the issue, and found that the featureset.xml file has a role in that. I tried rolling back my H811 and rooting it to access the featureset, but that ended in a permabrick. -_- Does anyone with a rooted h810 be able to get that file and either screenshot it or copy/paste it? It's located in root/system/etc.
Regards.
No one has root access to a h810...?
Correct. Due to the locked bootloader and Marshmallow kernel level protections we can't root the device. There was a trick on the last Android version where we could go in through download/diagnostics mode and insert the root that way but it got patched when they released Marshmallow.

I figured someone would have the H810 on LP with root access. I made the terrible mistake of trying to roll it back with the latest update that came out.

[HOW-TO] Remove the superuser indicator in CM13/CM14.x/LOS 15.x

Hello,
I noticed that many of you don't like the CyanogenMod superuser indicator ('#') in the status bar and that some of you even flash SuperSU or Xposed, just to get rid of it. Well, that's not necessary, because there is a much easier way. So here is the "right way" to remove the # in CM13/14.x/Lineage 15.x (probably not working in CM12.x):
Edit: @Dyt199412syam found an easier way to do this, please take a look: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73916650&postcount=35
==== Original post ====
1. Go to Settings > status bar > icons
2. Uncheck and re-check one of the items (to make sure the required settings entry is created)
3. Backup the file /data/system/users/0/settings_secure.xml
4. Open /data/system/users/0/settings_secure.xml with a text editor (as root)
5. Search for "icon_blacklist"
6. you will find something like this:
Code:
<settings id="269" name="icon_blacklist" value="" package="com.android.systemui" />
(ID may vary)
7. Add "su" between the quotation marks after value, so it looks like this:
Code:
<settings id="269" name="icon_blacklist" value="su" package="com.android.systemui" />
If value is not empty, just append ",su" (with a seperating comma):
Code:
<settings id="269" name="icon_blacklist" value="other,icons,su" package="com.android.systemui" />
8. Double check the XML syntax (a mistake here might cause a bootloop)
9. Save and reboot
For ROM builders:
If you want to implement an option to hide superuser icon in your ROM, please do not use a hacky, unclean way to do so. The right way is the following:
Open frameworks/base/packages/SystemUI/res/xml/tuner_prefs.xml.
- Search for
Code:
<com.android.systemui.tuner.StatusBarSwitch
android:key="alarm_clock"
android:title="@string/status_bar_alarm" />
and below insert
Code:
<com.android.systemui.tuner.StatusBarSwitch
android:key="su"
android:title="@string/status_bar_su" />
- Add
Code:
<string name="status_bar_su">Superuser</string>
to strings.xml
Or simply apply this patch to frameworks/base.
Working fine! Thanks!

Have you tried to uncheck / check one of the items in Settings/Status Bar/Icons? icon_blacklist should be created after this.

Double check your XML syntax just means that you shall pay attention that the number of opening and closing brackets (<>) matches and that you don't forget a quotation mark or sth like that.

Thanks to OP this worked on Lineage OS 14.1 on Mi 5
Hello everybody,
Probably, or also surely, caused by the Nova Launcher, always the root # symbol is displayed in the status bar.
This help here would work for me on the S5 and OP3. The Moto G4 does not work that way. After I changed the concerned and then restart the smartphone, suddenly all settings are set to the factory setting .... I copy the previously saved original file over it again, it remains nevertheless there by ... everything on factory setting...
Does anyone know another way that symbol is going to hide?
This Way here does not seem to work with the G4.
Or someone know, maybe what is the Problem?
Thanks in advance

Works fine with Nova Launcher. It is probably the editor or explorer you are using. Are you sure that it has enough permissions to overwrite the file?
Try another editor or root explorer.
tested on seraph unofficial lineage OS on my OP2.
working like a charm, thanks a lot to @MaxMustermann2.0
used MiXplorer to find and edit settings_secure.xml file, and edited it via inbuilt text editor.
