Does anyone have a version of this keyboard that is multi touch? That is the ONLY thing that I don't like about it. I still can't find my perfect keyboard (I've tried them all too!). Every keyboard has pros and cons. I like the HTC IME keyboard along with swype. Swype also does not have multi touch (for when I tap my text in) and I cant get used to the numbers not being across the top of the keyboard...

HTC_IME for Nexus One [Pixelated Version]

http://drop.io/p12auxn#
I'm not 100% sure this is it since I don't have my Nexus One yet so I need someone willing to test.
I found it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0dFh9RKsN6w&feature=player_embedded
This is the same one that's pixelated on the Nexus One. Also, doesn't stretch the full screen in landscape mode.
It is still the pixelated version. That wouldn't even bother me that much if the correction bar on the top fit on the screen and wasn't horribly warped.
Damn sorry then. The one in the video looks good though.
do you need to be rooted for this? Because I tried it using an appinstaller. It shows up in the clicker, but when I create new messages, it reverts back to the stock google keyboard.
You have to go into the settings and enable it, then when you're in a message box click the box and hold, then select "input method". You can alternate between the 2.
haha ya i forgot to do the "hold" part in the message box. thanks!
pixelated...but at least i don't have to switch back n forth for numbers and punctuations. can't wait for the non-pixelated version w/ microphone key =)

We'll need a high-res 2.1 SenseUI device to come out - probably need to wait for a Bravo leak.
Yep, works fine on N1 running MCR1.1 but pixelated. Will have to live with that for a while as it still beats the hell out of the standard Android keyboard...
Is the file linked from youtube the same as this file?

So I emailed HTC to find out if they will update the htc_ime.apk so that it will work on the nexus or look properly I should say. I am currently waiting for a response... let you guys know when I get a reply. I will post it.

Ha good luck with that. They won't update it until they release a phone with the Hi-Res Sense UI.
Most likely we'll have to wait until a bravo dump is leaked or another sense UI device w/ a hi res screen's dump is leaked.
I'm running HTC_IME on the N1.... its great to have it back, only complaint is the lack of the dedicated 'microphone' key thats in the default keyboard... so AFAIK once you install HTC_IME you can NOT dictate text messages and the like
Does anyone know how to edit the dictionary for htc ime?
I don't know about editing words but you can erase it by going into your settings > applications > keyboard > clear data.
I installed this and it works great but my only issue-request would be to add more languages. The option is there, when you go to settings from inside the keyboard, but unfortunately, only english is available.
In the past, people have made language packs...could someone do on for this? pleeeeeeeease?
Thanks,
Lou
I used to change com.htc.android.htcime_preferences.xml file to enable dual language on my htc ime. I was wondering if this can be changed in the apk before installing. I dont want to root my nexus.
Thanks
Anyone have any idea what that task killer widget is he uses in the video? Basically its sitting on the homescreen and kills the tasks with one click, no need to open an app...

[REQ] HTC HD Mini Keyboard

Hi everyone,
I'm locking for the keyboard that is on the stock HTC HD Mini Rom. HTC made an update of the keyboard and i'm very interested in the keyboard in the HTC HD Mini for my HTC HD2. If anyone can help me to found a cab for installing it, it would be great !
Thank you for your support,
Lorhdak.
What is different from the hd2 keyboard ?
Much more precise and bigger because there is no more the arrow at the bottom.

Or you can go for Nikoan89 ezinput 2.1. Thats the older version of the kb for devices with smaller screens. Its rather cool and the arrowz can be activated when needed..

Yeah I tried that but it seems to break my HTC messaging, had to uninstall it. I would like a keyboard without the arrows though, especially in landscape.
Swype doesn't have the arrows, and it can be used just like the stock one, OR you can actually "swype" each key like your supposed too
How to use Swype like the stock one ? When we don't swype and type fast it swype everything lol^^

Swype is a pain in the arse to use if you're not "swpying" each word

I agree thats why I really dont like bothering with Swype personally and stick with the stock HTC and the good predictive Text.

I remember this keyboard and trying it with my Touch Pro2 and haven't bothered even trying with the HD2 because I love the HTC Messaging Client. I do however love the arrows on the keyboard but would like the option to disable them when wanted and it would be really nice to see the option to minimize it easily like Android.
As far as the HD Mini, I would love to see the Notification Bar/ Screen ported for us because it has the task manger built into it as well and I would love to see that as well as the plain black theme for 6.5.X.

Froyo Sense UI Keyboard

here is the default keyboard that comes with the recent official update. it is multitouch which is quite nice, but you still can't get rid of auto caps.
deodexed (you probably want this one unless you know otherwise): http://www.mediafire.com/?7ikydrcttrrniu8

Awesome. Thanks bro
HUGE improvement over the 2.1 version.
Why in this day and age would you NOT give your flagship phone a multitouch keyboard?
I've been using HTC_IME_mod for days now and didn't realize 2.2 stock kb was multitouch.. thanks for the heads up.
OP, what do you mean you still can't get rid of auto caps?
it auto capitalizes the first word in every sentence.
HTC_IME mod needs an update
am i missing something, this is not multi-touch ?

I thought it was.. what exactly qualifies multitouch?

Hold down one key, while pressing on another - if the second key registers while you're holding down the first key THAT's Multitouch.
i.e. Press and Hold "A", while holding press "S" quickly. Your screen should read AS
So it is or isn't multi touch? I don't remember it being but thought I would ask before I bother to download.
i am using the keyboard that comes with cm6 nightly....is this different / better?
No workie in Cyan 6 rc1. I'm having a hell of a time finding a kb that works in froyo, cyan 6.0, and has the direction arrows.

Hi, it is different. Cyanogen uses the AOSP (Android Open Source Project) as a source and in turn does not convert proprietary software like HTC's Sense and associated keyboard. You are using the stock froyo keyboard. The HTC keyboard imho is the best for the platform currently.

Same result here - installation failed on CM6 RC1. The HTC_IME mod (hires v27)keyboard does work though (the 2.1 version ported and modded). I even attempted to use the Clicker.apk from HTC_IME mod package and then install this to no avail.
Can anybody confirm that this works/doesn't work with the CM6 nightlies?
I just tested it based on the criteria he described and it is multitouch.
I have confirmed - sadly - that this results in an Application not installed error in CM6 nightly - 08042010-010952.
Dpad or magnifying glass
Correcting my errors when typing is painful with no Dpad. I have been looking today with no luck.
Anyone know of an app that works like a magnifying glass similar to what the iPad has?
Why is it that I get a error saying there is a problem parsing package on? Ive seen it a couple times.

Just install the keyboard from the HTC IME from the EVO. It works on the Droid X in portrait flawlessly...however on landscape it's missing the extra 54 pixels. I've seen it before in the Droid X forums here on XDA. Search will be your friend.
thanks. found it - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=701089
installed it and get force close when trying to use it.
You have to have Clicker.apk installed to use the HTC_IME. Should be in the same file as the IME you found.
still fc for me even after install of clicker and a reboot.
EDIT: Found one that worked!! Needed the right version i guess. Ended up with the hi res froyo version. v27 i think. works great. don't see any gap even in landscape.
thanks for the tip!
can you share the link of the one that worked?

HTC Sensation + Swype

Just FYI, Swype works just fine on the HTC Sensation and is still the best/fastest keyboard for any device (IMHO).
The Beta program at Swype is currently open to new members.

I am having issues with swype on htc sensation. I am not able to get french and german languages. I only have english us/uk, portuguese, italian and spanish. I used to have french and german with swype on my htc magic. Anyone with a solution?

Oh, I wasn't aware. Thank you very for pointing that out. Gosh, I'm missing swype badly.
Hi
I am having issue getting swype to work on Sensation. I installed it from the beta page and it's enable in the Keyboard settings on the phone but the regular sense keyboard keeps coming up. Help !

Disregard.
I've registered with two different emails and I've requested to have the activation resent but they don't send anything. I've checked my junk mail. Does anyone have the actual apk or am I stuck?
Have to say it looks awesome with qHD now supported, works very well too

Just be patient, when I first registered it took a few days to get it.
Alright, I just want it so bad. I'm so used to it. Thanks.
What's the difference between Swype and Trace which is already on the sense keyboard? Also, can you use a standard phone keyboard with Swype? I've been using the standard phone keyboard in portrait, but when I turn the phone to landscape to bring up the full keyboard, the trace function is missing. It only works when the portrait keyboard is set to full keyboard.
got it.
still puzzles me why HTC decided not to load Swype on the Sensation and come up with their own...
anyway, what is up with the part of the agreement saying it can/may read your passwords, credit card info, ect?
edit: never mind... didn't realize it's a standard Android message for non market typing app... doh! lol

One sucks and one doesn't lol (j/k). Swype has been around a while been adjusted and tweaked based on feedback of millions of users. Trace, while a nice attempt by HTC to add the same functionality doesn't come close

I'd say try it again now. My brother was trying all night to get the email sent & it never went through. Went back today to get the verification email resent & it was instant.
