How to flash htc Diamond - General Questions and Answers

Hello I bought a htc diamond off craigslist and I tried to change the msid and when I change it it just shuts off. I need to flash back to original rom and I have no idea how. I downloaded the original nbh but have no idea how to use it or what to do

Have a deep read here for GSM and here for CDMA, if follow instructions all should be ok and you can enjoy WM6.5
Just be sure to know if you have a GSM (SIM card) or CDMA device
Good luck,

Thank you.
I figured out how to use the nbh so now I have the original bell software (Horrible) im on the CDMA network. Now I need the code to change the msid

anyway you could step me thru the process of getting windows 6.5?

Have a read here

Orange Branded Kaiser to Official HTC Rom

I am getting an Orange branded Kaiser next week and will want to revert it to the official HTC Rom, I have never done anything like this so am a bit green. I have downloaded the file RUU_Kaiser_HTC_WWE_1.56.405.5_radio_sign_22.45.88.07_1.27.12.11_Ship.rar
Can any one tell me if this is the official English version of the HTC rom and also is all I have to is follow the idiots guide in the other thread on this forum.
I'd recommend you ask orange for the sim unlock code before attempting this.
Unless you're happy to flash your phone and be unable to use *any* (including oranges) sim in it.

is it the same for T-Mobile? Had a HTC TYTN and now a T-Mobile Vario III and prefer to have the HTC rom because I cannot get the Windos live to auto sync / as messages arrive post a SR ever

Your fine to upgrade as long as you don't touch the radio portion of the Rom.
HardSPL your phone, then decompile the HTC rom and create a new rom using only the OS portion. then install using Pofs custome RUU installer.
Cheers
I held back on changing my Orange UK ROM for the same sim-lock reasons. However I simply used HardSPL first & then flashed my phone with the Sleuth ROM as it doesn't touch the radio & therefore bypasses the sim-lock issue.
Am now very happy and de-oranged.

Apologies in advances for the noobness of this question. I have an Orange Tytn II and would like to use it on O2. I've been using the phone for calls, so it's unlocked. I've got Internet settings for the O2 Stellar from O2 and entered them but it still won't connect making it rather useless to me.
From reading it seems to by because the radio is locked to Orange? CID locked? is that right?
I've successfully run the HardSPL, which I understand will now enable me to install other ROMs. What I'm not clear on is if I do this if I will permanently SIMlock the Orange phone or if the HardSPL gets round this problem and I'll be safe to put on another ROM and so letting me get online and 'deOrangig the phone'.
I've read that I can put on a ROM as long as it doens't touch the radio. But does this releveant only if you want to stay on Orange? Will it let you use another network SIM? And which ROM would that be anyway.
Bit confused as you can see. Any help appreciated.

The basic is that all shipped ROMs are one flashable NBH file. To manage that file you need two apps. One called NBHExtract to extract the content of NBH file into NB files (search here for it) and htcrt to pack the NB files you need into a NBH. If you need to flash only the OS, then take the 03_OS.NB and pack with htcrt. The use Kaiser CustomRUU to flash the OS only.
Hope that helps you.
Cheers.
Hi, I have downloaded the dutty rom and run the NBHExtract program and its extracted 2 files, now I have used the htcrt and that has created a NB file which I understand that I have to now use the Custom RUU file. Will this just flash the OS file and keep the radio etc? the reason I ask if that I have the Orange UK TYTN 2 and I know that if mess with the Radio file then it will SIM Lock the device. Unless someone else can tell me something else. Does what I have done sound right and will it now work on my TYTN2 without it being unlocked?
I have flashed my UK Orange TyTNII,
Firstly and most importantly i flashed HardSPL which you can find in one of the sticky's, connect your phone and run the .exe file and follow the instructions to install it.
Once i had done that i downloaded the HTC Original Rom, using Winrar i took the NBH file out of the HTC_Original_ROM.exe and placed it in a file. Then using NBHExtract i decompiled it into it's sections (Splash Screen, OS, Radio, SPL, IPL) then i repackaged just the OS.nb back into an NBH file and flashed that to my phone.
Using this method i only altered the OS and I have HardSPL installed for protection against bad flashes.
I did not have any problem with the Phone asking for a SIM unlock code
Hope that helps
Cheers

HI,
I am thinking of getting a TyTNII on Orange UK, but because I will be travelling abroad, I want to be able to use local sim cards.
I understand that Orange phones are locked down, what would I have to do to make it 'sim free'?
Do I need to flash the rom as described above?
Also, why is it not good idea to flash the original HTC ROM? The 'sim free' TyTNII can take any sim, whats changed in Orange models?
Thanks in advance for you help.
T-mobile is the same
I would like to get the HTC rom on my Vario III not for simlock just because most of the time the rom is just more stabel how do i do this already flashed my old vario once from wm5 to wm6 but its bin a long time since i have bin here anny help?

On the Orange TyTnIIs there are two types of locks:
a) CID Lock
b) SIM Lock
The CID lock stops you from loading a replacement ROM on the device.
The SIM lock stops you from using a non-Orange SIM.
The free HardSPL software handles the CID lock issue, allowing the ROM to be replaced.
The SIM lock issue cannot currently be fixed with a free solution. There are people on the forum who can SIM unlock it for you for about 20 quid. This will allow you to use any network's SIM in the device, but in general, has little to do with the ROM upgrade issue (though see next caveat).
If you simply run HardSPL to deal with the CID lock, you can now install a new ROM. However, if you blindly install a ROM that contains a different radio rom to orange's radio rom, then the device will behave as if any SIM, including an Orange SIM, is invalid. To get around this you have two options:
a) Only install a ROM which has no radio rom in it, but only changes the Operating System rom, or
b) pay someone 20 quid so that the phone is SIM unlocked, so that when you run HardSPL and install arbitrary ROMs you have no risk of the above problem occurring.
I went with a), and simply ran HardSPL then installed Sleuth's ROM since it doesn't have a radio rom in it. This worked fine; it replaced all Orange's crappy customisations and works.
Solution a) is not what you are after though. You basically want to use a non-Orange SIM, which means you have to SIM unlock it. This doesn't require the use of any software like HardSPL or any ROM upgrades, but *does* require a 20 quid payment to some bloke (via the horrible paypal system, and apparently he wants a copy of your passport/ID for his safety, which ruled this out for me - I'm happy to pay 20 quid, but certainly not happy to be sending my passport details to men in the shadows). Here's his URL - apparently it takes minutes and is done online: www.imei-check.co.uk/kaiser-unlock.php
Hope that helps.
Thanks alot divert, that explains it well.
I take it that the same is true about T-mobile version as well?
I have bought my HTC TyTN II from Orange Netherlands and the ROM language is dutch... therefore I'm struggling to learn as much as possible from this forum how to change the ROM with a WWE one.
This thread is more closely to my situation and I dared to intervene...
So far I understood that first I have to install HardSPL to be able to change the dutch ROM. This is clear to me. Then I have to choose a ROM version (without Radio in it to avoid locking the SIM). Can you help me in this matter to suggest me a stable english ROM? (also the download link if is possible ).
Then I have to install this ROM. Considering that I never did this before I am a little bit afraid not to permanently damage the phone (is it possible?). Some things are not clear to me.
Do I have to dump my dutch ROM before I install the new one or not?
Is it possible to back up the dutch ROM and in case something goes wrong to restore it?
Is not knowing the dutch language a problem during the installation?
What is the simple and safest way to install the new ROM .. can you please have the patience to guide me step by step in this matter? I would really appreciate this...
Thank you!
Later edit: I can PayPal...

I've no idea roks, sorry. I didn't answer your question for a while as I thought someone who knew might. Perhaps they will. Maybe you need to start a new thread for the TMobile question, as this thread will be read primarily by those on Orange UK I'd guess.

As I said, I installed Sleuth's ROM, since that does not affect the radio. See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=343867 - he's put a download link there.
Someone else said that Dutty's Rom also does not affect the radio. Here's the thread for that one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=341879 - I have not tried it though, so I can't confirm. If an Orange UK user does try it, please post your results in this thread so that other people can be reassured it works.
Another user, kyphur, is keeping a nice list of current Kaiser ROMs here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=343198 but it's not clear from that thread which ROMs don't affect the radio. I had to go and read the individual ROM threads to find out. I repeat, Sleuth's ROM does not affect the radio, and someone else tells me that Dutty's Rom doesn't either.

I did not back mine up, because I wasn't sure how to restore it, so I just took a risk (silly, really, but fortunately it all worked). Someone did put instructions on how to do all this here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=337066 but I was too lazy to do it.

I don't know anything about the Dutch Orange phones. I only know about the UK Orange phones from what I have read on the forum and from my own experiences. I can't confirm that Dutch Orange devices have the same SIM lock issue as UK Orange phones. Even if they don't, though, I'm reasonably sure the same upgrade process will be fine for you, as it only upgrades the Operating System (OS) ROM.
When I did the upgrade, all the instructions were in english and on the PC, not the phone. You don't need to read anything on the phone itself, so I would say no, the fact that the phone language is Dutch should not be an issue. I assume the hardware is the same (though perhaps you have a different keyboard layout, and I don't know enough about the OS to know if this is an issue). If someone else knows better, please say.

All I can tell you is what I did - remember this is for Orange UK TyTnII:
ORANGE UK TyTnII Rom Upgrade Steps:
First, try to read the Stickies at the top of this forum. Even if it doesn't make a lot of sense to you, there might be something important to you there: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=378
Download Kaiser HardSPL and follow the instructions.
Here is the thread with the download link and instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334679
Download a ROM that only affects the OS. I used Sleuth's.
Here is the thread with the download link and instructions:

That's it. It's actually pretty simple despite sounding very scary. This is thanks to the clever people on this forum making these tools for us (thanks guys)

This thread is about changing the TyTnII Orange UK Rom, not SIM unlocking it. Nevertheless, your question was answered as part of post #7, which you should probably read.
In summary, there is currently no free solution to SIM unlock your Orange UK TyTnII. You can pay someone GBP 20 to do it for you: www.imei-check.co.uk/kaiser-unlock.php

Error 290 for the TP2 Please help!

I'm in dire need of help as this is my only phone and I just wanted to get windows mobile 6.5 on here. I got my HSPL from rhodiumw.htc-unlocks.com/hard-spl.php and that worked fine and then I tried to flash 1.82b_sense_2.5_2012_full also known as Josh's Rom I believe. It stopped at 10% and told gave me the error 290. I had removed my SD card and SIM card and it said going into CDMA mode when i started it back up to start the flash and used my USB cable. Now my phone only starts and stop on the tri color screen and it says:
___________RUUNBH(without the underscores)
RHOD400 32M SS-BC
SPL-1.00 OliNex
MicroP(LED) 0x0A
MicroP(KEY) 0x04
TURBO HW/TURBO SW
TP MFG DATA
(This line has dual text but I'll try) 503U524 707...and under it it says upgrade ROM code error
798, 20B1211 203 (under it: please try again)
207, 837 Calibrated
USB
Please help because I have no clue what to do.
You have a CDMA phone. You can't flash ROMs made for GSM. Make sure the ROM you're using is made for CDMA.
I'm sorry for being so confused and lost, I just entered this whole world of customizing the phone and am not sure of how everything works. The only reason I tried this is cause I'm somewhat of a computer nerd but have no idea in the field of phones. So do I need to reflash with stock rom from sprint? And if so where do I find it? and what HSPL do I use for my phone? I thought the my phone was a GSM as well as CDMA cause the SIM card seems to be for the GSM part. Some steps what to do would be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance!
EDIT: I just used the relocker from the same website and my phone started up again and it seems like it works fine now but what HSPL unlocker do I use to flash a new ROM? I'm confused about if i should use GSM or CDMA? I have a SIM card that seems to be for GSM and i saw it go into CMDA mode when I removed it. Suggestions?

If the phone is CDMA at all (even if you're using GSM mode), you must use the CDMA stuff from the CDMA sub forum or ppcgeeks.

Help Please, which is the right Hardspl

hello everyone!
so I bricked my old sprint tp2 with a wrong spl.
tomorrow i am picking up my new one.
can you please tell me once and for all, what is the right Hardspl for the Sprint tp ?!?!?!?!??
the phone is a CDMA as i understand it, but it can work on GSM networks with a simcard. so is this the right Hardspl?!:
http://rhodiumw.htc-unlocks.com/hard-spl.php
or do I need a different version?
thanks for all the helpers!
that is the one you need.
just remember that if the device does cdma of any kind then you always want a cdma rom, radio, and unlocker. Never put a gsm anything on a phone that does any cdma

Ditto, not that he needs my vote, just thought I would add that you need to remember three things.
1. remove your SD card before trying to hardspl your phone
2. make sure your GSM sim card is in before you try to flash hardspl
3. remove any gsm rhodimg or *.nbh files out of your SD card root directory
yep that's the right one, I used that one on my sprint TP2 and it worked great

[Q] US Cellular TP2 CDMA, I want to use it in EU

I've bought a US Cellular TP2 CDMA device months ago, but now I'm back at home and I want to use it in Europe, mostly in Hungary, with an Eu carrier's SIM. Is it possible to put an European radio on this device or I have to use the WU radios? Should I unlock the phone to put a new radio on it?
I'm not sure about Cellurar, but try and put your SIM card (there is a place below battery) and when you turn on the phone it will ask you if you want to use Global mode. If you answer yes it would work as it should . No rom flashing is necessery Flashing GSM version of ROM can kill your phone , so I wouldn't do it!

Thanks for the answer. Right now I can't try it, but I will as soon as I'll have the SIM.
Is there any difference in hardware between cdma & gsm touch pro 2, or just the radio firmware?
(As far as I know, every TP2 has the QUALCOMM CMDA MSM CHIP inside, either originally CDMA or GSM.)
So the main question is that if I never ever want to use it outside of the EU again (or as a CDMA device), am I able to flash somehow an EU radio on the phone?
You don't need to flash anything, just remove your sim card when in USA , you could then use it in Cellurar network (you should register it in the network first and pay I suppose).

Thanks for the help. That's ok, I understand it, but I won't go back to the USA in the next few years, so this phone will be used only in the EU from now. I've unregistered it at US Cellular.
The reason is why I want to use it with an EU radio, is that I want to use is with EU roms and I've heard that some complains about problems with WU radios when trying to use 3G in the EU.
So my life would be much easier this way, but if it's not possible, I'll use CDMA...
Any ideas? Is it possible to flash an EU radio and ROM on my CDMA TP2?
No. Don't even try it. You don't need it, CDMA rom would work with 3g network in Hungary .

sprint and cellular tp2 are supposed to be unlocked, but i may be wrong. no need for any radio or flashing. the cdma version contains the cdma and gsm radio, so need of flashing rom or radio. everything is built in
thanks defaultdotxbe for the link, but that really doesn't help as well I brought a verizon htc tp2 rhod500, winmo 6.1 not a sprint htc tp2 (cannot confirm but stated on advert) (thats what it says on the rainbow splash - volume down key + hang up key) from ebay apparently clean esn. Recieved today and have been trying to connect to O2 (gsm 900 band not sure about umts).
but I have the following problems:
1)It finds the networks but cannot register even under umts/gsm bands 900+1800 + umts 2100+900 or gsm 1900+850 + umts 1900+850.
2)Same problem under global
3) Upon start up get warning need to insert valid verizon sim - guess it has not been unlocked yet?
4)Under settings, there is no security or personal tab... so i cant get the unlocker as i dont know the imei.. or can i phone verizon and they will give it to me?
any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
p.s does the htc tp2 have hspda / umts bands usable in the eu - the htc website really doesn't specify but it does for verzion :S.

Please remove the spaces for the link to work.
I'm using htc tp2 from us celular in Macedonia it is sim unlocked (but you can not use it with us sim card) just insert the sim and that's it offcourse you need to change the settings from cdma to global mode to do that go to settings/comunications /phone/network
