Installed the leaked 2.1 update on Incredible, do I have to worry about the 2.2 updat - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Since I'm not running a stock rom will I still get the 2.2 OTA update or will I have to manually install? I planned on manually installing anyways, but I talked someone else into installing the leak and now they're worried lol
I've heard it will brick the phone because its an updated radio being installed on an updated radio? True or no?

Rooting your N1

Does rooting make it where you can't apply the newest updates to your phone such as Froyo? Thanks.
No It doesn't, although you may have to manually update the Roms. I normally use a custom rom but I upgraded to 2.2 "Froyo" the other day with no problems at all. I did manually update it though, but it is possible to upgrade to the latest rom.

actually the answer is yes/no... you need one that was tweeked for rooted users... and if your not stock you will always have to manual update... which isnt hard at all...

rooted, stock-ROM, rejected update .... what now?

OK, I rooted my t-bolt but haven't done any custom ROM flashing yet. I checked today for the s/ware update and when it found it I chose "reject" ... 2 questions..
First, will this sucker eventually push to my phone automatically via VZW?
Second, should I install another radio (and if so for what reason?). I do have some intermittent GPS weather issues (right now it says I'm in Vosu, which I think is near Finland somewhere --- I can assure you the phone is wrong) but IDK if this OTA (or leaked) update addresses that or something different.
I do plan on, one day, running a custom ROM I'm just not ready for that yet. I would update the radio though if it does something for service or whatever.
Advice, thank you.
The new radio is a piece of ****. Don't bother with it. I don't think that HTC pushes silent updates so I wouldn't worry about it. Just check your software version to make sure you're still running the stock radio.
everytime i have had a rooted phone, OTA updates did not succeed in installing itself, even if i agree to the update, and am not running custom roms
So, I guess if it asks me I'll just keep telling it 'reject' - it told me where I could find it if I needed it again, lol.
this will stop it from asking

or showing up
and the OTA is the same the leak here by jcase and radio is also same as leak so if you flashed new mecha and flased new radio in hboot and ran this buildprop
you would be up to date like the rest just rooted atleast

CM7 how do I update radio etc?

I haven't update radio, wimax or anything else sense I got my phone about a year ago. Which guide is the most up to date? Can I flash them with CM7 installed or do I need to install the Fresh rom?

VZ wants to update my phone, yey or neigh?

Folks, I keep getting annoying message on my Samsung Droid Charge, telling me to upgrade my system.
I have it rooted with Gummy and it runs very well for what I use it for.
my f/w version is 2.2.1
baseband version is i510.06 v.ee4
kernel is 2.6.32.9
Do I really need to update? also, is there any way to turn that forced VZ update to off?
if I have no choice and must update, I do need to revert to stock f/w, right? then re-install Gummy back. So what's the point in updating?
why not update to a better version ? I would backup my current rom and test the update

With some OTA updates it is possible to lose root. It happened to alot of people with updated from froyo to gingerbread, and at the time there was no root for gingerbread...so they were stuck.
Also, any update is just going to be to the stock rom. If you are rooted and using custom roms, and OTA is pointless.

2.3.6 Root questions/AOSP 2.3.x?

I have two questions...
1. I had rooted my A2 when it was 2.3.5 and deleted a few apps. When the OTA update to 2.3.6 rolled around, I couldn't update because ATT is a grouch. Anyway, to solve that problem, I had to flash stock 2.3.5 back onto the phone removing root access and everything. I then proceeded to update to 2.3.6 which is fine. that's running stock as I type this. My question is, if I root it again on 2.3.6 (I know it's there...) and I freeze apps, when another OTA update rolls around, will I be able to update again? I don't want to have to flash it back to 2.3.6...(can I even do that yet?) so any help here would be appreciated.
2. I was out and about, and was looking at one of my friend's phones. She has this HTC HD2 running Android 2.3.3 AOSP. She uses ADWLauncher, etc etc. This is a Windows Phone, originally. That got me thinking...is there a AOSP version of Gingerbread for my A2? Without Blur? I'm kinda scared to do anything to it, because I want to be able to get ICS come July. Any tips here would help.
Sorry for not using the searchbar, I was just having trouble finding this info. Thanks guys!
1. Yes. Freezing apps / removing bloat as root will almost definitely keep you from the any OTA. Its the nature of the beast. You can always return to stock and apply the updates later. Also, any major update like ICS will produce a lot of posts here about how to update from an altered rom.
2. There is development work on getting CM7 to work on our phone. Currently the only released ROM that I am aware of is lfaber06's ROM

When a major update such as ICS is released, there will be alternate ways to install such as through bootstrap. Hopefully we'll find a leaked version of ICS before that, and pull the radio get CM9 working
Okay. So I'm planning on rooting it...now...but when I flashed 2.3.5 from the fxz someone provided, it said that once you updated to 2.3.6 you could never go back...but...
I'll try it.
What's bootstrap? I've heard about it and no one has been able to dumb it down for me...could anyone do that?
You can flash the FXZ after the update. It just requires a bit of modification and care. You might want to read the noob thread. It has lots of useful info.
Bootstrap is a way to backup, restore, and flash zips before android boots.
I just rooted the 2.3.6 it's running wonderfully.
Should I install the ibfaber deoxed rom? I mean I know I can do it per instructions but is it worth it?
It depends on what you want to do. If you want to apply any themes you will need to be running the deoxed rom. He also has a supercharged rom that has a lot more customization.
