No LED flash on Handcent :( - EVO 4G Themes and Apps

I just got my EVO today and I downloaded handcent for messaging and when I go into the settings the LED flash setting aren't available there to set. It shows the settings and shows its checked off to to flash for notifications but I can't select the settings. Is this a app problem, an EVO thing? Anyone else with this problem?

Simple...ditch Handcent and get ChompSMS
ChompSMS IMHO is 100% better then Handcent. LED notifications work, easy to setup and understand.

I just noticed the LED does blink, I just can't access the settings. Does the EVO have a multi colored LED? I'm going to guess probably not.
Sent from my Supersonic EVO 4G

I do not think it does...just one color LED flash.

I believe it is a dual color LED, red and green. Green for notifications/fully charged, orange (green and red together) for charging, and red for low battery.
I haven't messed with any LED notification settings in Handcent but mine flashes green when I get a message.
I wish it would flash while it was charging though...

Mine flashes green with the messages, along with the Orange and red for the battery. Maybe those options are locked cus we don't have the led'sthst change color. Which sucks because you would think with such a high tech device they would add it.

I forgot, but I am colorblind so all I see is one color

Looks like I'm wrong about the red part. My phone is on low battery right now and is flashing orange. So I guess it just has green and orange? Green + red definitely don't make orange too, I never did pay attention in art class...

Handcent is awesome. You might have conflicting settings with the normal messaging app. Any time you install a replacement SMS app, you have to be sure to turn off all notifications in the original messaging app. Otherwise it gets quirky.

I'm having the same issue. I'm pretty sure when I first got my EVO, the LED would blink blue when I told it to, but I can't be 100% sure. However, Handcent sent out there usual bi-weekly update and then it would only flash green, PLUS the settings for LED were greyed out and unavailable to even change. So I just lived with the green flashing hoping they'd make an update.
I think it was Tuesday this week, they send out another update and the settings were ungreyed so I thought they had fixed it. I set it to flash blue, but instead, it won't flash at all now. Today I check and there was ANOTHER update to Handcent so I downloaded it and the setting are back to being greyed out, but it still doesn't blink at all.
Like I said, I'm pretty sure I saw it blink blue when I first got the EVO (and all this stuff worked great on my G1), but I know for sure that it blinks green, orange and red. If the battery goes to extremely low and starts popping up the low battery warnings, the light flashes red. When its charging, it's orange.
Hope they get this fixed. Just wanted to chime in because its not some setting or something that we are overlooking; pretty sure its the app.

It has a green and red/orange LED. No other colors.

I haven't noticed a blue blink,
but I got the same thing with the updates, and for the brief moment when it wasn't grey and could play with the settings, it was set to blink blue, but blinked green.

NueLed

Guys,
I installed the Nueled LED driver (which used to work quite well with mogul) and looks like it has screwed up my LED notification. I even uninstalled it, did a hard reset and sprite restore but my feeling is that the LED is not behaving like it used to. I think there was a constant signal LED but I dont see it any more. The only LED notification which is working is the email one.
Even the WIFi and bluetooth are not giving any notification. any suggestion?
Also:
Can someone please tell me the default LED behaviour (with color) for Sprint 6.5 ROM for the following:
1. Signal available
2. Wifi
3. Bluetooth
4. Messages (Email/SMS/MMS)
5. Reminders
6. Battery Low
7. Charging
8. Battery full charged
Thanks!
if you hard reset there is no way the led is still messed up.
Actually you are right. Some ppc geeks guys confirmed thats how the LEDs have been configured in TP2 Sprint.

My LED only flashes on next text, email, i think missed calls. Other than that, and charging/charged, nother color or light comes up. Only orange and green. Thats how I got it so I guess thats how it supposed to be? LIke when I hook up to bluetooth, it doesnt turn blue or anything. I didnt think it was supposed to?

Notification LED

Hello All, new Android user (iPhone 3g to Inspire) and trying to understand how the notification LED is supposed to work. I had few missed calls but there is no notification LED at all. I checked the Settings > Display > Notification Flash and all the check boxes are checked. Do I need to check any other setting (saw a post about a 5 min led flash time limit)?
There is a free app from the Market called "Missed Call', has MUCH MORE options and is what I use.
Details here
Try it out and if you like it let us know.
Thank you! I'll try that app and will let you know.
Hmm am I the only one still getting just the same green light with Missed Call?

I also use missed call, and it works great for sound notifications. as for led notifications all i get is a green led. does the inspire only have one color (green). also with missed call the led only blinks for a while when the screen is sleeping...then it stops, anyone else experiencing this?

yeah, the LED does orange/amber and green. In a couple weeks or sometime, the root may allow for us to set suctom colors for different things, a la Nexus One style.
and the LED will only flash for a certain amount of time before it stops because it thinks you are purposely ignoring whatever it is. I'm not sure what the time frame is though
I was having problems with my LED as well. I checked the settings though.... it was off. Face-palm moment. Reading this thread made me realize what I did though, so thanks to you! haha.

LED Indicator color

Anyway to change the little LED when a text or email comes in, without having to download another messaging program.

Right. So you have three color possibilities, green, dark amber and both which is a lighter amber. But the great thing about lightflow is that you can set the blinking patterns and duration.
So for example I have email set to blink a slow green, sms and gtalk fast amber. So I know what i have by just looking at the light.
The other cool feature is repeat vibrate and sound alerts until cleared. Sometimes I don't hear a regular sound in my pocket if I am in a loud environment, so having it make the sound again after 15-30 minutes helps as I probably am in a quieter place.

Not bad... the only problem with the amber though is it reminds me of my battery dying. I guess as long as there's a different pattern it won't be so bad.

[Q] Light Flow/notification LED issue - keeps flashing

Hello everyone!
I recently replaced my 3 year old Nexus S with a Nexus 5. It's my second smartphone and I love it. Naturally, I rooted it and everything.
One of the apps that peeked my interest was Light Flow. It's a bit mind-boggling what you can do with it, but I'll figure it all out. However, I noticed one issue straight away...
Notifications in different colours seem to work. I did a test with whatsapp and it blinks green: perfect. However, after a couple of "blinks" a white light flashes "through" it if that makes sense. It doesn't alternate between green and white, no, they just flash through each other, the white light slightly before the green light.
I don't know what is causing this white light to flash, but after I turn off Light Flow and close the app entirely, it keeps flashing. I have to restart my phone to make it stop (or disable notification LED in the Android settings menu).
Does anyone have a similar issue? Or can someone maybe tell me what boxes I have to tick in the Light Flow settings? It could very well be one of the settings is causing this issue. If someone has a certain set-up and it works fine, I'd love to try it and see if it fixes my issue.
Thanks in advance!

I installed LightFlow yesterday for the first time.Worked well, but after receiving a notifcation for Whatsapp and Gmail (and opening up the respective apps, the notification carries on until I reboot.I dont know if there is a setting somewhere (doesnt seem likely?) or if it is a problem with kitkat, uninstalled for now

Do your notifications work by default? Like, your stock notifications? Mine didn't, but do with light flow. Weird, no?

I tried another app (Light Manager), and I had the exact same problem. Don't get me wrong, the app is working fine, but once I set everything up and I do a test notification, a white notification keeps flashing even after I turn Light Manager off. The only thing that helps is to disable LED notifications in the Android settings, or to reboot the device.
Something is telling my device that there's a notification, but I don't know how to fix it.

Thanks for the personal reply, andrew! I really appreciate that
However, for some reason my phone keeps flashing this white light, even after I turn off Light Flow. I have to turn off the notification LED in general or reboot my phone for it to stop. The white light notification starts after I do a "missed call test" like described in that link (that works perfectly fine by the way), or after any test I do with Light Flow for that matter. And it doesn't stop no matter how often I clear my notifications.
EDIT: NEVERMIND. Totally forgot that I don't have a sim card yet. That's what was setting off my notifications. Weird though that even after disabling Light Flow it keeps flashing, and weird that it was white instead of cyan like it's supposed to be.

Sorry for wasting your time. I totally forgot I didn't have a sim card so Light Flow was making the LED flash because it thought I had no signal.
Still weird that it keeps flashing even after I disable Light Flow, and that it's white instead of cyan like it's supposed to be.
Anyway, thanks a lot for your help! It works fine right now. I'm not too sure how the cycle thing works yet. I've tried it with a red slow flash for low battery and a green fast flash for whatsapp but the result is the LEDs flashing kinda "through" each other. Naturally, with different flash rates, I guess.
Quick question for people. For the last couple of updates I've been getting quite a lot of reports of certain notification types not working. Hangouts, emails (not gmail), whatsapp etc
I know that all the types that people are having issues with have been using the notification listener (quite a few stock apps don't use it), has anyone else been seeing this. I'm trying to track it down, but I can't recreate it and the beta testers haven't been able to either. Just interested to work out how much of an issue it is as I've never had reports of this before.
Hey Andrew,
I tested the color cycle for textra app, and google voice. I purposely got both notifications with the screen off and waited for the colors to cycle. It started off cycling both colors, but the cycle was not consistent. For example, the colors were red and blue. It would show like this- blue....red....blue..red..blue..red....red....red....red....red
The time between colors was not consistent, then eventually one color took over. I have the setting to 'cycle all - medium' under battery settings. Have not tested under charge settings yet. I am not using the 'highest priority' or 'show latest' options.
This isn't a deal breaker, but would like to bring to your attention.
Thanks!

I use it for WhatsApp, BBM, Hangouts all w/o issue on my stock N5. My only complaint is the perma-notification in the notification tray. Can't seem to get rid of it with any of the options in settings. Wasn't an issue with older versions (I'm using the latest)
Ive been using lightflow on my N5 and it's working well
I have multiple notifications set up - all set for 'permanent' rather than flashing. I have turned EMAIL notifications OFF
however - sometimes, I am not entirely sure when, I notice a white (slightly bluish?) blinking LED. I can't figure out what causes this. I suspect it MAY be email (exchange email, not gmail) - but I am not sure - I can't reproduce consistently.
Also, sometimes when I do a 'test model' on SMS apps, no LED lights up. I've stopped using "SMS Apps" and now am using "Hangouts" as a notification instead and that seems to work
Had 2 hours full wakelock on lightflow this morning -from the minute I unplugged from charge
very strange
Isn't the white light you're seeing the default LED color? Whenever I get a Gmail or Exchange mail it blinks white. I don't have Light Flow installed.
Yes I think it is the standard light. however with lightflow that's not meant to occur.
either way it appears to have stopped now.. not sure how/why!
Try turning off your LED notifications in each program and just have Light Flow control them. That should stop the default white light from showing.

Hey Andrew, Great work on this app. It is fantastic and I was happy to upgrade to the full version.
Just wanted to share that I have the lingering notification scenario also. essentially I get a few notifications and once I clear them out and the screen turns off, the light continues to blink. It is usually the last notification that came in (I have different colours set and I can tell that what sticks is what came in last).
To be honest, I wonder if it is Kit Kat not clearing out the notification and the issue has nothing to do with LF. Interestingly another way to clear the issue is to bump the notification with another real one, and then accept that notification (i.e. light still blinks without any active notification, I call the phone and miss the call, it blinks for the missed call, I clear that, and we are back to normal)
Hope this might have helped.
Anyone able to get the Camera Light LED/flash to work? The one on the back.
I enabled it in setting and I've tried all the other ones not officially supported too with no success.
Also had the notification light not dismissing problems too. But I'm thinking I got it figured out now. Hasn't happened since.

Anyone knows how to turn of screen blinking light?

You can see when my friend sent a message, there's a blue light blinks around the screen. Sometime it's red or green. How to turn it off?
You may check what apps you did install... That's 100% not on stock rom/apps.

You need to be more specific. Are you on a custom ROM or stock? If Stock, which oxygen OS version?
Next question, have you made any modifications such as kernel tweaks, color profile tweaks or anything you think might be detrimental to overall screen performance. That's the first step to troubleshooting(questions), second to that would be playing around to see if its an easy fix and the last step scenario would be providing a logcat (someone experienced should help you handle that).
I just bought it few hours ago, it's stock rom.

Well in OxygenOS. Go to Setting- Display- LED Notification - per app notification. Uncheck for your message app. Done.
Pretty same in Custom roms too.
finally, it's gone. i turned led notification off.
