Aloysius 2.1.2 Themes? - Hero CDMA Themes and Apps

Is there any ones that i can flash on my phone??

Go into the sticky themes and mods thread and look at godzons stuff. That worked on aloysius for me.

I made a MM called Kevlar Mash....it should work on the Hero as I made it for Eris but works great with Aloysius as that is the ROM I use. If you do check it out, make sure to nand before applying just on the off chance it doesnt work....but it should

i am using aloysius too. do you have any experience changing the bottom navbar/launcher buttons he uses withe sense launcher? i would like to change them to some custom buttons of my own but when i replacing the image it wasnt flush to the bottom of the screen.
this has lead me to believe that the bottom navbar/launcher buttons actually consist of two images a main button and then an overlay image that rests on top of the main button image, is this correct? if so then is it correct to speculate that what is displayed is just the center overlay image?

That is how I learned from it. Unzip it, see what files are changed, sizes, etc and then change wtih your custom ones. And dont forget to change JsChisurf as he is the one that figured this all out.

Ghetto WM6 Dialer Skins

I modified some of the Windows Mobile 6 dialer skin files to change the appearance. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but it doesn't look like there are any dialer skins for WM6 yet that works 100%. I tried the PaulyA skins, but some of the hardware buttons didn't work right. Anyway since I was doing this for my phone I thought I would see if anybody would be interested in using these as well. I was able to change the background image and buttons. However I was not able to find how to change the size of any of the buttons. Below are some of the screen shots I grabbed. Plus I can list the appropriate files so anybody else can make their own. The only problem I ran into was that whenever I changed the color of a button it gave me those purple corners. So I just need to spend more time in Photoshop to make sure the corners are the exact color the phone needs to make them transparent. But if you make your own buttons then its easier to make the transparent part the correct color.
Opinions?
I'd be all over either of the two black skins you have there...
awesome!!
These look great... ive actually been looking for some dialer skins that work for WM6 i got mb edition running. So what are the files? and if anyone else knows how to make the buttons bigger that would be cool... if u tell me the files.. i can try to edit them in photoshop also. im not a pro.. but i know a thing or two.
I've attached two skins. The Black.zip is the one pictured above that has the white looking rings around the buttons and the Clear.zip has no border. Also the Clear.zip lacks any background. However you can find it in the Black.zip file or use your own.
These two skins are complete and should work in both portrait and landscape modes. Make sure you back up your existing files before hand. You should be able to simply copy the original files directly from the Windows folder on the phone. To install these files on your phone copy them somewhere like your memory card and then use a file utility like Resco File Explorer to overwrite the files in the \Windows\ folder and soft reset.
Here is the list of the files. The naming convention seems to be fairly intuitive. "Port" and "land" designations are obvious. The "up" images are what you see all the time and the "dwn" are what you see when you press them.
--------------------------
dlrback_land.png--------->Background for the dialer*
dlrback_port.png
dlrbtndef_dwn_land.gif--->**
dlrbtndef_dwn_port.gif
dlrbtndef_up_land.gif
dlrbtndef_up_port.gif
dlrbtnend_up_land.gif---->This is the "End" button
dlrbtnend_up_port.gif
dlrbtntalk_up_land.gif---->This is the "Talk" button
dlrbtntalk_up_port.gif
dlrbtn_dwn_land.gif------>The rest of the buttons are the actual number keys
dlrbtn_dwn_port.gif
dlrbtn_up_land.gif
dlrbtn_up_port.gif
*One trick I used for the dialer background was to take the Default_stwater_240_320.gif and Default_stwater_320_240.gif image files from the Windows folder (when using the default theme). Then take them into Photoshop and adjust the color to match your theme. When done save them as dlrback_land.png and dlrback_port.png.
**These dlrbtndef buttons are the ones on the right side that give you your arrow back and speed dial buttons.
I hope that helps. I'd like to see what others come up with.
Any chance of you pulling the files together into .CABs?
Clear and Black CABS
I took the liberty of putting these in a CAB file. You can uninstall these if you don't like them.
I have tested these cabs and they work finr. But I am NOT liable for anything that might happen by using these cabs.
Thanks cyberdrakula! I've never made cab files before.
Flat Black Theme and Dialer
This is one CAB file that has the ALLBlack theme and the black dialer from raceit. You are able to uninstall this if you don't like it and a soft reset thereafter will set it back to default.
If you have installed the CAB file for the DIALERS from the ABOVE POST, PLEASE UNINSTALL IT BEFORE INSTALLING THIS CAB.
This is a BETA release as I still have to figure out why the black background won't set on the reset the first time. The FIX is to select the Allblack theme on "settings/today". You might have to select another theme and and select the AllBlack.
The Dialer graphics are from Raceit and the AllBlack theme is from somewhere in this forum I forget where.
No warranties or guarantees given for anything and I am NOT liable for anything that might happen to you device or should you have a flat tire after installing this CAB.
I wanted to throw up a few more complete dialer skins. Please check the post below for the zip files. (I seriously need to learn to make cab files.)
Here's the dialer skins pictured above.
Here's my first attempt at a cab file. This is the Black v2 in a cab form. Please let me know if this works and I can update the last few I zipped up.
Thanks.
Edit: The Black v2 is on the bottom of the first page in cab form...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1154824&postcount=10
Here's my personal modification that's similar to the blue one Raceit pictured in his first post (4th picture). I wanted a dialer skin that matched the rest of WM6. I tried to match the buttons as close to the taskbar as I could.
Looks nice BBowermaster! What do you guys think of this one? It seemed like a good idea, but I think it still needs something more.
WM6 Theme/Dailer (Wizards/HERMES)
I have created these a Theme & Dailer cab. I am going to do somemore dark themes as I am into them. Any ideas or requests are welcome. Raceit, you're a BAD BAD person as you've got me started on this and it is taking away from a couple of apps (business related) I was working on for myself.
Tested on Wizards & HERMES
-------------------------------
The main dailer graphics I used to create this were Raceit's clear dailer files. The main reason I turned this into a cab was for it to be able to uninstallable in case you want to.
I still have to figure out why the theme won't set on the reset the first time. The FIX is to select the cyberdrakula theme on "settings/today". You might have to select another theme click OK go back & re-select the cyberdrakula theme again.
No warranties or guarantees given for anything and I am NOT liable for anything that might happen to you device or should you have a flat tire after installing this CAB.
Can someone please make a cab of Raceit's blue dialer? I would be very thankful.
I just updated my post on the first page for the blue skin so its a cab file now.
Sorry about that Cyberdrakula!!
Hey people, what reg keys and dlls are concerned with skinning the dialpad and pin entry pad??
I wish I knew. Although a member that goes by the-equinoxe asked about a tapres.dll file. I don't know if he's on to something or not.

White Background
Any idea why my background is staying white, I have tried several different cabs and even copied the black background, but it stays white. The background files are black, dlrback_land.png and dlrback_port.png, so I don't know what is going on.

Couple questions... Is it also white when you switch the phone to landscape mode? Also if you browse to your Windows folder and open up those two files are they the correct looking images or all white?

Change color of top and bottom of screen?

I've tricked out my screen with all black (very clean and elegant), but I still have teal-colored strips at the top and bottom of my screen (top: where Start and system icons are; bottom: where soft keys are).
Can someone tell me how to change the color of these parts of the screen?
Thanks in advance.

Faded Rosie Metamorph

Took me way longer than it should of to do this (I am no graphic artist/designer), but I wanted it. For stock rosie only. Does not show up well against a dark background. I still want to improve it for the button presses, but it's a start.

Sorry about the lack of screen shot, was in a hurry. Here ya go.
By the way, this will not change your task bar or mess up your live wallpapers with sense or change anything else.
edit: I haven't tested, but in theory this should replace espresso to look like this, since I used trev's stock rosie replacement as a learning tool. so credit to trev for his help, even if he didn't know it.

i'm surprised about the lower resolution gripe cause i used higher resolution ones then the stock aosp
but thanks for the feedback
and as for the charging icon i assume you mean the one on the left (for switching between disc/charging) yeah i need to fix that
off topic note the search buttons look out of place when hitting the search button
Perhaps they got screwed over when the os tried down-sampling them itself?
Fadakar: I'm not seeing any difference whatsoever. Can you ss it?
good job. this looks awesome. glad you threw this together. I personally am allergic to anything resembling stock and i also had darchs aosp setups on hero, so its nothing new to me. i like a completely new experience. However i know theres a **** ton of aosp junkies that will love this. thanks

You paste the same crap in EVERY thread. XDA should add the mod to allow users to ban other users by paying. Make money and clean out the crap threads.
I'd pay for a 2 year ban on that magnus dude just for making ugly themes.
Kinda harsh guys. But he should stay on topic.
Love the AOSP look. Just enough to hold me over until someone can make a full rom of it. Thanks!
Thanks
Added to themes in sticky thread.. Well done, thanks for sharing
failed to install via Amon_RA recovery. switching to clockwork to see how that fairs
edit: installed with clockwork i didn't wip anything maybe i should've wiped cache had a weird boot loop going would make it to lock screen and then restart
edit2: my sdcard was bad which impacted the system after fastbooting back to amons recovery and the nand backup i had there verified through my disk utility that the card was bad >_<
Good job...This is really cool!
a picture with htc sense and this theme would be nice i wanna c the taskbar with sense thanks

Anyone using this with DamageControl? Which version did you flash?
okay so an update to everyone who said that the icons were low res the system was using the wrong set of icons the 25x25 so i updated the package with flipz lock to contain the 38x38 icons
and later tonight i will upload the other one along with one with a clear lockscreen
still in the search bar the icons are dark when i switched them for the lighter ones every time i would hit search it would restart my phone so i gotta look into that some more
that should be about it
oh and sence still has the scroll page indicator but the espresso dock so it doesn't look great might revert back to stock sence if i have the time sorry
recommended with other launchers
i love this theme but for some reason when i get an email or message the icons on the taskbar have a black square around them instead of just being the message icon or the gmail icon

[MOD][PORT][THEME] Notification Menu Power Control Widgets for Sense - 3.70 - THEMES!

First of all, major thanks to JsChiSurf for his amazing work on this port!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877003
This is a separate thread for themes of this mod.
I've always wanted a clean, slick looking shade on the notifications pull down and thanks to JsChiSurf, it's pretty easy to theme it.
Here are two that I made today. I haven't gotten around to skinning the buttons yet though.
Try these, static images don't do them justice, it's neat seeing the way they move. For more details on flashing these, please refer for JsChiSurf's thread above. These already contain the updated 2.1.1 services jar.
After zipping, you can use this:

to restore your battery %. Thanks chogardjr!

Is it just a matter of replacing the PNG's?
What PNG optimization do you recommend?
Also, how do you change the color of the fonts? I tried to look at the xml files but they open up as strange characters in any text editor I use (Notepad++, notepad, etc)
I also noticed that I lost my battery % after flash jschisurf's mod?
Thanks for your faith! The hardest part is knowing where all the PNG's are that need to be replaced!
Replacing png's is the noob way to do it. But is is the best place to start. You need to find apktool and learn how to use it. This will solve most of your problems with xml's. You also need a program called xml editor. This is my starters list. Here is a link you might learn a lot from.
http://developer.android.com/guide/developing/tools/index.html
As far as learning which png's, most are in the drawable-hdpi folder. Stay away from .9.png files untill your ready for them. Apktool will let you know when you make a mistake and where the mistake is to fix. Search youtube and do a lot of reading in this forum. It seems like a lot but after a while you will start to understand how the OS works and manages the files. Happy Themeing!

Go to the sticky where the rom wiki is and at the bottom of that page you will find kitchens. One is for changing battery icons. That one is the easy fix to getting the icons you want into the his mod. But if you must know more, there are 3 xml files in the drawable folder that needs to be replaced to work with more png files than his stock ones. All I can say is APKTOOL and 7ZIP is the bread and butter.
Thanks for the awesome tips and info!
I found the .png for the toggle switches (stat_power_background.9.png) and yea, it must be some kind of special PNG cuz I measured it out to be 80x75 but rendered incorrectly.
Sweet, looking forward to learning more about Android!
BTW, just finished looking over that Android page and is this the APKTool you're referring to?

I found the website: FWI use v1.3.1 as v1.3.2 has bugs
http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour...8j1-bcnOf1Rz8k9fA&sig2=4MkcxzG_ROaqAr4-tWwlGw
As stated, just changing the .png's is the starting way of theming. Just make sure you do a nandroid backup before you go around messing with anything.
When you get comfortable with that, the next step is to look into XML. XML is generally easy to learn but can be complicated at parts. I don't really know of a good starting guide to XML for android but I'll post one if I see it.
NinePatches (*.9.png) aren't as complicated as people think. Once you get the concept of it, they are actually pretty easy. I'm creating a guide for it when I have time. But the basic concept is:
The NinePatch tool ads a 1px border to an image.
The new border can be colored black (except the 4 corners).
The left and top borders defines the stretchable area.
The right and bottom borders defines where content is allowed.
Like I said, I'm making a guide to it which will explain it better and have pictures.

I tried the 9patch app and it's pretty easy to use (I have experience with Illustrator and Flash). However, when I replace the original 9path file w/the new one, it shows the 1 px border on my android. Also, it seems to scale it wrong. I attached an example of what I'm talking about. I measured the bkg of the power toggles to be 80x75, but on the Android, it shrinks the graphic and you can see the 1 pixel border?
Looking forward to that guide!

are you talking about the background of the icons or the entire power area?
the background of the icons look fine to me even zoomed in.
if your trying to make the entire power area be the caution image, then there is an xml edit involved in res/layout-hdpi-v4/status_bar_expanded.xml. ill give you the exact change you need if you cant figure it out.
just keep in mind that ninepatch will only stretch images, not repeat.

ahh ok, i wasn't sure how the background of that area worked. so there's a background png and a background png for each widget?
i found this png: stat_power_background.9.png
which other one is for the background of the entire thing?
about the extra 1 pixel showing, you can see on the sides of the background a black vertical line. on 9patch png's, is the 1 px border that defines the 9patch actually supposed to show? i think there might be something wrong with my 9patch png's.
also, if you look at the screen cap again, there's horizontal white space above and below the toggle widget bkg graphics. is there a way to make them larger so they cover the white space? seems like android likes to shrink them to that size (in the screen cap) no matter how tall the image is.

i found this png: stat_power_background.9.png
which other one is for the background of the entire thing?
about the extra 1 pixel showing, you can see on the sides of the background a black vertical line. on 9patch png's, is the 1 px border that defines the 9patch actually supposed to show? i think there might be something wrong with my 9patch png's.
also, if you look at the screen cap again, there's horizontal white space above and below the toggle widget bkg graphics. is there a way to make them larger so they cover the white space? seems like android likes to shrink them to that size (in the screen cap) no matter how tall the image is.

Well theres a solid color using a ARGB hex (for the background of the power control area) and a png for each icon background by default. you can set it up so there is an image for each.
the stat_power_background.9.png controls each icon (as you may have guessed already)
i'm not sure why the power control area isnt a solid color.
when in the ninepatch editor, you are supposed to see the black extra pixel but when you load it on your phone, they should dissappear. i honestly dont see them in the ss you provided.
can you send me the framework-res.apk you are working on so i can see if everything is set up correctly?
