USB tethering Sprint Touch Pro 2 running the stock WM 6.5 Rom - Touch Pro2 CDMA

Alrite fellas, I know there are a ton of threads on how to tether via USB using ICS. I think I finally got the proper way to stealth tether/connect using ICS. In my case, I wasn't able to find anybody who had all the exact correct steps. I followed a few of the steps that PPCGeeks forum member "Boo Boo" posted. However, several steps were missing. The following steps will work for TP2 users who are using the stock 6.5 Sprint Rom:
1) Install DotFred's TaskManager. After install, start the program and go to the "Services" tab. Find "CM Guardian", click and hold it and then press stop. Once again, click and hold "CMGuardian" and select "Set Manual". Exit out of the program.
Soft Reset
2) Install the ICS_and_WModem_Fix cab that is attatched below.
3) Using a Registry Editor, edit the following:
Delete the "isext.dll" entry located here:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing]
Extension="isexy.dll"
Change ForceCellConnection to Sprint, if it is not already done so:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing\settings]
ForceCellConnection="Sprint"
You may have to create this DWORD entry if it is not already there:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing]
MaxCMCon=0
I didn't need to make any changes here as it was already done. But you might have to:
[HKLM\Services\CMGuaridan]
Flags = 4 (it's a DWORD Value. if it doesn't exist. you need to create it)
Change the following if needed. If you are missing some of these entries, don't worry. There is no need to create them:
[HKLM\Software\OEM\WModem]
CheckProfile = 0
Multi-NAI = 0
WModemDUN = 0
[HKCU\Software\Microsoft\InternetSharing]
LastCellConnection = Sprint
Soft Reset
4) Then go into the Windows directory on your phone using a File Explorer and make a backup copy of the IntShr.exe file and save it to another directory. This will be your backup to save just in case you have any problems in the future.
Then go back to the Windows directory and make a copy of IntShrUI.exe. Save it to another directory. Then rename the IntShrUI.exe copied file to IntShr.exe . Copy that file and place it back into the Windows directory. A prompt will pop up asking if you want to overwrite the existing file. Select "Overwrite." You will get a message stating that this is a ROM file and it is dangerous blah blah. Ignore that. The reason to do all of this is because the original IntShr.exe is not protected against tethering and doesn't offer the Sprint/Phone As Modem option. This is what I mean:

}
That is also the same file that pops up when you select Internet Sharing whenever you connect your phone to your PC using USB. You don't want that. BY making these changes, now every time you connect your phone to your PC via USB, and you select Internet Sharing, it will start up the correct ICS file. This is the screen you want popping up:
Now, Reboot.
5) You should make sure to turn "Data Connection" on in the Comm Manager. Connect your phone via USB cable to your PC. When the selection screen pops up on your phone (ActiveSync, Disk Drive, Internet Sharing), make sure to select Internet Sharing.
Select Sprint under type of connection, if it is not already selected.
Hit Connect In the Internet Sharing application, although it may connect automatically.
6) You're done. I know that's quite a few steps, but this was the way that it fully worked for me. If you want Wi-Fi tethering, you can install one of the numerous Wi-Fi cabs that are floating around. But do so after you finish these steps. Hope this can help someone out and sorry for beating a dead horse.

Network connection only shows "None"
Hi ,
I executed all the steps mentioned in the thread in sequence. Now only option "none" is shown under network in the ICS screen. And the connect option is disabled.

you need to learn how to properly give credit..
first, YOU didnt figure out anything.. everything you have up there has been posted and reposted 100s of times..
"your cab" is from Mighty Mikes essential cabs thread on PPCGEEKS..
when you quote other peoples work, you need to link threads to the original posts

Easy there Anger Boy... You might wanna get off your little pedestal there for a moment. If you took time to actually read my post, you would notice that I stated that there are a ton of threads on how to tether via USB using ICS, but none of them fully worked for me. I also gave credit to forum member Boo Boo, whos' post is also where I found the ICS_and_WModem_Fix cab. I didn't rename the cab or claim it was mine. And if you actually searched through the "Tether" posts, you would see many posters just post that cab as a way to "help others out." But you wouldn't understand that part now would you? Perhaps you haven't been on this site long enough? Next time, why don't you try contributing something positive instead of playing "Thread Police".

Sounds good. But did you make sure to check the Windows folder to see if you needed to replace the stock IntShr.exe (42kb) file? You may not need to, but in my case, I did. Steps 1-3 (in my OP) has been originally stated in many other threads before. But I haven't come across any thread that mentioned Step 4. For me personally, I had to learn about it through trial and error. It saves the extra step of having to start the Internet Sharing program prior to connecting the USB cable.

When you plug the USB in your phone and the USB To PC menu pops up and you select Internet Sharing, does the menu give you the option to select either Sprint or Phone As Modem or does it only give you the option to select USB/Bluetooth?

Yes, I have Touch Pro2 6.5 Sprint Stock rom

Should be As Easy As 1-2-3!
I have been using Sprint HTC Touch Pro for a very long time, only thing you actually need is ICSInstall.cab (IntShrUI), that's the only thing you need,for my HTC Touch Pro from Sprint (stock, non-modified) I do not need any additional program such as WModem etc., after install press "ok" to restart the device, then for the first time, open your Opera browser and make the connection alive.
Then open IntShrUI and click Bluetooth PAN and Network Connection as "Sprint". That's it. No need to edit ANY files. Same thing will work on HTC Touch Pro 2, I just tried, no need to do any additional steps, HOWEVER...
NOW, my question is, everything works EXCEPT the Bluetooth PAN, for the PC Connection on IntShrUI in HTC Touch Pro, it cave me an option for either Bluetooth PAN or USB, but in the new HTC Touch Pro 2 it only offer USB, I love the Bluetooth PAN because it's... simple... wireless!
Any idea foks?

You need netframework2 in your pc
The devwiz folder should be put in the root of the drive
Make sure explorer is set to view hidden and system files.
The rom is based in my realthing…..with the latest fixes and drivers.
How to create your rom;
In the devwiz folder there is CreateROM.bat this is the only app you will be using.
Launch CreateROM.bat this will bring up buildOS.exe .select the packages you want in you rom by ticking the boxes, or not, press the arrow to build you rom .WAIT till it says “done” at the bottom.
Close when finished.
Now the command promp window will do its thing,then it will launch nb2nbf_wizard.exe tick the OS box, now browse to the file; FLASH.nb0
put the correct addresses in the boxes ,press generate.
Close the app, now the upgrade utility will launch.
Flash you rom away!
To add the splash screen and htc logo included SEE THE tutorial.
How to create a rom package?
All the custom packages must go into the oem folder.
Create a new folder in the oem folder name it as your rom package, Open the folder and create a new text document call it “ package.rgu”
Note-.rgu files can be edited with notepad.
Save as Unicode, open the package.rgu file and add the following;
“REGEDIT4” ,make sure you leave a blank line after that entry. Now save it. Now you can add the reg keys required for you package if any. Also create a new file called initflashfiles.txt, save as Unicode, this is where you should put the shortcut entries and such if needed for the relevant package.
Use this format to add entries to initflashfiles.txt;
;==========================================================================
; START faria my app- MASD customization settings
;==========================================================================
Directory("\Windows\StartMenu\Programs"):-File("yourshorcut-name.lnk","\Windows\yourshorcut-name.lnk")
;==========================================================================
; END faria my app- MASD customization settings
;==========================================================================
Let say you package is total commander;
put all the files from total commander inside the package and add the required reg keys to the .rgu file and save it ,make sure there’s is always an empty line after the last reg key before saving.
Now we need to add the shortcut to programs, you can copy an existing shortcut from you device and put it inside the package, or make one.
To add the shortcut to programs we need to make an entry in the initflashes.
Create a new text file inside you package rename it to; initflashfiles.txt save it as Unicode.
Open the file and add the following entry.
How to make a shortcut?
Create a new text file, open and add the following; [#"\Windows\your-app-name.exe"]
Save the file with the name of the app like this; [your-app-name.lnk]
Shortcut done!
Save the file….that’s it you created your own package!
You can delete packages you don’t want from OEM only, the custom ones.do not delete x-faria settings package.
how to restore default extended rom?
replace the current entrys in the OEMOPERATORS package .rgu wit this ones;
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm]
"AutoRun"="\\Extended_ROM\\autorun.exe"
"AutoRunCFG"="\\Extended_ROM\\config.txt"
"AutoRunType"=dword:00000000
"TurnRadioFlag"=dword:00000000
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
then copy the contents of the OEMOPERATORS package to the extended rom minus the rgu and dsm files,edit the extended rom accordingly with the new requires settings.
the config text that goes now to the extended rom has to be modified as this;
Code:
SHOW:\Extended_ROM\WallPaper.bmp
LOCK:Enabled
CAB: \Extended_ROM\my-cab.cab
XML: \Extended_ROM\my-xml.xml
LOCK:Disabled
RST: Reset

Got it running...
Thanks again Faria,
Downloaded the kitchen, unzipped it to root. Was able to follow the directions ok. For those of you who try it, the package pretty much forces you all the way through to flash, so be ready! If you get confused about the flash screen and logo screen part you don't have to do that (I couldn't find the tutorial mentioned in the directions.), just do the os part. Tick in the box, browse to the file. Then go to the drop down on the right and select OS again. Then click in the file start address field and it will fill itself in for you. Then hit the Translate button, and away you go!
I just left everything on its defaults in terms of picking packages. The result is a nice plain jane vanilla WM6 rom, ready for loading with your favorite programs. I got 43 meg free storage memory, and 27 meg free program memory. There are none of the cool Faria stuff preinstalled except x-button, task manager, bluetooth explorer, adobe reader, pim backup, voice command.
I haven't had a chance to check everything out. But likely everything will be fine.
Question for Faria: How much "slack" is left in ROM for our own packages in the default setup?
Thanks again for all you've done Faria, I look forward to tinkering with this, until the next version of "Real Thing" comes!

didnt test that one.. but i am sure, we must wait for Faria's response...
I hope, that fix will be easy, because release seems to be good basis for makin new, great ROMS...but it should be tested...first.
Tool and contents.
only thing i know now, that reinstalling commgr didnt help. i did not test 9 button versions,though...only 10.
deletion of posted reg did not help.
as i said before i will look at it.....maybe tonite....
the tutorial should be in the dev folder...
ans no i was not released 2 fast.....i just happen to have a wizard with a dead wifi radio....has any one tried the fix above?

fix did not work. i mean there were troubles with turnin wifi on, then, when i used other method to do so, i couldnt turn wifi and ir off... programms are trying to turn them ON, still.
btw, impressive low nrg drain, i must say, 192 kbps mp3 takes 15% of CPU on 92 mA. using 40thiplay. backlight in half way. Fantastic.
sry for LQ english...
The 10 button comm manager cab has a bad key. You'll need to delete the WLAN key and everything should work okay. You can leave the keys faria spoke of earlier, as they simply change the "turn wifi on" in the comm bubble to "wireless manager". Works like a champ.
a think i found the com manager problem....i use the hermes settings by mistake....in other words i put the wrong package there! duh...
only one question, to be sure: why theres only 27 mb mem free? it seems to be cleaner, than other ones..
k, need to get some sleep, i waited for this package whole night

defaut setup....is about 6-8 mb....of course you can delete more stuff from the rom....for instances if you remove voice comand it will give you 4-5mb more.
please note ...if you overfill the rom the imgfs tools will give an error when building the rom.

ROM Upgraders - How do you deal with settin up your own stuff?

So Seems like with every other Eye blink people around here Flash in and out ROMS.
So I see all the cool things in the new ROM images and want to get the latest and greatest.
Though I hesitate as I really dont like having to setup the phone afterwards.
I install about 5 other Apps on the phone, do some of my own tweaking, etc and I'm back up and running.... Takes a few more hours after the flash.
Is there any way to Automate this?
Anyway to Use an Existing ROM and then Cook my own stuff into it without having to cook/dump the original?

You can try Sprite Backup...
cheers
No backup solution works when a major base upgrade is attempted.
I have cabs for all the apps I run on my SD card along with spb p+ backup and voice dialer recognition file backups. Then, I go through a list I've written out & install everything by hand. Pita for sure but I can get through it in 1-2 hours.
I cook in my own settings by doing diffs and regdumps before flashing. Makes my life much easier. The level of expertise to do so isn't much more advanced than cooking your own rom and creating your own OEM package w/registry dumps.
Hope this helps..
I use PocketPC Installer from here http://www.pocketpctoolkit.com/WhatIsIt1_PPCInstaller.php
The PocketPC Installer is unique.
Simply drag'n'drop your PocketPC / Windows Mobile .cab file & data files into the PocketPC Installer, and it will compress all of your files into two types of self-extracting Installer files.

An installer .exe file for your PocketPC / Windows Mobile device
This is a single.exe file, which you run on your PDA, which contains compressed copies of all of your .cab files/other files, plus the code to required to intelligently install them onto a device.
You could put this one file as a download on your website, or put it on a memory card. The user would just need to insert the memory card into their device to install your suite of .cab files / data files.
An installer .exe file for your Desktop
This is an .exe that you run on your PC, which also contains compressed copies of all of your .cab files/other files within it. This .exe will copy your files onto your device, and start installing them.
Let's have a look at an example.
Here, we have dragged a total of 6.9Mb .Net CF / application .cab & data files into the PocketPC Installer.
Two types of compressed, standalone installer .exe files.
You just have to decide which of them is more useful for you, and ignore the other.

Truth be told I'm like Sleuth, I have all my apps as CAB files on my storage card. You could take all your settings and put them into a registry file but I'm too lazy to do that so instead I have a text file which reminds me all the tweaks/settings I like to have.

That app looks AWESOME! But it also comes with an AWESOMELY LARGE price! Would love to get it with a 50% discount...but not sure I can drop that kind of $$$ for the app.
Me personally... i have made 1 big cab file to do all my dirty work.. its about 3meg in size.. but it sets up my email, rings, sounds, apps, etc... what i did with **most** apps was extract them from their oem cab and put them in my cab.. so i have 1 cab file that does almost everything..
I too have all my cabs on the storage card in three folders - Apps, Games, and Setup.
In my setup folder are cab's that I have created (or pilfered) to do my favoured reg tweaks, and some backup files for individual apps (like PocketBreeze, Movie Guide, an OPML file for RSS feeds, etc, etc.) These get installed straight after flashing a ROM. (I need to get round to doing what shogunmark has done and collect these all into one cab though...)
I install other cabs as I need to use them when I'm out and about (all of the filenames have my registration numbers added to them).
Oh and before I flash any ROM, I add my personal WIMP package to it - that populates the "Owner Information" with my personal details, and installs and registers the "Where is my Phone" application.

Looks pretty cool, though not at $75!! I dont flash that often.
Looks like I have to keep my CABs laying around... Put that 6gb Storage Card to use.
Few weeks ago I upgraded from Helmi's rom to Custel's (wanted to try that new AT&T radio out). I installed all my app's and tweaks, but started having SOD's. I flashed back to original rom in between, flashed back to Custel's rom and installed all apps and tweaks again... Again started having SOD's (this install was my fault that i didn’t test enough is the SOD problem still there, before installing my programs).
Ok, then i thought i flash Dutty's nice lite rom. Flashed that and installed all my programs and tweaks AGAIN... And now the best thing, I’m not kidding; at the same moment I got everything installed FINALLY, I refreshed Kaiser upgrading page on XDA and there it was, A NEW IMPROVED VERSION OF THE DUTTY'S LITE ROM... For real i was cursing out loud!!!
Then i just thought, F*CKIT, i have been installing for Saturday and now Sunday too, my GF is totally pissed off already, no harm of doing this once AGAIN…
No flashing for me until major upgrade comes out… Kaiser is now running smoothly though, no problems at all.
I'm using CabviaActivesync which is free and allows you to right click on any cab and automatically send it to the phone. Makes it quick.
http://www.modaco.com/content/Windo.../CABviaActiveSync-FREE-Edition-now-available/
Right now, I do everything manually but I am also looking into creating one big cab file with all my software in there.
Truth be told, I do the 'cab' backup folder on my SD card like most of you do; and I end up setting everything up through the next few days as I notice things that are not how I like them.
ie: turn off Txt Message Sent notification, reinit touchflow, slide sound off, put all my contacts BACK into the fav contact list, reassign pictures to them, etc....
So, I'm basically in the same boat; as soon as I get it JUST the way I want it, I reflash it. We are all victims I tell you; victims of our own progress.
Cabs on your SD card is the way to go. I just downloaded pocketpc installer and used it to install a lot of cabs... and I must say, I am impressed. I'm going to keep my cabs on my SD card (just in case), and but use my new installer after flashes. w00t!

Interesting thing about that...Spb software used to install a fully regged version when you put your serial in the installer prompt...so then I'd just capture those CABS and never have to worry about it again.
But now they've gotten wise with their new versions and all putting your serial in the installer does is writes it to your registry if your device is connected...*sigh* Ironically as best I can tell the serials aren't tied to your name/device in any way (for Spb software) so its not exactly like they're combating piracy since all it'd take is one person releasing their serial number and everyone could use it.
Anyway...*grumble grumble* I miss the days of having all pre-regged cabs...
I tend to copy my startmenu/programs folder of shortcuts to storage card. Many applications run without installing so in preserving their shortcuts, you save alot time. Those in main memory which i have to install again, i keep as cabs.
Also i use iLauncher (other launchers like spb pocket plus etc also can do the same), the icons linked to the shortcuts on storage card, i save its configuration file. After a new rom, all i have to do is install ilauncher, restore my settings and i'm almost set to go.
Have to re-key in all my serials again tho.

Cricket/Metro - Everything but MMS

***UPDATED FILE TO REFLECT CRICKET IP ADDRESS CHANGE***
Okay so I am not going into detail about Cricket/Metro EPST settings (##3282# and ##778#) or how to use QPST right now. There are plenty of forums which detail everything you need in order to get that setup. I am specifically NOT posting links to these, since they all differ and are nothing more than confusing. The important thing is that you set your user-name to [email protected] and the password (or secret) to "cricket" (without quotes). The MSID is a number which will be assigned to you once you have a Cricket/Metro account setup. You can call them and ask them for this number.
1. Please keep in mind that I did not do anything word-for-word from other tutorials. This setup does not require any proxy shortcuts with Anycut or Bettercut. Also, This is much easier to accomplish, especially if you are not computer savvy, using Root Explorer (download this from the market), rather than ADB.
2. Download this package (Cricket) or this package (Metro), depending on whether you are on Cricket or Metro. Unzip the RAR - It contains the 3 files which will be used.
3. Put these 3 files anywhere on your SD card.
4. Using Root Explorer, copy "u2nl" to root/system/bin/
5. Using Root Explorer, create a new folder within root/data/ and name it "opt" (without quotes).
6. Using Root Explorer, copy "autostart.sh to root/data/opt/
7. Download "Autostart (Root)" from the market.
8. Download "APN Backup and Restore" from the market.
9. Open APN Backup and do a backup of your current APN (for safe keeping).
10. Using APN Backup, delete APN's.
11. Using any file explorer, move the cricketAPNs.xml to the APN backup folder on your SD card.
12. Using APN Backup, restore APN's and select the cricketAPNs.xml as the file to restore.
13. Reboot and you are done.
Metro users, please note:
A few Metro users are saying that Metro does not allow the EVO on their network. I am not sure of this but, if you are a Metro user and want to get your EVO working on their network, you may want to verify that they allow it.
Also, in order to get a phone working on a particular network, you will need to update your PRL file to one that is for that particular network. This tutorial is not going to cover this because there are different PRL's for different areas and different providers. Search around and you should have no problem finding a PRL for your network.

God I wish I was brilliant like you guys
Everytime I read one of these tutorials I want to do it sooo bad but I don't know if I am missing anything not covered such as when someone asks "how do you get your esn added to metroPCS since most reps wont do it for you?". Questions like that scare the hell out of me into thinking that I am missing something so I will end up doing all these steps and then finally get to a missing step not covered at the end which ruins everything.
Is there anyway that someone could do a 6 minute youtube video from ground zero to full internet? pls pls pls
Thank you so much Synthrax for this tutorial. I might be able to try it but even if I'm too scared of missing something I still really appreciate you taking the time to post this tutorial thank you =)
If I'm not mistaken doesn't this process only give one internet connection and apps? Since it doesn't give you the ability to make calls or sms, isn't the title of the thread "everything but mms" a little misleading?
I know you said that you don't want to go over everything already said in the threads about setting up the qpst settings, but I think at least links would be helpful especially for people reading the thread and expecting to actually find directions on setting up everything but mms per the title.

There are two reasons for this...
1. I am not familiar with Metro and I will not post a link to one of the hundreds of differing tutorials, only to have people entering the wrong values in EPST.
2. This thread is within the "EVO 4G Android Development" forum which is for people who have enough knowledge to root their phone and typically much more. Should I also link to a "rooting" tutorial?
I will do what I can to post some of the generic EPST settings when I have time. I would love to write an all-inclusive guide, from start to finish, on how to buy the EVO, unlock it, install a custom ROM, provision EPST, update the PRL, and then get data working on Metro/Cricket... But, until I have time for all of that, you will have to do a little foot-work of your own to find some of the steps missing from my tutorial.
This tutorial is in direct response to all of the people who were looking for it. The title is not at all misleading, as this is the only known method for getting everything working. Yes, it assumes you have the phone on Cricket/Metro and voice and text are working... Anyone can walk into a Cricket store and get a phone flashed - this tutorial is for getting around the Cricket/Metro proxy, and it works
Cheers!
Thanks for posting more. I currently use and evo on the metropcs network in los angeles, and I think its a great option for those who want to have a great phone but don't want to pay 70+ dollars a month in carrier charges. I used the terminal method to modify the autostart program but next time I think I'll try out your method with the root explorer program.

Hey,
I'm sorry I just wanted to add my comments here.
You can get any CDMA phone flashed to metropcs but, you need to check here if its possible for it to work.
Link: http://www.metropcs.com/coverage/
You will notice it will say what type of phone it is. 'dual ban' or AWS. NYC and a few other places do not support android phones. So, if you do it in NJ and you go to NY for dinner do not expect your inet to work or anything except voice/text.
If you want to talk to someone at metro - 800-901-6266 , this is their tech line. You may have a problem getting your ESN added to the network because they dont allow smart phones atm. Same goes for boost. and cricket. You may need to call 30 times and keep giving the IMEI/ESN/MEID and try to trick them.
This is not an easy process. and to be quite honest. its not worth it.
As for the PRL files: http://www.corolada.com/prl/
My advice if you want to save money. Do as i do. Get a GSM android phone. Make sure the freq is compat with tmo. And get mysimplemobile.com. Its 60 a month unlimited * including intl text. its owned by TMO.
Anyways, I hope this helps you guys. so you dont go run and buy a phone and think its going to work
Dont go to a corp store to get your ESN added, not gonna happen... search phone forums or ebay, people will add it for $50
Even if you DO get it added. it will not work right. I dont care what anyone says.
But, have fun Metro is not the way to go.
Boost you can get away with it. but you need a hookup.

I'm hoping so cause I'm on boost. Just got back from a walk up and down the street. Anyone know of any ideas? If I have to go with a new TP2, I guess I can, but if I could get into the EVO I wouldn't mind. I've got backups of this phone, but don't know if they'll be any help. Really bummin right now and trying like hell to find the silver lining. PM me if you've got any ideas or maybe a TP2/Evo with bad numbers? I miss it already.

Do widgets work with Cricket? I used to switch WM phones to cricket all the time, but I've never done android because (previously), widgets couldn't work. Has anyone figured out a system-wide proxy to get widgets working reliably?

Um, you're wrong. I AM on metropcs with my evo, and it works great, I got everything but MMS working, which is for me the least useful thing anyways.
EVO works fine
The EVO works on any CDMA network that will allow another provider's phone on their network. The tutorial I posted works and, compared to all the others out there, is quite simple to follow.
This solution provides full internet - this is the "system-wide proxy fix". By following this tutorial, everything will work, except for MMS. The MMS issue has not been resolved yet, even with the correct settings in the APN.
To make a long story short - if you have questions, ask them... if you have comments, share them... but please do not post about how something doesn't work just because you can't figure it out. All that does is waste space and confuse future readers, which is why I moved this tutorial over to a new thread in the first place.
Thanks!
i had internet, facebook, etc working except incoming mail. i tried doing your solution hoping it would work, and in worst case, it should have left me where i was. now right away any program that requires internet access gives a connection error. i tried restoring the apn that was backed up prior to installing metropcs' and still no luck...?
Strange update...i have all of the instructions on this thread down to a T...until today i couldn't send or receive mms...then i updated to the new 32100 PRL and sent two messages one to my phone number one to my email....neither errored out and i'm still waiting on a message to my phone and in my inbox. will report
Thank You SYNTHAXXX for sharing your knowledge..
I had data set up but after loading up a froyo based ROM I lost data untill I cam across your solution!
Thanks buddy!

Hi Trib, great job, I have tried for 2 days and I think I will stay with this rom, first time I change Titanium, I tried your other flavors but allways prefered Titamium till now...
Still having problems with Opera 10, but no problems with ie.
Request: Can you cook this rom with no Office, Games, and other not required programs but keep the icons so I can install those programs in the SD card and edit the icons to run them from there?? I will appreciate that as I running out of memory to fast...
Thanks and Feliz Navidad

Then you're looking for the post right above yours ^>^
I made it nice and light and you'll have about 25MB of program memory free after closing out excess apps and running oxios. I set my oxios to button 4 so I can easily clear up memory.
To all those of whom just downloaded the SD version of my iTrib ROM set:
Please re-download the ROMs and re-flash ^>^
I realized I did not cook all the necessary files into the control panel; I took out several packages in attempting to make the ROMs lighter but in the end it made the camera not function.
Still errors in Wing version...
Thank you for fixing the camera for the SD version...however, there are still some issues
In both RUU & SD versions:
- Can't power off phone when holding down power button (or pressing power icon in iPhone Today screen)
- WiFi Icon in iPhone Today not responsive
In SD version only:
- Bluetooth not recognized at all (Says "There is no Bluetooth hardware installed on this device") I have a stereo bluetooth headset that I always use. Gotta have
bluetooth working, man
Been using the RUU version, but need more program memory. I was able to get Opera Mobile 10.2 working just fine on the phone, but need the extra program memory that the SD install provides
LOVE this rom, though.
This is Great!!
Wow this is really awsome
But on the video i see you have start on top and some Great icons on the taskbar
should that be in the Rom ?? because i have a big blue taskbar on the bottom (same as Titanium) (ugly blue combination with iphonetoday)
so i run in fullscreen mode
so maybe my installation went wrong or isnt this in the ROM? (RUU)
if not how do i change it
But Really nice job with this ROM
and please continue Making Rom's For p4350
Hope to hear

Hi Ruggie0, about the power button, this is not an issue from this ROM but a WM 6.5 issues as you will get with any ROM with 6.5 O.S.
Now about the WiFi problem, you must turn on the WiFi in the comm manager and then you will have the button working from the today screen icon.
Not clue about the BT problem.
Hope this help.
Saludos
Thanks, Saludos. Glad it's not that particular rom's fault for most of those issues. I just REALLY want that Bluetooth working . Funny thing is that it's only in the SD install, not the RUU version. I get Bluetooth just fine in the RUU version (and only about 10 mb - 12 mb program memory w/ that).
Now, I'm using a 2gb micro SD card (NON-SDHC, per what has been stated on SD HARD-SPLd installs), and it's formated properly.....or should I partition the card down to 1gb?

Unfortunately, this is not an error from my cooking ^>^. You see, our devices were only meant to of used the 6.1 nk and WM 6.1 builds so our devices won't power down by the power button anymore. You can, however, look for apps that power down the device in its stead.

First, you have to go into the commanager, then activate the wifi, then youll be able to use the wifi button

should that be in the Rom ?? because i have a big blue taskbar on the bottom (same as Titanium) (ugly blue combination with iphonetoday)
so i run in fullscreen mode
so maybe my installation went wrong or isnt this in the ROM? (RUU)
if not how do i change it
But Really nice job with this ROM
and please continue Making Rom's For p4350

This actually isn't me, nor, my phone in the video. Basically, you can set the apps installed on the device to be icons as well on the today page. If you download my iTrib package, there you will find the icon injection pack, where you can find all sorts of icons for the various apps that WM utilizes.

I didn't actually cook bluetooth in to make it lighter, but i'll see if i can make you a cab file or something.
LOVE this rom, though.
Thanks for your patronage.

Yeah, if ya could make a .cab file, that would be awesome. Unfortunately, I've now run across a new problem. MY ANTENNA IS SCREWED UP!!!!
Anyways, you are welcome, man. Keep up the good work!
General
i like this rom just bought my wife the wing today and was wondering if any of you lnow where i can get detailed steps to rooting the wing and installing the rom...thnx in advance
First HardSPL; there is a link to download the HardSPL folder at the top of every thread of mine.
There is also directions in the folder on how to HardSPL.
Then, download my Rom. If it is an RUU version run the RomUpdateUtility.exe while the phone is running and if it is an SD version then you can find directions in the third post.
Then follow the rest of the thread.
Hey,
first this ROM is awesome! The only problem I got is that I've got a german Phone and therefore a QWERTZ Keyboard. It's a little bit annoing not to know where my keys are. I'm fine with english but is there a possibility to get the Keyboard switched to german? I tried to change some settings but it worked only for the Screenkeyboard.
Thanks for your adwise
I apologize, the only way to "Germanize" your device is with the onscreen keyboard.
I really only specialize in WWE ROMs ^>^
wat is that s2u2?
S2U2 is a slide-to-unlock app that will lock your devices screen.
after 1 week of struggle with my phone i soem how managed to solve all problem, and from past two days i am using thsi rom.. just one this to say!! its really awesome... great rom dude... i have small sugestion.. is it possible for u to remove some programs to increase speed?? also the contact menu is looking real ugly.. anyway to change its look?? i will really be happy if u provide me a solution and also when i click rotate it rotates screen then hangs up..
edit: am looking for a faster rom which has all basic functionality of OS.. means everything except some unwanted software like ie etc... am looking such with this rom with soem good contact page.... it would be really awesome..
edit 2: can u integrate win7 type of icons as these icons doesnt look good when compared to win7 icons... getting greedy... hope ul feed me..
.
Actually this is all things that you can change.
First, flash the SD version if you haven't already. This will ensure the lightest possible for you.
Next, go into My Device//Program Files and take out anything you don't need frpm here.
Next, place any icons you find in My Device//Program Files//Iphonetoday//icons
Just search XDA's themes thread for Wondows Phone 7 icons.
Thr contactd page is nkghing we can do about.

Phone Screen Sharing App working on non-Samsung PC

Hi all,
SHORT INTRO
After work a lot during this afternoon to get the exe file for my pc, I found that the Side Sync is checking the Bios records, so if you don´t have a real Samsung ATIV PC, the file doesnt work (even if installed). Anyway I have also downloaded the Phone Screen Sharing file which contains the necessary for all the process for Side Sync (copy/paste files from/to PC, full control with PC and KB, send emails, receive notificacions on screen, see videos, etc.)
REQUERIMENTS
- A Win8 PC (Some reported that Win7 is also working)
- A Samsung Galaxy Device
INSTALLING
Please follow the next guidelines to have all working:
1. Download the enclosed file and install it in your Win8 PC (so far Desktop and Laptop are working fine).
2. In the Samsung App web site, search for "Phone Screen Sharing" app and then install in your Galaxy Smartphone.
3. Run the Side Sync Phone Screen Sharing app on your smartphone.
4. Agree to the terms and conditions for the app on your smartphone.
5. NOTE (Some Galaxy devices would require a restart operation in the smartphone)
6. GENERAL RECOMMENDATION Connect the Smartphone using an original USB cable, and don´t use any USB multiport - this might generate some delay on the response of the device for some HD videos)
7. Enable USB debuggin mode on the Advanced/Developer options on your Smarthphone.
7. Start the Phone Screen Sharing installed on step 1 on your Win8 PC.
9. Probably the program will ask for updates, let it do the update. At the end of the update a screen with a mobile appearance will show on your PC.
10. Then click "Next" on the Phone-window on your WIn8 PC
11. Voila... if all is OK, then you will have the screen connected and you can use your mouse, keyboard and copy files from/to your Galaxy device.
Hope this guideline help you to have this amazing app working in you Galaxy Device.
Please don´t forget to contribute some pennies to my paypal account if this help to you... ([email protected]). Thanks!
Phone Screen Sharing apk
Can someone share the apk for the "Phone Screen Sharing" app from the Samsung app store. My Galaxy SII (I9100) is not on the official devices but it should technically work if the apk is available right?
so, is it can show your phone's screen on your desktop screen now?
or just enable mouse/keyboard functioning on the phone screen?
Thank you for the info. It worked on my Note2 and Toshiba laptop except file sharing. Whenever I tried to transfer file from Note 2 using "share via" option and then SideSync, it says "First, conntect device to a PC".
Please help. Even I can't drag and drop from PC to phone and nothing happens and similarly from phone to PC using mouse.
Hi,
The installation language seems Korean or Chinese, any way to change the language? I don't know what to do with the chain_install.exe/ini file
i can read chinese, if you printscreen i can help
Phone screen sharing
Phone-sharing checks for updates and calls for my email address, but does not accept it .... and do not go further.
How do I skip updates?
thanks
No go on Windows 7 64 bit & Note 2.

here it is.. you need to install both, SideSync and Screen sharing. APKs for both are attached.
for those who are having problem with windows 7, first you should install USB drivers and then install Phone Screen Sharing exe. Connect your phone, DO NOT START PHONE SCREEN SHARING TILL WINDOWS INSTALL ALL THE DRIVERS.
Now open the Phone Screen sharing and also start the same on phone. Try connecting 2-3 times.
This method worked on my windows7 & 8 both. However file transferring from phone to PC still a problem.

Thank you very much for the files and info.
MTP or USB mode matters?
Edit: I does not. It is fantastic
The Phone screen sharing works for my Note 2 and Surface Pro.
I can't get the Side Sync to work though... What do I need to do on the PC to get Side Sync working?
Thanks,
Rich
Up and running on AOKP vzw GNex with 64 bit Windows 7.
THIS IS FANTASTIC. Thank you.

I don't believe you can.
I installed it (had to suspend the installer at the exact midway point before it unrolled back the files) and started it and like others see, it says "This computer's model or operating system is not supported by Side Sync".
So I ran it through Process Monitor and it seems likely that it's checking for specific codecs (as evidenced by its access of WindowsCodecs.dll, DWrite.dll, etc. right before it does) that would exist on a Samsung PC. Others suggested that it's checking BIOS, but I'm not sure that's really the case.
I've attached a Process Monitor dump. If anyone wants to analyze it and try to figure out what codecs its looking for (or even if I'm on the right track), great -- I'd love to see this working, but I kind of have a feeling that it's not going to be a quick and easy workaround to get Side Sync running.
(Edit: I'm also attaching the MSInst verbose/debug log in case someone wants to work on why the installer itself fails.)
(Edit: If you need the Side Sync files as they're installed without using the MSI installer, here you go: SideSync_filesonly_1.0.2.12.zip)
Works great in my Galaxy S3 and windows 7 x86, thank you, enyone know where can i found more skins?
