Thanks to Harald Mueller for staying with this. A new version has been posted that fixes wireless tether on the Aria here:
http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/detail?name=wireless_tether_2_0_5-pre3.apk&can=2&q=
It requires the patch described here:
http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/wiki/Setup_HTC_Desire_Incredible
I did not test with WEP encryption, and would not be surprised if it did not work, but mac filtering should work just fine.
Edit: Infrastructure mode and not ad-hoc mode now works with liberated_aria_R003. Encryption is also confirmed working.
I use this version with R003: wireless_tether_2_0_5-pre8.apk
And I use this bin extracted and placed into a folder called android.tether in the root of the sdcard : http://www.mediafire.com/?h4wmvi9iwdvextv
Note: The folder name MUST be exactly android.tether - and as all things Linux, it is case sensitive.
Enjoy!
Note: if you use this, please consider donating to support the project. You can find the link on the project homepage here:

Can't wait to try this in the morning!
Thanks!

I used the following instructions to set up an ad hoc network connection in Ubuntu 10.04 which enabled an Internet connection from the phone (you need to enable the wifi and 3g connections on the phone, of course.)
The source is "ubuntugeek" and the title is "creating-an-ad-hoc-host-with-ubuntu"
The download speeds was 3.0 Mbps which was remarkable (it was the middle of the night when I ran the test).
I have not tested the "range" of the connection and will try connectivity in Win7 tomorrow. Could use an unlimited data plan!

Yeah if someone could just upload that one file that would be great. That way everyone won't have to download an entire Evo system dump just for one small file.
Here is the file you are all looking for. It has already been renamed and ready to copy to the SD card. Just unrar it and you should be all set.
yeahhh,,, working great.... thanks.....
Ok so got it working, and I am sending this from it right now. HAHAHA! Anyway, I ran into a problem, but it has been fixed. You have to have the Evo bin file to get it to work. I originally just ripped my own file off of the system in file manager and it was bust. The log showed it accessing it, but no joy. Then I saw someone post the Evo file and now works no problem.
Thanks.

Works like a charm!!!
This is awesome!!!
Note: I didnt mount the sdcard from recovery nor access adb shell and mkdir /sdcard/android.tether
I just used windows explorer and created new folder on sd card where I unzipped the rar file. It works regardless.
Thanks everyone, this phone be on its way to being a USB host at this point due to the talented dev team!!!!
Awesome, thank you. It works like a charm. Speed could be better, but that's probably just my network.
Just wanted to say that I tried to do this a couple weeks ago when I found that fix, but it didn't work at the time. I guess they did an update to the wireless tether app, and that, along with the firmware fix, got wireless tethering working on my rooted Aria.
It's somewhat slower than I was hoping for, but it works.
-edited to add-
I enabled WEP encryption, changed the key, and it still works just fine, not that WEP really provides any sort of protection, but at least it works.

I have successfully ported cyanogenmod 4.2.15.1 to my mytouch 1.2 (LE), just thought i would share, the port is fully stable the only thing thats
not working is tethering, touchscreen works, headjack, video, etc. you must flash 1.6 DRC83 base defanged before flashing the port, you should

It should. Give it a try and let us all know.
I haven't tried this app, but per the first post, I assume all it's doing is downloading the latest ephemeris (or gps assist) data for your region. If that's the case, there are a couple of GPS apps in the market (GPS Status is the one I use) that have the option to download that data. This one looks nice and simple, though, the others are full blown apps with a lot of stuff you won't use.
I installed on my motorola milestone, but it wasn't no response.

Hey all, I know this is old but I couldn't find the honeycomb bootanimation in these forums. I wanted it to fully complete my honeycomb theme for CM7, and after some digging around I managed to find it on another forum.
EDIT:As per request, I've made a few flashable zips for this bootanimation. I've tested each out and they should work if your using CWM3, sorry about the previous posting of flashable zip that didn't work! I've corrected the mistake and hope that you all enjoy this animation as much as I do.
If you haven't completely read this thread and are new to the rooting 'scene' each rom is different, the animations can be placed into different places depending on what your running be it /data/local/ , /system/media/ , or /system/customize/resource/ . It's up to YOU to know where it belongs as I've made each zip for each location. If you don't know where it belongs, get to reading your roms thread in the Dev section and see if there is any information there.
And remember.. NANDROID first!! I will not be held responsible for anything happening to your phone or life because of this. Although if the flash fails you'll either be left with your original animation or a black screen. I'd much rather you use Root Explorer or some other file manager with root access to do this so you'll know where to place the bootanimation.zip in the future.. but thats completely up to you.
Enjoy and let me know if this works/doesn't work and I'll do my best to help you- I'm not a serious developer nor will I take the title of devoloper as I only have a basic understanding of code and how the android system works.
Anyone want to make this a flashable zip? I would be eternally greatful! Also what are the dimensions on this guy? Fit an incredible screen?
Yup I have it running on mine and it looks GORGEOUS.

I've tried other apps that say root explorer, but couldn't get them to work. They might work but I bought root explorer, easy and well worth the money. On two different roms i've used you have to place the zip in system \customize\resource and name it exactly like the existing bootanimation. Same with audio. Example VZW_bootanimation.zip just rename original adding (.bak) incase you need to go back.

Here is the link for the newest Market, Version 3.3.11. It brings a lot of new options, like All Apps Auto-Update, or update only by WiFi. I've confirmed that I can purchase apps, and this (edit: should) install over your existing Market with no issues.

Please note that this has been known to function improperly on Honeycomb. Tip: Clear data on the new market before opening it. This seems to resolve some Force Close issues for some.

If a direct install didn't work, here's a work around process:
1. Download the file from above ( Market-3.3.11.apk) to your SD card.
2. In Root Explorer, find the file you just downloaded and copy it.
3. Move it to /system/app and hit the R/W button to enable writing privileges, then paste the file.
4. Find Vending.apk and rename it to something like Vending.apk1.
5. Long press on Market-3.3.11.apk and rename it to Vending.apk.
6. Afterwards, long press on it again and choose“"Permissions".”
7. Change the permissions to this:
8. Press“"OK", reboot your phone, and enjoy the new market.
For Apps not showing in Market, do the following:
While in Titanium Backup, press Menu, Market Tools, then Market Doctor. Select the Apps you want to reconnect to the Market.
Alternatively, you can search for the App in Market, then simply Uninstall, then Reinstall. You can then restore the App data with TB.

Thanks for posting this! For some reason, I can never get it to install correctly the other way. I rename the existing Vending.apk to Vending.apk.old and copy over the new one and reboot but it never shows up as installed for me. Don't know what I'm doing wrong.
Anyway, thanks.
Good evening everyone, first of all, I wanna thank all the great devs we have @ XDA.com for all the great things they brought us which made our devices awesome..(more than they are already )..
Let me first talk about the problem and why its happening.... After few Trail and error during the use of ICS Roms, I found out that (also did find after few online searching) Android ICS detects your SIM card region (EN, US, AU, UK etc.) and stores it into some sort of Database file, which has all your Carrier info in it. To put it short, if your SIM card (Carrier) is not from -US or UK- u might go into some Wi-fi Problems!!! This is happening because Android ICS, disables Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Functions upon inserting any SIM card not from US or UK.
# Update 1 #
If you're using Firmware 3.24 ~3.25+ u dont have to push any file to system/bin or /binx. Just install Sicript manager and run the script and you're good to go
# Update 2#
There is an APK that has been released to fix that issue in ICS roms, please check the following thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1445766
So to fix this, you will have to follow the following steps:
1- Download the files in Attachment ( wifi fix files.zip ).
2- Extract the folder inside to the root of your SD card.
3- Install Root Explorer and Script Manager ( Included In attachment *Free versions* ).
4- Using Root Explorer, go to wifi fix files folder and copy (sqlite3).

5- Navigate to System folder.
6- Set system/ R/W .. Past+Replace (sqlite3) it in this two locations
- System/Bin
- System/xbin
*Set permissions for sqlite3 in both locations as follow:
7- Go and Open Script Manager now, and navigate to the folder wifi fix files, and click on ali.txt .
*Set the options as follow
8- now hit run, you should get the following result.
Sucess, now you can use Wi-Fi again with any SIM card
* A side note, after you reboot your phone, you will have to run the script again, but if u had your Wi-Fi enabled before you reboot, u will have problems, so turn W-Fi off, and reboot. then once your devices wakes up and enters lock screen, leave it there till you get signal from your Carrier, and then unlock your lock screen, and script manager should automatically run the script for you. If you dont see that script manager have been Granted superuser permissions after you unlock your screen, just go to script manager and rerun the script, and viola! you can enable Wifi again.
Cheers Fellow Flash Maniacs!
You can also set the option on network change "Net". This way there is no need to reboot, you just turn wifi off then on & it will work without having to reboot again.
Also, it would be a good idea to give credit to who made the script or link to it.
Thanks for the tip bro. it helped me fix the reboot step for ever
maybe developers can put this in their roms? or maybe there is another solution to this prob
Its a general ics issue, gotta wait Google to fix it maybe

Probably u need to flash a better Radio/Hboot or maybe its kernel related. make sure to check ICS problems and fixs thread
Unless you got permission to post Root Explorer, it is unlicensed. Not sure the dev would appreciate that.
Root explorer is a free app, so I just posted it to make it easier for people to use the guide. But if there is a problem even with free apps, ill delete it with no problem: )

Root explorer is not a free app! Free app is Explorer from Speed Software.

Ok, after double checking its a paid app, my bad, ill remove it. although i downloaded it from 1mobile market, and they uslally only have free apps. my apologies to the devs of the app!
I saw on HD2 section, a new fix for This wifi problem, which maybe devs can port and implement into their roms, I hope someone can use this to fix up the problem.
Its in this ROM thread:

>> "Downgraded the BCM4329 firmware from v4.218.248.23 to v4.218.248.18 for better WiFi compatibility for some SIM card related country code issue."

It didn't work for me.
The final result from this is, the Wi-Fi is stuck at "Turning Wi-Fi on...".
Also, there was no file to replace in the system/bin directory.

You dont have to place anyfile anymore, If you have the latest leak, 3.25, all you have to do is run the script from Script manager, and u will have wifi working.
