yeah i guess in a way it does. also leaves the bottom of the screen faded. This is actually a dockbar for you to drop apk into for quick finding. what Im looking for is a completely hidden app drawer button on the home screen. it used to be an option but not anymore.

I relise this is a question but it is very theme related.
I think so. Can you give more information on what you want it to do or look like?

Lol I didnt want to explain it like this because I dont want to offend the developer at all. Basicly with launcher pro (another great launcher not as good as ADW in my mind but another great launcher none the less) you can actually load your own created dock bars or dock bars someone else created. So basicly can you cusomize the lower dock bar? I know you can change it from 5 icons to 3 icons but other then that can you actually change the dock bar background?
Sorry I dont exactly know how else to explain it.
i think the best you can do is hold down the app drawer button for a few seconds and then swipe up. it'll change to an OSX style launcher bar with mini icons of whatever shortcuts you place on it. took me forever to figure it out after seeing it in the screenshots.

You can set up swipe up and down guestures too. Yeah I know about this bar I actually store my quick contacts down under there.
He's talking about the separate dock background, not the actual dock.So you have a wallpaper, and then a separate small dock wallpaper too.

I am talking about the Dock the clear bar at the bottom of the screen that holds 3 to 5 icons. Not the hidden dock underneath the dock or just the clear bar.

when i do this my dock just disappears! why? how do i get it back besides rebooting my droidx?
ADW vs. LauncherPro..... um.... keeps me up at night.
I like both devs... I like the fact ADW is open source and has themes, and sometimes I feel like using the sideways drawer. But LP has great customization options like the dock theming, and now has some really well done widgets.
Nice to have a hard time choosing between two great choices.

Set something to change it. It is possible to access it, and not have anything set to turn it off.
In the settings for ADW you can either have it close after opening an item from it, or set one of the swipe gestures to bring it up and down.

You sir just blew my mind.
Sent from me to you via the interwebs.
I actually have the opening and closing of the second dock tied to my home button. I love it. To any of you that don't know how to open the second dock, you long press the regular dock and swipe up.you'll see little up arrows when you long press pointing in the direction you should swipe. When you do that and you think it's just hiding your dock, it's not. Drag an icon that area and see what happens.

I never knew about the second dockbar in ADW. This changes almost everything layout wise for me. Also, I found a great setting under ADW. Auto close dockbar after application launch, will bring your original bar up after application launch. Pretty cool tip guys thanks alot!

I never knew about the 2nd hidden dock bar either. Sweet! That has really helped to clean up my homescreens, getting rid of most of the clutter.
Something I'm still trying to figure out on ADW though... is it possible to change the actual dock? Not the dock icons, but the dock itself. Launcher pro has a page with tons of user submitted docks you can use, was just curious if i could do this with ADW. I'm thinking there has to be a way, because I've installed some ADW themes from the market and they actually changed the dock as well... just need to figure out how without having to install a theme.
I'm also looking for a way to change the dock bar background. A work-around you can do is just apply a bar to the bottom of your wallpaper. However, this only works if you want a dockbar that is the same all the way across.
i thought i already replied to this thread. there is a complete guide on customizing the adw dock bar in the link below.

This doesn't tell you how to change the dock background; probably because you can't without a using a theme.
It is possible to change the dockbar background without changing themes...but it's not nearly as trivial as with Launcher Pro and I believe your phone must be rooted. I have succesfully used Ninjamorph to dynamically swap out the drawable resources in the ADWLauncher apk file which make-up the dock background. Unlike LauncherPro, which uses a single image as a background, the ADWLauncher background is made up of multiple images corresponding to the right, middle, and left action buttons (in both their selected and unselected forms). I was able to replicate one of my preferred LauncherPro docks by using photoshop to slice the image into its right, middle, and left components, and then injecting those images into the apk file with Ninjamorph. The end result was a dockbar identical to the LauncherPro dockbar...but it was quite a bit of effort to get there. Not very practical if you like to frequently switch your dock (though once you've broken the dock down into it's components, it's not too bad switching between them). Theoretically, it would also be possible to change the background for the hidden alternate dockbar using this approach, though I"ve not attempted this.
I too would love to see an easier way to customize the ADW Launcher dock without applying a completely new theme or resorting to using Ninjamorph. After the recent releases of ADW, that's the one remaining thing from LauncherPro that I really miss when I use ADWLauncher. Maybe that's a feature which will show up in the new "EX" version soon.
you can always just unpack the adw apk and change the png then repack/sign and push it to your phone
Does an invisible widget / icon exist that can be made to launch a user defined app?
Maybe I'm going about this wrong...
Perhaps I can add an app to my home screen and change its icon to something completely transparent?
Either way, pointers would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Sean

So basically you want an app icon on your homescreen that noone can see?
I suppose you could make a transparent app icon of the correct size, or if it wont take transparency just put a pixel in it, and use BetterCut to assign it to the app..

Essentially yes. The effect I'm looking for in the end is to press a certain part of my background image and have a particular app launch.
I'll take a look at BetterCut, thanks

Funny you mention Launcher, thats what I run and it occurred to me I can make a shortcut in it to the desired app and assign it a transparent icon.
As soon as I find a completely transparent icon, I'll be able to try it out...
get your sexting on!
maybe i missed it and if i did someone point me in the right direction but has anyone done a transparent app drawer background MOD for launcher pro?
Oh crap I was totally looking for this the other day, it looks so nice on ADB launcher.
Found solution - Enjoy!!

I wanted to do the same also - so I did a bit of investigation. Actually turned out to be pretty easy. I use GIMP 2 program. After you follow the direction below save it as a .png file with any name. Save it to a folder on your phone. Then hold down app drawer icon on phone till popup box - select change icon. Navigate to the folder where you saved the transparent icon and click on it to select it. * it is transparent so you wont "see" the icon click on the screen and it will pick it * And that's it. Enjoy! - I know I did
GIMP 2 makes it easy to create a transparent image:
1. Pull down the File menu.
2. Pick "new."
3. Click the "+" sign next to "Advanced Options."
4. Select "Transparency" from the "Fill with:" menu.
5. Click "OK."

I believe he was asking for a transparent background when you OPEN the app drawer, like ADW, not a transparent icon FOR opening the app drawer.
I want side by side pages in the app drawer like ADW. Might have to switch soon if launcher pro doesnt step it up. I tried requesting stuff on their forums but it gets overlooked.
I love the launcher pro widgets so I'm not switching to ADW anytime soon, but I would love a transparent app drawer background.
+1 interest in transparent background for the app drawer...
+5 if it still maintains the 3d perspective while being transparent!

Holy crap man did you really say that??? You know Fede release updates pretty frequently to LauncherPro right? If the side-swiping app drawer feature is missing it's either because:
- Demand for it is low
- It's not important
- It's been overlooked
- Fede just doesn't want it in LauncherPro
But to say "if Launcher Pro doesn't step it up" is a little unfair at best. To each their own but LauncherPro is awesome.
I don't want to crap up this thread so I'm out
3d/transparent sounds awesome.
I would also dig the hell out of that.
someone get a response from a dev
Posted it on their forum.
where so we can follow it and show support!
sorry
I talk to the dev alot this is a no go it would causealot of instability any other colors
i think that if it can't be transparent black is the most professional and simple look.
any explanation as to why it would cause problems? i have seen some ROMS that have included a transparent app drawer, and i'm assuming they're not releasing roms with known problems like that?
yeah other launcher have it too,, adw, dell stage, modified touchwiz
i currently use modified touchwiz and this is definetly stable and bug free with transparant app drawer...
so it's a lil odd story..
Oh man, I REEEAAAALLY really really really want this.
Ive already bought the dang paid LP version so im pretty much loyal either way.... but I will admit the clear ADW drawer ALMOST won me over before i took the LP leap.
There's GOT to be a way to do it.. just havent found it yet.
+1
3d + transparent and then there's no contest.
Yep, count me in... I'd love that in LP.

3d app drawer with a custom wallpaper is an absolute must for me as I have a custom housing in which the pattern from the housing follows onto the wallpaper so when when apple drawer opens it loses the effect and I love launcher pro so quick!!!! PLEASE HELP
The Gtab comes with a Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, etc icons installed. These arent real apps, just links to the mobile websites of theirs. Now that I installed the enhancement pack, how can I get rid of those icons that really are worthless now? I cant find anyway to uninstall them. Thanks.

I'm not sure about TnT because I use VEGAn but I'm thinking if you have ADW as your launcher maybe you can simply tap and hold the icon until your homescreen pops up and then drag and hold the icon over the trash can that will pop up until you see that ADW will say something like "Drop to Uninstall" then release the icon into the trash can?
Again I'm not sure.
Yes, just tap and hold the icon to the trash can - very easy

No,that doesn't work. The icons are in the app drawer not the homescreen. And they aren't showing up in the manage applications under settings. Its got me stumped.
There is a lot of empty space between the task switcher icon on the left and the clock on the right. Would be a perfect location for shortcuts to running apps etc.
That's a pretty good idea but as far as I know there is no way to do it unless some clever person has worked it out.

samsung has something like that on their SGT 10.1-roms... Maybe its possible to port that?
I don't find it THAT useful though...
there is a .app, something like quicklaunch, I use it with HC but can't remember the name... u should search in the market... but it's only quicklaunch, can't put shortcuts in bar

There was an application called Wizz Bar, you might be able to find it somewhere online. It allows you to press in the open space in the middle and it would open a little box over any application which you could launch from. That might work?
Here it is: Wizz Bar
I will look into Quick Launch, thanks.
It looks like Wizz Bar no longer works on ICS
