h.264 issue

Hi, new to the forums, and couldn't find an "omnia" section, so I guess this is the place to post this.
I just got an omnia and I am having a hell of a time trying to get it to play video.
I have tried:
tcpmp.pocketpc.0.72rc1.cab
tcpmp-0.72rc1-arm-ppc-recomp-03.cab
TCPMPMediaPlayer0.81RC1Beta.cab
divxplayer_PPC_0
coreplayer v1.2.5
coreplayer v1.3
and the instructions listed here http://www.pspmyspace.com/omnia/2008/11/watch-youtube-videos-on-samsung-omnia.html (theres a thread on this site with same post, just links didnt work...)
Long story short, I would love to watch the shows I download that are in mp4 format on this phone, its a big reason I picked this one.
Most of the time, I get errors back to the general extent of "cant play h.264" (even after load h.264.cab). Depending on which version I am using above, I sometimes get the crash.txt on TCPMP, or on the ARM-PPC version, it crashes when I try to open the file.
Any help is REALLY appreciated.
Thanks
*UPDATE*
I did get some video working using the 4 part steps provided in the link above. After some testing, .avi videos I have from 2005 and earlier seem to play no problem. newer .avi and .mp4 still refuse to play though.
I am unsure what could be causing this, but I assume its newer codecs that were used in these videos. Does anyone have any ideas here?
Dunno' how bumping is viewed on this board, but since i'm 3 pages back now, can anyone help with this?
Thanks
I think if you install Flash Lite 3, it should work as long as you view the video in PC/Desktop mode.
You are talking about ONLINE youtube videos right?
Unless it's incompatible with Omnia, although Omnia is WinMo.....it should work for you tube.
Just install the .cab
And open opera, and go to youtube
And click on view in Desktop/PC Mode
Then click on a video.
Update: I didn't read the MP4, AVI part. LOL Sorry.
Have you purchased a full version of Core Player Mobile? I had a symbian phone, for example, and I installed a cracked Core Player Mobile, and it couldn't play the videos or it couldn't install. So I bought the real full latest version and it worked miracle. I am not sure if it is just as good in WinMo though

RockPlayer: First public beta available

We released first public beta of RockPlayer just several minutes ago.
RockPlayer can play most kinds of video files including avi, mkv, rmvb, flv, mp4, 3gp, wmv, mov, asf, divx, xvid, and h264 formats. This version supports android versions from 1.6 to 2.2. It requires an armv6 or armv7 CPU with vfp instruction set. Sorry G1/Magic/Hero users, your phone's CPU didn't have vfp.

Please also note this is a beta version and would expire on July 15.
Thanks for support.
Thats great news
When I try to adjust the volume it does it for the ringer and not the video MOST the time, but not all the time. I usually have to hit play and pause a bunch and then do the volume to adjust the media volume. Using the motorola droid.
Thanks will go and give it a try

You can only adjust media volume while media is playing. If it's paused there's no volume to adjust.
Loving the beta so far.
Bandwidth exceeded. Is there a mirror?
You can download it here.
Does anybody know if this play .asx files? I want to use it with orb
thanks in advance
The July 15 expiration can be removed! It is not so hard.
Now i patched it for myself.
Does anyone else have issues with playing certain files?
When I try to play MKV files on my N1 (running kang-o-rama 0.8 final) it will not play properly at all. Also, when I try to play FLV files I just get audio, no video.
And eventually I would like to see subtitle support. Yeah I know I'm picky, but I like to watch anime on my phone
opensky2... Congrats on the release. Have you licensed the decoders you are distributing? ie; MP3, AAC, ASP, AVC, etc. I don't see you listed as a licensee on the MPEGLA website for either AVC or ASP. Also... What about links to the FFmpeg source code that you are using?

This product is being provided in good faith as a beta test after the original closed beta was leaked. It looks like it's a great app and a first for android - it's obviously taken time and effort to develop and I'm sure most here would be prepared to pay for the final product.
Please don't put other developers off making the effort to bring cool things to android by abusing the trust the developers are giving us here.
folks..i can't seem to open any files.
tried 4 different avi's. all of them bring the app back to the folder selection screen.
running on cyanogen 5.0.8 android 2.2 on my HTC magic.
i tried uninstalling + reinstalling the player twice as well.
any suggestions?

It won't work on Magic, as it doesn't have any of the required cpus.
Downloaded a house episode, full fps on an unedited avi 320mb video, full screen options dosnt distore screen like the demo version.
great! this is exactly what i've been looking for. im definitely willing to pay.
two areas for potential improvement that i've noticed...
1. i cant access the internal memory on my htc incredible. only sd card.
2. i cant set this as the default video player on my phone. ...this would allow a workaround of #1 by using astro file manager to access my files and open them from there.
the 2nd one is more important to me, personally. i would be accessing my videos on my home server and opening them via astro to play over my network.
other than that, this is awesome!

Okay, so, are you going to post more info on it? Is it your project? URL? Is the code open? Does it work in the browser or is it standalone? Etc...

video is flv, it's no supported, flv is diff from swf
i've tested the v3 on archos 5 internet tablet with a small flex swf application, but it seems it doesn't work. the flex application that i've tried is created with flex 3.5 version (flash 9.0.124).
is this swf player for android opensource?....if so can you pls post the link for the source code.....it works a little slow but i badly need to have a swf player embeded into my application....plus could you give me a link to the open source swf player you ported it from......thanks
I can't seem to get it to work with any swf embedded in the browser included in 2.2.1 Cyanogenmod 6, froyo.
Already tried different websites with swf and i haven't found any supported yet.
is there something i have to do after installing?.
this was tested in htc magic, which doesn't have support for 10.1 flash from adobe either.
It opens and plays only Videos uploaded from YouTube
I have tested it on my APad 2.1.Flytouch in Facebook on a video uploaded from Youtube with the browser and it played it allright , but other formats it cant open or play.
I tried this on PanDigital with open platform Android installed version 2. The process would terminate unexpectedly. The goal was to try to use this app to view streaming flash content from continuing eductaion web site. Can this app do that? are there any tweaks? I tried release 3 and 6.
I can open SWF file in my Defy, but no sound, sigh~~
Thankyou very much
not wrking in ICS

VLC!!!

It was a complete P.I.T.A but I just finished building VLC. I had to upgrade my Linux distro, upgrade from Android SDK 15 to 17, install the NDK, install Eclipse from source (the version in the repos wasn't current enough), install the Android Developers Tools plugin for Eclipse, install about 30 different dependencies on Ubuntu, download over 1GB of Android SDK modules, and finally pull the Android VLC sources. Then I had to wait about 30 minutes while my ridiculously slow netbook compiled the source code, and THEN I had to compile the result of THAT in Eclipse.
The end result is an alpha build of VLC that runs on our phones (despite being built against the Gingerbread libs). It does in fact work, I just tested a couple video and audio files. I've tested the build with NEON enabled (hardware accelerated decoding) which seems to be okay and is in fact enabled on our SK4G. That being said, tomorrow i'll probably hit it again and build without NEON and see if it's more stable.
ENJOY

Ill give it a try in the morning looks legit. Are subtitles working? Like with mkv?
Sent from my SGH-T839 using XDA
I haven't tested subtitles yet. I tried one .mkv which caused the app to hang, but it was an odd format that I actually ripped from youtube. (it was a .webm which is basically a renamed .mkv)
Oh, and in case you're wondering why it says "no media" when you start it, you have to go into preferences and select which directories it reads from. mine are set to /sdcard/Music and /sdcard/Videos.
Unintentional kang
I didn't realize until I tried rebuilding VLC on my other computer today, but I uploaded someone else's VLC build (and a rather old one at that). I should really clean up my home directory because it's full of random APK files (both compiled and decompiled) and SDK components at the moment. I rebuilt about 4 times today, encountering all manner of errors along the way but after i finally got the issues all sorted out, the resulting build only runs on Gingerbread and ICS. This is because the Froyo code has been stripped from the the code base in the VLC git, so it's pretty much a no go on our phones until we get a Gingerbread ROM. On the upside, I just tested my VLC build on my old LG Optimus running CM7 and it works like a champ. I'll post the build I just made if anyone is interested, not that it does us any good on our SK4G
I'm definitely interested! Can you post your build. Does your build allow for entry of rtsp url to connect to a stream? Thanks a ton
no, there is no support for streaming built into the VLC app and I don't think there will be. There was no mention of it in the code, so I think that the VLC app is simply intended to be for local files only and be able to handle video playback of most file types and codecs. So far, I haven't been too impressed with it. It was a lot of work to get it up and running only to find that it lags far behind competitors like Mobo player and Rock player. Then again, it's still an alpha software so I'm sure file support will come.
I'm not sure why, but I wasn't able to locate a single media file using VLC. (And I have songs, and a few .mp4 on the SD Card.) Anyways, thanks for compiling this.

What ever happened to VLC beta?

Back in late 2011, VideoLAN had a beta signup for VLC on android, but now all their VLC for android page says is that it's under development.
Nothing more seems to have been said regarding that. In the past changelogs for VLC, there have been minor android mentions, so what's the deal?

^unofficial, but if you need it..here ya go.
