[MOD] Wake up phone using Trackball? - Desire Android Development

hey all,
been looking into the bravo-keypad and if you look at the top of a bravo-keypad for wake up using BACK you have this
key 102 HOME
key 139 MENU
key 158 BACK WAKE_DROPPED
key 217 SEARCH
key 107 ENDCALL WAKE_DROPPED
key 116 POWER
key 115 VOLUME_UP WAKE
key 114 VOLUME_DOWN WAKE
The trackball has the key 272 which i got from keytest using recovery.
IF i had this to the file instead of back, i kill the power button ..
suggestions why? lol
and a solution on how to add it?

This would be interesting if it could ever be achieved

It is allready in the ShadowFrost rom, but it would be nice to make it, so it could be used in other roms as well.

That's good news! It means it is doable...

I don't think you can activate trackpad/trackball wake up in bravo-keypad.kl. It's a kernel patch from what I gather.
In my DeFrost 2.0c I have trackpad to wake and unlock, together with the power button. Trackpad is not listed in bravo-keypad.kl.

Well. It works in DeFrost 2.0c, so, I of course it is possible.
How? I don't have a clue.

Headset controls

Ok I picked up a new headset today (broke my OEM headset) and I really want to get the volume up/down and the answer/end keys to work for winamp.....I did a bit of snooping around with root explorer and found something very interesting..... (/system/usr/keylayout/sec_jack.kl) and when I opened it with text editor I get this (key 248 send_end)....anyone wanna give me a good push in the right direction? I would love for this sony headset to work like it does in my wife's 4g... control volume up/down, and play,plause,fw,rw...ect.

Yeah, you want to change it to headset_hook or something or other like that. I did the same (don't have the exact term in front of me) and can now get play/pause/fwd through the inline remote. You're out of luck for volume and the like, though.
Mind blowing that this isn't enabled by default, Samsung.
Yea... totally blows.... so change (keyXXX SEND_END) TO (key XXX headset_hook)

Side button (volume) unlock screen

Currently I`m using WidgetLocker to unlock screen with volume but I lost default unlock screen from sense who is beautifull so:
WidgetLocker Lockscreen can do it, CM7 rom I heard that can do it so how can they do it? What should us (I`m sure that I`m not the only one who don`t want to use power button to unlock screen or to use some app that keep sensors on) have to do to unlock screen with volume keys? I tried to edit keypad.kl (key 114 VOLUME_DOWN WAKE to WAKE_DROPPED) but on desire S has no effect so if widget locker/cm7 can do this thing maybe someone can help and say what should I have to edit ?
update: after using ButtonRemapper v0.2.4.1:
1.volume +- with wake_dropped = didn`t worked to unlock screen.
2.volume +- binded as power and wake_dropped = when screen was on it worked to make screen off but when screen was off didn`t worked to unlock.
out of ideas :|
Bump
I'm bumping this one.
Yes there are more people who want to use their volume key(s) to unlock to their Sense 3 based lockscreen!
Hope that somebody can come up with an answer!
I'm keeping my eyes on this post.
Cheers,
D.

i got this working on my htc evo today, here are my changes i made using Button Remapper v0.2.4.1
107 [Endcall] Endcall W_D
116 [Power] Volume Up W
115 [Volume Up] Volume Down W
114 [Volume Down] Power W_D
217 [Search] Search W_D
158 [Back] Back W_D
139 [Menu] Menu W_D
102 [Home] Home W_D
so now my power button is vol up, vol up is vol down, and vol down is power.
im not sure if this will work on your phone, but i dont get to help people much and this felt right up my alley
EDIT: also, i used to use widgetlocker with a sense theme, so you should be able to change it in the custom slider screen, check under themes.
Look HERE for info how to do it.

[Q] Sensation can be waked up by search key when it is asleep?

I tried to modify system/usr/keylayout/pyramid-keypad.kl and system/usr/keylayout/qwerty.kl, then search key can lock my device and let it sleep, but it can't wake up my device.
i modified that:
system/usr/keylayout/pyramid-keypad.kl
key 217 POWER WAKE_DROPPED
system/usr/keylayout/qwerty.kl
key 217 POWER WAKE_DROPPED

[Q][CustomKeyMap] help me! power button broken

can someone make a customkeymap for the powerbutton
replace the 3d button so i can use the 3d button to unlock the screen......
..
my power button is broken please help
thx guys
key mapping wont help you as after deep sleep only power key would wake it. You need to stop from fone going into deep sleep. you may use no lock app on market and then add wake to volumekeys

i think cm7 has an option to wake on volume keys from deep sleep. this will save you battery but your 3d would be limited.

no when it is a couple of minutes on lockscreen then the customkeymap dont work anymore
then it should work when its
249 POWER WAKE
or
249 POWER WAKE_DROPPED
Code:
WAKE #Completes the action without waking the screen
WAKE_DROPPED #Wakes the phone to complete the action

I'm afraid that it's not possible to wake up the O3D with any other button than the power button. There is a similar 6-page thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1351552
You could also try ButtonRemapper but I doubt it will work:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=850464
But since you can enter CWM and boot your phone, isn't it possible to flash a stock .kdz ROM (in order to remove the root and CWM) and send it to the LG service?
Well i think i am lost here but i can help but it will cost you your stock LG ui just download and install Go ex and go to settings and make the volume and home key the wakeup buttons..
Do you mean the Go Locker instead of the Go Launcher EX? Last time I used the launcher, it didn't have the option to wake up the phones with the volume buttons. Go locker has this option according to the thread I posted above.
open the sucker,
disassemble it...
find the power button ans the strip that connects it to the Motherboard
you will find an L shaped two parallel wires.
Replace them with phone wires...
(most likely those wires broke...)

LG P500 - keys problem

First of all, good day to all.
So, my father got rid of his old cellphone and gave it to me, it's a LG P500, the problem is... It seems it got wet and some keys are mixed up:
* The one that should bring the menu in apps (the one in the far left) it's doing the "back", "volume up" and his original function.
* The "home" button seems to be working fine
* The "back" button is working as "volume -" and "home" (I think is working as home because when I hit it it takes me to the home screen instead of back)
* The "search" button is seems to work fine
* The "volume up" and "volume -" keys seems to be working fine
I already searched around the forum and found a key remap file so I flashed it and now the "search" button is working as the "back" button (which is something good, because now I can go through the menu's without having to reboot the cellphone).
I also found something about changing text on "system/usr/keylayout/qwerty.kl" but I don't know what to change, could anybody help me with this? I need to remap the "menu" button (far left button) and the "power" and "lock" buttons.
I'm using Cyanogenmod 7.2 CR2.
Thanks in advance and sorry about this but I'm new to all this.

nvm, I finally got it fixed by trial and error
key 139 MENU
key 102 HOME
key 115 VOLUME_UP
key 114 VOLUME_DOWN
key 217 SEARCH
key 116 POWER
Those are the keys for the hardware buttons, just swap them on the qwerty.kl, I swapped menu to 102 and home to 139 and now it's working fine.

Hey, I'm trying to do something similar in CM10; I want to re-map the Search key as the Back key. I've tried editing Generic.kl (that's the file I had to edit to disable the capacitive buttons on my tablet) and after that didn't work, a Google search brought me here. I've tried editing the keys in qwerty.kl mentioned in the post above mine, but it doesn't seem to take effect.
Any ideas? I've tried the obvious clear cache/dalvik. I must be missing something small...

I would try downloading a Jelly Bean ROM to try but I have been changing between ROMS for a week ( I have flashed the phone like 40 times by now ) and I'm trying to stick to the one I'm using right now ( mainly because I have been playing a RPG game and I don't know how to backup my save data ). ._. !
This list:
key 139 MENU
key 102 HOME
key 115 VOLUME_UP
key 114 VOLUME_DOWN
key 217 SEARCH
key 116 POWER

Haven't changed between CM7 and CM9 so I guess it would be the same on CM10.
If you manage to get it to work please report back so other people can know what to do.
Good luck.

It worked. I didn't know to edit thunder_keypad.kl.
Addendum;
FWIW, my Mom has a p500 too, and her back key is almost totally dead. Now I get to "fix" it for her, and as a plus I don't have to worry about constantly abusing my menu key. Many, many, many thanks.
No problem, I'm glad I could help you. (=
