[Q] Streaming Question - General Questions and Answers

Im trying to setup a streaming server to use on my house intranet and on the internet with my HD2. I have setup Tversity 1.6 to give it a test and I have managed to get it to work on my laptop while on a wifi internet connection.I then tried to make it work on my HTC HD2 but no matter what I do I get the error 0x8000FFF on my media player. Any ideas? I read a few guys trying tcmp but it doesn't work on my HD2 either (incompatibility issues)

TCPMP Player problem

Hi All VOx fans and experts pls guide me. I have HTC s710 and have installed TCPMP player to listen to online radio stations. When i connect my mobile to laptop using my broandband connection i can use the TCPMP player to listen to shoutcast stations but TCPMP is not using GPRS to connect. Please help
I have same issue. I am using Xda Orbit with Artemis Touch Vanilla 4.02 ROM. With USB to my PC, all streaming media works fine but I unplug the usb, I get error message: "MMS protocol not supported!". Can anyone help?
I think TCPMP does not establish an internet connection itself. Start the internet explorer, browse any site, leave the internet explorer. Start TCPMP and try again to connect via GPRS. Be aware of any costs via GPRS. And remember: For a 128KBit/s stream you need 16kB/s permanently. You will need full GPRS antenna reception. If you are connected to EDGE the stream should work just fine.
It is normal that you have to use PIE first to establish the connection. Even if you use Opera Mobile (or Mini) that is the case. I think you also have to leave it open!

Please Don't M - Fuze will stream video via 802.11, synched to PC but not 3G

Second thread - you moved my first one. I have extensively searched the XDA forums and Wiki, not to mention many other forums and numerous Google searches. Based on what I have learned I have hard reset my Fuze leaving off the ATT bloatware, downloaded about 25 apps, including several specifically recommended to work around my problem. I've learned a lot in a short time, and everything is working great except IP camera access. I've tried several other streaming video suggestions without success. I've tried every single suggestion I've found on XDA-Developers and am now back asking a question for which I cannot find an answer, and I believe I have diligently done all the "Noob" stuff - so now I need some help!
I can access streaming video from an Axis 207W IP camera on my Fuze using the HTC Streaming media player via an 802.11 connection and when cabled to my PC but not via 3G. The address is http://(camera IP address)/mjpg/video.mjpg. Works like a champ via wireless or when cabled but won't work over 3G. The only way I can get it over 3G is by using the Skyfire browser, which uses a remote server. Anybody have any ideas about why this is the case? Why I can't get directly to the camera IP address in 3G mode? Is there a setting change I can make on my Fuze?

You might check your proxy settings, as they could be interfering, or perhaps it is a restriction related to AT&T.
I think it has something to do with a block by ATT. I had a similar issue with my server at home. I couldnt control my PC via my phone anymore because it wouldnt connect to my IP. After about a week, it worked again. Now it isnt working once again. I am able to connect to my home PC through my laptop.
at first i suspected that ATT DNS servers or whatever were slow since my server uses dynamic IP, but even trying to connect directly doesnt work.
i doubt its dns since hes using IP address for the cam
it could be at&t's proxy not getting through to your port
i would change it to port 80 on the cam's settings since that is the port used for http web browsing!

Remote Desktop via direct Wifi

Is there a program or way i can use remote desktop without having a router connect to my laptop. So using the built in wifi on the laptop to connect to my HD2.
Or even bluetooth..
Just an idea as I can't have a router here at uni.
are you trying to basically surf the web from your laptop using your HD2?
you need something like internet sharing which is available on the Device itself (its a standard Windows thing). you need to set it up though, and of course make sure your device has internet access (GPRS/whatever connection methods).
Nah not using the internet, but to view and control my pc from my phone over wifi.
gotcha. why would you wanna do that?
but anyway...dont think it is possible like that as the wireless on the laptop will not act as a DHCP (like a router does) to give an IP to clients who are connecting to it.
It would be cool though to be able to use it as a remote control to perhaps skip or play music etc. But connecting through wifi would be impossible i think.
I recall with my old old old sony ericsson phone I could connect to my computer using a bluetooth dongle and control music and even the mouse cursor...such an awesome feature. A bluetooth program for the HD2 would be good providing you have a bluetooth dongle.
funny you should mention an app like that as I developed an app a few years ago which does just that called WMP Remote.
basically, you connect it via bluetooth or wireless (as long as you get an activesync connection going, or even wireless with a router) and then get a list of files from a certain directly, play/pause/vol up/down from the Mobile application and play files in full screen and so on....
haven't updated it in a LONG time but was a big hit back then.
also developed another app called DAR~ling, which is a Digital Audio Recorder

Firehawk
It looks an awesome App, but does not work with WM6.5 & Windows 7 (not sure which one cause the issue).
IMHO worth some re-development and putting on Windows Market Place $$$ I'd buy.
Ben
aww, thats encouraging mate! Thanks!
not sure why it doesnt run on your devices? I ran it on my Samsung omnia which runs WM 6.1 - works fine.
I've also got a WM5 device...works fine on that. the issues are just the screen display!
I have been meaning to "start" the project again but just had no time at all. been so busy.
HELLO
T2 REMOTE TOUCH
Very nice program. I use it to do anything to my computer because I'm too lazy to get down of the bed. I use it when it was beta and the only bad thing was that he only had color mode for free
Anyway if you can manage to create a wireless network connection (AD-HOC) with designeted IP's it's going to work. I don't know about the port dough.
Anyway, I have windows XP, and I don't know very much about win7's configuration.
GOOD LUCK

[Q] Can someone please do a step by step with instructions for UPnPlay and TVersity

I am having trouble using my Transformer with my tethered connection using TVersity and UPnPlay (w/ moboplayer).
I have no clue what settings need to be changed where and how I can see files or setup UPnPlay on the Transformer to recognize different servers and what not. Does anyone know of a walkthrough (with pictures possibly) on what needs to be done.
I have Windows 7, TVersity, XBMC, UPnPlay, Moboplayer all downloaded. Connecting via home network wifi works great. I just wanna try to connect via other wifi outside of home and I can't seem to figure it out. I am also using a dlink DIR-655 Router if that makes a difference.
Thanks for the help!
Anything outside of your home network will need to have ports forwarded if you're behind a firewall.

[Q] PlayOn

i have the 14day trial.. you can only watch on android while comp is on and running, and you have to use same wifi? seriously? wtf is the point of watching on TB if im in the house?? i have no intention of keeping it with plans of netflix coming, but am i missing something here?
It works on 3G/4G as well. Once you establish the link to your PC on your home wifi, then you should find that it continues to work when you leave the house and are on 3G/4G. Of course your computer needs to be on at home.
Yes you are... You only have to use wifi the first time you connect. After that 4g works fine.
I use the PC version to stream content to my TV via DVD player and I use the mobile version on my tablet around the house. I have installed on my TB but have yet to use it since I almost always have my Acer Iconia with me.
PlayOn is a great company and they make a solid, reliable app, so I wouldn't knock them even if it wasn't something I needed.
