theming Power Control Widget - Hero CDMA Themes and Apps

Hey all,
I need some help identifying the location and name of the .apk that I can modify to theme my power control widget. I am running Fresh ROM 2.3.3.
thanks for any assistance you can render.
mbuchholz
EDIT:
my zip is too big... I don't have any place to host it, so if you want to try it out, pm me and I'll email it to you. If someone wants to host it for me, I'm cool with that. Here's a screenshot so you can at least see what it looks like.

Settings.apk
in system/app/
at least that's where in is on Cyanogenmod

Thanks for the assist. I found it with your info.

Ok, so I found the Settings.apk in /system/app/ but I can't seem to locate the .png that sets the background of the app. I'm trying to rid my power control widget of the dark gray backdrop so it looks nice and clean and clear. Can anyone help me out on this?
Thanks,

It should be in \res\drawable-mdpi
and the file name is appwidget_bg.9.png
I uploaded my metamorph file that makes a clear power control widget and makes the genie widget look like the one posted in this Clear Genie Widget you can take the png file from there and use it

That's the correct image, however, it is not located in Setting.apk, with the rest of the images, rather in com.htc.resources.apk.

Once you get this done would you consider uploading it? I would love to have a clear Power Control Widget, as I'm sure other's would as well!

Yes please, me too!!!

Thanks to everyone's help I have figured out how to remove the background. I need to tweak the icons a bit so it may be a day or so before I can upload a flashable zip. Keep in mind, if you flash the zip, it will reset your com.htc.resources.apk to stock fresh 2.3.3 except for the clear power control app background.
I'll post a reply with the flashable zip asap.
thanks again!

Clear Taskbar

I did a search, found one but the icons are changed. Does anyone have a .zip to have a clear taskbar (completely see through bar at the top) and leave whatever current icons I have on?

unless its metamorphed then it will change ur icons at the top. the png is in the framework files so what ever the framework file where someone changes the png will also change the icons that are in the framework file. like mentioned above the only other alternative is to use a metamorph to just change that one file.
Can you point me in the direction to that through metamorph?

Clear Power Widget w/out metamorph? (AKA - just an apk)

Does anyone out there know if there exists an APK of the Power Control Widget, but clear? I tried doing it with some metamorph zips I found, but they didnt work at all.
The clear part of the widget is spread across different framework files. Well, actually just the one. So, you'd have a modified com.htc.resources.apk to deal with. Better off just doing it yourself.

just adb pull your com.htc.resources.apk and I can update it for you if you don't want to change it yourself, pretty easy.

I pulled the apk and have no issues doing it myself, if I could just find the png for the backgrounds and such on this particular widget. Anyone know?

I got this to work with metamorph, but I cant get it to work now. I think it has to do with metamorph upgrade.

It is called appwidget_bg.9 and it is located in /system/framework/com.htc.resources.apk
unzip the .apk file and locate the png in res/drawable-mdpi folder
Let me know if you have anymore questions.
While we're on the sunject, where do I change the color (and potentially shape) of the green bars below the widget. Like, the green indicators that show that you have one of the options set to on.
I can pull the .apk and do it myself, I just need to know where Thanks!

Not sure what format they need to be in, but here is what appears to be the .psd template for those icons:
http://robbiekhan.co.uk/root/android/Android Launcher Pro Custom Icon Template Text Version.psd
They need to be in png format. That file is used to make custom icons with photoshop I believe. Unfortunately I don't have a computer so.. i need the png files.
You all just didn't look hard enough. There is a directory for all of his icons. Took me all of half a minute to find.

The files can be edited in photoshop, the only layers visible should be the text that you want to see as the icon.
After you get them how you'd like, save them as PNG files and copy them to your SD card and you're good to go.
can somebody just turn them into .png n post them plz

Theming Subsonic apk

Help!
I'm trying to theme the widget of the subsonic apk.
I downloaded the original apk. I then proceeded to decompile it, add my custom widget graphics, recompile the apk, and sign the file. I was able to install the apk with no issues. I was even able to add the widget to my homescreen, and it looked fine. But every time I open the program, I get an immediate force close. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
If someone wants to take a crack at it for me, I've attached the original apk, and the graphics from the drawable-hpdi folder. I'm probably missing something here, so I'd appreciate any help. Thanks in advance!
Okay this is driving me nuts, I've tried everything. Here's the widget background.

first off the new png's are not the right size. your png's are 32px and they need to be 48px. i cant edit them at work so i will try again when im off but for now try this
http://db.tt/NCULHGI
let me know if it installs or not.
No such luck, won't install.
Would LOVE a more aesthetically pleasing widget, my subsonic server is my new favorite feature for my mobile!
Subsonic is amazing! I just despise the widget. Its so ugly.

Bump for more help... I think I've attempted everything. I noticed that for some reason when after recompiling the apk, the button images have been switched to 32x32 pixels and the drawable-hdpi-v4 folder is renamed to just drawable-hdpi. I don't know what it going on. I'm using apktool.
hey sorry man. i just got busy. hey if you have all the pngs the right size then i would rename it and sign it. some apps are just very hard to mod and install

Stuck while making a new theme because of an icon!

Hi everyone! Im making a theme for Gingerbread for the Galaxy Tab and am stuck because of an icon I cant get rid of or find where it is! Can someone help and tell me WHERE the icon (below attached) that pops up on the task bar during Media Scanning, is hidden? I looked everywhere, all system APKs I can think of including framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk and cannot find it anywhere. Its driving me crazy!
I've successfully modded stat_notify_sdcard.png, stat_notify_sdcard_prepare.png and stat_notify_sdcard_usb.png from framework-res.apk and during PREPARE SD CARD operations the new updated icons show up.
However during MEDIA SCANNING operations, the old shows up again, no matter what. This stock icon I want to replace is hiding still somewhere else (..I cleaned all caches multiple times just in case and doesn't fix it)
Thanks in advance for the tip!
maybe you find in under music player ?
who knows
i never saw it before ~~

You're right again, thank you very very much!! Im almost done with all the graphics except one and editing some XMLs:
First, the download successful graphic was indeed in the vending.apk but when the download is not successful the standard red warning triangle is displayed. This graphic is not part of the vending.apk so im assuming its pulled from the standard stat_sys_warning.png from framework-res.apk?
Finally, I need to change and that is the size of the fonts for the date display on the top right of the taskbar. Do you know which XML or file I need to edit to change that font size?
Thanks again for all you amazing knowledge and help on this

I do believe the status bar clock is controlled by the services.jar and not a particular. Xml file, but ive never edited that clock so i am not 100% positive. Im horrible with smali code. Sorry! Yes the stat-notify-error.png in framework-res would control the statusbar icon for errors while downloading apps.

It's been a while but I'm pretty sure that one is either framework-res or twframework-res (if you're still on a TW ROM). I thought I saw it in amongst the stat_sys_* images, but I could be completely wrong. I don't think I've tried editing that one.
EDIT: By the way, check in status_bar_expanded.xml and status_bar.xml for some parameters regarding the clock, but be careful cos they can ruin a theme (everything from graphical artifacts to bootloops) quite easily.
