Since Froyo now allows us to move apps to the SD card I've been wondering, what effect will this have on app performance? Wouldn't the on-board ROM memory be faster than the average SD card? If so wouldn't an app run just a hair or more slower? Even if no change would be noticed with a good/average SD card I wonder how a bad/slow SD card would effect an app running directly from it. Has anyone using Apps2SD noticed a difference? How about the people who have been using a root method of storing apps on the SD card long before Froyo's Apps2SD?

With Froyo enabling Apps2SD feature, I've been moving my apps to my SD card slowly, those who support it anyway. I've noticed that not the entire app moves to the SD card. For example I downloaded Alchemy, which is more than 2MB in size.
When I moved it to SD card, it showed less than 1 MB had moved to the SD card! Why is that? Is moving entire apps technically impossible?
Some parts of the installation are always installed on the device. Services and other core parts of the app are still on the device to assure the app is not crashing if you remove the sd card (and some parts of the app are still running). Besides that when you insert the sd card into another device you can't use the app. Some kind of copy protection I guess. This said I thought it's the same like it was on Windows Mobile.
I see. Doesn't that mean the ROM bottleneck hasn't actually been removed? Still I suppose it's better than before. Too much of an app still resides on the phone as opposed to the SD card in my opinion - more than half in most cases.
root ?
i've read about the method that people used to use before froyo came out that involves rooting the phone.i guess that would not leave any traces on the phone storage ? i guess that the better option still ?
I'm really new with android and haven been messing around with different roms to find the one like best. One of the rom had the option setting to let me decide whether external/internal memory for me to install my apps. Now I am using eaglesblood latest rom 2.3.7 and noticed he doesn't have that setting so I was wondering if there is another way to install to internal memory.

Most, if not all of the custom ROM's allow you to move your apps to your external SD through the Manage Applications menu. If not there, then you should be able to use apps such as:
App 2 SD (move app to SD)
and/or
A2SDGUI - Darktremor A2SD GUI
Both of which allow rooted devices to move application to the external SD card to conserve space.
I tried the two apps you gave me but they both said my apps are already in the internal memory. Idk if this is normal...when I go to storage in settings...there are actually three storage. 1. Is my SD card which is 3.69gb...2. Is internal memory which is only 1.48gb...and 3. Is additional storage: /mnt/emmc and it have 5.21gb...I want to be able to install my apps, especial apps like navigon that requires about 2gb of space for maps into the additional storage.

Some apps, like navigation, market and a few others will not run after being installed on an external storage as they use other files/system resources to operate properly. The only thing you want to store on the SD card is apps that you install that didn't come with the phone. "Most" apps will run from the external storage as they do not require the use of other system files. To sum it up, installed angry birds? Move it to the SD card/external memory. Installed superuser? Leave that on internal memory.
I think the option you are talking about is a feature of CM7 roms. It actually flips your emmc memory to run as external and then your internal memory to be seen as external. I think this is for people with small Rom space but then still have a large internal memory system like the g2x. By flipping it you can have a large main partion so you don't have to worry about apps2sd. It's only in cm7 for what I know but you look up apps2link to see if that might be something similar

I have HTC sensation 4G. I bought a 16 GB SD micro card and also have an 8GB card. Both my cards are full with videos which I need to access often for my exam purposes. But each time I change the cards, the applications don’t run properly and I have to re install the apps. Also I doubt that frequently changing the SD card would age my phone quicker. Does anyone here have any experience with this? What is the best way to keep swapping sd cards frequently without any hassles?
Are your apps located on the SD Card when you go into Settings > Applications > Apps on SD Card?
If so, move them to internal memory.
switching sd cards very often
Like everyone knows HTC Sensation has a very low internal memory which will not be enough to move all apps to internal memory. Moreover I swap sd cards at least twice a day and I don't want to move apps each time. So is there any way I can just swap SD cads without moving apps to internal memory.

You must have big apps or a lot of apps! I have around 78 and around 50% remaining. 1GB isn't a lot but it's not 'very low' either IMO.

Well without magic, no. You have two options. Apps go to the internal memory, or the SD card. If you can't put them on internal and you take out the SD, then they won't be there.
Possible Solution 1: Remove some apps? I use like 12 third party apps total.
Possible Solution 2: Download a converter such as Mobile Media Converter or SUPER and re-encode the videos at a lower quality - allowing for less storage to be used.
Possible Solution 3: Deal with it.
Move the app data to both of your SD cards.
Get a 32GB card? lol
I used to use an 8GB card, then I bought a 16GB one. I just copy all the data from the old card to the new one, insert it in my phone and all the apps works.
Many people want to move their apps to SD because of the space issue.
I am a minimal app user
What I concerned is performance or speed.
Will the performance increases if I move an app to the internal SD card?
Some say that the phone will run faster because less phone space is used.
Another question is the internal SD card really an SD card?

No... I don't think there will be any change... Just saves a little space...
And internal sd card is not an sd card like external sd card i.e. memory card... It is like a memory card placed on phones motherboard... Maybe It includes system partition and other partitions... You can't remove it or change it yourself...

I just have noticed that after update to android 10 I have all my app on internal memory and can not move them to the external SD card like before in Android 9. Is there any way to save apps on external SD card?
I am wondering the same thing
You just want to save a copy of the app?
The SD card data bus is slower than the internal memory one. You don't want the OS to need to access the SD card constantly when running an app.
Q is already hamstrung by its scoped storage as it is...
