A question: what is difference between versions???
Edit: ok, i had read info on the your site

are the ads during the video? If so I think this app is more then worth $10, if not then i'll just get the Free version?

many thanks for the author!!!

Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App

Pretty non-obtrusive ads for us in countries without a paid market, good call by developers.
Been using the leaked alpha up until now, but replaced it with this version

Could somebody explain to me why this app needs permission to read phone state and identity (heading: phone calls).
Seems odd...but curious!

The beta was cool as fook, but now the audio lags then catches up. Joke app now...
Reverted to mplayer as i don't have avi's anyway, and has brightness memory, cool

So it knows when you are getting a call so it can pause the video.

Does anyone know if the paid version has the R logo, or is that removed, along with ads, when you pay the $10?
I used the alpha without the R logo until now, but this looks better (better scaling mainly), though the R is a deal-breaker for me.

App has been updated to fix lag issues.

The paid version does not have the red R logo

I don't understand why they can't just have a Paid Version on the market....
*LIGHT BULB*
They want to take full profit from the sale instead of letting Google handle the transaction..
I for one want to support them since I've been using their Beta version
HOWEVER!!!!!... Since it is only registered to the Phone IMEI... *since they are trying to avoid Google Tariffs..... Switching Phones will require you to purchase it again....
I FOR ONE WILL NOT BUY IT OUT OF PRINCIPLE.... What I pay for should be a global one time payment... knowing myself. I will get the *Nexus Two* and follow Google assuming they don't switch Manufacturers.. *COUGH* MOTOROLA SUCKS

OK...
this is crap, or I am stupid
1. i have a few *.m4v videos that show up in the lists of stock player and mVideoPlayer, but don't show up in RockPlayer (although RockPlayer can play them, when i un-check "show media files only" (so that EVEN RockPlayer can see them... and click them in RockPlayer...)
2. when i am in a file explorer, and click on *.m4v the pop up window only offers choice of stock player and mVideoPlayer
3. The option "use as system player" doesn't seem to have an effect.
4. Rockplayer does not offer a consolidated list of videos on its home GUI?????????? I have to click through my file system to find all my videos individually????
5. paypal payment method.... no way to refund???????
... why again is this better than mVideoPlayer???

I have uninstalled the software and have no intention to use it ever again.
Just as I expected my refund request to PayPal was declined by the seller.
In his response to my refund request he didn't even comment on any of my complaints, just provided a simple "i am sorry to hear it" and an explanation of what "use RockPlayer as system player" means (= using the phone's hardware acceleration (not sure whether it's true or not).
Exactly what posters above are worried about: if you are not satisfied, you have no way to refund and for every new phone you would have to acquire a new license because the license is hooked to the phone's ID.
I strongly advise against using the PayPal scheme
i have escalated to PayPal, because I have already uninstalled and since I am not using the software would like to have a full refund.

Paypal will refund you mate im sure,
I think its very underhanded of this company (if its a company and just not a small time dev) to not refund you...
I would not enter into any transactions outside of Google Market as your totally protected.
I would also tell everyone to avoid this app like the plague, and install Mvideo player, its about a thousand times better....
If your bothered about AVI playback, just convert, simples

does it recognize *.avi file as media file? or do you have to disable "show only media files" to see it?
does the audio lag come back when you scroll forward or backward?
mmh... does it show all video media files at start up page, or do we still have to manually sift through our file structure to find the videos individually?

I just put in the root of the SDCARD 2 avi's that have been encoded using xvid. 1 sample of a DVDSCR and another a full length movie.. Both files showed up fine and played excellent! Didnt have to look at other options.
Yes audio lag both forward and back, but comes back soon after
what ROM are you running? Maybe update? Im on stock non root

Kinoma Play on Its Way to Being Best WinMo App Ever?

If you've previously written this app off for S2P or what have you, I suggest you check out the latest update to the software.
It's no longer JUST a media player. It's becoming more like an iPod Touch built into your WinMo phone. Check out the Facebook, Twitter and RSS apps built into it. The new like-an-iPhone-but-better interface (for the full effect, fill 4 pages of icons. Yep. Pages aren't just side-by-side, but above and below.) Plus, it has an program launcher which allows you to add your favorite apps to the home screen, along with your favorite music/video feeds and podcasts.
All it needs is a clock, weather and notifications and it's Kinoma FTW. If they take it as far as adding contacts, email and SMS, I'll never look at my today screen again.
I use a shortcut in Kinoma to iContact, another to my gmail inbox and yet another to SMS... sadly, the lack of a clock doesn't allow me to replace SPB MS3 with Kinoma, but I'd like to
Honestly, it IS the best WinMo app out there.. very very impressive.
How does it handle its core function - media? Last time I checked it out it couldn't do bookmarks well or play .avi files. Has that changed?
It's still pretty useless as a Video Player (laggy and no avi support) but for just playing music with a quick, slick repsonsive interface it's great. The added funtionality more than makes up for the lack of Video, use Coreplayer or TCMP for that. I've posted a Youtube clip on this thread of it running along side TF3D on my Touch pro 2.

Sorry, but you are going to have to pay for the full version if you want all the features. And you are complaining that they offered you a way to get it for free? Really?
The freeplay version is FREE, no time limits, and has many of the features of the paid version. But I dont know if it has been updated like the paid version yet.
I actually used the TrialPay to get RealNetworks (yuk) to pay for my copy. I was glad I didn't have to shell out my own $30, but it would have been worth it even if I had. Photos, music, YouTube, Orb, Audible, Streaming radio, audio and video podcasts in one app. And now they added Facebook and Twitter, and an RSS reader. The program is not perfect, but its getting close.

For anybody interested in Kinoma Play who hasn't checked out TrialPay: There's lots of different kinds of offers, so the odds a pretty good that you'll find one that's interesting for you. We've had lots of people "buy" Kinoma Play for free since we introduced it as an option, and so far it seems to be a win-win for customers.

Tried the free version quite awhile back. At the time, wasn't interested in paying $30 then. Looks more tempting now. I've also been wanting to try Audible.com, so I signed up with them via TrialPay. Waiting for the Kinoma registration, but TrialPay seems like a great idea if you can find something you're interested in "trying" out.
Charles,
Any chance of having trialpay working in China as at the moment it is not working. So hope you could look into it.
Thanks.
Hmm... The TrialPay process must be a bit delayed due to the US holiday, still waiting on the registration. Will be patient, it's a good deal.
In the mean time, loaded up the latest Freeplay version. It has improved a lot since the last time I tried it!

I paid the $30 for the full version, but to be honest I'm disappointed.
No AVI support is huge. I don't think its Kinoma's place to make a user code a video a certain way before it is played.
The app store has the same apps you can get anywhere else and most of them are not free.
The skin is not very visually appealing.
It takes to long to launch.
I think it would be good for social web apps but I don't tweet or use Facebook so, to me it's useless.
I have a music player already.
It's sits in a forgotten cab in my PC.
I already uninstalled it from my mobile device.

I paid as well, but this is easily my biggest complaint. PLEASE add avi support!
It also does not autoresume where you last listened to a playlist or folder when restarting the app. So if you quit you must remember which song you were up to(my playlist is about 2000 songs). I went back to pocketplayer.

Xvid Playback?

Try "yxflash" from the market. It claims to be able to play WMV, DivX & Xvid... Haven't tried it myself though.
It's a $19.99 app that has to be purchased outside the market though... I don't like the way they're trying to conduct business.
Try meridian from the market. Haven't tested xvid yet but seems to play things otherwise built in on my mytouch couldn't haven't gotten that far.

Yea. They're kinda shady since they call it free then charge you to use it.
I'm guessing, if it does actually work, he doesn't want some rooted dirtbag downloading and refunding to add to the plethora of pirated apps. I haven't seen the app yet, but I figure if allows google checkout, it should be as safe as any other purchase via google checkout.
isn't there a samsung android phone with divx support builtin? I'm pretty sure I read that some where. Wonder if someone is working on some sort of port...
there are two android phones which play divx/xvid out of the box. one from samsung and the other from lg. getting the drivers/media player ported from either of these phones would be a big plus from me. i know i could convert media before hand, however i use my memory card as a "memory stick" which i bring in to work to watch on the PC during lunch. being able to play the same files on the phone when i'm on the bus/train would be so much easier.
try doubletwist if you're on Windows/Mac... no linux version yet
it will convert them to play on android by just dragging them over to the device...
I can confirm that yxflash works on my G1. I just download a divx movie (about 700 mb) and play it. Unfortunately the frame rate is about 15 f/s. Hope on Nexus One it will be much better.

Still too expensive for my opinion, but hey, they come from the apple universum where all have too much money.
Now this post isnt going to be of much use because i couldnt find all the links i was after..... however
There were people requesting the samsung xvid/divx player be ported out back on the G1. Seems that one of XDA's members lbcoder has some decent incite on it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=566591&highlight=divx
He posted
divx is just an implementation of iso mpeg4.
So...
to make it play you need to;
1) ensure that bitrate and resolution are low enough to be properly handled,
2) package it in a compatible container (mp4 works)
3) ensure that the AUDIO is encoded in a compatible manner (vorbis is great, but others also work, mp3, aac, etc.)
4) ensure that there is no crap in the file showing that it is divx because it simply doesn't know what divx *IS* -- make it read as mpeg4 -- this does NOT require reencoding the file, just using a SANE header.

I thought $10 wasn't bad. It plays awesome on the N1. It takes me 10 minuted to download a Divx movie, but 30 mins to convert. Over the course of several months, I would save a ton of time converting movies. I can download directly to the SD card via browser and play with yxflash.
Yes, having to purchase outside the market is shady, but I have contacted them several times with issues and they resolved them within one day.
Found the app via market at first glance i thought nah **** it because of the bad rating.. at second glance i actually took the time to read the comments, turns out most of the comments where bad/laggy playback, witch was partly due to Magic / Heros hardware, and the resizing requirements..
ive installed the trial, and it plays beautifully.. although sometimes i do get some lines across the screen, but they are hard to notice...
Price is still a bit high thou! :/ im gonna give it a month or two to see if a cheaper alternative shows up, and hopefully by that time Google will have opened up the market in Denmark.
used yxflash to play an hd copy of ice age 3 in xvid, ran nearly perfect, every so often there is some frame skip

[REQ]Zune media player, possible or not

Now I am no dev but I was wondering if it would be possible to create a media player that can sync with the desktop zune software and have a similar UI that plays all my protected content. I love my zune hd but part of the reason I bought this phone is so I only need to carry one device for all my multimedia needs. If this is possible ad there are any devs willing to work I would gladly make a donation of $50-$100 for a working app
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I would wager 10x that amount that it will never happen..
I have a ZuneHD and f*ckin love it. However, Microsoft won't do it because thats one of the big draws for WP7, and we can't do it because there is no code to base it on. It's all Microsoft's protected content.
However, there is one option. I don't think its against any XDA rules to post this, and if it is I'll remove it, but I won't put links anyway. Just look up Daniusoft Digital Media Converter. I know it's expensive, ~$50 I think, but I bought it, and it's totally worth it. I have gotten way more use than that out of it. It'll let you convert your Zune Pass music to MP3 and then you can sync it to your Android with Doubletwist & the like. I know it's more work, but it does work.

But at that point, why not just download torrents with higher quality music? I mean, you could make the argument I guess that you have a right to that music even though you are explicitly only renting it .? ?.? . Save the 50 dollars and just join a good private torrent site like what or waffles.
Also, to the OP, if you only want to carry the Epic 4g for all of your multimedia needs, why do you need it to sync with the Zune software? I assume its because of the zune pass?

I don't know. I find this easier than torrent sites TBH. I'm a lazy ass, and I paid for convenience lol. This way it keeps all the metadata, and I don't have to sort it manually, and I do feel better in that I did actually pay for the music in one way or another.
I don't subscribe to zunepass or anything, I just have a lot of songs and movies I've paid for and would like them on my phone, and TBH I really like the zune media player interface

For a zune interface, they do have a zune home replacement launcher but it's pretty awful. Really if you want the zune media interface get a windows phone 7... what you're asking for is foolish to be frank.
If you paid for movies and music, it should be drm free, then just transfer it to your sd card. Its what I do.

Not sure how you could call it foolish? It is widely accepted that the zune hd has a great interface. It is also very simple and would be fairly easy for an android developer to make a clone of it. The fact that no one has is pretty surprising. Hooking in drm and zunepass is obviously not gonna fly with ms but that is not what the op wants, and that is not needed. If someone made a fluid zune clone for the marketplace and sold it for a few bucks a I bet they could make a killing.

[Q] How do we not have enhanced podcast (.m4a) support on Android yet?

Is there something specific to the platform that is preventing enhanced .m4a support on Android? As far as I can see from scouring the internet, it looks like we don't have a single media player that supports the enhanced features of chaptering and embedded images offered by enhanced .m4a files. This is supported in every apple device, if I am not mistaken.
Any ideas?
Found One!
In case anybody is interested, somebody on reddit came through for me:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.akimbo.abp.trial&feature=search_result
Akimbo is an audiobook reader that handles .m4a chaptering and images pretty perfectly. Their library setup is a ****ty mess, but it has otherwise been strong so far.
yes this one works........ nearly.
The enhanced podcasts I use have several differant images per chapter, and the player moves onto the next image only at the next chapter so come the 2nd chapter it is several images behind.
.m4a files play just fine on the stock music player of my LG vortex, and the blur'd music player of the DX2. where are you encountering issues playing .m4a file?
the audio playback is fine on every player its the images encoded into the podcast that dont display properly

Same issue here. I want to access enhanced podcasts from Coffee Break Spanish but I couldn't. Those podcasts also have multiple images per chapter.
I'm very interested in this as well. I've been using Pocket Casts which is a great player but doesn't support the contextual images and links.
My example Specifically is the "Rooster Teeth Podcast".
On my old iPhone the embedded images displayed perfectly in apps like Downcast and the native iTunes Player had functional Live links some of the time.
I'm desperately searching for one, but I've had no luck.
has anyone had any luck yet with this one? I am thinking about using my old hd2 just for m4a playback
I asked the developer of Pocketcasts about this. And it seems they're missing the tools to make this.
" We've been looking into it, but that format is a proprietary Apple standard that no one else has support for. So our iOS app supports it out of the box, because Apple has the developer tools for us to do that. On Android Google don't, and we've yet to find a third-party library we can use that does, which leaves us stuck. So short story: yes we'd love to, but we don't think we can."
Bummer.

On Android Google don't, and we've yet to find a third-party library we can use that does, which leaves us stuck. So short story: yes we'd love to, but we don't think we can."
Bummer.

The feature is supported by VLC on the desktop (and likely other open source desktop apps). Handbrake also supports it; it can encode the chapter data into m4v files. In reading about it, it seems like the chapter data is simply encoded into the file in plaintext. I don't know how easy or hard it is to read that data on Android, but it definitely seems do-able (seeing as how the above 2 open source apps do it).
Any update on this?

I've had no joy. I have tried most new players added to the marketplace.
I don't believe that windows mobile has one up over android ??
It seems like Podcast Republic does the job ? unfortunately is has some bugs on my LG G3, like background play doesnt work, and rotating the devices skips chapters :silly:
Hopefully it will be resolved in a newer version.

This app is absolutely useless.!!! It has NO idea about chapters, let alone that there ARE chapters in the podcast....
I'm so vukking fed-up with Android's incompetence!!!!
The only way to even remotely use chapters is to play AAC files with an accompanying CUE sheet with PowerAmp...

How to Download Google access music and thoughts!

So you may have Google access music as many of us do. Wouldn't it be great to be able to download Google access music in 320 KBS straight to your computer and not have any complications... If only if only...
But wait! Its possible!
All you need it Google access and you're good to go. Simply go onto your computer, and go to a website called songspout.com
There you will download the application and run it. Stream a Google access track and look at the bottom of the screen. It may take about 10 seconds or so but you may see a little Download looking button where you can download the track you are currently steaming. After that, go to your music and there it is! And if you don't believe its in 320 KBS then just right click on it, properties, details and there ya go. This is wonderful.
Unfortunately, you can only download 5 songs at a time before you're prompted to buy it for 9.99. What are peoples thoughts on this?? Please try it first before giving your thoughts.
Why?
Forgive me if I sound stupid, but since Google Play offers the ability to download any of the songs that you previously uploaded to Google Play, as well as any song you purchased from Google Play, isn't this unnecessary?

Well actually, the google music app only stores a cache of a song. This allows you to do as you well with it such as put it on iTunes for use with an iPhone or iPod or the sort. Or, you can reupload it to google play. What I do is upload it to iTunes and then use winamp to sync it to my device's external SD card where I can play my music in whatever music app of my choice and not just the Google music app. Basically, for those who don't see a benefit to this, you are paying a monthly service plus a one time 9.99 fee for unlimited legal music downloads.

Your missing the point, this software allows you to permanently download (at 320kbps) unlimited music from google's enormous 20mil+ song library. Songs that you don't currently have in your library (purchased or otherwise), but only if you have a current all access subscription. This software is a no-brainer as you get unlimited high quality music.
Anyone else tried this out yet? found a YouTube of this app, the elevator music is pretty lame but it shows the functionality none the less.
I tried it. Didn't buy it yet

I ended up grabbing this up to for $10 too... but wont be canceling my all access pass anytime soon! Actually its the only reason I have not canceled and as long as I can save songs like this I won't cancel.
Android Version
Is there an App for android that will do this?
Song Spout Support is GONE
I just purchased Song Spout yesterday. It worked for 24 hours and then asked me to purchase again. I have tried to contact the developer at his support email and his billing email and have received a bounce back on each address. I have also tried to contact his billing web page but it just times out. I think song spout is dead. I wouldn't recommend anyone spending the money unless you can contact the developer first. Looks to me like he closed shop. I hope we get some feedback from the developer or get an alternative solution.
yes, today it isn't working, that's correct. Also the Website is somehow not working properly (php).
I have also contacted them earlier this morning, no reply yet. But to me the email did not bounce!
I contacted them twice earlier already, because of an issue that some songs are not being downloaded, but never got a reply. So the support is NOT existant.
Anyway, maybe it's just a temporary issue, and they have just to restart their webserver and database, and it will work again then. Let's hope so.
I am wondering how that application works, it seems that the Google Play Music stream is done using flash, and somehow that Soungspout managed to save it removing the DRM.
Song Spout Up and Running
Song Spout is back up and running. I received an email from support that there were server issues. I have tested it this morning and all is well. This is great software and I am really glad it is back online.
I use the software regularly and works great. I am in the US. I know sometimes there are country restrictions so anyone outside of the US that are looking for specific tracks only available here, let me know.
Songspout support
I bought Song spout in Oct 2013. It worked great until about 2-3 weeks ago. Now I can't download most songs.
Emailed support, but my emails are returning error messages - the developer may be MIA.
It wasn't a ton of money, but I'm still disappointed that we can't get basic support after such a recent purchase.
Anybody know how to reach the developer?
-A
Works great!
Bought today, works perfectly. Although you have to keep an eye on it as it can get stuck on some songs.
Not "perfectly"

Well, it's not working "perfectly" if it gets stuck on some songs.
But I agree it still works pretty well most of the time.
The getting stuck part, though, is an issue I would have liked some feedback on from the developer.
Meanwhile, I've been using MusicMate on my android. It is a major update to the old Cloud Music Importer, and works very well. Doesn't get stuck. Also costs less than Song Spout. I import those files straight into Audipo so I can slow down and loop portions for guitar practice.
Still, wondering the Song Spout developer is still around and supporting the product. I feel that as long as he's taking the money, he ought to reply to support emails.
Yeah I couldn't get any reply from the developer, I only found I had this sticking problem when I was trying to download non all access files.
Just limiting it to songs added from all access it worked great. Didn't know about Music Mate that works great aswell.

It's not working now
It was working pretty well but now it's impossible to search the songs that you would like to download. I don't know what's the problem but I tried to contact support and I don't have any response. :crying:

The latest update in Song Spout fixed all the issues that I was having even got a reply e-mail today.
Does Music Mate allow you to download songs from the all access catalog like Song Spout? Or does it just grab the songs that are in your library? I would check it out but my acer is acting foolish atm.
