Is there any reason why I can't find any players that can stream media from my server?
UPnP is a rather well known standard, isn't it?
Hi mate,
Use PocketPlayer from Conduits. Google search. It has a plugin for UPNP. Works Perfectly, though I couldn't get video streaming to work but great for audio.
Hope that helps

I am running Serviio on Ubuntu 11.04, and the Transformer is seeing it in MyNet. I can browse pictures and listen to music. But I can't play any AVIs. Does anybody have a profile for Serviio that works with the device? If so, please post the XML section.
BTW, my XBox 360 sees Serviio and plays the pictures, music and AVIs perfectly.
I believe it's because of the native video app. Many people suggest using a combination of UPnPlay + Moboplayer or using Plex. I'm currently using the former and it works well for me. I'm using a ReadyNAS to host all my media.
This is the one thing I do enjoy about my Captivate is the native DLNA app and its ability to play a variety of videos.
Yup. Upnp + Moboplayer plays my AVIs. Thanks!

No problem. I'm glad it worked for you too.
Looking for a solution to stream my huge FLAC collection to my Android devices, with or without transcoding. Looking to use Logitech's revue, or some low power embedded Linux box. Streaming should be possible over the Internet, not just LAN. Any suggestions?
Check out Subsonic .. works great with flac

Thanks, I've been trolling their forums for a while now Can you suggest a particular NAS to install Subsonic on (hopefully under $150)? Also, I think Subsonic needs Java, hence may have hefty HW requirements. Do you stream FLACs with or w/o transcoding? How does your NAS hold up to on-the-fly transcoding?
I've also been looking at Twonky (my E4200 router is supposed to have a Twonky media server, only Linksys smartasses managed to ruin it in the latest firmware), MPD, Plex, Tversity and Chumby. Anyone care to comment on any of these?
I have been using WD My Book live which also has twonky media server in it. I use the free bubbleUpnp for streaming audio/video from the NAS, which it does perfectly. Flacs too play very well.
Strangely I could not get the paid Twonky mobile client app to stream my flac files from my NAS!

Does bubbleUpnp stream onto the Internet as well, or just the LAN?
Hello,
I got my surface on launch day and I love how easy the DLNA streaming implemented I can even stream skype to to my TV during video calls. However, seems there's no way to stream videos (I think streaming photos works) from IE10 to other devices? Does anyone have a solution? If not, is there any app that I can "share" the video (mainly from Youtube) on the IE to so that I can stream it to my TV from the app?
Thanks!
Hello guys,
What are your recommendations for streaming applications that allows me to watch video on my android devices.
I prefer the app to have a wide support of video formats. Bonus if it does Audio streaming also.
Thank you

I run ps3 media server on my PC for DLNA, then install BubblePnP on my android to stream the DLNA which plays through MX Player. Works perfectly.
Gotta use DLNA if you want to stream 720 or 1080. You cant use SAMBA its too slow.
- please Click Thanks if i helped.
I love BS player for this..also has lot of features like playing from YouTube, vid formats etc..it has good WiFi streaming performance as well, you just have to share the folder on PC and open file thru bsplayer ..very easy..
thanks for the suggestions, I will give them a shot.
I was aiming for something like installing a software on the pc and then installing an app that will allow me to browse the pc and stream my content.
