I am looking for a way to customize how the front LED (in the earpiece) behaves. I would like for the LED to constantly blink green indicating that there is a cell signal available. Other than this, the LED would behave the same way it always had. If you are familiar with older HTC devices, the LED would do this on a number of them.
I am willing to pay money for a program or ROM that does what I am looking for.
I'll admit I found this change...curious. Dunno why HTC felt the need.

I know that a lot of people find it annoying to have a LED that is constantly blinking, and I can understand why. I just find it very useful and really hope there is a way to restore this functionality.
I would love to have a program or something that would turn off the charging light. I find the charging light to be annoying at night.

Is there a cab or settings what I could change that there would be slow blinking led when my HD2 is powered on?
F.e at night it would be nice to know is there still power in battery
that is actually a pretty col idea.
also since the led is multi coloured it could use a different colour/time to flash to the notification system.
i.e. when you have sms/mms/email etc you get the usual green flash, but when its sat doing nothing maybe once every 15 seconds get an orange or red (if there is red cant remember) flash to show power on status!

I would like to have this back as well. HTC has had this in its phones since the Wallaby and I don't understand why they removed such a simple yet very useful functionality. It was there in my Wallaby, my Himalaya, my Alpine, my Blue Angel, my Universal (and even in my MWg Flame). Without this indicator, the Leo just looks plain DEAD when on standby.

Exactly agree!!
To add to this, in earlier HTC devices, the LED would blink as configured in the sounds and notifications even when cradled or charging. The Leo doesn't do this. It just keeps its LED statically red or green even with new notifications. So there's no way of knowing if you had a new message or notification.
I don't know when HTC started to remove these functionalities. The Universal still had them. Then I had the MWg Flame for almost two years. When I got my Leo, they weren't there anymore.
Would be very nice.......
Anything new about this...??
I'd like to have this Feature too.
Maybe, it would be possible to configure the LED, to flash when the cellular network is available?!
Could someone confirm that is this even anyhow possible?
I want this too!
i would also be very interested in this. thanks
This must be possible as people have played around with LED before. God I miss this the amount of times I've turned my phone on cos there was no way of know if it was on or off.
It would be a nice idea.
Come on guys, is it possible ?!

PLEASE,any developer to help with this one?
Yes, yes... I am really waiting this... Devs, plz help!!
It would be nice.
Any news???
I would love this also.
PS - I think all the clever devs have moved to Android or WP7. Not spending any time on WM anymore.

Should be very easy to implement... maybe I'll try to write something later this evening...
Hey guys, a friend of mine has this ap, NoLED for his galaxy and its friggin awesome, and I tried it on my incredible just to see if it worked (didnt see anything about phone support) but my phone started spazzing and rebooting.
wondering if anyone else can get it running or if a possible port might happen?
heres the guys home page

This is an awesome idea. Would really like to see if this can b ported to the inc. Since the inc has a shabby led as is, turning the screen into a led notification would b a +1. Hopefully some of the devs can respond on this.
I would not agree. For several reasons. I had two of the GS phones, vibrant and epic. The vibrant has no led so they created that app.
For one... it caused several problems. And didn't help the meager battery life. Although development perhaps continued along after I uninstalled.
Two... even on AMOLED it uses alot of battery to constantly keep that light on. Okay well on AMOLEDs, black pixels use no power. Each pixel is self powered. so theoretically only that tiny led dot is using power. I just remembered the Dinc's use AMOLEDS, so that is not necc an issue, except for the SLCDs which are backlit. In any case ask Nexus owners how much battery one led can use.
Overall, I changed my mind... it's xda, the theory here tends to be if you can do it, you should. So hey go for it. Just remember my review. It's useful to a point although I always wished you could swap the red led for pictures or whatever else you want, but it does drain your battery and can be confusing in use.
i use it all the time without issues, but it kills battery life. 100% wake time blows.
I have been using it for a while as well, works great but battery life sucks.
Since we all know the primary notification light indicator in the top-left corner of the Aria is less than adequate brightness-wise and visibility-wise I would like to propose a new alternative LED indicator: Use the capacitive menu buttons instead!
I was thinking if, at all possible, only one would need to be lit up - which I'd like to use the home button. I'm not sure if each one can be lit up seperately though.
What do you guys think?
Cool idea, but I have a feeling all of the button lights are linked. If you take the back housing off the phone and look at the glass from the edge, it looks like it's just one light...

Less than adequate in what way? With CM 6.1 mine flashes when I get an email, text, missed call or voice mail. Its RED while its charging and changes to GREEN when its full charged. Am I missing something?
I don't see how flashing the Home button would be any different than what we have now.

I should have been more specific, the brightness and visibility is what is less than adequate!
I have to actually hold the phone up to my face and directly look at it to see the light emitting any "light" - what's the point of that??? Mine as well is turned on and the fact that I don't even notice it is a shame really.
With other devices I've owned (blackberry comes to mind).. I could see the notification light clearly visible from afar.
If you're judging my idea because you think it's stupid, then please keep your comments out of here - it's development, not judging time.
Thank you.

Thanks for the clarification. Yes I would agree that compared to other phones I have had, the LED is not near as obvious, especially with a case on. Using the Home button may be more obvious, but you would lose the color aspect that the LED offers.
Does anyone elses LED stop blinking for notifications shortly after it starts? I was hoping it would continue to blink until i check the message or what not.
Yep. Not sure why but it seems hit or miss on the LED.

is there anyway to bake this into the a ROM? It would really be nice to have it continue to blink so i dont have to turn my screen on in order to see if i have a missed message/call/etc

Yeah it's a little baffling how they setup the LED notifs, I'm hoping someone will fix/update/change that quickly. I've had the phone for two weeks and I still an not sure which blinking LED means what specifically.
Sire note, I'm also getting random vibrates which happen with no notifs at all and it's a little worrisome from a "what in the hell is the phone doing" standpoint but overall I love this phone.

I have had that before too, thought I was going crazy
Glad to see this is a sought after feature. Maybe I'll work with some devs and see what can happen.
Is there not a notification LED for the Charge? You know, when you get a message or something? My Droid X had an LED indicator light that would flash until the phone was checked. For the life of me I can't seem to find where to enable/disable this? Please help.
It does not have a notification LED, quite disappointing for such a high priced phone. Just like the galaxy S2, even with its insane specs and high praises they still couldn't manage to put a notification LED, I'd rather have that then a front facing camera
You can use the free app NoLED if you would like a way to simulate having a notification LED
The led not being there has been a big con for me but if that's the worst I guess I can live with it. I would not reccomend using led "simulated" apps as your battery life is killed by them because of the screen being in the on state

Ya that is true, I'm also pretty sure it keeps your phone from sleeping since the screen is on which of course means even more battery drain. Just recommending a way to simulate the LED though I'm hoping someone makes an app to just have your back LED(for your camera) do a small flash every 15ish seconds, sure most people set their phones face down but still!
Missed Message Flasher works for me with few complaints.
NOLED I didn't care for.
What are the small circles up at the top of the phone on the right for? Photo sensors of some kind?

I'm thinking they are sensors to detect light and adjust your screen brightness and I know one of them detects when your face is in front of the phone while on a call to prevent the screen from staying on..
