CricInfo
CricInfo has a mobile site - http://m.cricinfo.com/. They do an Iphone app, but nothing for WM.

If you just go to ci.plusmo.com in winmo ie set to mobile then you get a cab download which supplies push updates.

Hi
I just tried it and got it to work. Here's what I did:
Save the jad file to your storage card. Then open file explorer, navigate to where you saved it, and click on it. A prompt comes up saying 'do you wish to install this? and then after a few other prompts (asking me if I should allow it to connect, and asking my timezone) I was up and running.
It's really good.
Hope that helps!
Cheers,
Ian

Hi,
You could download Snaptu (free Java App) to JBlend. It has a very good Cricinfo tab with live scores fixtures, news etc.

Hi, there was an australian Wide World of Sports (WWOS) Cricket program which I downloaded from the market place. Might just be available here in Oz.

I think you have to make sure you go in pocket internet explorer, and make sure it is set to identify as a mobile browser. i can upload the cab if you would like, but i am not sure if that would be thought of as warez, though it is free so i doubt it.

if you could upload it that would be quality. as it is free it should not be conisdered as warez.
Also thanks for the tips Ian, flyin_fish and Lynehammike.

Quick Office Preinstalled?!

I downloaded a map of my school (going back tomorrow) in PDF form and tried to open it and quick office came up. I can't edit anything, probably due to it being a PDF, but I'm going to test a doc file and see what happens. BRB
Update: Seems to work with docs and other office files but you can't edit
I don't ever recall downloading this. I'm rooted with Cyanogen's addon that's all.

I tried, but the world was not ready for my message.
why doesn't it have an icon? I haven't had the need to use it, I'm guessing it is a read only type of app?
Mine opened a Powerpoint (.ppt) file with Quickoffice too and my device is completely stock at the moment. I don't see quickoffice in the list of apps, though.
I just installed Quickoffice from the Market then I got it on the list of apps. Since it's the free version, it has very limited functionalities.

Froyo and google chrome

I remember seeing that with FROYO we could link to Google Chrome and auto transfer files from the PC to our phone wireless over WIFI. Has anyone got this to work?

I didn't find the directions too difficult to follow...though they didn't really make it very clear that the apk needs to be registered first.
However, even though I register the app on my phone with my email address, my computer still says unregistered. Any ideas? I'm using google apps with a custom domain. It took my login, it just said it was unregistered...
Good guide EkostonS. I got it working. But uhm what's the purpose for this chrome-phone extension? It just opens up the link on the phone? Perhaps I am missing the bigger picture, haha.

[APP] IM Beejive Beta

I'm not sure if this is allowed, but since it's a direct link from beejive.com, I think it should be? I'm not actually in the beta.
http://beejive.com/android/beta/BeejiveIM.apk
If not, can a mod please delete the thread? Thanks
I might give it a try. I don't IM much these days but it's still nice to have a good client there for when you need it..
ATM i'm using the official msn messenger for android (without ads mod).
Do msn have official apps on android? What the name of the app?
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
It's called MSN Droid.
Edit: Actually I'm not too sure if that's the official app, sorry.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
still in beta and the UI is pretty good.
yet the function is rather poor.
No it's not msn droid.
It's official msn, but developed by PICA (chinese company http://www.pica.com/)
http://www.androidzoom.com/android_applications/tools/messenger_cbpe.html
I'm don't think it's available in english market, so heres a link to the apk (it is a free app, not warez) http://www.megaupload.com/?d=BALZ1U08
It is modified to remove ads (the official one has ads >_<)

Need to hide app icon in notification bar, its truly annoying.
needs work but pretty good so far...will be paying for it once it becomes available...
Nice
Seems to work pretty good. I like the ease. It does appear to be on all the time though but I've not seen a significant battery drop to warrant removing it. Really wish they would have opened the beta up for more people, I hated just downloading it but not being able to participate in bug posting.
Actually you can participate, Maybe not bugs, but fatal errors that cause the app to crash you can send email logs of when the app crashed directly to them. After the app has a force close it will ask you if you want to send the log when the app crashed to them by e-mail.

You have to rename the file to change it to .apk file. (at the moment it's named BejiveIM.apk.zip)
If you have file extensions hidden then unhide them and remove the .zip and save.
I was getting a "Timedout" and then "no client key" yesterday but the app started to work again late last night. I'm not too sure I like the size of the icon like others have said, but I do like its the most stable out of the clients I've tried without draining my battery.... much.

Agree! Reason I uninstalled after a few hours. Besides that the app icon seems larger than any of the others I have. But not being able to disable the icon in the notification bar is extremely annoying!!

I'll definitely be buying this app soon as it's out officially.
yeah this app isnt bad at all, it seems close to trillian it will come down to 5 things...
-features
-batterylife
-speed/lag between IMs
-reliable connection
-price (seems like trillian will be free)

[Q] Enable true multitasking in wp7.8

how to enable true multitasking in wp7...
as multitasking is the most essential feature of a smart phone.
I have tried the instant resume tweak but it's still useless.
whai I want is the real multitasking as in Symbian.
there is a donotkill app list in wp7 registry but can't get it to work.
so any help regarding multitasking is most welcomed....
If you explain what you need multi tasking it would be easier to help understand why background tasking is inadequate for you.
Sent from my Lumia 900 using Board Express
what I want is able to download files in background under the lockscreen
with use of cellular network only.

What exactly do you plan or intend to do? That kind of functionality is available to developers through the Background Transfer APIs. On a Windows Phone, downloading in the background (or uploading) is not very useful for most Apps. Some scenarios where it could be are Apps like Dropbox, Skydrive, Nokia Drive (offline maps and voices downloading), for example.
well you all are not understanding so let me explain using example.
what want----
suppose ucweb is open and I am downloading a 200mb file what ever extension maybe.
when download is started after some time a message comes up power saving while downloading.
and it blocks the lockscreen to come up until download is completes.
but I in meanwhile if I minimize ucweb and open other app or simply lock the screen the download is paused,
this is what I don't want.I want the download to continue even I switch app or lock the screen.
the only app I have seen who's does it is while downloading any app from marketplace...as it continues even I switch to other app or lock the screen
so I explained it in detail.now suggest me any homebrew apps or any process to do that.
I am still pretty sure this can be done. But I do not know of any app that does it simply because there is no need for it.
And even if you did download the file, the only way you can take it out is uploading it to skydrive or some other cloud storage from the app that downloaded it.
And I still see why on earth would you want to download a 200 MB file on a phone.

Exactly, remember that like it happens with iOS in Windows Phone there's no way to store files and retrieve them easily. Every app is encapsulated and cannot access other apps files.
So for example, if you download a 200mb movie it will only be available through the app and not through Zune, and probably only while the app is open.
But hey, sounds interesting. Maybe I'll write one.

why is 200mb to biggg. and please name the app you are taking about. And don't worry about the taking it out by SkyDrive or any other cloud storage as I don't need to upload in order to get files out of wp7.5. well its an app, so it definitely has to be somewhere. you can try /device>data>app, thats where user apps are, it might be there. failing that, i would download es file explorer and go the topmost folder, that contains all other folders, and search for all apk files, it probably will find it. if it dosent, search again with ispyoo as the saerch keyword, if tthat still hasnt found it use recovery to totally wipe the entire device.
or just ask the person who put it on to remove it.

It even had option to disallow certain apps, or stop apps in the target phone. Do you believe? Now all good.

Hello bro, were you able to remove it from iphone? I had no idea... may be you reset the iphone? I hope something worked for you.
so, question still remains, how do you check the program is installed or not if it is hidden?
To check if the app is installed or not (while its hidden) you should have root access in your phone. Open the root directory and system folder and search for the installed apps. In this folder you will see all the installed apps on your phone wether they are hidden or visible.
Btw these days not only the syping apps are spying on users but even the utility or gaming apps spy on users via microphone or taking screenshots of device display to collect data and show revelent ads to them.
