Change An locked AT&T phone to T-Mobile - General Questions and Answers

Hello All...
I want to lend/give my AT&T unlocked Fuze to my friend to try, but he is on T-Moble network. How can I do this, if possible at all? Is there a stock T-Mobile ROM for the Fuze that will work on the at system?
Any help would be appreicated!
Thanks

You need to purchase an unlock code for the phone. You can google it, or try looking for one on ebay. All you do is buy the code, follow instructions to entering it and then it will be fully functional (with EDGE speeds on any GSM carrier if not used with AT&T)

If already SIM unlocked just put the T-Mobile sim in and will work if not there is a thread for sim unlock in Touch Pro section, as previously stated the phone will not have 3G or HSDPA due to the band differences of the networks.

Ok,
I have the unlock code for the fuze from AT&T. My question is, do I leave the AT&T ROM on it or is there a T-Mobile ROM that I have to load? Will it work ok with the AT&T ROM or is it better to change it to a T-Mobile ROM if one exists?
That's my question...
Thanks

Won't make a difference the Radio will have more to do with functionality since reception may be differnt due to carrier.

So you are saying I should load a different radio?

Telus (Canada): Possible to unlock Touch Pro?

I was wondering if anyone might be able to offer direction as to how I might unlock my phone? I bought it straight out 18 months ago and only now have learned it would have been wiser to purchase an unlocked version in the first place! I am not sure if this is possible, but it would be great if anyone had time to offer direction/advice.

Telus Canada is CDMA - not GSM.
I am new to these dual tech phones - so will ask the question. Can CDMA phones be unlocked in the same way GSM's are ?
Thanks bill_in_mtl,
I guess that is my question then So, can the Telus CDMA be unlocked? IF so, how?

[Q] AT&T Fuze in europe

Hi, i friend gave an HTC Fuze (GSM) locked on AT&T.
will i be able to use it in europe if i unlock it?
there is some radio-flashing needed or it will just work with any european Sim after the unlocking process?
Sorry, this may seem a stupid question but i'm new to this world
also:
What is the best way(site) to unlock it? i've already looked into that and i know it is a service that needs to be payed off.
Thanks in advice
Ok, it worked, thanks anyway.
re: FUZE unlock for europe
AT&T unlocked mine for free. Just call and ask. I used my FUZE all over Europe and enjoyed very fast speeds from the local carriers there.

[Q] [q] d2g + us att sim?

So I've done a large amount of searching, not only on XDA but elsewhere to find a real 'answer' to my question, but I haven't found anything concrete, hence this thread.
I have aquired a Droid 2 Global from VZW for free, and I want to use it with my US ATT SIM, on the US ATT GSM Network.
Things i have done:
- Flashed the phone to the stock OS in order to....
- Flash the radio so it accepts ATT GSM signal
- Aquired the sim unlock code from ATT for my current phone/sim (I'm unclear on exactly what this whole sim unlock process is about, perhaps why I'm asking)
The phone boots, but when I have my SIM inserted, it asks for the unlock code.... What exactly IS it asking for?
The SIM unlock that I recieved from ATT doesn't work.. (I assume this is the unlock for my sim, in my current phone?)
What is the next step, if this is possible? I've looked at getting the phone unlock code via ebay, or one of the piggyback devices like TurboSIM, but I'm unsure what will work, if anything will work?
Help??
Thanks in advance for any info provided
It asks for the unlock code you can get from VZW's Global Support if you are a VZW customer.

Well, since I'm at ATT customer, how would I go about getting this code? I do have a friend that works for VZW, which is how i got the phone, and he is willing to assist me. Can he provide it?
The phone must be on an active line of service, and the billing history must be clean for the past 6 months.
If your friend works for Global Support, then maybe. If not, I doubt it.
Hmph..
I guess I overestimated the difficulty of getting this to work. It was just another case of having to get the unlock code from the phone itself via IMEI number, and yahtzee, working as I had hoped.
For some reason I had the notion that it was significantly more difficult after reading all of the posts about trying to get other SIMs to work.. but its actually very very straight forward and easy.. it just seemed that nobody had ever really made it clear that a US ATT sim could work on a VZW D2G handset with US ATT service.
Thanks for your input!

[Q] TF300TL SIM unlocked?

About to buy one of these from Newegg or B&H
...I wouldn't really be using it in the USA so just wanted to check if, despite the push towards AT&T data plans, the TF300TL wil work with any sim?
If not can it be unlocked easily enough?
Thanks!

Some users of TF300TG have unlocked with the Asus Unlock Tools v7 (click in my sig -index tf300).
I'm not sure if it works well for your TF LTE.

Thanks.
Are you sure the TF300TL does come network locked to AT&T in the first place? It's strange because seemingly the exact same product is sold at different stores -some like B&H imply you can use it with any SIM while others like Newegg suggest AT&T only.
I've not found any sellers specifically saying it's network locked though and the model number seems to be the same everywhere. Asus's website sheds no light on the issue either....anyone have any ideas?
wait, he's talking about firmware flashing lock, not network sim lock.
I dont know if the tl is sim locked but international LTE uses different frequencies than american LTE, they could be incompatible.

Aaah.. I thought so.
Well there is no LTE yet anyway in Sri Lanka where i spend most of the time. However I'm pretty sure I should still be able to receive data signal on the tablet via 3G, right?
Thanks a lot for the help.

Forgive My Ignorance...
I was wondering if the US version of the cellular enabled tf300 used a SIM at all. Most of the networks there are CDMA.
Best and thanks,

Yes it uses a SIM chip and is compatible with AT&T. When unlocked it will work with Rogers AT&T, Telcel, T-Mobile, etc. but with T-Mob (and some other carriers) it will deliver data @ with blistering edge speed...due to it being on less than optimal data frequency bands for T-Mob.

You are again confusing unlocking the firmware with unlocking the sim over network....
not the same thing.
some carriers when they sell their subdsized devices they lock them over their own network, so thath you cant use them with another carrier just by switching the sim.
if you put a sim from another carrier on a sim locked device you'll get an error and no network.

So far no one has found a way to SIM unlock the U.S. version TF300TL.
I have the TF300TL and mine came factory unlocked.
As previously stated I believe mine is an internal/sample version as it has a custom U.S. ROM.
I have surfed the web on it using AT&T, T-Mobile, and Telcel (Mexico) SIMs.
AT&T at 4g speed, T-Mobile with the blistering EDGE speed, and 3g in Mexico.
Telcel uses the same data band frequencies as AT&T.

I am stuck on ICS (no problem, works fine for me)
As I have stated before I have a "sample" or "engineering" or "internal" version.
It is locked down pretty hard. I can't unlock the bootloader, can't install CWM or TWRP, and can't update the ROM.
I was happy just getting it rooted.
Besides I have 1 of the few rare, unlocked LTE TF300TL's.

Question about unlocking SIM on a BNIB t-mobile s7 for use on Verizon

So like the title says I have a brand new never started/updated t-mobile s7 and I'm looking to use the phone on the Verizon network where I currently have a plan.
I've never unlocked SIMs before so I figured I'd check here first, I don't want to brick the phone obviously..
So my question is how do I go about doing this? I see t-mobile has an app that unblocks the SIM for customers, however I'm not a customer and do not plan on using t-mobile network.
I found some dodgy websites that claim to be able to do it but I'm not sure how I feel about handling over my information to them especially without at least some third party confirmation that the service actually works and is not a scam.
Does anyone have some input on what to do?
Flash the 930U firmware to it. This should allow it to be SIM unlocked.
Try calling tm you just never know they may just give you the unlock codes. I had a phone lock to att once, gave them a ring and they gave me the codes, just be nice.
I used the tmobile unlock app on device. The app checks if you qualify same as a rep would.
Sent from my SM-G930T using XDA-Developers mobile app
So I got the phone unlocked but only to find out the T-Mobile s7 is GSM, Verizon runs on CDMA which is not compatible.
Now that I have it unlocked, would it be possible to flash the Verizon s7 software and have it connect?
I assume I'll need to root the phone in order to do that but will the hardware interact properly with the Verizon software?

CDMA and GSM are two different frequency bands, and use separate hardware. Meaning, they are physically not compatible.

The good news for you is that the S7 sold in the United States all contain the same hardware, the same actual components, so they all physically are capable of handling both GSM and CDMA networks. Also good for you is that now that the phone is unlocked, you can either flash the Verizon firmware or flash the "U" firmware on your device. Normally speaking, this would be really bad advice for any other device, but for the S7 it is possible.
I have the T-Mo S7 flat, and I am running the latest U firmware on AT&T, though I have flashed many and sold them for Verizon.
Don't fret, be happy, and Merry Christmas!
will this allow lte+,in order words can I make a call and still browse the internet on verizon?
