Ghost Text Message - General Questions and Answers

I have a ghost text which was a blank message sent by one of my friend's
kids. I cannot see the message, but know it's there as the '1 new message'
notification shows under HTC Sense & Pocket Shield; any ideas how can I
get rid of it?
Thanks,
Steve.
Diamond 2,
Sense 2.5,
WinMo 6.5.
(done a search on 'ghost text' & 'blank text' & 'blank message.')

Try this...............
Try the attached.....
Unzip it on your PC, copy the .EXE to your phone and run it on there - then do a soft reset.
Hope that helps
Mark.

Mark,
ran the fixunreadcount.exe, but the notification is still there. Thanks for your help, guess a hard reset is next tho.
Steve.

Weird thought just come into my mind.....
If you go into Messaging, there's an Inbox icon top left with a downward pointing arrow next to it; click that and it'll show a folder list for your email account(s) - if you have any set up - plus the SMS folder tree. You may see an unread message in Drafts or Sent Items or......check any of them that have an unread count next to them and read/delete any you find!!
As you say, a hard reset is the "cure all" for these sorts of situations, but it's a bit severe to have to do it to get rid of a pesky unread message!!!
Good luck finding it - hope you don't have to hard reset (or that I'm not too late and you already have!!).
Mark.

SMS Icon stays on and on and on...why?

on sending an sms, the icon (envelope icon on the status bar next to the signal strength icon) stays on permanently and on clicking it, states, 'SMS, Message Sent'. I am unable to get rid of it inspite of trying everything, including opening the inbox, deleting all messages there, etc.
This has happened recently after upgrading the IMATE with the new ROM from the ClubImate site. Anyone else facing this problem? Any solution besides of course, a soft reset? Thanks.
are you using pocket plus?
Thanks for your message triparte, actually YES, am using Pocket Plus. Is it because of that? Help Please. Thanks.
YES! if you close your messaging program before the message sent notification comes out.. it will stuck there. Pocketplus will attempt to exit the program before the notification ... after that it then will stuck there
So either let the notification msg appear before closing your messaging program or dont use pocketplus "close program on exit" function.
Thank you
Thank you Tripartite, will do as you suggest.

Text Message Inbox Empty, but shows over 1,000 items

I am an admitted text addict. That out of the way, I have a Touch Pro from Sprint. It runs the original WM6.1 that came with it. After a thousand texts or so to the same person, the threaded eventually empties itself and comes up blank. I figured I'd just empty my text inbox and start clean but it says down in the status bar that there are some 1,890 items left in the inbox. Even though the list is empty and shows nothing. I've rolled my conversation with the person probably twice before (emptying itself and starting from scratch). Any ideas on how to empty the hidden items or fix the glitch? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Jim
get sktools and delete the message database

Weird thing about SMS/MMS-- notifications not received properly

I wonder if anyone encounters this. Or is this normal by design?
rom: wm6.5, HTC's official release for diamond2 in southeast Aisa, WWE.
When the phone is started, Task Manager does not list the program (or process?) SMS/MMS.
In this state, SMS messages can be received normally, with proper notifications I set.
After I reply to a message, tap the cross in the upper right corner of the inbox (native inbox of Outlook), and return to the Home screen, I can never receive message notifications. As soon as I open th inbox again, the notifications all come.
This is strange, since incoming messages can be received, even when SMS/MMS is not listed in Task Manager.
The only explanation can be that the system process incoming messages and delivery notifications in different ways?
I have a HTC Touch, which carries wm6.0. The same thing happens on this phone. I haven't noticed this during the use of HTC Touch in the past year and the use of Diamond2 during the past four months!
Can anyone confirm this?

start menu bar replacement wm6.5?

I was wondering what the simplest/best start menu bar replacement for wm6.5 is... i can't seem to search for the right thing.
I want to replace the entire start menu bar... w/ teh start button, the time, the sound, and notifactions (like wisbar or gigabar used to do back in teh day)
the reason why i want to replace it is because I don't like how my notifications are displayed. Currently, if I have one notification, it shows teh correct icon (missed call or email). But if I have 2 notifications, it shows the generic "notification" icon.
I'd prefer to see separate icons... i.e. a missed call icon, followed by an email icon to indicate these are my 2 notifications.
Moreover, on my phone (ipaq glisten), if I receive an email, the notification will show up on the start menu, but if hte email gets cleared on the server, the ipaq will also clear it (and it won't show up on my today screen), however, the icon remains until i go to the mail app (even though there are no longer any new mails). This is annoying.
Any suggestions? I don't need anything fancy... it's really just the nofications that are bothering me.
Moved as not software release.
i guess my question can be simplifed to:
if i have more than one notification, how can i get them to display separate icons for each type of notifcation (instead of a generic "balloon"/notification icon)?
If anyone has used Windows Mobile Standard (non touch screen), you know what i mean. If i get an email and a missed call, i see 2 different icons on the startmenu/status bar.
my second question is:
if i receive an email, my phone will show the email icon on the start menu bar. this is great. however, if i don't touch my phone (so the icon is still there indicating unread email), and i check the mail on my computer, so it's marked as read, it will also be marked as red on my phon. this is also great. HOWEVER, it will still show the mail status icon in the start menu bar, even though there are no new messages anymore. To clear it, i have to go to the mail app...
bumpity bump... seems like this subforum is dead!
the email thing is still a really annoying issue... after clearing emails on my desktop, and i take a look at my phone, i think i still have new emails.. but i don't... it's just the icon isn't going away until i go to my inbox.
lol already on the third page... i hope i get banned for bumping again.
really, no one knows of a) a fix for my described problem or b) a program which shows all the notifications?

Click to collapse
I also find this very annoying! Anyone having a solution for this?
Thanks.

Problem with SMS after upgrading to Winmo 6.5

After I upgraded to the official sprint winmo 6.5, text messages aren't displayed properly. Specifically, when I get a text message, and I hit the Message icon on the home page toolbar, the new message isn't displayed. Before upgrading, it used to have a listing of the last 25 txt messages I had received. This list doesn't get updated anymore. To view the new text now, I have to hit the "All Messages" button and scroll through all of the threads.
Does anyone have a fix for this? Thanks.
I noticed the same thing. As the buffer started to fill up with new messages things got a little better, but it still isn't as nice as 6.2.
im having the same problem used sprint win 6.5 then did good things to life cleanup tweek and now sms will not work at al. I can send fine just can not view recived messages.
SMS
Having the same issue, anybody got a fix for this yet?
