Hey guys,
I downloaded the Dolphin HD Browser last night (free version) to try it out on the X. The features of this browser are amazing and is easy to use but it has horrible lag. Anyone else experience the same problem as me? Or is this just how the program acts? I uninstalled the program because it was just that bad
We don't disrespect the Dolphin Bro! LoL...
Its due to all the extra goodies so its worth the few milliseconds of diff.

Lol...sorry ...I wasn't trying to disrespect just wondering because the browser is way better than the stock one on the X
Slow??? Not at all for me, if anything its faster than the stock browser. The one thing i have noticed is it trys to load the majority of the page before it displays it.
Dolphin hd Being able to disable the notification bar = my default browser.
Dolphin HD Best Browser Confirmed!

To be honest dolphin is the sh**
Don't mean to be a hater, but I didn't quite get it. I was always an Opera Mini fan on WinMo, so I quickly put it on my X, but it doesn't seem to support pinch to zoom.
I downloaded Dolphin, and while it does support PTZ, I don't quite see where it's better than the default browser.
I'm willing to listen though. Educate me.
Even with pinch and zoom, its not that good. With opera it formats the text so you can read it straight down with dolphin I had to keep scrooling left and right to keep reading. Opera in my opinion is the better choice.

Dolphin does that too. Opera Mini?? I guess if you like seeing only the text on a site.......
Dolphin is best becuase A: It hides the notification bar, B: you can swipe left or right to get to the adress bar instead of going all the way to the top of the page. and C: its generally better at rendering pages than the stock browser.
and I used to be the BIGGEST dolphin hater back in the day. It has come a reallllly long way since then. Tried Xscope but that thing while having alot of features was buggy to the max!
Wow...I guess I started on a very touchy subject for some of you . The load speeds on the browser itself are fine, it's just the menus that were lagging for me. I will give it another go after we get froyo on this thing.

I'm still using the stock internet browser as of now, and I decided it's probably time for a change. I've tried Dolphin Browser Mini, not a huge fan of it, and my battery life seemed to drop considerably faster after using it, Dolphin HD doesn't suit my graphical "needs", and I'm just not a huge fan of the Dolphin Browser family in general. :/
So outside of those, what do you guys recommend in terms of internet browser replacements?
Just as a note; I would prefer speed over fancy looks and extras that aren't needed.
I would say miren browser

I second Miren Browser
I've tried Dolphin, Opera, Skyfire, and Miren. I always come back to Skyfire because it's the fastest for me and has all the controls I need right in front of me.

I stopped using dolphin anything and went with miren because dolphins browsers cause a partial data wake lock on my epic and others I have flashed locally, when it is in standby causing massive battery drain

Dolphin HD is better than mirren in my opinion, but dolphin drains battery very fast on the Droid X.

I've used stock, opera, Firefox, dolphin HD and mini, xscope and now Miren...
No flash in opera is a show stopper for me... Firefox doesn't do text reflow and dolphin HD I found bloated...
I settled on dolphin mini for a while - it's fast and has enough extra features to warrant using it over the stock browser....
Just recently tested both xscope 6 and miren... both v good, fast, tweakable, lots of features... settled on miren because I find it easier to use and I think it looks better.

miren & ucbrowser.. both equally d same best browser
Looks like I'll be trying Miren.
Right after I get done with this essay. >.>
Thanks for the suggestions guys. (If anyone else wants to make their opinion known, feel free)
From my experience on the Evo, Dolphin HD has a lot of nice features, but ultimately its demand for resources caused it to be laggy often. Dolphin mini is a nice one from the same developers. It also has some neat features built in, like gesture control, tabs, and pdf save. Mini is also quite fast. Firefox beta is still in testing, and notably so with several glitches. Eventually the mozilla crew will get it.
All said, Opera Mini has been my favorite. If you enjoy a smarter text reflow experience, you will enjoy opera mini. Although no flash support, you can simply use the youtube app or the stock browser to watch video. For general browsing, mini has it all with all the speed.
the only thing you need in a browser is flash and speed. The rest is all up to the user, and whether or not you like the interface.
I find that Miren is the most user friendly for me. I like the speed dial on the homepage, and the new copy and paste is terrific.
I recommend skyfire for me is the best.
Greetings
Just looking to see what browser everyone uses,I've tried a few different ones and haven't found the "perfect" one yet I like the sync feature that firefox has to sync my bookmarks and tabs, specifically the "real time" sync of pages I have open my PC. But for some reason firefox is real laggy on my bolt,Does any other browser have that?
Miren. It's insanely good. I set flash plug-ins to on demand, location off, and its amazing. http://market.android.com/details?id=cn.miren.browser

Firefox on a bolt... Wow. Firefox has been slow and funky on any android phone I've owned.
I agree with the Miren browser suggestion. I've been using it for many moons.
You may want to try out XScope too. It's a speedy feature filled browser. I purchased dolphin xd and used it for awhile, but once I found Miren, I uninstalled the dolphin and never looked back.
Love the stock browser the best.
Dolphin mini is fast.

Google made the stock browser ;-)
I use stock browser if it's AOSP, but I hate the Sense changes to it so I use Dolphin on Sense.
after playing with Miren for a bit, definitely a nice browser. Don't know why all the browsers want to be light blue or light green though.
Only thing seems missing is private mode.

Maybe any links to what the browser is capable of in ICS?
Check the development forum...ICS is amazing, and the browser is much faster now.

Pretty much this. I have noticed a big difference in page rendering on ICS. I won't go as far as to say it's revolutionary because I don't think HC was that bad, but it is definitely improved.
Some pages, like XDA forums, are particularly bad in the honeycomb browser. No such issue on ICS browser. This page renders and scrolls smoothly, just like many other.
Thanks for the replies. I just picked up the Asus Transformer Prime & the keyboard dock. I'm looking forward to ICS on this baby.

One major difference is the iPad is not loading the Adobe Flash content/ads. XDA is extremely bad because of all the ads it has embedded. My suggestion is (if your not using my ROM) is to get an ad blocker, pages will load much faster.

The only other browser that I've used on ICS is the new Firefox. Firefox isn't as snappy as the ICS browser but doesn't seem to have the issues with links not opening. I'm also not a huge fan of the Firefox UI, so I tend to use the stock browser most of the time.
I find that setiing plug ins to "on demand" makes a big difference, the browser isn't trying to load all the flash stuff then. Mine is now pass able, still not as smooth as the ipad or ie9 in wp7 but I do have flash available which mostly makes up for the laggy performance.
definatly alot smoother.

I have a copy and paste app that just takes a long press to activate. Clip It works really well. There are quite a few free apps that do this...they are just resident and are available when you need them.
The long press can do wonders in android...many possibilities.
I have been using xScope Pro w/pure black theme for the longest time now, I was tired at the time of dolphin's rendering issues. xScope still works well for me, its a super lightweight browser that renders very fast. Some of the UI just seems kinda dated, like all the pages(bookmarks, downloads, settings, etc) are like basic html text pages.
But now there seems to be alot of other browsers out there that may be a bit more clean and still be pretty quick. Over the last few days I've played with a bunch of browsers; stock browser, xScope, opera mini, opera mobile, skyfire, dolphin hd, dolphin mini, boat browser, and boat browser mini... so many choices.
I like dolphin mini, boat and boat mini the most as far as ui/features/speed. They all have a similar ram footprint, mini versions little less ram usage. But I noticed both dolphin hd & dolphin mini browsers tend to use more cpu when I was playing with them. Even well after the page was loaded and the browser was in the background I would see 2-4% usage pretty frequently. Enough to make it a strong negative against. Still haven't picked one for sure, but boat browser is looking better and better.
Kinda curious what everyone else uses.
I'm kind on the same boat as you're, but at the end I'm back to xScope. It's the fastest and very low over head. My main goal is speed, not bells and whistles. I used this browser to open facebook and it's the fastest. Facebook app is nice but it run as a service and used up a lot of battery while idling and cpu also. I would save about 2hrs battery life after uninstall facebook.

I was also using xScope pro with the pure black theme for a while, but like you I eventually got tired of it. I am now using Maxthon with the black theme and so far I like it. It is feature-rich, with great performance, and the UI is an improvement over xScope. You should give Maxthon a try and see what you think.
PS the pure black theme for xscope is better looking than the black theme for maxthon however

The speed of Maxthon is great but the pinch zoom in faceboock is not working well at all compare to xscope.
I have been using Dolphin HD for the longest time now. I tried other browsers out of curiosity but always went back to Dolphin because of it's speed. Boat Browser is my second option, it's kinda like Dolphin but IMO not as fast

Used to use opera until I tried boat browser on my Transformer Prime. It blows away all other browsers IMO

Unfortunately, the stock browser is still the best out there. I absolutely do not understand how this is true, yet it is. It has blown my mind that not a single dev has released anything close to good. Chrome? Firefox? Miren has been abandoned.. WTF? Opera is okay, but still Meh..

dolphin browser has had several privacy issues...there is a thread on it in the regular Android apps forum. The most popular choice there was Boat Browser although if you are running ICS Chrome Beta seems to be the winner.
Personally, I like Dolphin Browser HD. I've used Opera, and the Stock on. But DB has the features I enjoy the most. It's Tabbed browsing is just like Chrome's.
Chrome for ICS, Dolphin for browsing wap sites, Opera for browsing web sites (i.e, flash)...
dolphin and sky fire works best for me
Chrome beta for ICS is real good, though i have only been playing with it for a couple of days, I really like the feel and look.
Chrome for ICS wins hands down! The only pity is no flash...
Not having flash isn't a pity, it's a major oversight on Googles part. Seriously... Wth.?

Pre-ICS my favorite browser was Miren Browser. Hands down. Since I've moved to ICS, it has been Chrome only because I'm a fanboy. No flash and horrible zoom rendering make it tough to use at times (I understand it's still in Beta), but it's my favorite so far. It is definitely the fastest.
Gotta say Chrome.

It's a shame chrome is only for ICS - Dang marketing strategies...!!!
Opera Mini is good for browsing when only edge connectivity is available.
Firefox is ok, but i dislike the way it does zoom.
Dolphin and Miren browser are good.
And that, is my pov
Chrome beta and ICS Browser + I prefer on ICS. I also like Dolphin Browser Mini. Have used that browser for awhile.
One thing I like about the stock ics is it signs in your account automatically on Google services... not present with chrome beta(it does sync with desktop chrome tho, which the original one doesn't...
