What earphones/headphones are you using for your N1? - Nexus One Accessories

I have a Soundmagic PL-30 for music...I know it's nothing spectacular, but it's good for the money
I'm looking to upgrade though, might want to hear what other users are using

Beats by Dre (Tour w/ controltalk)

I use AKG K390NC

er, are you just looking for headphone suggestions? Same as any other PMP?
I use Sennheiser CX300, cheap enough on Amazon (** below) but amazingly better than my previous pair, but my next pair I'll go ahead and spend a little more I think. These are really the low end of the mid-range. They spend 98% of their time in my Creative Zen, but hey, I've used 'em on the N1 a time or two.
** Be very careful buying headphones anywhere, there are tons of fakes out there. If you buy 'em on Amazon for example, only buy them from Amazon, ie: Amazon LLC is the seller. At least that way you'll have a better chance of them being real and returning them if they are not. Do research into any set of headphones, but also research the fakes so you can identify if yours are fake when you receive them!

I'm using Ultimate Ears SuperFi but I really love Monter Beats Solo

I just bought some Sony's that have the track control and they're really comfortable and have better bass then the included ones.
Sony MDR-EX38iP
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-MDREX38iP-BLK-Earbud-Control/dp/B002M78JA2
$32.29
Volume doesn't work... but gets the job done.

Stock headphones for working out or when I am on a call.
Etymotic Research ER-4 for when I care about audio quality a little bit, but not enough to use my real cans or my home system.

I am using the Motorola s305 very confortable, the keys all work and they sound pretty good.
http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-S305-Bluetooth-Stereo-Headset/dp/B002BH3I9U

I'm using Monster Turbines and JAYS q-JAYS. The Turbines sound a little better on the N1 most of the times cause the bass can be a little weak with the q-JAYS since there's no EQ to adjust it.

Klipsch
Klipsch Image S4 I use them exclusively, and they were well worth every penny!

I have the Ultimate Ears triplefi 10Vi. these sound awesome and have a mic too..
also the mute button on the wire allows skipping tracks

I know I'm a heretic but iphone earphones with mic,
Work great straight out the box

These are combined stereo headphones and speakers over Bluetooth.

sennheiser HD 420
sennheiser HD 420.
It's really amazing how well the Nexus One fairs against it's competitors (namely the stinking iPhone), in terms of sound quality.
My Phone
Nexus One
CyanogenMod-6.0.0 RC1

I'm using the Nokia BH-503. Excellent call quality, awesome battery life (takes 45 mins to charge and lasts for about 12 hours non stop), great range and nice sound quality. The mid-ranges are a bit over powered but its not too bad.

Thanks for the tip. I checked out some reviews of them and they don't look bad. After my Shure SCL4's starting having issues I've been looking for jogging headphones. Figured for $25 I can't go wrong.

Anyone using the in-ear ones or the headphones with their Nexus? If so please leave me your feedback... I'm looking to buy a set today and don't care about the microphone.

are you using the in-ears or the over the head headphones? curious to know if the noise cancelling on them is noticable and is the volume louder than oem htc earphones?
bought the Monster Beats by Dre (Tour/in-ear with Control Talk) from the Apple store last week and I absolutely love them. They are replacing my old Apple in-ear headphones. Bass is sweet with no distortion. Mids and highs are spot on. Haven't yet tried them with the N1, been using them with my iPt. Not sure if the in-line remote controls/mic will work with the N1 but I will test them out sometime.

cool good to hear, let me know how they sound on the N1 and if the microphone actually works too! thanks man.
The beats are pretty good but way overpriced. Either way the output of the nexus one isn't great for audio and anything too good is a bit of a waste. Try going to head-fi to read up on iems before you buy.
Is the compatibility a hardware or software issue? Could some code be written or changed to make them work 100%?
I have the monster beats over the ears head phones. The big ones. They work perfectly fine. Also they come with the adapted to use with your nexus one which works fine. I like them a lot.
been using the in ear with control talk and they are the best headphones i have ever owned.
I have the bose quiet comfort 3 and the beats by dre top them out in quality.
Got mine for 80 bucks of craiglist brand new
used the Studio beats, they were awesome. just too big to carry around at times. so I got the klipsch s4i's. Awesome headset. ~100 but well worth it. check the cnet reviews, they're highly rated. lets me answer calls as well.
I know this thread is old... But check out Head-Fi.org when it comes to headphones.
I'd be very surprised if the Dre headphones are anything but overpriced. At first glance, it seems like my assumption is correct via my first couple threads when searching Dre Beats.

The best headphones for smart phones are the: -
Etymotic HF2 High Fidelity Headphones
I've read the stuff on Head-fi but I still decided to buy a pair of Solo's. Why? Because I like them. I really like the looks and I think sound quality is pretty decent too. Furthermore I think they are one of the most comfortable headphones out there, which is pretty important to me too.
Of course, the fact that some people on Head-fi are not too enthousiastic about these headphones might say something. So maybe they are not the perfect headphones price/quality wise, but let's not exaggerate. For example, there are a lot of people out there that have a positive opinion about these headphones too.
What happens on forums is that in the end, if there are enough people saying bad things about something, other people will either just copycat their opinion without taking the time to develop their own opinion, or they will be influenced by these opinions while developing their own.
My 2 cents.
Now, does this Control Talk feature works on any HTC android phone??
I have had the beats over the ear for around a year now. I looked up a couple reviews and they were onsale so i took the leap.
in retrospec after doing more research and finding out about head-fi i would not buy them again.
they sound great and feel great. the "noise cancelation" is nothing to write home about. I also find it VERY annoying that the headphones cannot even work without the 2 AAA batteries in them. I use them alot for xbox with an astro mixamp and its very annoying to head over to a friends only to find out your headphones die 5 minutes into a match of your favorite game.
hooked up to my nexus they sound great, with a decent headphone amp they sound even better of course. no one buys a phone expecting to output the requires wattage.
prior to purchasing these cans i had not had much experiance over a few "high end" gaming headsets and your typical mid range dj headphones/ in ear buds and i was blown away by these. I was and still am very happy with my purchase, however i realize that for the money i could have got even better.

My thoughts exactly. Avoid BOSE or Monster if you want value for money, they are all marketing (think Apple).
I'v been using UE triple.fi 10vi for a while now..
There's no going back once you hear these babies
Get a pair of Futuresonic Atrio's, you probably never heard of them but they are the industry leader in IEM's for Concert's/bands/live performers. Great low frequency response and warm accurate highs; review. For <$200 they can't be touched by any other IEM on the market.
EDIT: Wanted to add that anything with the name Monster on it is way overpriced.
Images s4
I have listened to a few of the Beats line headphones... and they sound quite good overall. But as for in-ears I went with the Klipsch Image S4's they are amazing earbuds, and I paid like 40 bucks for one!

Good to hear the headset part works on the N1! I use these with my iPhone, and the call answer button is very convenient. I was a little bit worried it'd go to waste when my N1 arrives.

Klipsch Promedia In-Ear Headphones

I just bought these babies for the Sensation to replace the crappy stock headphones. The difference is just truly night and day. The soundstage is staggering, the bass is clean and not too overpowering (it complements the mids nicely), the mids warm, the highs are crisp. Overall, the headphones are really balanced with a slight emphasis on bass that fits my appeal perfectly.
It also comes with: extra ear fittings, an audio/mic splitter, a small black travel pouch, and a microphone which I haven't tested yet.
Ultimately, this headphones is a steal at $34.99. Superb value. Highly recommended.

I saw them selling locally at Compusa, something tells me they are the same S4 with just the outside ans controls being different.
I own the S4 and god, the sound is impressive. Perfect for listening to all my Black Sabbath FLAC albums.
mic working?
can you post something once you've tried the mic? I can't seem to find a definitive answer on whether or not the mic works on android phones. thanks.
works with mic also if you download Headset Button app you can also increase volume change track answer end call and mute mic same specs as Klipsch s4 and Klipsch s5

I don't understand about all the fuzz around the Klipsch S4. There are so many review saying how good it is and it's a must buy. And when I bought it, I was very disappointed on the sound quality. I mean I can see why people like it so much, because the bass is pretty good and it's comfortable with good isolations. But I find it lacking mids and highs. I keep the headphone anyways hoping burnt-ins will help, but it didn't even after half a year. I now own the HiFiMan RE-0 and very satisfied with it.
The RE-0s are very neutral and a lot of people like them for that reason. I usually recommend those to people who don't like the S4s, and they're usually pretty happy with it

Yes!! Neutral! That's the word i was looking for. It's the same thing with the Audio Technica M50. So many good reviews, and yet i hated it. I bought the Audio Technica AD700 for movies and games, but i find myself using it for music much more often than the M50. Now I know what to look for when shopping for a headphone. Neutral!
Damn... shipping costs to the netherlands are 60$... not so cheap anymore
Thanks for the review! I saw this add on Black Friday, but was hesitant because I once read that companies sometimes try to make products that look the same so the consumer will think that they are re packaged, even though the hardware inside is much cheaper.
Hi,
Anybody have tried Klipch s4a for andriod phone? does it mic work with sensation?
Is this Klipsch Promedia is same as s4?
Works just fine here using the s4a
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
Yeah guys, my promedia's mic works with androids
and... the mic is clear and good enough. It's as good as my standalone logitech clip on
I got the s4a and I absolutely love them. The app you use with them is slow on the pick up when it comes to pressing the button, but they sound great and the mic works very well on the Sensation.
Much better than Beats in my opinion.

+2 I have owned the crossfades LPs for years and still one of my favorite. They come with two cords, one with a phone/mic and one without. The phone cord is made for apple devices, but if you use an app like jays headset control, you can control your phone with the center answer/end button to control stuff like volume and next and prev track, and of course pause and resume.
They have since released the Crossfades LP2, which are a bit better, but I cannot tell much of a difference. Also they have the Crossfades M80s, which look exactly like the crossfades but are on-ear other than over the ear like the LPs are.
Ok, more importantly HOW DO THEY SOUND?!? lol...well they are freakin awesome. Why? Because when listening to music and even watching movies with these guys, you get stereo surround sound that rivals Bose systems. The bass is there, but not over bearing. But if clarity is what you want with a side of bass when it's there and need it, these are it.
How much? Well you can find the LPs under $200 easy, because of the M80 and LP2's being the newer releases. I got mine for $85 bux because no one knew much of v-moda at the time of initial release of the crossfades. The HUGE selling point for me is the cool a$$ exo-skeleton case that it comes with it. I used it on my trip to Hawaii and other plane trips clipped to my carry on without an issue. The case is quarter of the price in my book.
A bit cheaper than that, my second fav at this point are the SOL Republic HD lines. I have both the AMPS HD (earbuds) and Tracks HD (on the ear) headsets.
Both are great. I use the earbuds for portability. These are on the bassy side but still clear. Not as clear as the crossfades IMO, but still a great earbud system. Again these are made for apple products but using the app mentioned before, I can use the center button to operate the phone to my specs. Retail is $100, but I got them for $85 as well.
The Tracks HD...not as portable but I try to lug it with me on car trips whenever I can. These are AWESOME. The clear and hard hitting bass (a bit on the bassy side, but that's my pref) are on par with the $300 plus headphones out there. Just use the equalizer to match your preference and you are golden. The headband is virtually indestructible, the drivers are detachable and the cords are detachable as well. This is made to mix and match different color headbands, drivers, cords, etc...(see fashion) Again has the same issue of being for apple products. Retail on these are $130 but I got them for $87 bux.

These are amazing headphones. The people over at head-fi.org would also agree. http://www.head-fi.org/products/category/over-ear
I should say, if you want it wireless, you should try the sony ericsson MW600 (bluetooth stereo headset), really good quality, both for sound as the product itself.

We are all entitled to our own opinions . But poor isolation? Well, of course, because they are not over the ear, but they do do well for on-ear. Poor tremble? I can say they are not the greatest, for retail of 130, I never expected to be. Because of my low expectations on these headsets, the surprise was with the equalizer's ability to correct the problem. But again, it's on man's opinion.
I admit I haven't even tried seinnheiser brand yet, because the styles never appealed to me. I have a somewhat small head and with these headphones, it looks like I'm calling the space shuttle. LOL And the wires are like 10ft long! I can't see how one can use these type of headphone other than sitting on an airplane or train for more than 3 hours. Because I know I will tangle up those suckers lol.
As for the OP, you gotta go and test them out yourself. There are a few great recommendations here for you to start off on. GL

Not sure, but the ones I use are intended for iphones for the most part.
Players that play FLAC files are poweramp, winamp and playerpro.
V Moda M-80. One of the best portables around.
In fact I suggest them over the Crossfade LPs/LP2s. I'm on the Head-Fi forums and the Crossfades are considered to be moderately Beats-like in the way that they are overly bassy and the mids/highs suffer. The M-80s are considered more to be audiophile headphones in that they have great bass but also good mids and highs.
V-Moda is also coming out with M-100s around July, which will be circumaural (around ear, unlike how the M-80s are on ear) headphones that will be their new top of the line. They're supposed to have a similar sound signature to the M-80s (so great balance) but with even better bass without ruining mids/highs. Then again, those are going to be $300, so I suggest getting the M-80s. V-Moda just started selling gorgeous white M-80s, you might want to jump on that if they still have some left.
Edit: if the M-80s are too much, you should check out the V-80s. Identical to the M-80s but with HBO True Blood branding and more red on the design. The V-80s are usually cheaper even though they are identical, just because of the branding.
I'm currently using Etymotic HF2. Got them for I believe $110. Here is a link to their site:
http://www.etymotic.com/ephp/hf2.html
They work really well and deliver a great neutral sound, so if you are into adding EQ , it won't be offset by EQ already present in some headphones. Superb isolation. Almost too good. The button works well with players like Player Pro. You can also program the headset button with an app from the play store.
I highly recommend.
Edit - Just saw this post is more for headphones than earphones. In that case I recommend AKG K271s for a closed phones or AKG K702 for an open phone. The K702s need a better amp though to power them.
There are some good suggestions here - Ultimate Ears, Etymonics etc - Very good cans. I personally run a pair of Grado Alessandro MS-1's (they're a Grado set of cans that were altered by Alessandro and came out super good for a better price than the equivalent Grado line) - They are an incredible pair of cans for the price. Not flat, but some of the most fun headphones i've listened to. even better with a bit of quality ripper FLAC and a nice Amp - but they run a charm on the Google music app on my sensation for travel!
Definitely can suggest the Audio Technica M50s
senheiser 205, here it costs 33.00 euro
otherwise idk

Of course not.
This is why if you respect your ears and decide to use your phone as music playback device, you need to get an amp like a CMoy or Fiio E11.

Headphones that compliment HTC One S

Anyone have any information on the sound chip that's inside of our HTC One S?
I'd like to buy a pair of headphones that compliment the audio features of my phone. Preferably "ear buds" "behind the neck" or "clip-on" models.
Mm apparently htc says beats headphones, I got some sounds good but cheap headphones (stock iPhone) sound good
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using Tapatalk 2
I wouldnt want to waste money on a pair of headphones that the phone cannot drive to its full potential. So pretty much just looking for a pair thats an even match against with the phone can put out. Knowaddumsayin?
I don't think anyone can answer that without knowing your price range. For in ear, I'm partial to Etymotics.
Personally, I don't think the htc one s can make magic happen out of anything over $100 lol. So probably between 60-100.
The Beats technology inside is primarily tuned for the urBeats and Solo (not HD) (you select them in the sound enhancer menu), if it's what you are talking about.
But to be honest, I don't think you need "beats" headphones to get the "Beats improvements". I would say that any pair of headphones that can deliver high power and bass can do it.

The beats headphones are good, but not worth the price tag. All they are, are fancy headphones which look cool, inside, they have the same parts as your basic headphones,
Beats Audio is just a preset EQ..
However, I like beats and i got beats headphones free with the phone.. but i most certainly wouldnt pay for them, The stock headphones work just as well.
I recommend Me electronics headphones, fantastic for the price and awesome customer service.they have many styles and qualities and get very good reviews depending on the headphone. Go to headfi for reviews based on price range.
Yea I pretty much agree with anyone here I use basic in ear skull candy headphones I got last black Friday for 10 bucks and they sound the same as when I plug in my cousins beats which he paid 79.99 for

I have a pair of Sony in ear headphones. Found them at Bestbuy for 40 USD. They have real rich sound and work great with the Beats Audio plugin. They also have an in-line microphone and play/pause forward/back answer/hangup buttons that all work on our device. I will try to find a link if you are still interested.
Keep in mind these have a real good quality if you want something kind of budget, they can definitely compare to my friends in ear Bose at 99 USD.
You can also get the best sound ever by using a 3rd party music app called PowerAMP. This gives you a crazy amount of control of EQ, bass, treble, stereo x and much more. As an audiophile I cannot live without it
Not sure where you live but the bestbuy where I live has headphones on display and you can pop the jack into your phone and test drive for yourself. I found some Sony studio style headphones for 149 that sounded better than the 299 ones. Plus some skull candy's for 129 that sounded even better. I know your price range, just saying price isn't all its cracked up to be when it comes to headphones. Plus if you know any audiophiles or DJs they will tell you beats headphones aren't worth any price they sell them for.

I have a set of Sennheiser PX100s. Luckily I got them a few years ago when they were cheap; looks like they've since been discontinued and have gone up in price. But I like them. I can't stand earbuds, I've never found a single set that stays in my ears. The PX100s are headband-style and they fold up flat. And they have good sound.
Also heard good things about Koss PortaPros, another under $50 portable headband set. Despite being over the head style, both these sets are small and compact so they won't make you look TOO weird if you're wearing them in public, although they might mess your hair up a bit if you're not careful.

As an audiophile I cannot live without it

or at least some part number.
I am using the headphones that came with my Samsung Vibrant, but the button on them doesn't control the phone like it did on my Vibrant. I am looking for a set with a button that will pause my music and also click to answer/hangup calls.
I just have a pair of $13 headphones, which come with foam tips and sounds pretty good.

Second vote for Etymotic!
I have found anything from monoprice.com to be amazing...their $2 iphone knockoffs sound better than any buds I've gotten with any phone and their $5 in-ears are even better. There are devoted communities of hackers who use their bass boost models as project phones and many audiophiles rate their over the ear models higher than phones costing 5 times more.
I know you guys are talking in the ear--
But, I have a pair of Plantronics Pulsar 590E over the ear Bluetooth headphones that have good range and nice bass.
I don't know how beats works, but no change in sound quality with it on or off--

Headphones

I'm looking for a set of headphones within the $100-$150 range. I have looked around many forum discussions and finally decided on getting the Audio-Technica ATH-M50. However before I buy it I'm having second thoughts.. I have an HTC One S with beats integrated (obviously) and listen to mainly rap/hip hop, but occasionally rock also. I was wondering whether if I should go with the beats used or go with the M50? M50 I heard was better but us more focused on the complete sound of the song and more suited for songs other than rap/hip hop. Whereas I like my bass relatively heavy in my songs. Which beats provide since that's kinda their selling point. Also does beats for my phone have any distinctly different effect on the two headphones or does it just boost the bass of the song? Also I heard that Beats have noise-canceling technology which sounds really appealing, but my question to you is the feature worth over the M50's? Any thoughts are appreciated

I have the in-ear Monster iSport immersion headphones and I am more than happy with the sound, really pro sound from in ear headphones, I was surprised with the bass they produce. Music is crisp and loud even in max volume, no need to use it over 70-80% though since the noice cancellation is adequate.

The M50's are a very nice set and would certainly sound better than Beats, but you might consider where you are going to be listening. They are a set more geared toward home/studio. While the closed headphones are great for being able to ignore the outside noises of everyday travel and not disturb the people around you with your music, you might consider the fact that for safety reasons you might not want to be unable to hear horns/sirens/shouting while walking around. You wouldn't have to worry at all about quality with that set though as long as you are okay with closed headphones in general.
I have a set of Beats Solo HD on sale on eBay. They worked very well with Beats for me and have amazing bass. The only thing is you need an equalizer app to turn up mids and highs when playing rock or alternative. They're going cheap if you wanna check em here http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewitem?itemId=181053072394&index=0&nav=SEARCH&nid=60174087912
The Beats have great bass but if you want richer sound I'd suggest another brand.

good bass
I have a pair of Sennheiser PX100's, they are pretty amazing for the price. They have great bass, good highs, but the best part is the price is about $40. Unfortunately you cant really buy them anywhere, they have been replaced by the PX100-II, and I cant speak to those. So if you can find a pair for about $40, I would definately buy them.

I heard a lot about Sennheiser. They're supposed to be a real good company for headphones

As with any company there are good and bad models for what you want. I love my Sennheiser hd280 pro's, but they don't have overpowering bass like other models. I was more concerned with sound blocking and clear sounds. You really have to read reviews and test headphones out in the stores (with your own device/music) if you want something great.
The Beats EQ works with anything you plugin. Beats boosts bass a decent amount with a little boost in treble.
I'd check out head-fi's website and ask around there, be sure to be specific about your taste.
I personally took their $30 recommendation for IEMs and went with a Meelectronic M31. Never looked back, works wonders with the phone and every genre of music sounds great.
Hope I helped,
Happy New Years!

To Closed Search Project,
Thanks for the offer. But I did go and buy the M50's, as I would use it for the rich sound and in the indoor environment. I appreciate the help and I'm sure anyone reading would probably take you up on that offer!
Happy New Years!

Assuming he's from US, ours didn't come with any headphones.
I have some beats studio in white and some audiotechnica ATH-M50's in white and I'll I can say is the ATH-M50's are better with any music, in any situation, and in every way.
EDIT: unless you're looking for a necklace that also emits sound, then I'd go with the beats.

Headphones for the money: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?p_id=8323
Hands down. A/B'd them against my Sennheiser HD280pro, and for everyday listening or gaming, I'd go with the Monoprice. Clear but not overpowering bass, good highs.
Fantastic presence. The HD280pro have a little more transparency in the sound, but you can't beat the Monoprice 8323s in the <$100 price bracket. There's just no competition.
Everything from dubstep to Diana Krall was gorgeous on these puppies.
Don't know what the $ price is, but can recommend sennheiser HD 25-1 II
I use the Soul SL99's, they sound great, I love the clarity all around and a good thumpy bass. I am looking for something better so I'm also checking this thread for some good suggestions under 100 bucks.
I use sennheiser HD 280 pros. I bought my pair 9 years ago and I've used them every day. I don't use speakers ever so I've litterally used them every day. Yesterday they finally broke and guess what? I'm buying another pair this week. They were $299 way back then, but they're only $100 now.
Highly recommend them!

Check out the razer electra i got em and they are amazing!
I normally take hifi magazine reviews with a pinch of salt but the Soundmagic E-10 IEDs got pretty good reviews from users too, so I splashed out a very reasonable £30 or so for a pair. It took a while to get them to fit correctly in my ear but the results are very good indeed, especially for the price.
I thought I had bought a lemon when I first tried them, but fitting the correct ear bud is vital for good sound from IEDs. When I use 'over the ear' headphones (usually at home) I use Sennheiser HD280s.
