Ok this is not good ... I just play with this phone at att store and could not get the auto focus to work on cam coder !
Is this normal or att crapable this a well ...
so no one care about it here i guess.
I dont know, I havent attempted to use the camcorder yet. But I've seen video samples that others have taken and posted and they looked pretty good.
I just tried it out and I think I can see it trying to auto-focus on closeup items (like my computer keyboard). I say trying because it's macro focus isn't that great even in camera mode. I then moved it to something about 20ft away and it seemed to focus fine on that.

Hey, how's it going everyone? I am new to these forums, and I have attempted to do some searching around, but I have yet to find a true answer to this problem. So, I love my Samsung Infuse. I just got it roughly a week ago, and I am basically switching from my iPhone 4. An issue that I am having is that I want to be able to take pictures in portrait mode and landscape mode, but the camera doesn't seem to be designed to take pictures in portrait mode, as every picture I take like that, the picture always comes out at some 90 degree angle. Is there any way to really fix this, so that I can take pictures in both modes? Maybe a handy application that I haven't seen in the market? I just want to be able to turn the phone one way and take a picture, which I don't understand why it isn't implemented in the first place. If anyone can help me out, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!
I am not sure if this will help what you are trying to do or if you already tried it. There is a turnwheel kind of icon on 1 of the corners when the camera application is turned on.if you click that, there is a option for scene mode. if you click on that, you will get various options inside. 1 of them is portrait. hope this helps.
^ i dont think that is what the op means.
op you ar eright the previews dont detect the phones prientation, but they show correctly in the gallary so the phone is detecting the orientation. if they are 90deg off when pulled to the computer then it would seem there is a bug in the orientation, i havent tried copying to my computer, nor sure is there is an issue beyond the previews only displaying in landscape mode.
Finally,
Its available now.
Update your skype and enable it from the settings.
By default the Video is "off". So you will need to go the skype settings and enable it from there.
The Quality of the video is not that great but well its a start
I tried it on my G2x running CM7 nightly 151 and couldn't get it to transmit any video -- wouldn't even display locally on my screen in the little window that comes up in the lower left corner. I tried front and back cameras and even disabled video and re-enabled it. Still nothing. It may work on stock and may even work on later nightlies, I dunno. Google Talk video chat works fine for me so maybe Skype requires some updated libs?
Just passing on my experience.
I see that the front camera orientation while video calling is upside down. Anyone to confirm my observation???

I have the same thing going on as you, except I'm on Weapon G2x (2.3.3 Rom), it said skype wasn't 'officially supported' on my phone though. Nice to see it's almost there though
yup....on tweaked stock now...but Camera is upside down...

True, but if you turn the phone in landscape mode the video will be in the correct position.

Not just landscape mode, you gotten disable rotation and zooming to make video work properly? Anyone receive a SMS through carrier while on video chat and and video get distorted? Mines did but MAYBE because I wasn't on wifi, my thought only..
Sent from my LG-P999 using Tapatalk
realized that in a skype conversation. my Phone is now complete!
Just tried it on a Froyo rom and I saw my wife's video feed for like 3 seconds and then it made my phone reboot. So close ... yet so far.
I think one of the android blogs mentioned that it was only good for landscape.
I tested everything on Stock 2.3.3 and the only thing for video to show up correctly is in landscape mode. Leave the auto-rotate checked, it doesn't fix anything. Picture is so-so but at least FFC works which is better than nothing...
Interesting how they rolled it also out to the Nexus One (works and looks great) yet no FFC so what's the point? LOL
Nice! not great but something is better than nothing
The photon's camera is killing me. I can't take macro pictures in shady conditions. This is what happens when I'm trying to take that picture.
-I'm aiming on some surface/object (shady and close).
-Camera sets exposure to brighten the picture.
-I'm tapping the area to focus.
-Flash turns on.
-In split second camera is blinded by flash and aborts focus.
Please someone tell me there is some tweak to make camera wait with flash. I tried many camera apps but only solution I found was constant flash in e.g Camera FV-5. But i'm not satisfied with that.
For example my Samsung Xcover 2 is turning flash on, changes the exposure to not be blinded and focus like a charm.
That is why I use "Focal" as my camera app.
You can turn on the "flashlight" and then focus.
I have never found a similiar good app (focal is not perfect but it is ok) with that "feature".

There is e.g. "Camera FV-5", "lgCamera" and "A Better Camera" with this feature. You can try them and compare with Focal. But me, as I said, I'm not satisfied with that
Thx for the little list.
Anyway, I don't have a better way of focusing.
Maybe this is (also) controlled by the ROM?
It may be possible to add the same procedure like in the Samsung Xcover 5.
(Not for me but for the developers of CM.)
I have noticed this problem a couple month ago but figured only today that I could post here.
So the issue is pretty simple to describe. When recording a movie, the focus moves just a little bit right after I click the record button.
So if get the focus straight before recording, the focus will move and the movie will be blurry.
It seems I can prevent this to happen if I focus manually, hold my finger on screen while I start recording with another finger. But it doesn't work 100%
Am I the only one with this issue? Any idea how to fix it?
When I found this out I was rolling with Chroma, since then I went back to stock but the problem is still there.
Thanks in advance for your help
Nobody?
I noticed a while back that when I take a photo using my text messaging app, it is constantly trying to focus. Yet, when I switch to my actual camera app, it will focus just fine. I would suggest trying a different app. I don't do much video, but I know what you are talking about. Its freaking annoying. Its already focused just fine but then its like it decides to just try again and it takes longer while you're recording. Definitely try a different camera app. There might be one with focus lock or something like that.
Hi everyone,
I'm facing an issue with burst shooting.
When I burst-shoot photos in mid to low light conditions using the HTC stock camera app, I can see that most of the photos (except the first 3-5 photos) are filled with colorful noise all over them...
I'm using an EMEA HTC U11 128GB model with 1.27.401.5 software and camera app v9.20.9740975.
Am I the only one that facing this issue?
Please refer to the attachments to see the problem yourself.
Left image is the third burst-shot and looks OK.
Right image is the fifth burst-shot and looks very grainy (all the burst shots from the 5th and on look like that)
There is nothing wrong with it. Burst mode does not have the noise reduction algorithms which are available in hdr auto mode. Therefore these shots are perfectly normal in bad light conditions. Mine does the same.

When I capture burst shots on the ported google camera app, all photos are looking just fine without all that densed noise so I think you are wrong. You can try it yourself.
Something is very wrong with this feature on stock camera app on my side, I'm sure that it doesn't need to look like that at all.
I see a clear difference between the 3 to 5 first shots and all the rest, it's like they were taken by a different sensor!
I thought you were asking if your phone has a problem or not, so I answered according to what I understood.
It's how the stock camera app is. It needs some updates to fix these issues, there is nothing we can do about it except waiting.
I do believe that google camera is superior to stock app with good settings in almost every condition therefore I use google camera.

Thanks for the clarification.
Meanwhile I will continue to use burst captures only on Google Camera app.
Hope that HTC knows about this issue and trying to fix this as we speak. :fingers-crossed:
