Aptoide? anyone? - Captivate General

Has anyone tried the aptoide on the captivate? just wondering if you can install these apps on ATT even if you root?

its just a gui front end for aptitude (apt-get)...
Its what Cydia is on the iPhone.

ya but can you install these apps on the captivate even with ATT?

Why not try it...?
You'll find out damned fast.

I have it on my phone, works fine.

Might not be supported yet is my guess...
Nope not working here either. Shouldn't be too much longer before they fix it.
a lot of these apps don't work properly on 2.3
It does work, what doesnt work is the Gba emulator
Contacted the developer and he said he should be able to fix when he gets his nexus s.

Any update on that? Does it now work for the Nexus S?
Snesoid has worked on mine since I bought it in January. I did pay for the app if it matters. I'm running on stock unrooted 2.3.3.
I played Super Mario RPG start to finish with no issues or lag at all. I can confirm gensoid works also.
Xda app won't let me upload a screenshot. Wrong format.

I have it and play everyday no problem. never crashed on me.
stock unrooted
Hi,
new to android world. I've bought a nexus s yesterday and downloaded snesoid from market.
Dumb question: where do you put the roms? as nexus s doesn't have sd card is not clear to me how i should setup application to work properly.
It is unrooted and i want to keep it as it is for the moment (want to learn more before to do it).
Any help?
thanks in advance.
I think i figure out ... it has a mnt point within sdcard as there is one...

G2x freeze when instaling apps

Is anyone else having their G2x freeze up and get laggy when installing apps? Mine will make to where I can't do anything while an app installs, this does not happen on my Xoom.

This is a limitation/issue with Froyo. When you put Gingerbread on here it won't do that anymore. Froyo does this on all phones. It's annoying. But I can guarantee you it'll be fixed on Gingerbread. Trust me

Want the new Android Market?

http://www.androidcentral.com/grab-new-android-market-app-while-its-hot
You might have heard that Google was rolling out a new Android Market, complete with book and movie rentals. You also might have heard it would coming in the next few weeks. Well thanks to an anonymous source (possibly with a time machine) you can grab it today.
Hit the download link, and install it from your SD card like any other app. Fair warning -- we don't know if there will be any complications from doing this, but we haven't seen any so far. Use your best judgement. Discuss it in the forums!

Seems a little cluttered but i like it mostly. I'd recomend using something to backup your old market app in case this one doesnt work for anything, in the comments on that post some people said they were having problems uninstalling/updating apps.

Yeah, I just uninstalled and installed an app no problem too. But all of my apps are up to date so I don't know about updating.
Do y'all have the video/movie tab?

Why bother with any software or plugging your phone in to install an APK? It all seems a bit unnecessary. I just chrome-to-phoned the dropbox URL and bam app installed.

If your running tpgb ninja your rooted, so you don't need the sideload machine, just go to settings>applications>and check unknown sources. Then put this apk on your sd card and use file manager (an app installed in ninja) to select it and install.
Oh, and i am running ninja 7061. but i think i might just go back to stock CM
FOr people who want old market follow these steps:
(Originally Posted By:Chris Chavez of Phandroid)
Go into your phone’s Settings
Select “Manage Applications”
Select the “All” tab at the top
Scroll down to Market app and select it
Select “Uninstall Updates”
Now have your old Market back!
----------------------------------------------------
If that fails, install gapps via rom manager>download ROM>gapps

Cool. Going to try this sometime. I hadn't heard of this method for installing .apk's.

It's not a "method" really, it's just.. installing the app, the same way you would any APK. Doesn't matter how you get the url to the APK to your phone (email, chrome to phone, typing it in by hand).

Well I call it a method so nah! . I just hadn't thought of using it that way.

hulu plus hack?

does anyone know a work around for getting the hulu plus app to work on our phones? I have tried several methods that I found on here for other phones, but none of them worked.
I know this is an ancient thread, but for anyone who is rooted do the following to get hulu plus working: install adfree from the market, allow super user for adfree, click revert in the adfree app, and restart the device. This works!

[Q] Think I have some kind of malware/virus, how do I remove it?

I never had this before today.
Received a notification, it's a red star to the top. Says "Claim Your iPad2 ! - You may have WON an iPad2. Tap here!"
Anyone else ever have this? It popped up twice today, how do I stop this?
I would reflash it immediately.
Its moat likely a push messaged from an app you recently installed.

Yes you need to be more careful what you are installing.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App
Don't really know what it could be, installed a couple updates today from my Go applications, that's really it recently I can think of.
I don't keep any apps around that I don't use, like to keep it clean looking. And I'm not one to be on the Market downloading **** when I'm bored.
I have Lookout install too, guess it didn't catch it. :/
It's a push ad from an app.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
Definitely a push ad from some app you have installed. Download airpush detector from the market and use it to identify the offending app. Uninstall said app. Profit.
/edit
Had this problem before with some app I downloaded for my kid. Annoying. :/

Downloaded that and didn't find anything. Must have been something I uninstalled, one of the Go updates. I thought everything was safe from them. :/
You might want to try Air Push Detector. It is free on the market. It will let you know which program you run which puts an ad in your notifications.
its a push notification/ad from application, much like glu games have their game notifications even if the games are not used.
reflash! i'd suggest hypersensation
Me too
Same thing happend to me, Im going to have to download that app. I wonder what app it could have been. I don't randomly download apps weird.
