Rooting MyTouch 3G (3.5mm Jack) and need help - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

OK, so I've just spent the past four hours trying to get my stupid phone rooted. I think I've successfully done so using the steps provided by The Unlockr. It's the one for "How to: root myTouch 1.2 and Fender. I think this was the right one to use since they had about four different "How To's" to choose from. I loaded the Fender ROM they listed at the bottom of the page and believe it's right since I've not got a Superuser Permissions option in the application list.
Now to my issues. One I was just wanting to make sure I used the right process. If not, or if there's a better one to use, someone please let me know.
Secondly, USB in Fastboot no longer works. I can get to Fastboot, however when I plug my USB cable in, my computer doesn't recognize that anything was plugged in and Fastboot doesn't show to "USB" writing next to it. This was just working around 30 minutes or so ago.
Lastly (I hope), I'm still kind of confused about the whole 32A and 32B thing. I'll post my specs via Fastboot at the end, but I was reading somewhere that the 32A boards had the 3.xx radio's, however, mines showing the 2.22 radio. Did I miss something or did the person not know what they were talking about?
We'll start from there. I'm really hoping someone is on that can help me out because I'd love to be able to get things sorted out tonight before hitting the sack.
FASTBOOT Specs:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT-1.33.0013 (SAPP31000)
RADIO - 2.22.23.02
"About Phone" Information:
Model number: T-Mobile myTouch 3G
Firmware Version: 1.6
Baseband Version: 62.50SC.20.17U_2.22.23.02
Kernel Version: 2.6.29-g023e5c9
Build Number: 2.10.531.3 CL111099 release-keys

So I figured out the USB issue. For some reason I had to have Device Manage rescan for hardware changes and I'm not getting USB via Fastboot.

No one? I could really use some help here.

Hey, So i have a new phone with 2.2.1 official and unrooted. Can you help me root it and put CM on it?

What SPL should I choose to replace the 1.33.0007 SPL?

Hello to all,
I have already started a thread about this topic, but it was on the wrong section( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4663229 ), I apologize to all users and moderators.
Here goes:
I have a 32B HTC Magic from Vodafone Spain with a 1.33.0007 SPL. I have been looking arround for a few for info about this SPL and it seems to have small amout of info about it.
I guess this is a perfect SPL, but its not listed in here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=548218
This SPL does not allow to flash it using the fastboot method, a "remote: not allow" error, making it more difficult to make some hacking, such as changing the splash screen.
Even though, I was able to change the recovery image and flash some roms using the "one click method" with no problems.
Now, I am thinking of changing this SPL using the recovery image that I already have installed, its the recovery-RAv1.2.1G, so I can use the fastboot method to make some hacking, such as change the damn splash screen.
The problem is that there are a few SPLs, and I don't know which one is the most appropriate to my phone and has less chances of brick the phone.
Here are some more details of the phone:
SAPHIRE PVT 32B SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT-1.33.0007 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-10
RADIO-2.22.19.26I
Using the "recovery-RAv1.2.1G" recovery image and the "Smartphone France ROM by spfrance - Based on HTC Magic, dedicated for European users" rom.
On the other thread, the user robotician suggested to use the 'Engineering SPL 1.33.2005', is this SPL safe on my phone. Has anyone with a phone like mine flashed this SPL?
Can any one give me a help here?
1.33.2005 use it
Thanks, I guess I will use the 1.33.2005
I have some USB problems, since I can't connect to the PC to use ADB or mass storage device. Already tried Windows and Linux with no luck.
Could a SPL install solve the problem?
I locked your FIRST thread and left a message on what you should do.
You actually start a second thread???
Open one more thread in the wrong section and you will be taking a 5-day vacation to Bannville.

Radio is wrong.... Unknown means you have wrong SPL. You didnt install the G, not H recovery.
Please, you guys haver got to start reading instructions rather then thinking you know what your doing and jumping ahead.
Go back and re read the instructions. But, I suggest not because you will probably brick with radio. Plus, where are you guys finding this vodaphone rom your using to downgrade... because its not the right one
I found the sapping.zip on amon thread on how to root and un root ur mytouch! What can i do???? It is fixible???
Also i forgot to mention the hboot is 1.33.009 (sapp 31000)
the 3.22 radio should be right for a 32A I believe... but im confused. You said your phone is 32A (well thats what the info displays) but I think it should be a 32b... SO In conclusion! I believe you have the wrong spl, and your recovery doesn't work cause you were probably using the 32B recovery in the past. So you need to flash the H recovery and if you can get into recovery, awesome. But I think you may need to flash spl, and I would use the 1.33.0010 ENG SPL (double check if this is compatible with your phone)
If this works out, I'd totally accept the $25! Please! hahaha and next time, post in the right section
k re-read your post several times. Since you used some Sappimg, your phone probably isn't even rooted (or is it?). Could you even get into recovery before? AND Crap, you totally need an ENG SPL before you can even flash anything. SOOO You'll PROBABLY (I think you do) need a goldcard and put the correct sappimg on it and go into hardboot (or fastboot if you know what ur doing) holding vol down and power.
This is the wired thing ppl said tha usa tmobile mytouch 3g are 32b cus my first one was a 32b but this one is a 32a its not rooted i was trying to rooted and wen i use the goldcard with the sappimg zip to bring it back to cupcake 1.5 thats what it happen i been seaching for almost a month and i cant find the corect sappimg nbh or zip for my phone can some one give me the link for the corect one please here is the total info of my phone again
usa tmobile my touch 32g black
sapphire unknown 32a ship s on h (before was s on g the sappimg change it)
hboot 133.0009 (sapp31000)

Does your phone have a 3,5mm audio jack?
yes it dos it have the 3.5 audio jack on top
Congrats, you're the proud owner of a new type of Magic, the 32A Mytouch 1.2/Fender. None of the existing roms are compatible with it, as the driver sources are not available. Try making a goldcard and flashing an engineering SPL and then flashing the original rom from fastboot. Have fun
can u give me thouse links please? so i cant download them and try to do it
I don't know exactly where to find them, just look around and use the search button too, it doesn't bite. Look for goldcard and fastboot: remote not allowed.
can't post link, but try theunlockr.com and search for fender section.

[n00b] Need help Rooting MyTouch 3G 1.2

Specs:
MyTouch 3G 1.2 (3.5mm headphone jack) Running 1.6
32A SHIP S-ON-G
HBoot: 1.33.0013 (SAPP31000)
CPLD: 13
Radio: 2.22.23.02
My problem is this: I want to root my phone, and from what I know, since I have a 32A mobo, i need to use the goldcard method. It took me forever to figure out that in cmd when I was trying to open up adb devices, i was typing in the wrong folder name (lol)...but I got that sorted out. I got my CID and then I used soaa's website to get my reversed CID. I made the goldcard.img using the PSAS website, and then used HxD Hex Editor to make my goldcard. This is where my problem begins. I do NOT have a microSD adaptor, so I just modified my goldcard while it was plugged in to my phone...and it seemed to work because my phone could not detect it. I rebooted the phone, and it recognized it... which I ofund out was normal. I connected the phone to the computer and copeid SAPPIMG.zip to the card (the only other folder was LOST.dir). Then whe i booted into fastboot mode and used Hboot it seemed to work...before it said Model ID incorrect. I also ran into that problem when I was trying to downgrade from 1.6 to 1.5 (without a goldcard). I just rebooted the phone again, and now it says SD card damaged..and wants me to format it.
Ultimately, my question is: Is my method wrong? And if so, what can I do to rectify it?
Thank You all in advance.
I had the same problem, but when i get to the fastboot mode it looks for my SAPP img file and it saids its not there and sits there and nothing happens.I figured i was doing something wrong but everything worked so far until that happend
It didnt say it was wrong but then again nothing right came about from the scan for the file so im lost =/

[Q] HTC IInspire 4G Bootloader Interface Driver?

I am not sure if this is the correct place however I am going to inquire being it is more a development type thing and beyond the scope of even simple ROM changes, I have a HTC Inspire 4G S-Off Super CID and a Eng-hboot and running firmware ver 1.32.405.6 what I am looking for despite my every effort is the driver for HBOOT, instead of choosing fastboot i am looking for the drivers that allows you to work with the HBOOT USB PLUG, ultimately its intended to get my later HBOOT sense 3.0 to go back to locked status instead of relocked, ive looked at mmcblk0p18 in a hex editor and can't find the address id change there, if this post is in the wrong place my apologies, if the end result is where the drivers are not needed and i could be pointed to the right direction on the locked status on the boatloader id appreciate that too, thanks in advance

[Q] Help with Stock O2 UK RUU

HTC Sensation XE
Networked unlocked (was previously locked to O2)
I acquired the phone via courier and ordered through O2.co.uk
Android: 4.0.3
Software: 3.32.206.151
Sense: 3.6
PYRAMID PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT: 1.27.0000
Carrier ID: O2___001
Kernal: 3.0.16-gc764bfb
Baseband: 11.69A.3504.00U_11.23.3504.07_M2
Build: 3.32.206.151 CL348082-release keys
Using a Windows XP SP3 machine for running android SDK etc.
Hello!!
I have recently moved providers and wanted to install a non-O2 HTC 4.0.3 on my device.
I have no experience of rooting or anything beyond installing .apks not sourced from Google Play.
I went about reading through a ton of tutorials and learned that I needed to unlock my Bootloader, root/SU the device, make S-OFF, flash the recovery, and then I would be in a position to put another non-O2 ROM on.
I found this thread and as it seemed to be related to a respected XDA member, decided to follow it
http://www.flow-wolf.net/2012/09/how-to-root-your-htc-sensation-xe-4g.html
and got the bootloader unlocked.
After getting SU/Root (a prerequisite for using the Wire Trick) via this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1632553
I began to work my way through http://www.flow-wolf.net/2012/09/how-to-s-off-htc-sensation-xe-4g.html to get S-OFF. However when running ControlBear.exe in ControlBearRelease_pyramid_ICS_WIN, I was getting a "unable to create secondary backup" error, or something very similar. Google led me to http://unlimited.io/jbtroubleshooting.htm "This is often caused by a Custom ROM or having HTC Sync installed on your PC."
So I uninstalled HTC Sync, went through the process again but the error persisted.
So I do not have a custom ROM installed as far as I know, but maybe the term "custom" refers to anything that is a modification of the installation that the device was shipped with. I honestly can't remember which Android version the phone was running when I got it.
My question is, it is worth me trying to roll back to whichever version was probably shipped with the device? If it is, where would I find exactly what I'm looking for? I read through this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1672425 but can't find any downloadable RUUs that have a CID of 001 in, and as I said, I'm not sure which version I would need to look for.
No one will die if I have to keep the O2 software on the phone, but as a last resort I am posting here in the hope that someone will point out the obvious/call me an ignorant n00b etc. but ultimately point me in the right direction
Thank you!
if you just want to flash custom rom then you can do it without S-OFF
see this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631861
note: by the way for the controlbear.exe use usb 2.0 ports not 3.0(it is more preferable the back one)
install htc drivers
uninstall htc sync as you said
enable usb debugging mode from settings
also you have the original stock rom(since you are on S-ON(i assume also LOCKED)
