White Rapper Soundboard (AppInventor Test) - Android Apps and Games

So, I signed up for AppInventor on the day it was announced and I finally got the invite 4 days ago (I didn't even know! Haha) Anyway, I decided to mess around. This app was thrown together in 10 minutes. I don't have any coding experience. I just recorded a bunch of high pitched sounds trying to say "totally gangsta" things. The fact that I could even throw THIS together gives me hope that creative people everywhere will create real apps.
If you could just download the APK and try it out, you can see a really basic app that demonstrates the functionality of AppInventor. Oh, and once again- that isn't my normal voice. LoL.

P.S. Sorry it's like 2 megs. I don't know how to make it smaller. Also, since I'm too new to post a link I kind of went around it. I figured since I'm not spamming and trying to help the community, it would be ok. If it's not okay, feel free to remove my post. I'm sorry.

hhmmm I signed up for the app as well. DO you have a link to the app?

the link I used in the post above is a link to my google docs account. all you have to do is hiot "download". put the apk on your sd card and then use astro or something to install the apk.
but, if you'd like a link to use on your phone. try this-

App for downloading apks? Alternative market?

Just wondering if anyone has heard of such a thing. With all of the issues with protected apps not showing in the market with some roms, it would be neat if there was an app like the Music downloaders, that let you search and download apks.
Some apps poof from market and it would be nice to have a quick way to find them.
Does SlideME work? I used that back in the vogue android days, but I haven't used it since.. That was just a different market app basically
See if any of these work: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=536317
I honestly don't know. My protected apps all work. And honestly the only times they haven't is because we were using developers roms. It's all fixed now though, and our official obviously won't have that problem.
Search the market for "APKtor." It's an app that'll let you add repositories filled with android apps. It's essentially Cydia for Android. As far as where to get your repositores, you'll need to figure that much out.
there a few others that i will not post here lol
Appbrain ...
Search google for an app called "black market"..
Then you will have to search for the right repositories.. If you download GMOB chat and go to the rooted users chat someone there will help you out..
*also in GMOB chat there is a room where there is nothing but posted apps, and a request room..

Don't want to steer the thread too far off topic, but is this true for all roms, or just certain ones. I haven't been able to spend much time on the forum the past few days, but if there's a complete fix for protected apps, I'll definitely set aside some time to seek it out...
i honestly havent dl'd anything from the market since my g1, cept to go grab linda and get acess to my sd right away...
anything the market can do, google can do better *singalong voice*
i understand the market is google, but i mean the search engine

fresh rom 2.0d.
Can anyone find Digital Clock Widget v1.8 in the marketplace? Says it's copy protected, but it's a free app. I have v1.7.6 and can't find it to update. Found a website with a zip of v1.8, but it's not signed. I signed it, but it won't install because it says it's missing classes.dex.
Also, flipz, is the market fix available as a standalone update? Currently running DCv2.05
Oh ****! APKtor is god!

Alternate method to installing Market content

In case there's somebody around here wondering, I'm starting a thread to show you how to download FREE apps if you don't have market access. Any FREE app you can find online in .apk form is yours. Please note you DO NOT need ROOT ACCESS to follow these steps, but I recommend it anyways, so use that nifty search bar and try it out.
Note: This is a method only for installing FREE APPS that are already free. Some people complain of not having the market app, others have market crash issues. This method is only to be used as an alternate to the Market if you do not have market access.
What you'll need:
Method of data transfer between phone and computer (USB Cord, MicroSD adapter, etc)
ASTRO File Manager- Found in the Android Market for free.
Level of Difficulty: 2/10
Procedure:
Step 1: Download ASTRO File Manager
This is self-explanatory. Go into your market and search for: ASTRO
Look for the result that reads: ASTRO File Manager
Download the app, it's free.
Step 2: Connect phone/SD to computer
Either plug in your phone and select mount, or plug your MicroSD into an adapter. Once your computer recognizes the SD card, move to step 3.
Step 3: Create free apps folder
Create a new file folder on your SD card in the top directory (meaning on the SD card and not in any other file folder). Name it Free Apps or similar.
Step 4: Download your .apk files
Search the internet for your desired applications. XDA forums and iPmart are great places to start. Once you find your application, download it and drag it to your Free Apps folder on your SD card.
Step 5: Unmount phone
This doesn't need explaining.
Step 6: Run ASTRO
Once your phone is unmounted and ready, run ASTRO File Manager. Once the application loads, it will list all the folders on your SD card. Navigate to your Free Apps folder, and select it. Once open, find your application you wish to install. It may list it twice, one with the logo and the other with a little settings logo, click the one that has the actual application logo.
Step 7: Installation
A menu will popup with two choices: Explore or App Manager. Select App Manager. It will come up with a new window, and beneath the application logo will be a button that says install. It will bring up the familiar installing are you sure screen, click yes and install it. Once it finishes, click done. Now you can install more or run your application.
That's it, enjoy your apps.
Hmm... I don't see any piracy. There are a lot of "Free" apps online. Android is Open Source. Now if he was talking about downloading paid apps for free... then we have a problem.
This is just a thread showing how to install free apps... which there are billion of online.

If you actually went to the website listed.. Its a website that offers FREE PAID android apps.. Is that not piracy?
EDIT : Besides... Why would you use this method of installing free apps? The market offers free apps..

Seriously dude you need to stop...one of the sites he mentioned has warez in it. For instance here are a few PAID apps...
Solo v1.21
Advanced Task Killer PRO v1.7.6
SetCPU for Root Users v1.5.3a
Should I go on or should I let you continue making yourself look foolish??

We dont support wares here kid. So please GTFO these forums with your ****ING ****! people work hard to make these apps so people like us can enjoy them. And they spent hours on making the apps and your here to rip them off really?
Now If you would kindly like to support the free apps for being free and the paid apps for being PAID!!!
Then you shall do this for the "goodies" aka Free apps.

You need to watch your language. This is your first and last warning.
As far as "piracy" is involved... I don't see any here. Just because the guy says there's a way for you to go throw yourself off a cliff, doesn't mean you're gonna go do it, right ?
He's offering a solution on how to install freely available .apk's. How you get them and If YOU choose to go download them, that's your problem.
Now let's play nice...
VinceOB, MyDroidHax, and Juggsy, you all really need to calm down. I may not have worded it correctly, but I fixed it. The reason I posted this was because a ROM I installed for whatever reason didn't have the market app, so I had no market access. There are a wide array of free apps on both sites, yes there are a few paid on iPmart, but iPmart is still one of the best overall sources for free apps as well. Seriously, i didn't plan on awaking to controversy.

I apologize, and thanks for your contribution.

I didn't see him drop the f bomb on u. He might have meant it that way but that would be putting words in his mouth.
Sometimes I wonder what the qualifications are to become a mod are. So far I believe the first three qualifications are ego, power hungry, and favoritizm.
Care to elaborate on the extensive and rigorous interviews and testing that took place to acquired ur higher status.
BTW win Mobil is only around cause its backed by Microsoft. Doesn't mean it's a great OS. Just that the backers have deep pockets and wont let it die.
ok, I don't like or condone the way this thread has gone. Instead of discussing the topic of free apps, its all about calling people names and slagging each other off.
@cbarlan - The f word was never mentioned by either MyDroidHax or
NRGZ28. One used "-Blam-" the other "***". It was actually you which first referred to the f-word.
But none of this matters. What matters is your respect for fellow xda users as per rule #2 below.....which by they way does mention no cursing which MyDroidHax blatantly flaunted.
2. Be polite and respect your fellow xda-dev user.
There is no need for cursing, flaming, racism or personal attacks. There are a lot of different nationalities on this forum all with different cultures, this means that no matter what you're like, you'll have to adjust to people that are most definitely not like you. For this reason we'd like to ask you to refrain from discussions about religion or politics, we do not wish to limit your right to free speech, but we have noticed these topics tend to get heated and might be best discussed in a different environment. It will gain you a lot of respect if you help to keep the peace. It's disrespectful and therefore not permitted to create Alias Member names in an attempt to deceive others.

Please remind nrgz28 who is a moderator of the rule u posted. I believe he was very rude in emplementing his harsh warnings instead of being polite and respectful. U can be stern and respectful at same time. And for future reference when someone uses stars inplace of a word it is usually vulgar. Also no need to threaten with this is ur first and last warning. Remember rule u referenced and be polite as well. I'd be willing to write up a wiki on how to use ur manners and be respectful as I've had to reach my six year old. Kinda the same thing
Thank you to the mods for the cleanup work. MyDroidHax initially used F***ING, and then edited it. I read the post almost immediately.
Anyways, I updated the post, and I wrote it at 1AM here today, so I was tired. Sorry for misconceptions guys. Like I said, I had market issues, so I found this way to help me and felt I'd share.
Yes you can get paid apps, but it doesn't mean you should or are going to. This is just a workaround to a normal situation, use it how you will.
Also, you guys really shouldn't rip on the mods. The rules clearly stated that you can't do what MyDroidHax did, and so he was told he can't. So? That's how it works, he won't do it again if he doesn't want to get banned.
On a related note, this can also be used to install apps that are not in the market but are available online, such as betas hosted online, custom apps, etc. If you're rooted, you should have "install non-market apps" checked, but if it's not it will take you to the screen where you check it during this process.
I am 98% sure this doesn't require root access. The file manager I know doesn't, and on the Hero (since we have not been neutered like ATT phones) we can install apps from outside sources. So that option is freely available.
What here requries root access?
Not giving you heck, just trying to make the post more informational.

NEW: Direct streaming via Megaupload .avi files

Hi guys and girls,
after looking quite hard at the forums, iv found a few topics that are "close but no cigar", so im starting a new thread to try and get the ball rolling and hopefully soon, make an app that will be available on all android devices.
the topic says it all.
I started a website 4 years ago that enables direct streaming of .avi files to your pc and now im trying make the process on your phone as seamless as it is on your pc!
at the moment, the current way of doing this is
1) get the file link from megaupload.com
2) go to your .avi media player
3) input the link
4) watch.
so basicly im trying to get it so an app will skip steps 2 and 3.
because the way you get the link from the site i run at them moment is allready a 4 step process, cutting it from a 4 to 6 step one on the mobile phone side would be a brilliant step in the right direction!
a couple of threads allready on xda/apps on the market that are along the right lines are:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11621885 - But the app has been removed from the market and the dev's have stopped working on it.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.stonyx.megastream - this app has recieved many negative comments and after trying it, it does what im trying to do but in a very long winded and drawn out way.
(edit) the irony is, the app thats been made now which is fantastic btw, has been made by the same guy!(/edit)
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.stonyx.icestream this is the app btw
Not trying to advertise but if you search Icefilms on xda theres a lot of people who use the site and want to use it on their phones, so im here now trying to do it and hopefully get some help because honestly im a total n00b to the app dev side of mobile phones!
there is allready a greasemoney/userscript app for android, but the Greasmoneky script the site uses encorperates DivX web player, which is not available for android. So you can install the userscript but theres no bridg between the link and the video player!
so, there in lies the problem and my mission!
any ideas or anyone willing to give me some of their time to get this project rolling?
thanks in advance,
Morgan
icefilms.info admin
anyone home?
guess i'll go to bed and come back tomorrow and see!
good night all
and thanks again in advance!
As a daily icefilms user, and soon to be a android tablet owner (TF201). I hearby *BUMP* this thread!
well, like i said, we have near on 3 and a half million hits a day, but dont have our own app.... that kinda sucks tbf.
hopefully we can get some interest!
still nothing?
I read somewhere that there is a XBMC for android in development, but who knows how long it'll take
well, to be honest, thats a fantastic idea!
if you find any more info on it, please let me know!
1 use the browser "maxthon for tablet"
www . maxthon . com
2 apk megaplayer
megaplayer takes on the market with three free plug-in.
With you going on your site by activating the flash
and at the beginning of caching you can download started
you leave your site and wait 40 s + 10 s and you can start watching.
avi in with the reader of your choice
Just got informed there's an icefilms app on the market, great success. I've emailed the dev
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA App
Amazing!
ok so i just looked on the marked (search icefilms) and found one called Ice Stream.
looks like it will do the job!

Order & Chaos... Finally!!

Hey guys
Ok, so I got my hands on a modded version of O&C 1.1.3, thanks to MirageBlader! From the International HOX forums. It works for them but when I installed it, it was working fine, let me download the game and log in. BUT, when it was time to renew my subscription, it gave me an error not letting me make in-app purchases.
I looked online and saw other ppl with the problem and they said it was cause the person who signed the apk used a versionCode 3 for in-app billing instead of a versionCode 4 and it needs to be changed.
Does any1 know how to do that??
Also for the record, I bought the game when it first came out, so I'm not trying to play for free it just sucks there's no support our phones.
UPDATE:
Ok so I logged in from another phone that was compatible with the game and payed for my subscription thru there and now I'm playing. No lag, colors look awesome. So happy!
Let me know if any1 wants the app. I'll email it to u.
Check this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1606942&page=2
Hate to bump this, but i guess it's mildly related....anyone having issues getting the game to run on CM10?
Looking at the logcats it looks like the app is failing to find some lib file.....
Killing me that I can only play on my tablet now

Android version of Appshopper etc?

Hi guys,
Does anyone know of an Android version of the type of App that allows you to make a list of apps that you are planning to buy, then notifies you of any price changes etc? There seems to be loads of options for this on iOS but I have not seen any on Android. The only one I ever found did not show 99% of the Market and seemed to be American.
I would love to be able to log a list of games I am interested in so that I don't forget to buy them when I have money available for games! Notifications of price changes aren't too important but would be nice - the main thing is not forgetting apps I am interested in.
I've got everything crossed one of you knows of such an app
Thanks!
First, this should be in the Q/A section, in my opinion.
Second, the only thing I've found REMOTELY similar to appshopper on Android is the website www.appbrain.com. I'm not sure if they have an app though.
EDIT: Actually they do have an app, this should be it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...vbS5hcHBzcG90LnN3aXNzY29kZW1vbmtleXMuYXBwcyJd
Bear in mind that Android market is not as neatly organized as Apple's AppStore so there is a huge amount of crap that pops out when you search for a concrete title.
I know iOS has that too, but at least Apple cuts SOME of that crap so you are not bothered with wallpapers and such stupid junk. Anyway, I'm not bashing at Android, I think as an Xperia Play user I can say I'm quite happy with what's on offer.
I just wish more iOS developers would consider it worthwhile to port their games.
Sorry for the rant
'Thanked' for your quick reply! That's brilliant, I'll download Appbrain and check it out.
Sorry for posting in the wrong section - this is the only one I use. Mods feel free to move this if need be.
Seems like a good app but unfortunately no 'favourites' or similar list to remember what you want to install. Any other ideas guys?
I've just discovered 'Best Apps Market' that lets you build a wish list of apps you are interested in. Looks good so far, worth picking up if you have been after what the OP describes. Please Thank me if you grab this!
I'm also looking for this. App Brain looked okay, but there's not way I'm creating an account with my Gmail or FB credentials.

You could try AppZapp beta (search for it on Google Play, sorry I can't add links yet).
It's one of the better ones available for iOS devices but it looks like they're making it for Android now too!
