I know that there are lots of these battery life threads and i have read most of them and I've tried closing processes that i don't need and i have tried setcpu to keep the cpu low when the device is off, which seemed to help some but my phone would shutoff randomly. So last night i had a full battery and went to bed when i woke up 8 hrs later i was at 20% so about 10% an hr not even using the device. I have attached some pics for reference does anyone have any thoughts that might help. Thanks
I don't know about galaxy S but on my X10 the problem was wifi.
When I didn't have a data plan I had wifi on all day and the battery was down in 10h max 12h.
To improve it I had to use JuiceDefender to enable wifi every five minutes for updates..
Try to disable wifi overnight, reboot the phone and see what happens.
By the way, what app you used for those stats?

I don't have wifi enabled, I don't use it that often. the name of the prog is system panel
Very weird indeed. I have my Captivate with Wifi on all day, GPS signal and auto sync and when I go to bed and wake up, the battery hasnt gone down at all. I had the phone go on full battery one day and I even sent a few texts and went online for 10 minutes before it lost just a bit of battery.
Do you have that one LED app installed? The one that shows a little red dot on the corner of your screen when you have a notification?

Ok so i tested again last night and I did not have my im+ app running and the battery life was soooo much better. I also did not have system panel running which records all the battery and cpu stats but i'm think its the im+ app that was taking up all the juice. Can anyone think of another app that does skype and facebook but that also does not take up sooo much batter life??? Thanks

Open up the dialer and type in *#*#4636#*#*
Go to BATTERY HISTORY>PARTIAL WAKE USAGE and maybe that will show you which app is sucking up your battery life while you sleep.
Also try, if you don't absolutely need an internet connection while you sleep, SMODA widget to turn off your mobile internet. It's quick, free, and painless.

I drained mine down to 5% and charged full a few times and still only got 8 - 10 hours on mine until i flashed to jh2 and now have been getting almost 16 hours with same usage and apps installed. I charge mine at night. I use ebuddy with the piwer saver option turbed on abd it does an ok job.

I have the stock ROM and stock launcher and my battery is awsome! 8 hours and I will still be above 80%.
Brightness: Lowest (manually control via stock stock gesture)
GPS: OFF
Wifi: ON all day
BT: OFF
GMail manual
Other emails accounts hourly for the most part.
Widgets: Google/Fancy Weather
BG: Mostly Black
I have never seen such good battery life on a smart phone.
I could easily get 2 days, but i rather charge every night and then not worry about battery usage.
The wifi/gmail/gps made a big difference, its too bad you can't set gmail to hourly or something lik e that. Some of my email accounts i would like to set longer than hourly.
The last few days have been pretty good one my phone. Used to get maybe 16 hours but my last charge lasted me about 50 hours with moderate browsing, gaming, and voice/text. Juiceplotter is telling me I'll be getting about 47 hours

My battery icon depletes one notch when I'm using the screen for about an hour. Some people recommend cycling the battery, in which you do a full drain and immediate full charge, 3 or 4 times. I've done it, but it's hard to say if it explains my good battery life.
let the battery drain COMPLETELY until the phone turns off a couple times, then charge it till 100% without unplugging it.

You don't want to drain the battery that much, those kind of batteries can be damaged. The phone turns off for a reason.
I haven't done the cycle thing and its fine. A lot of that comes from older batteries with the memory problem.
irus, software which is based on data connection drains the battery one way or another. Some apps now support push notifications and IM+ does too. Did you try to use push?
These claims of multiple day charges with moderate use is crazy to me. I have the newest ROM, a black screen, display all the way down, gps off, wifi on when in range, make zero voice calls, run juice, and only have 2 widgets that update every 4 hours. I use my phone for a maximum of 3 hours browsing the web, reading XDA and feedR, checking facebook and the occasional text message. My phone lasts a total of 12 to 14 hours. My battery has a manufacture date of late July. Is there some secret I am not aware of?

im using juice defender and task killer and ive been off the charger for over 8 hours with moderate texting, one 5 min phone call, checked email once, read the news for about 20 mins and my battery is at 46%. Try juice defender it turns off your data when the screen gets turned off and that pretty much doubled my battery life. With 3g data on all the time my battery gets murdered.

I havent had any issues with the battery life. In fact, It took me 8 hours to completely drain the factory charge (Which is usually around 45% shipped). However, I am an Ex Sprint Hero user so my expectations may not be as high as yours.
I was having issues also. My issue was app related, Google Voice was cutting my battery life in half.
Do you mean Google Talk or actually Google Voice? If it is Google Voice, did you just sign out and use Sprint's Visual Voicemail?

Yes, Google Voice. You can still use it, but I would suggest turning off background data in the app itself and enable the option to get text alerts when you have a message or voicemail.
I've used it for over a year, but I think I'm gonna ditch it. I found out that the unlimited mobile-to-mobile doesn't count when someone calls my google voice number. That means others are using there regular minutes to call on my google voice number even though it's mobile-to-mobile. The same goes for voice mail, you also use minutes for that because it's forwarding to another number.
First day of owning a ChaCha. My phone lost 30% of battery just sitting overnight. What the hell? I went to bed with 75% and woke up with 45% about 7 hours later.
Battery use lists three items: Cell standby, Phone idle, and Display. Shouldn't there be more?
I really want to like this phone, but this is simply unacceptable. Is there something I'm missing here?
Also, has anyone noticed that the phone takes a ridiculous amount of time to charge when connected to a computer?

Maybe. I'm also having software issues where after one call, my Dialer app begins draining my battery rapidly, using over 90% of the battery according to the Battery Use page.
Anyway, battery performance on this phone seems so far to be a bit erratic. Eh. I'm interested in trying out a CM port whenever that becomes available on this phone to see if it helps.

Do you make calls often? Next time you make a call, could you check your Battery Use page under "Settings -> About phone -> Battery -> Battery use" and see if "Dialer" takes up a large percent.
Thanks!
In fact, could anyone else who has a ChaCha please reply to let me know if they experience Dialer taking up a huge percent of the battery after making a call? You can check under "Settings -> About phone -> Battery -> Battery use".
I know one person on another forum who brought up this issue before I even experienced it myself, so I know I'm not alone, but I don't know whether this is bug is specific to my phone or for all ChaChas.
Thanks!

Hm, okay, thanks.
Yeah, the battery life seems to be quite bad for me as well even when the Dialer issue isn't happening. Oh well.
So since my last post I made a 3 sec call that was it.
Stats show, 10h since charge,
Dialer has used 96% !!! Of battery, that's why the standby is so bad, I'm going to email HTC.
Can the dialer app be changed?
Or is that a root luxury, cyanogen 6 had a decent dialer on my legend....
Sent from my HTC ChaCha A810e using Tapatalk
On my phone, 49% is dialer app, and for me, it's too much, since I do not use phone for too many calls.
exactly the same here ... after 2 mins of phone call - battery stats said that it takes more than 60% of battery use... And the weirdest thing is, that I used internet browser, tweetdeck and greader before for more than 2 hours...
I suggest everyone write in to HTC support so they might get a fix out soon. I've already contacted them.
Another question: how much battery drains overnight while your phone is just on standby? Mine loses about 40% in about 9 hours overnight.
Mine runs like forever, when i just use it for email, sms and a few calls.
I charged mine on Thursday and last evening the battery bar went to orange.

In 7 hours of standby, battery dropped for about 3%.
Mine drains about 15-20% during the night (00:00 - 7:00)
Is your mobile network turned on while you are in standby?

Yeah, but why should I have to uncheck that?! I even have push email disabled during non-peak hours.
My iPhone loses like 5% overnight with push and full 3G data still enabled. I'm not expecting iPhone performance, but 40%? What could possibly be happening on the phone that it uses that much battery overnight? I checked my battery use page and my phone is in fact going to sleep when I lock it.
Ah well. I'll try to see if I can isolate this issue to a certain app or something when I have time.
Well, I turned on mobile network, and I lost about 2% within 10 minutes in standby mode, but I will test this a little better tomorrow.

My HTC ChaCha has the dialler issue.
I charge my phone overnight and would expect it to last all day, even with heavy usage. By 1pm (i leave for work at 7.30am) battery life is becoming a serious issue. I then have to charge the phone in order for it to last till i get home at 6pm.
The dialer is always using 95/96% of my battery.
I only make or receive 1 or 2 very short calls during the day.
This isnt such a problem in work as I can charge the phone, but im going away next week and wont be able to charge it every couple of hours.
I was going to buy another battery as i thought this would be a solution but its obviously not the battery, its something to do with the software.
I've seen a couple threads praising their s4s for how long the battery life and in one case how much it flatlines while it's idle.
Since I've had mine , I've noticed the opposite. Using it very casually throughout the day with some light texting it'll drain probably about 30-40% while doing very little of anything.
But the part that stands out the most is when my s4 is idle overnight , it'll drop about 17-20% while others have reported seeing very little loss.
Has anyone else expierenced poor battery life? Is this normal for my s4 to do?
The only features I have turned on are; Wifi, Sound, Mobile Data, and Sync.

If it were a mystery app running in the background, would it be listed on the battery stats screen showing the % each program is taking up?

One of the problems I had when updating to my new S4 was the memory card. Going from the S3 to the S4 was not good. The S4 didnt like the memory card and was causing high Gallery cpu/battery usage. Reformating the card fixed that problem.
Now, my Galaxy S4 has the best life of any Android I have ever had. At the end of the day, it still has 40% battery remaining with an screen on time of around 4 hours.

I think you're aiming in the right direction here. That was one of my guesses was that sync is draining it fast.
Just checked what i had under accounts. The only ones that were syncing were Google (toggled off a few of the features i don't use so i only sync what i do use, drive , calender etc)
The only other one that was on was Samsung account which i just toggled off as well since I don't have any need for that to be synced up whatsoever.
The only other apps I can think of that actively try to sync are my gmail and facebook. I'm not sure how to view the frequency for gmail to sync, but facebook is set up to check every hour.

Look on XDA, its free.
Also after the OTA update my battery life is about 2x worse. Before I would lose 1% overnight and now i lose about 3%. Before I could get 4hrs screen on time with 20hrs standby, and now I am at 35% with 10 hours standby and 2hrs 6min on screen on.
Going to factory reset tonight.

Do you have "ok google" enabled? If so, that will probably create a huge battery drain. Just turn that feature off.
I have to agree with crxssi, I've been using assistant for a few days and don't notice any drainage. I also don't have voice activation on.
I wish Bixby was more useful, but assistant manages my smart devices way more efficiently. Bixby doesn't understand

hello there!
I have recently purchased a brand new GW4 (3 days ago).
I never experienced any issues with the watch's battery life at all until what happened today.
Yesterday, I went out with 97% battery, used 3 exercise modes for an hour each, and returned home around 8 hours later, with around 87% of battery left!
I decided to get the Google Assistant installed and ended up side loading it because it is unfortunately not available in my region.
Went out today as well, did the same thing as yesterday, except I had Google Assistant installed (with the ok google option disabled), and returned home with 57% of battery left!!
I am really frustrated that I have to uninstall the Assistant for now, but unfortunately it doesn't seem like there's another choice to solve this problem.
If you ever find a fix for this, please do let me know as I really love the Assistant and it's sad that it drains my battery so much.
Thanks!
After the novelty of Google assistant wore off, I removed it to get the battery life back. I hardly ever use it on my phone anyway.
