I Purchased the Premium edition of ROM Manager to support the community, this is the only paid app i downloaded, when i checked my Checkcard statement, it seems like they charged me for $3.99, then twice for $1.00
Does anyone know of any fees or something associated with this?
Thanks
Did some more digging, and it seems this is normal for google...authorizations

I was about to update some apps from the market when to my surprise, the market appeared to receive the New update with the carousel. To my understanding this version was just for devices running 2.2+? Anybody else have any ideas. Oh btw Im rrunning stock jh7

I got the new Market update and I'm still on the stock 2.1. There goes that theory.
Same here. I'm on a rooted NookColor and I got the new market fine.

I'd still like to know why I can't have my Market purchases billed to my AT$T account like I could with my Tilt 2.
Because its not affiliated in any way to at&t. Its Google's app store. Kind of like how appworld, iTunes and the palm app stores operate.

Well, the Windows Marketplace is not affiliated with AT$T (it is run by Microsoft), but they were able to bill AT$T for my purchases through them. I would get an e-mail receipt from Microsoft and then the charge would appear on my AT$T bill. I'm sure Google could do the same if they wanted to.
Carosel
I wish they hadn't have done it. The carosel slows down my phone. In fact, it STOPS my phone while the products for the carosel are loading, as if we didn't have enough things causing lags.

Yes i noticed it is a bit slower too. However, i just installed the One click lag fix and did all that and the market is now extremely fast for some reason. all the images in the carousel pop up almost instantly. I have come to enjoy it now with the lag fix.
Just noticed that I can now choose to have purchases billed to my wireless account. I bought an app about 5 minutes ago and selected to bill to my AT$T account. The phone has since been saying "Authorizing purchase..." without any confirmation, but at least the choice is now there.

Glad that you got the option you wanted. I am not sure about it my self as now ATT can add taxes to the app that is billed to them plus with the 15 min return on apps now, if att servers dont push it back within that time I see answering alot of why was I billed for these apps lol

I never paid any tax on purchases before, but that was on WinMo where the purchases went directly through Microsoft and were only billed to AT$T. I also liked having 24 hours to ask for a refund instead of just 15 minutes with Android. Oh well, can't have everything.

Are you on a stock ROM or custom ROM? I don't have this option yet. I am running auxura 2.5
Stock ROM. You should see an AT$T logo in front of the credit card logos. If so, then the option is in the drop-down box.

I may have to flash to stock to see. Lets just say that my company may be buying my apps..... maybe.

I presume carriers do not do this for free. They would be charging a percentage. This option of not having carrier bill in a reduces the overall price.

Like I said, AT$T never added anything to my purchases from Windows Marketplace and I expect they won't with Android Market. They have a vested interest in keeping us happy with our phones and if this little convenience helps with that, I'm sure they're glad to do it. Billing to the carrier account also denies the credit card company their 2.9% transaction fee.

I think what he meant is that they would take a percentage of whatever the app costs. So for example the app costed .99 then at&t would get .11 or something from that sale.

How did you get the carrier billing option??
Ok. Read an article the other day how Google wants to refurbish tthe market so more paid apps are bought....they said something about statistics google collected showed not many paid apps being installed on the phone.....
My question is, do they know if an app has only been purchased and do they know if the app is installed...I would like paid apps currently installed on phones vs paid apps currently not installed on a users phones but paid for... would be a good stat to know.

Have my TB and gave my DX to a friend to try.. made the mistake of wiping my paid apps. Mainly looking to recover Real HDMI ( friend doesn't want to pay if he doesn't have to of course. Morally speaking, a license has been bought so no harm, no foul?)
Anyway, I had heard if I use my gmail on his phone, the market will recognize bought apps in which case we can re-install them and then we can blow off mine and re-sync his gmail. Anyone have experience with this or can verify?
Thanks in advance.

My paid app always resync. The others non paid apps are a hit or miss.
Awesome, I assumed it would work as the gmail sync as well as Market is entirely separate from whom Verizon shows as the phone-holder. Just wanted to confirm, thanks.

Remember, I said the non paid ones are probably not gonna resync. At least they never do with me.

Does anyone know of a good app that would allow me to send/receive texts on my PC (via wifi/USB) from my phone? I've found two thus far, DesktopSMS and DroidMessenger, but both seem to severely limit features unless you buy them. So I guess my real question is does anyone know of an app that does this... FO FREE?
Support the devs...desktop sms is done by koush (rom manager, clockwork recovery) he deserves it!
So just buy desktop sms!

The thing is I'm a broke college student, and I hate spending money on stuff like this unless the developer truly deserves it. Sounds like this one does, however, going to buy now. Thanks for the heads up.
Check out MyPhoneExplorer in market.

^ Will do. I've already purchased a license for the app that Jimmy mentioned, but it's only a year license, which I'm not too happy about. For those looking to help support the creator of Clockworkmod, the app is called DeskSMS, and not DesktopSMS (which exists).
It's $5/year, which is probably not a lot for most of you, and I know I'll be called cheap here but I have extremely limited finances. Very good app, by the way, but I don't understand the necessity for re-purchasing it.
$5 a year is a very reasonable price for a non-battery-draining app that can send you email/gtalk messages or you can even access the web interface to. I've also used easysms which was a battery hog and only worked locally, but DeskSMS by far deserves the $5 a year (for server costs etc). You probably lose more money in change a year than that.

I fully agree will u, I am not much of a supporter of fly by night devs and apps, but the ones who deserve it I will alwaya buy if its something I will use. Koush always puts out quality stuff and aside from from chains's superuser app I think he is second as far as installs on ALMOST EVERY rooted android device.

If I had a job, then yes, $5/year wouldn't be much to worry about. However, I literally have to watch every dollar I spend. Also, I always keep my change and get it cashed in bills after I've collected a certain amount, so I see your point but it doesn't apply to me.
While using the app, I seem to be losing connection from the web interface even while the app is opened on my phone. My phone is connected to the wifi, but I still seem to lose the connection. Would you have any idea why?
install droidexplorer on your pc. connect phone to pc and go to tools/plugins/screencast.
you will have your android screen on your desktop with full functionality(everything but video)
and dosnt drain batt actually charges while usb'd to pc
you can also use your pc keyboard for all the functions including typing text.
right clicking the window on your pc rotates screen. fullscreen is better quality.lags a bit but its free
Just curious as to how my incoming calls are displaying caller ID. For example after placing an order with 1800 contacts, they had to call me to verify something and their name popped up on the caller ID. I don't have them saved in my contacts. And I also have the caller ID app disabled.
Is there some other new feature in this phone I am not aware of? Or is this some trial thing that is going to expire?
Thanks in advance
I noticed that on mine too (and I made sure NEVER to open the caller ID app as I read even opening it would trigger a free trial followed by a monthly charge without asking). Let's hope this isn't some kind of setup to charge us next month and say 'well your free trial we didn't even ask you about expired'.
That would be crappy. Glad I'm not the only one noticing it.
So I also disabled google music. I know there is this 6 month free trial of all access. Does that start from date of phone activation or can I wait until winter when I'll use it more?

As far as I'm aware you have to manually opt in to the Play Music All Access trial. Play Music itself is a free service, you can upload your own mp3s and stream them, All Access is Google's Spotify competitor and you can ignore it entirely even if you're using Play Music's other features.
i believe you can cancel the day you sign up for all access, you will still have your access for 6 months but wont be billed at 6 months.
" FREE VZW MSG: Congrats! Your new DROID gets 6 FREE months of unlimited Google Play Music All Access. To redeem, visit Go.vzw.com/music. Reply X to stop msgs"
I received this text today. Looks like I can redeem when the time is right for me.
Still no answer about caller ID though.

If it's anything like the version on my bionic as long as you don't open the caller id app never starts the trial and keeps working. If you accidentally start the trial just clear app data. Been using it for nearly 2 years without getting charged.
But they may have fixed things in the newer version.
